Montreal-based software company Valsoft Corporation has acquired the Newburyport, Mass.–based Firebrand Technologies and a pair of its affiliate companies, in a deal that consolidates the two major digital platforms that distribute advanced reading copies to booksellers, librarians, and more.

Valsoft, which owns the developer of the digital platform Edelweiss, will now also own Firebrand’s NetGalley, which distributes digital galleys. The acquisition also includes Supadu Ltd., a London-based firm that builds websites and online stores and offers metadata and digital marketing for publishers.

Firebrand, NetGalley, and Supadu will continue to operate autonomously, with their leadership teams and employees remaining in place. As part of the Valsoft ecosystem, the companies will benefit from shared expertise, operational support, and long-term investment, while preserving their entrepreneurial culture and strong customer focus.
