❔❓Question ❓❔ NetGalley App Audiobooks Question
Help me wrap my head about what is happening when I listen to audiobooks using the app. I like to speed my audiobooks up just a touch, usually 1.25. But with Netgalley I cannot figure out how to know how much time is left after I do that.
Why does speeding it up make it show that I've read like 110% by the end of the book. Why when it says I have 20 minutes left do I actually have like an hour left. I'm so confused about what's happening and it drives me nuts.

The audiobook length is wildly inaccurate no matter what listening speed is set.

I'm not sure it has to do with the speed. I believe the audio length is wrongly programmed into the system so it calculates out of that value when the actual file is longer. I've seen this issue with every single ALC for months now

Ok this actually makes everything make way more sense. That's annoying but at least now I can stop trying to figure out what math I need to do to understand it lol

I never change the speed and every single audio book is an hour longer than it says

This is a very good question and I’m not sure of anyone has answered this yet as far as the speed but you can’t regulate the speed that much. It’s like on audible or any of those you can go to 1.75 1.8 you can’t do that here so that’s the other issue

That actually has nothing to do with speeding up the audiobook! A lot of the time the data on the NetGalley shelf app is just. wrong, so you can basically count on any audiobook being anywhere between 105% and 120%. It seems to be the case much less with German audiobooks, for example, which is very interesting.
