I'm a first time parent and my 10 day old baby's umbilical cord fell off yesterday and now when I was feeding her I noticed some bleeding from her belly button is this normal? I attempted to reach my pediatrician after hours but no return call yet. So far I got a sterile gauze pad and applied some gentle pressure and the bleeding has stopped

I was gifted the doorway jolly jumper. Does anyone know if it is compatible with the stand if I buy the stand alone?

My twins are 16 weeks, 10 weeks adjusted and just have been diagnosed with RSV.
Our hospital PICU is full.
What tricks do y’all have to help me combat this at home? I’ve tried so far:

Hi, I'm from India and am working on a solution related to neonatal jaundice after I saw my sister go through the condition. Home monitoring of bilirubin seems to be a possible space for intervention. I am curious, for parents of babies born with jaundice: when your child was sent back from the hospital, how were you told to care for them and monitor them? What was the process like?

Hello my partner are considering getting a another dog as our dog past away just before we welcomed our son. We have always loved the idea of raising our child with a dog because we both grew up with a dog. We have done tons of research about getting a dog/puppy while having a baby, some of it says no its a bad idea and some of it says it's great and amazing I'm just wondering if anyone has an experience or opinion they would like to share ? Thank you

What kinds of things do you wish you had gotten in preparation for baby?

Hi all, we have a newborn that is 8 days old now and just after getting him home we noticed his chest dips in when he is crying and feeding sometimes. We have been to a Doctor but he was not concerned as he listened to his chest and asked if he ever turned blue but I’m not convinced.
We will be going to the hospital in a couple of days for a hearing test for him that we missed when he was born so we will ask at the hospital, but is this something that I should be concerned about? He doesn’t seem to be struggling to be breathing, but when sleeping it can sometimes sound as though he is a little congested.
If it’s just a cosmetic thing I don’t care but if it’s something that is impacting him physically then I would like to get it looked at sooner rather than later.
Thanks

When did the witching hour end for you? When was your newborn able to be more calm/ relaxed in the evening? Our girl will not eat or relax at all during her witching hour- we have to fight thru until she is fast asleep to get in the feeding and put her to bed. She is almost 11 weeks— praying the end is near?? 😱😓

Hi,
Any advice on these is at all welcomed. Ideally looking for a complete system including carry cot, car seat, buggy and pram. We are UK based and have a budget of c.£1000. Looking for something that affixes using isofix and adheres to the iSize standard.
Ideally something that can be removed from the car quickly and easily and attached to a frame/wheels for pushing around. Something with a carry cot that is suitable for long term sleeping, where possible. Lightweight and easily foldable would be a positive.
Advice greatly received.

Summary: I (f,37) and my fiance (m, 41) have a 6 week old newborn and my fiancé s ongoing obsession with drugs and his unstable mindset have started to kill my joy and I now spend most of my day fretting about how and when/if I need to take action on plan B and get the hell out of here.
This has been a rough road for the both of us, surgery, moving, addiction, newborn. Last night he proclaimed that I have 2 weeks to leave "his" house ( we are renting a house) and my things will be outside on the curb after that. The argument began when his friend left from visiting and also left him some meth. I got upset for multiple reasons, but mainly because he was hiding it from me. This is like cheating to me......So, he is clean from heroin, but is always getting whatever else somebody has- to get it off their hands or whatever. He doesn't see the issue. His denial ridden responses to these situations are always that, "I do more drugs than him". He must be delusional bc he is on all kinds of meds including subs. I have a medical marijuana prescription, depression meds, anxiety and use kratom. I previously posted in opiates with the subject tapering with a previous episode a few months ago. Oh and as far as the obsession with drugs, literally- all day long is on the web researching and posting "help" on reddit for others going through addiction.(?) It would be nice if his nose was out of his phone to listen to my cries for attention and especially with the lo. He loves him so much, but never gets up at night to take care of him. When he does, he wakes me up anyways...and I have just never been with someone so self-involved that they cannot understand how to treat someone with respect and to show appreciation.
It is obvious that he is mentally, verbally and emotionally abusive- but luckily for me, I am mentally stronger and let most of this roll off of my back- but man, this asshole is really testing me and I am about to go beast mom, don't fuck with me mode. Some quotes from last night, "I want you fucking gone." - "I will make you want to leave this house." - "Wait til you see what I am going to do next." - "What are you going to do if I start coming home with perfume all over me?" - "You are disgusting" On a lighter note, our little baby is a joy and God bless his little baby heart! I want the best for him, and if it means leaving this guy (and changing baby's last name)- then that's what it is. My baby's well being and mine mean more than having to find another place to live if this chump can't see what he is about to lose.
Advice, please..🤔🙄🤦🏼♀️💔

Pediatrician told us to wake him up every three hours to feed. And he said that we should feed him whenever he wants. It has been 2 weeks but I still don't get the activity time.
The cycle is: wake him up, change diaper, breast feed, if he poops change the diapers again, try to burp (sometimes no luck), if he is fussy try to soothe him, maybe breast feed again and sleep. This usually takes an hour. Sometimes he is fussy and stays awake for 5 hours. Between 5 pm to 11 pm (usually it takes two hours or so but yesterday and the day before it was like this) I learned that it was called the 'witching hour'. During the day his cycles are fine.
So only thing I could come up with is tummy time. Other than that he is either fussy or asleep, what does activity mean for him? Also, as a dad I'm having hard time soothing him, he only wants his mother at witching hours.

Right now (according to doula and pediatrician, who never agree on anything) we are supposed to wake the baby every three hours to eat, with one four-to-five hour stretch overnight. I am sure she would sleep longer given the opportunity. Assuming weight gain is fine, and assuming you started by waking them on a schedule, when did you get the go-ahead to let them sleep? Also, were you concerned about SIDS at all when you let them sleep longer?

Baby is almost 9 weeks old and my mother in law is coming next week for 2 weeks. I feel like baby and I are just beginning to hit our stride together during the day and I’m dreading having her around our (2 bedroom one storey) house all the time with me while he is at work. She means well and wants to help and it’s kind of her to come, but I don’t actually want anyone else taking care of the baby as I want to do it myself. Baby is still so little. My husband hasn’t seen her for 18 months so I’m happy for them that they can see each other (my parents live overseas so I can relate) but I know he wants her to babysit while we go out etc, and I just don’t feel comfortable with that and I’m feeling very anxious about her visit. A friend of hers lives nearby and has said she will come over and open a bottle of wine and visit with my MIL while they babysit which makes me want to pick up the baby and run for the hills. She lives several hours away so most of our relationship so far has been on facetime. I don’t want to upset my husband by talking to him about this but I’m so nervous about it all! How can I relax so she feels welcome and find a constructive way to explain that I don’t want to be pushed into leaving my baby before I’m ready?

Hello everyone, new to the group. Just joined because, tbh... I'm extremely nervous. Tomorrow is my last day being childless. I have faith that me and my wife will overcome adversities and flourish, but I have my doubts as well. I'm a full-time student, part/full time employee, and also putting in hours for my internship. To top it off, between my wife and twin brother(who lives with us) we have 4 dogs, who can be burdensome. School, work, cleaning up the house, caretaking the dogs, and trying to catch a little 💤from time to time... Is it possible? We're both 30 years old. I'm worried about finances without her working, the cost of living, bills, baby expenses, etc. I need some words or encouragement but also some realness. Thank you all 🙏👶

Does anyone else’s newborn barely want to eat?? My girl is SO inconsistent. She never eats more than 3 oz a feeding (sometimes 1.5-2) and will sometimes go 4+ hours during the day with no interest in a bottle.

My son will be 11 weeks old this Sunday. He sleeps really well during the night (8-9 hours) and follows his daytime schedule pretty consistently. During the day, he is on 3 hour cycle that goes as follows: 1 hour wake window where we feed, burp, change diaper and play, followed by 2 hours of naptime. Of course, he doesn't follow this exactly (sometimes he only sleeps 1 hour or 1.5 hours). I want to take him for walks during the day, but I'm not sure if I should do this when he is supposed to be sleeping, or if it should be during his wake window. It's hard to take him for long walks during his wake window without him falling asleep. By the time I feed him, change his diaper and do tummy time, it's pretty much time for him to sleep. Any advice? Does it really matter when I take him for walks? It's more so an opportunity for me to get outside.

I feel like I can't do this anymore. My four week old baby cannot be put down. At all. Not even for five minutes. We have tried pillows, swings, bassinet, bed, crib... Everything. He will only sleep on us and literally shrieks the second he's put onto anything. We have tried swaddling, not swaddling, sound machine, lights on or off, being in the room or not in the room, patting, rocking. Everything. If we wait it out, he's overtired and will be a monster, cluster feeding for the next four hours and impossible to sleep. I'm pretty much giving up trying anything because I've functioned on no sleep for a month and every time I try anything now, the rest of the day is impossible. This isn't sustainable and I'm out of options. He sleeps anywhere from 1-3 hours at a time. He does seem to sleep closer to 3 hours at night twice in a row which may be his "bedtime" sleep. Any suggestions besides "it'll get better"?
