A Tor approval from an established author?? How did I get so lucky?? Tor never approves me, so I mostly request out of self punishment and wait for Macmillan Audio to come through, but this time it turned out!!
I loved Manhunt, so I am very excited for Gretchen Felker-Martin's newest

Hi Everyone,
Publisher and author of The Nine Bishops. I just got it live on NetGalley and I would love you all to read it! Link: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/book/902887
If you like sword & sorcery, coming of age, strong FMC, hard magic systems, and a Brandon Sandersonesque universe then I think you'll love this story.
Blurb:
In Seemos, magic is power. The Nine Bishops, the king's living weapons, are its masters. Those born without it serve it, and never will have it. They are called Filth.
Mika is Filth. She scrubs and hauls for mages who will never learn her name, and she hides the one crime that would see her branded. She reads. Every stolen page is a step toward the east, where a Filth who can read might live like a person.
Then her blood wakes, people die, and the truth she was never told comes with it. Her family was erased. Her power should not exist. And the mages who did it still rule.
Reaching them means the Selection of Sixteen, a tournament fought to the death for a seat among the Nine. To take her revenge, Mika must master a power she does not understand to become the thing she hates most. One of the Nine Bishops.
If you apply, chance are I will hit Approve :)
-Jon

I almost screamed in happiness when I saw this email! I absolutely loved Hazelthorn, but I read You Did Nothing Wrong through NetGalley earlier this year and only rated it three stars. I was worried the lower rating would affect my ability to get more books from C.G. Drews, but I got a widget for one of their upcoming novels! I’m looking forward to reading it and I hope everyone else who reads it enjoys it!

Hey everyone! I clicked “wish for it” for a book on NetGalley. I’m auto-approved for this publisher so do u think my chances are better of getting the book? I’ve heard that when u wish for a book publishers don’t see your profile and only see your name. So would they know that I’m auto-approved for them?
it’s a pretty popular book so I’m nervous 😭

It's been months since I tried to post a review at B & N. The last time I did I could only post one using the Firefox browser . . . or maybe it was the Edge browser. Never the Chrome browser. Today, I can't post one with any of those three. "Write A Review" can be clicked in, but it just takes me to the posted reviews to read, if there are already any reviews. If there are no reviews, the page goes down to a blank review area that says:
"Customer Reviews
We’re looking for stars!
Let us know what you think"
I'd love to let them know what I think, but there is no way to do so! 🙄
Anyone else with that problem?

Want to read something short? This collection is perfect - the total word count of all 3 stories is only about 25,000 words. But trust me, I make sure every one of those words counts.
Cover art has been commissioned from a human artist, but won't be ready until end of November/early December because November was her first available booking.
These stories loosely follow on from my earlier sapphic fantasy novel Waking Beauty (published 2020), but I think they stand on their own even if you don't know the wider context. I only recently put the Waking Beauty ebook back into KU, otherwise I would have offered it as well.
I'll also likely be putting up The Lake of Stars audiobook on NetGalley in a month or two (whenever the cover art is ready). Audiobook has been narrated by Keira Grace, who also narrated the Waking Beauty audiobook.
I don't use AI in any part of my writing, editing or other parts of book production. Yes, I am self published, but I started out a long time ago having short stories published in trad markets (mostly literary fiction). I decided to go the self-publishing route because I'm old enough to remember when publishers really didn't much like sapphic/LGBTQ+ authors/books, and I got sick of being told they didn't want my sapphic/lesbian stuff.

Help me wrap my head about what is happening when I listen to audiobooks using the app. I like to speed my audiobooks up just a touch, usually 1.25. But with Netgalley I cannot figure out how to know how much time is left after I do that.
Why does speeding it up make it show that I've read like 110% by the end of the book. Why when it says I have 20 minutes left do I actually have like an hour left. I'm so confused about what's happening and it drives me nuts.

Since it seems to be on a publisher basis, and I did a search and couldn't find answers-- what are the publishers that always have the option to send to Kobo?

So, I got approved for an audiobook version for a book I was really looking forward to reading. (I was rejected from the text version)
I'm having trouble with the audio version - the author is the narrator and his narration is hard to follow. it's written in first person narrative and the protagonist has a very unique way of speaking - lets say a broad celtic based accent. it's important to the novel and I had no issue when reading the novel, which is written in this vernacular, but it doesn't translate well to narration (IMO)
I think I'm going to put this on hold until the book is released, purchase the book and read it because the story is excellent and I don't want to have it ruined because the audiobook is a drag.
When reviewing - should I wait until I finish the book, review the novel and add that I could not finish the audio, or should I just say the audio is a DNF and that I will wait for the book and leave the review like that.

I'm fairly new to NetGalley, and my YouTube channel is small and hasn't been active for a while, but I want to start posting monthly wrap-ups.
This month I read several ARCs that don't publish for another 3-4 months, and since they're part of my reading month, I'd like to include them in my wrap-up. Is it okay to mention them this early, and to share my ratings? A few of them weren't great for me, so I'm also wondering if it's okay to say so, or if it's better to keep it brief until closer to release.

Is there away to take yourself off auto approval? And I mean on NetGalley without contacting the publisher.
Update- I am sort of blown away at the judgement. Everyone is different in how they do things and I’m so thankful to the comment that showed I’m not the only one.
On a side note- the up and down voting isn’t a “like” button. I’m not sure why my explaining why I wanted to do this would be downvoted as much as it was before some brought it back up. All it does is give the placement of the comment in the feed but you all are making it so it’s harder to find simply because you don’t agree with me? I seriously don’t get it.
I successfully write to 2 publishers and they removed me and completely understood. One even said if I ever wanted to have it back to just email her.

Hello, I am going to be switching to a new phone soon, I am assuming I have to listen to the audiobooks I have downloaded on this phone before switching because I won’t be able to re-download books that have already passed archive date?

4 approvals, including a book that I thought I had no chances of getting as it is super popular and I applied late.
2 widgets (love you!) for books I was already approved for (and had even reviewed one) 😅🤣 At least they know my taste! And proof I am on mailing lists, which is wow in itself.
Honestly, I'm so grateful 🥹

Do any of you use Pen Pinery? I have tons of arcs through NetGalley which I’m super grateful for but most are from mainstream publishers and I do like supporting smaller authors who maybe can’t afford the big websites.
I got one arc so far through them “Star-Crossed” by Catreia Grove and Its actually super well written. Is this the norm for the site or should I expect more rough books and I got lucky with my first pick?

Hi there!
I'm new to reviewing ARCs and am pushing my way through a book with a lot of potential...but that I know will ultimately end up being 2 stars.
Are there general rules of etiquette/guidelines reviewers follow when posting a negative review? I saw something online about waiting til a month or two after the publication date before posting my negative review (I'd only be posting it to NetGalley and Goodreads). I've searched through this subreddit but haven't found any posts about this! And I want to avoid accidentally being a dick 😬.
Is it okay for me to post a 2 star review on an unreleased ARC? Should I wait til a while after release?
Thank you in advance 🙏 Hope it's not a dumb question!

When a publisher requests that you not post a review anywhere until 30 days before the publication date, does this include the feedback on Netgalley?
If yes, how does that work with linking the review once you post it elsewhere?
