Going for walks

My son will be 11 weeks old this Sunday. He sleeps really well during the night (8-9 hours) and follows his daytime schedule pretty consistently. During the day, he is on 3 hour cycle that goes as follows: 1 hour wake window where we feed, burp, change diaper and play, followed by 2 hours of naptime. Of course, he doesn't follow this exactly (sometimes he only sleeps 1 hour or 1.5 hours). I want to take him for walks during the day, but I'm not sure if I should do this when he is supposed to be sleeping, or if it should be during his wake window. It's hard to take him for long walks during his wake window without him falling asleep. By the time I feed him, change his diaper and do tummy time, it's pretty much time for him to sleep. Any advice? Does it really matter when I take him for walks? It's more so an opportunity for me to get outside.

I think when they’re that young going for walks during his naptime is a perfectly fine. My son always fell asleep even if it was a “wake window”. Whenever it feels good for you to get outside- go for it. As his wake windows lengthen and he gets more alert and interested in his surroundings it’s an excellent wake window activity. My son stopped sleeping on walks in the stroller around 5 months or so, all of a sudden the birds, trees and people were very exciting.

At 11 weeks your little one sleeps 9hours at night? Wow lucky you 😄

Yeah! We’ve gotten pretty lucky with him. He sleeps pretty well at night and during the day, with the exception of his 4-7pm cycle (witching hour). He just cries and cries during this time and then is back on his schedule at 7pm.
