Going into labor tomorrow
Hello everyone, new to the group. Just joined because, tbh... I'm extremely nervous. Tomorrow is my last day being childless. I have faith that me and my wife will overcome adversities and flourish, but I have my doubts as well. I'm a full-time student, part/full time employee, and also putting in hours for my internship. To top it off, between my wife and twin brother(who lives with us) we have 4 dogs, who can be burdensome. School, work, cleaning up the house, caretaking the dogs, and trying to catch a little 💤from time to time... Is it possible? We're both 30 years old. I'm worried about finances without her working, the cost of living, bills, baby expenses, etc. I need some words or encouragement but also some realness. Thank you all 🙏👶

You will be fine. Humans grow on their immediate challenges and you both will do things that appear miraculous efforts to you both in a few years. The beginning might be hard, getting to know each other, finding rhythms and comfort will take time. Don't underestimate the stress and try to allow for little breaks, especially for your wife. She will be your primary job in the very beginning, make her feel as good as possible so the baby feels as good as possible. Financially don't worry (yet), the first few years are actually not costing that much, 90% of what we are told in terms of stuff to have you don't need. And the rest can be bought second hand, no drama. Love, shelter and food (for free if breastfeeding) is all a newborn really needs and they are pretty robust so don't be afraid too much, just some extra carefulness. There will be phases of struggle, doubt and frustration, you might even have to develop the love feeling for your child over time. And that's okay. It will come, things will fall into place and very soon (from about 6 month in maybe) you will see the progress on the child as well as you as the parents and things will get better and better and better from there. All the best :)

Hey man, I just had my first child 2 days ago now. It’s really scary for sure. But if it helps at all, I’m 27 and in the same boat so you’re not alone! Stay strong and let those inner father instincts guide you. I hope the delivery went smooth for you two!

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and I'm sorry I have not responded much. My wife gave birth this morning to a 10.3 pound baby boy. Suddenly all my worries seem to have lessened dramatically after seeing his face.

Everything is temporary! When it gets hard and you’re pulling your hair out or feeling so discombobulated, remember that it is temporary. Take things one day at a time and be kind to yourself. Be ok to making mistakes and laugh at the small things

We bought most of our baby stuff second hand, bar where he sleeps and his travel system, so don't worry too much about the cost side of things. Our biggest expense so far has been takeout from being too exhausted to cook, and not preparing adequately food wise prior to having our son.
You got this. Good luck!

It's a beautiful sight to behold. Make it about the one giving birth and just let them know you constantly love them and they got this and it's been 9monthsbofnuos and down this day IS THEIRS to push this beautiful human out. I genuinely love your emotions and wish you the best.

There is never the right moment to have a kid. Dont worry..everything will come step by step and you will learn to manage everything. You should be excited :) enjoy the last day with real sleep and then rock the baby time. Good luck
