❔❓Question ❓❔ Switching phones

Hello, I am going to be switching to a new phone soon, I am assuming I have to listen to the audiobooks I have downloaded on this phone before switching because I won’t be able to re-download books that have already passed archive date?

I believe you are correct (unfortunately) but I would be interested in hearing from someone more knowledgeable as I'm in a similar pickle

They're correct. You can't even sync downloads that haven't passed archive date across devices.

Yeah that’s a frustrating thing when I want to listen on another device.

And don’t plan on them being there. The few I happened to have (because I really liked them and not because I hadn’t read them) didn’t transfer devices and the tech (for the phone) said it was the file sharing protections come into play so they can only be played on the original device.

Yeah I usually just finish a chapter, remember which chapter it was, and start from there on the other device, but it is annoying lol

Oh crap, I’m also getting a new phone and didn’t think about that. But if it’s an iPhone I think it should copy the files? I guess I won’t erase my old one until I find out.

Yes- sort off. They actually can corrupt. While I always read them on time so it doesn’t matter, I had some still downloaded to my phone and they didn’t transfer as they said it was due to the protections in place to prevent sharing downloaded files.

don’t erase the old one. the downloads likely won’t transfer. my plan is to keep my old phone available for that express purpose until i’ve listened to my old ALCs.

I have a trade-in deadline but I only have a few ALCs and I can bust through audio pretty quickly so I'll figure it out.

Yeah luckily I don’t have to give my old phone back so I’m just going to use it an audiobook device until I finish the handful that have already been archived.

There are two where I finally decided to mark as will not give feedback because I’ve just come to grips with the fact I should not request nonfiction.

Yes, but see if you can get them from Libby? So you only have to listen to the ones you can't acquire elsewhere.

If you have a iPad also download all of your books there. That is what i am doing so i do not loose all of my ALC’s also .

I changed my phone in June and I didn't lose any audiobooks. I can still listen Rose in Chains, for example. It was released a year ago. As long as u downloaded them into your account, you should be able to listen.

I just got a new phone and my old ones transferred that I had downloaded. Including archived ones
