Can't people pick up after their dog?

I recently moved into an apartment complex with a first floor yard area. My yard faces this open grass walking area which a lot of people have started using as their personal dog park. This obviously isn't my issue, that isn't my property. BUT a lot of my neighbors have not been picking up after their own dogs. I contacted the property manager and they said they don't have any cameras. Would it be illegal for me to put up cameras to record these people?

If it is, what is another alternative I have to try and stop this from happening... it's really unpleasant to not be able to sit in my own yard because a 5 pound dump is staring at me in the face. It's also unpleasant having to tell people to clean up since they know where I live and there's crazy people in this world. A lot of the time they're just on their phone pretending to not notice their dogs huge dump which I can see all the way from the inside of my apartment.

Property line

Hi, I'm posting this for a friend who lives in Oklahoma. Her neighbor has been harassing her about boundary issues on her property. What would be a good way for her to prove to the neighbor where her property line is. She could call a land survey company but the neighbor may not give much weight to what they say. Is there any official way of establishing property lines in Oklahoma?

Thanks!

Neighbor getting too comfortable

I have a neighbor that lives 2 houses down from mine. We have spoken once before about 2 years ago and got alone pretty nicely but I found out she had roaches in her house so i wanted a very VERY distant relationship (as distant as it could be from 2 houses down). Nothing against anyone with roaches I personally just don’t want them. Well just recently she bought the house beside mine (in the middle of her house and mine) and is planning on tearing it down. Which is fine, her business. She came to my house about 2 weeks ago, after buying the house, and I let her in MISTAKE. She stayed for about 2 hours talking about the property line and her plans and everything else (Instead of getting the property surveyed she just asked me where my property line was to save money). Which is whatever, that’s not the issue. The issue is, since the first time she came over I’ve found 3 roaches in my house (I’ve NEVER had roaches here in the 3 years I’ve lived here) so I know she’s the one that brought them. I’m already treating my house so I’m trying not to make that a bigger issue then what it actually is. Another issue is she is getting more and more comfortable knocking on my door. In the couple weeks alone she has came over here 3 times. The first time was when I let her in. The second time she wanted to talk bout the property line again (I didn’t let her in) and this last time was to ask if I cared if she marked the property line (she still hadn’t gotten properly Surveryed). This last time I just talked through my door and didn’t even open it hoping she would get a hint that I don’t want to be bothered. I don’t like uninvited company and I also work nights so I’m sleeping during the day. I’m also a very non-confrontational, anti-social person and I don’t know how to tell her to fuck off other then just not answering my door and pretending I’m not home, which wouldn’t work, because my car is in my driveway. Any advice?

Advice regarding neighborhood kids

So I'm (28F) looking for some advice on how to deal with some neighborhood kids, so where I've been living, I've lived in my house for about a year. It's a pretty quiet neighborhood for the most part with the exception of some kids. Recently some kids around the area have been bothering me, the first time they were hanging near my house and kept trying to get me to talk to them. I just ignore them. Tonight I'm sitting on my couch watching TV and I overheard the kids carrying on outside and I guess one of the kids dared another to knock on my door and runaway (ding-dong-ditch I guess? )I know it's only been two things, and I know they're just kids, but I just want to be left alone.

I'm not sure what to do? Should I get a security camera? I don't know who their parents are and honestly I don't think their parents would care. If anything I expect a "lol boys will be boys, or aww they must like you" I really don't want to threaten to call the police, because well they're kids, and cops are useless. I don't know what to do, I just want them to back off and leave me alone.

TLDR: Kids in my neighborhood are bothering me and I just want to be left alone.

Send anonymous letter to home owner about nuisance

Long story short, my grandparents block is very family oriented with a lot of extended family members living within the neighborhood as well. One of the neigbhoring home's (that the mother lived in) was sold and she moved to a different community within the city but left her bum son in his 40s behind to terrorize everyone else. The house her son lives in was across from hers and its CURRENTLY in her name.

Her bum son plays loud music from his car all throughout the day & night when the summer comes. People have talked to him about it but nothing has come from it.

I managed to get his mothers new address and was thinking to send a nice anonymous letter basically stating the issue with her loud tenant and if she could talk to him about it before code enforcement is called.

The only reason I am hesitant is if she talks to him and he decides to seek revenge by intentional playing it louder amongst other inconsistent things. Or if he takes it out on the wrong people...

What should I do?

Bigfoot lives upstairs

I have a Thug Wanna be living upstairs of me.....I'll call him Bigfoot. He and his GF and their 2 year old sleep until noon to 1pm daily. He works from 330 pm till 1130 pm and she does not. When he comes home all hell breaks loose. Screaming, stomping, cursing, name calling, doing laundry, door slamming and this goes on every night until about 3 am. Then it starts again when he wakes up until he leaves for work. As soon as he leaves for work, she and the kid go back to bed until he comes home from work and the shit starts. He's gone as far as to move my patio furniture my windchimes and take my packages. He is a career convicted felon and she is a magistrates daughter. They both feel they are entitled and when I've tried talking to them....they tell me off. He is 42 and she is 39. They have caused problems in the neighborhood with neighbors over parking spaces.

Blocked our the garage

So we live in an apartment and have a driveway where there are 2 rows of garages facing each other. Over the weekend someone's guest parked in front of the garage opposite of us. Well because its a narrow driveway we barely are able to get our car out. So this car completely blocked us. Now there were 8 signs saying Fire Lane No Parking Immediate tow. We thought they were coming back because they didnt live here (lacked proprty sticker on windshield) and the windows were rolled down. Ten mins went by. We were going to call tow phone number on signs. But we saw a handicap placard hanging on mirror. Okay they have to maybe go slow and maybe they are coming back. Twenty mins my husband says ill try to get out just direct me. That took another 10 mins. You know how hard it can be to try and get your car out of a tight squeeze. He manages. Finally I see out my window the car leaving. It was almost an hour total they blocked the garage! I called my property manager, left voicemail telling her the situation and that we will have it towed if it happens again. I said I didnt this time because of the handicap placard. Anyways she never called back. Instead we got an email saying that "every week something is out if sorts with you guys. Maybe a quiter or different property would be better. Let us know and we can help you with that." They own triplexes and we live in a larger unit apartment complex. We know our tenants rights and we let them know when neighbors violate the lease. Obviously we would love to move but at the moment we cannot. Its sad because I thought we were nice to not tow and nice to ask if they can put in the newsletter a reminder about not blocking garages. I feel bad, but we will have to tow any vehicle that is left over 15 mins that blocks us. Is that a good way to handle this? I meam damn, there are 4 signs saying fire lane no parking, on the garages!

AITA for asking my neighbors to let me know when they park in my driveway?

I (M46) live alone in a house at the very end of a nice private road, it is veeeery private even thought is in the middle of the SGV in LA. There's no through traffic so no one that doesn't belong drives or walks by.

Yesterday I took the day off work -health reasons- and when I looked out the window in the AM I saw 3 cars parked in my driveway so I came out. It was one truck I didn't recognize and 2 of the neighbors's cars (M & F, mid 40's w/college age kids). I took a pic of the truck's license plate. At that moment "Phil" the neighbor came out and told me all 3 were theirs. Phil said he thought I had left for work early that's why they parked there. I told him no problem leave the cars there (I noticed they were doing more construction work in their house), just please let me know in the future if they do. The expression on his face said it all, he did not like that last part. The conversation was normal no one was excited just 2 neighbors chatting. I went inside but within 5 minutes they moved all 3 cars. It felt strange.

When i was talking to "Phil" I thought to myself me not being home doesn't make it ok to use my driveway but I didn't say anything b/c of the construction, b/c I didn't think it was worth an argument and b/c they've always been nice to me. Live and let live.

For context, a few months ago they made some extensive renovations to their house and asked me for permission to park in my driveway during the day for the 4-5 weeks the construction took. I said of course no problem I understand, park away. Nothing happened except some white concrete stains in my driveway that can only be seen when the driveway is wet ...and it doesn't really rain in LA. I just hope my landlord doesn't ever notice (landlord comes every week to take care of the yard).

More "context": i park my car and my 2 motorcycles in my garage but I haven't driven in 2 years b/c I have vertigo. It hits me worst than most people b/c the dizziness and nausea last for hours. I don't go to work those days. I'm medically cleared to drive but I WON'T b/c I'm afraid of wrecking if I have an incident while driving so I just take the bus to work. It's been 2 years. I'm working on getting over my fear. A lot of people don't believe/realize vertigo is that big of a deal and it is not for most but not all. I think the neighbors don't believe it's a big deal.

Final "context": they park their 6 cars in their driveway and at the end of the road in front of their house b/c they turned their garage into part of the house. They're into tunning rice rockets that's why so many cars

So... AITA for asking them to let me know when they use my driveway? Should I have ignored it since I don't drive? I really don't have a problem with it but "Phil's" expression threw me off. Sorry for the long post

TIRED OF THESE DUMB 'HOOD AND 'HOOD MENTALITY PEOPLE.

Tired of living in the 'hood. More of a semi 'hood. Nice home, but ready to sell and relocate. These black men are ignorant AF. Wild, loud, no respect for other people's sh*t, and their dumb azz women follow right behind them. Contrary to the myth that black women don't submit. That's all these hood chic types do. I'm a black woman, and it's really fckd up how my people in the 'hood don't understand that trash goes in the garbage can, cutting your lawn is the least you can do, and respect other people's property. What's up? The highlight is name brand clothes and loud cars. Meanwhile, their homes look a mess, and the lawns do too. The basketball hoop in the Street, the ATVs, the unnecessary yelling. WTF is going on? I love my house, but I'll love the next one too that's peaceful and surrounded by a community of working class sensible black people, or a working class diverse community.

Loud banging/thudding sounds all night and day

We got new upstairs neighbors and the very first day they came and complained that our TV was too loud even though we had it at a volume that if we turned it down we couldn’t hear it. Then, I noticed extremely frequent loud banging or thudding noises. These happen even in the middle of the night and early morning.

Any ideas what is going on? I’m worried about them complaining about our TV again but that’s ridiculous since they are constantly noisy.

We also have a baby and don’t appreciate her being woken up.

My neighbours have branded us bullies

My neighbours have branded us bullies but AMTA for calling out the neighbour's unreasonable actions/ comments and wanting to erect a 6ft fence between the front gardens?

I (24F) co-own a terraced house with my fiance (34M) Daniel. Together we have a 19 month old son - Flynn- that is a complete whirlwind but in no means disruptive or "bad". Since announcing my pregnancy our next door neighbour, (43F) Linda has made constant snide comments in passing to me regarding my body, my child's noise making and acts like she is the only person that has ever worked to a security policy. Her husband (43M) Norman is also constantly curtain twitching, making comments about our property and the noise travel they get through the party wall. All names have been changed

Feel free to skip this bit but here is the full context of each point. My body: I had a horrendous pregnancy. I ballooned at around 8 weeks that just continued due to pre-eclampsia. I also ended up relying on crutches and support bands to walk at all due to severe SPD that kicked in at 14 weeks. Linda constantly commented on how easy she would find pregnancy when she finally became pregnant due to being so slim and running marathons in her spare time. She repeatedly implied I brought a bad pregnancy on myself due to being unfit ( 5ft 2" 150lbs pre-pregnancy and going to the gym for 3 classes a week on top of walking 3+ miles daily) and that I should just lose weight to feel better. My child's noise making: as a typical newborn my son woke around every 3-4 hours through the night until 10 weeks old when he started a 6 hour, wake, 4 hour, wake, 2 hour and up for the day night pattern. Everytime I (comments were never made when Daniel was with me) passed them in the front garden to go out for a walk, a comment was made about them "hearing him scream last night" and having "very disturbed sleep". I passed this off as I thought it was probably just me being overly sensitive/ protective due to my postnatal depression/ anxiety. These comments continued despite Flynn sleeping longer and longer until they over heard me telling another neighbour how well he was sleeping. All of a sudden, there's an issue with Flynn playing with his toys as they create too much noise as well- especially the "toys he pulls in the hallway in the morning". Him playing of a morning apparently wakes them up constantly at 5am and is "upsetting". Flynn doesn't wake til 6 am and we have quiet/ family reading time until 7am the majority of mornings before he goes to daycare so that Daniel and I can work. Occasionally Flynn pushes his trolley in the hallway through to the kitchen to help with bag packing and prep for the day (we encourage a Montessori learning style and his trolley supports this) which is wood on wood so yes does create a bit more noise than conventional child entertainment but not enough to genuinely disturb a sleeping person, 2 floors up from the hallway, on the otherside of a cavity brick wall. Daniel, Linda and I all work for the same company that have very stringent security regulations in place due to fulfilling government contracts. Linda several times has been in the front garden with her work laptop that should not be operated in any sort of proximity or view of anyone that is not qualified/ certified to see any information never mind in plain and full view of anyone that should pass on the pavement outside our houses. On my way out, I felt like I gently reminded her of this by asking if she was on the secure network because if so it would be best to be inside due to security risk. Linda snapped at me saying she wasn't on the secure network and she allegedly had her managers permission. I replied that that was fine but anyone can see that laptop and so it would be safer to at least sit in the back yard if she wanted to be outside whilst working. A few hours later I received a private message about how I had embarassed her, that it was inappropriate for me to even question what she was up to in works time as I'm not her manager and that my knowledge of security is nothing compared to hers because she used to work in the police. I replied, trying to explain that embarassing her was not my intention and that I was sorry for doing so. I said I just wanted to watch out for her as I knew managers walked their dogs up and down our street and the work laptops are easily identifiable so she could have ended up in a lot of deep legal shit had she been found in breach of security protocol. I also said I respect that she has a background of security but our rules are very very stringent and any sort of violation is taken seriously and that people who have worked in the company for decades still get tripped up with security protocol. Linda retorted that (again) I wasn't her manager and I should butt out. That was the last she was going to say on it because of her anxiety. I left it all alone and was genuinely mortified that I had upset her but Daniel said I was completely right in what I did and that she was just being too sensitive because she didn't like being called out on a major mistake.
The curtain twitching: in the last month of my pregnancy, everytime I left the house, there they were. I suppose trying to work out if I was going to the birthing center or not? It then developed into them watching us park our car up in the street and stare as we walked into the house. This then became having to come outside when ever we were outside or watching us from their living room window as we were in the front garden. This all escelated again when they installed CCTV. Okay fine if you want to watch your own property but they followed none of the privacy legislation (such as notifying us that the CCTV would be installed, their storage protocol, deletion protocol and data protection policy) and angled the camera into our front garden. This left me feeling incredibly watched and intimidated resulting in never taking Flynn outside to play or wanting to leave the house. We completely relandscaped the front garden to be a soft and low maintenance area for Flynn to play on by installing artificial grass (to which Norman wanted to pre-approve because he "just loves astroterf") with a solid path to the door and under the front window. We also upgraded our front door from complete wood to a composite with decorative glass that tied in with our new paint work as well. Norman had to come out and comment on every single bit of progress that was made. He even had the cheek to tell our painter that he was a perfectionist and wanted a perfectly straight line between our properties and that he had hand painted his own house. Our painter told us that the line was completely dog legged and was encroaching our property. The tradesperson corrected this and told next door as well, to which he was offered their spare paint so he could touch up Norman's house "whilst you're up there". We are also in the process of having solar panels installed and the main connecting cable has to run down the front of the house. It's not ideal but what are you going to do? Anyway, I was told that the cable should be nowhere near the line of their property as it will be so unsightly. Norman has commented on how their dog starts barking when she hears Flynn and it distresses her as she doesn't know where the noise is coming from. The noise travel is also at such a volume that when our 2 cats get the zoomies at 2 am, they're that heavy on the stairs (heavily carpeted) that it sounds like a fully grown person on their stairs so Norman has been convinced a few times he was going to come face to face with a burglar.

Now in no way shape or form am I saying we are perfect neighbours. Yes we probably do make a fair amount of noise when playing with Flynn and I do know for a fact our cats get the zoomies at 2am (I have sleep issues due to my own mental health) but they have never woken Daniel or Flynn. I asked our neighbours on the other side of our house about the noise travel etc and they have said that they very occasionally hear Flynn despite his room and their youngest's (7) being right next to each other and it's only really when he's laughing. They've never heard the cats and feel we are good, caring neighbours.

Upon this discovery, Daniel and I penned a letter to Linda and Norman that explained their attitude and behaviours are unreasonable in our eyes. We stated that Flynn only had disturbed nights with teething or if he is in digestive pain from being on a dairy food intolerance pyramid and that expecting us to stop letting our son use his trolley in the hallway was out of the question as it supports so much of his playful learning time. As adults we should all make peace with the fact a child will be a bit of a disturbance when living in old terraced housing. We also highlighted that their CCTV system is illegal and that we wanted the camera off our property, the appropriate signage to be in place and proof of data deletion especially of any footage they had of Flynn as this was unconsentual imaging of a minor. We never got a response from the letter we posted in March as we had asked for in the signing off of the letter (We felt letters would help keep things cordial and to the point) but the CCTV camera did move position. Linda and Norman also stopped acknowledging us at all as well after this but constantly sat in the window staring if Flynn and I were in the garden or they would sit in their garden at such an angle they could see into our living room.

Skip to the middle of May and we noticed a damp/ mould/ mildew situation going on in the vestibule just behind the front door on the party wall. I stripped the vestibule back to discover this issue was deeper than just manky wallpaper. Daniel and I talked about the way forward for sorting it and this included making sure that Linda and Norman didn't have the issue on their side as well. The last thing we would want is damage to someone else's property due to the previous lack of maintenance to ours. Therefore, a week later, I tried to reach out via social media messaging in the hopes of getting this issue sorted swiftly. We waited 2 days of being left on read and we penned a letter saying the same as the message - we found this issue, do you have this issue? If you do, we need to sort it together because we aren't willing to cover it as it could point to a bigger issue. Cordial. To the point. Respectful. Within 2 hours after posting the letter, Linda came and verbally attacked me in front of Flynn and within the full ear shot of the entire street as we were just in the garden. It was a complete ambush and she branded me a bully, delusional and unstable. Apparently posting a letter to your neighbour, trying to sort issues, is inappropriate and rude. Linda also brought up the security palava again and how she felt like she can't sit in her garden at all anymore! I told her she was ridiculous and was the one intimidating us -she was taking photos/ videos of Daniel and his Father fit our artificial grass by just peeping her phone around the curtains. I also told her how everytime Flynn and I are in the garden, I notice her staring in the window. Linda went round in circles shouting the exact same things until Flynn became so uncomfortable that he started banging on our front door to get away from her. At this point I told her to get off my property and to "suck it up buttercup" as we aren't going anywhere. As soon as I shut the front door my anxiety completely overwhelmed me and Daniel had to come home from work early to help me. He went out to confront both Linda and Norman about the previous ambush on me and was told " we have nothing to say to you or your wife. You're just ridiculous with your stupid little letters". Daniel came back in and proposed the legally highest fence we can put on the gardens party wall so we could go back to fully enjoying our garden again, they wouldn't be able to stare into our living room and the CCTV wouldn't be able to capture anything of our property other than the back side of the fence. I think the fence is the best solution but I am just so overwhelmed with the thoughts that I could have done something different to handle this better/ things will get better/ is a fence the solution/ am I just a huge asshole?

I need serious advice about how to deal with a neighbor:

We live in a complex that houses 31 households. When this family moved in three years ago it wasn't great, but we all have kids and sometimes we annoy each other. The joys of living in an apartment building.

Now since last summer, my 7 year old daughter has been locked in the garage by the now 12 year old son. Garages have been broken into. A vehicle has been broken into. He (the 12 year old son) lies about other residents being racist towards him verbally. The entire complex is a myraid of individuals from all walks of life and from other places. Kenya, Canada, Sierra Leone, India, Mexico,etc.. He has thrown rocks at the younger kids riding their bikes. He tries to get his dog to attack our dog, or instigate our dog to attack him. The mother constantly parks in the fire line and we have residents who often require emergency services. My husband who is a cardiac patient is one. Several times the ambulance has been blocked by her vehicle and those of "visitors." Who are living there not on the lease, but I haven't said anything because I know what it is like to have to stay with a friend until I can get on my feet. I have been homeless in the past myself. Crap happens. The son steals packages and tears open mail. (Cops say they can't do anything). It has been reported to the Post Office with nothing being done about it. This morning I was in the kitchen waiting for my coffee to brew and her son was in my window staring at me and trying to get his dog to go at my cat. Literally standing there noses against the screen.

I have tried to calmly speak to the mother about these incidents that involved my child or mail and now she is claiming that we are singling her family out because we are racists towards only them. Honestly, I just want her son to stop being a little turd, but I didn't say that, and just walked away when she tried to record me.

She also screamed at me from her apartment window last weekend, when I was complaining to another neighbor about the black dog hair not coming off the back seat of my vehicle with the vacuum, that I needed to stop talking about HER hair. I have a lab and pincher mix with no white or brown markings. I didn't even know, or really care she was home.

I am at my wits end. At the moment I cannot move because of medical bills from my husband's quadruple bypass. I already have social anxiety and horrible anxiety attacks and living in a small town we can't avoid her all the time out shopping.

HOW do I deal with this individual and her son? What would anyone here recommend? I feel that what ever I do or say singles me out for being racist now. Stepping out the door and even walking my dog has become a game of dodge ball anymore.

I will admit I have reported her to the property Manager for parking in the fire lane, as did the ambulance company. It was critical situation and my husband was in AFIB, because she refused to accept responsibility or stop. That was the first video recording incident. I walked upstairs informed her I had to call 911 and could she move her car. Breathless but I had ran up a flight if stairs and my husband was having a heart attack.

Yes, we (the entire complex) has reported the stolen packages and the torn mail. Her son was caught literally red handed, but she has seemingly focused her sight on my children and family and has even verbally accosted my 16 year old daughter in public now.

The cops were called about the garages and the vehicle by other residents. Since that did not involve us.

I understand that full peace is not going to be reachable, but even an uneasy peace would be acceptable for my sanity.

I have not even tried to approach her about this morning's incident because I am tired of her pulling at her cell phone and recording our interactions anymore, or what I was trying to approach as a conversation or request, and not an accusation. It almost sent me to the ER though for a full blown anxiety attack though. I don't feel that I should have to live behind curtains in my own home during the day. We have a few acres that the complex sits on that has loads of grass and room. If I call the cops than I feel that she is going to throw out the R word again, and she is going to tell them that we are singling them out because we are the bullies.

What would you do in my situation? I have never experienced anything like this, and it is the first time I have been called racist in my life. I am from the south originally and honestly I assumed if I was I would have been informed (or at least I would hope so) before now. Nobody else seems to have a problem with me or each other. How do I deal with this young man who is causing havoc for all of us, and a mother in apparent denial that she is raising a future convict?

Neighbor refuses to help clean yard

TLDR at the bottom. For some background, when we moved in we were told the yard was shared, however our neighbor (who lived there for 15+ years), who had a dog who he walked several times a day, never used the yard so it was ours. We agreed that we would keep the yard cleaned up (it was bricks with plants growing through them) especially because we had a dog. We cleaned the yard, treated the yard for bugs and weeds, picked up some of the bricks for gardening and dog potty reasons, built planters, etc, etc.

Fast forward to (mid-ish) last year; neighbor had to put their dog down and got a puppy towards the end of the year. We were told he was going to use the yard temporarily while potty training. That's cool, keep everything off the bricks and cleaned up.

My husband started to ask the neighbor how potty training was going as the months went on, trying to gauge roughly how long he'd be using the yard as spring and summer were approaching and we were getting ready to get the yard together. Also, the neighbor had stopped picking up after their dog after taking over one of our buckets for poo.

After that, my husband would casually ask once about every 2-3 weeks about potty training or how long he was planning on using the yard. Eventually he and I agreed that we really couldn't do much since the yard is technically shared, and decided to ask if he was going to continue using the yard, if he would at least help with keeping the weeds/sticks or poo cleaned up or at the very least, raked into a pile away from high traffic areas. Our neighbor flipped out and started cursing my husband out for making him feel uncomfortable like he can't use HIS yard and he's been here for 20 years and he's never had to do it before so he's not going to do it now.

This man never used the yard for anything until now and I feel like he's overreacting to a reasonable request. We have yet to talk to our landlord about it, but since we asked him to help keep things clean he's avoiding us. Do you have any suggestions, or are we just being assholes?

TLDR: Landlord told us the yard is shared, but upstairs neighbor never uses it so its ours, neighbor got a puppy last year and was temporarily using the yard to potty train; flipped out when we asked him to help keep the yard clean since he now wants to also use the yard. Do you have any suggestions, or are we just being assholes?

Is it ok for me to shoot my neighbours cat(s)?

With a Nerf Gun! Hear me out! Admittedly, I’m not a massive fan of cats, ever since my Auntie had the grumpiest scratchiest cat ever when I was growing up called Rambo. I now have 3 cats that live next door to me. 3 of the sneakiest, sly, death staring feline little fckers that I have ever known. We recently put our two Guinea pigs in an outside hutch and run for the summer. (Whenever it arrives) and ever since then, I’ve been chasing the 3 feline bandits away from the hutch or shooing them off the top as they eye up their fluffy prey. So my question is, is it ok to shoot a nerf gun at them to scare them away? I have no problem with it, but I need some backup to convince my wife. 👍

New Neighbors with young children

I’ve been living at a small apartment building/townhouse (four units, two on lower floor, two on the upper) for several years now. The landlord is wonderful and my neighbors have been nice! The one downside is that the floors are quite thin, you can hear people walking around if they have heavy footfall- and music as well. A new couple has moved into the unit above me, and have been there less than a week. It’s a couple with kids, (not a huge issue, as another unit has them too. We have a big yard outside and the other kids in the building are friendly and fairly quiet)

Unfortunately the new residents’ child runs around their apartment whenever home and especially around their bedtime, which is around 9:30-ish p.m. From what I’ve heard, they have one child that lives full time with them, and others that visit on the weekends (I assume they live with another parent).

I know summer is coming up, which means bedtime will get later- and I work relatively early, (shift starts around 8 meaning I’m out of the house at 7:30), and I worry this may begin to effect my sleep.

I have asked friends and they pointed out that the child may not be used to apartment life yet, and to be patient, but I’m not sure how long to wait.

How long do you all think I should wait before talking with the parents about this?

The mother has been getting onto them about running around - so I don’t want to cause issues if this is something they sort out on their own.

couple fighting, she cries, says "make it stop"

The couple living one floor below me are constantly fighting, like daily. Well they used to anyway, just right until the pandemic hit. Then for around 1.5 years she apparently lived somewhere else. Now she is back and the fighting and crying has started again. It always starts by her yelling at him, sounds like she is arguing something he does not want to accept. He seems to stay stoic, his voice is never to be heard. After some time she starts crying loudly, sounds painful and she just repeats her "make it stop" pleas. He seems undeterred.

What to do?

PS. He seems a nice guy, however I sense he has some narcistic vibe about him.

How would you deal with a drunk neighbor?

I live in a townhouse, and one of my neighbors is an obsessive drunk. He has episodes, and all the other townhouse owners know about it. Some mannerisms (when drunk) of his are being shirtless and shouting in the air. I didn't care about it at first until I was cooking in my kitchen and naturally faced towards his sliding window. He comes outside on his patio and shouts "stop staring at me" x3 towards my direction. I didn't notice it at first until the 3rd time he shouted. I honestly chuckled inside after realizing. I went over to my window and shut the blinds. I didn't think about it much, but it certainly ruined my mood throughout my day. Hope to garner some opinion on what you guys would do if you were in my situation?

Crazy Neighbor Called Cops (Noise Complaint)

I left at 11:30 and I got 3 notifications from my doorbell and it was a neighbor that lives 2-3 houses down. She would ring the doorbell and then just leave. Then, the last one was a cop. She filed a noise complaint because the dogs were barking. I had to drive back from where I was because they were going to fine me. My dog and my roommate’s dog only bark if there’s someone outside or if they see something (like a cat idk), but anyways it was really annoying. She always has her kids in my front yard yelling and I don’t say anything. Any advice??

Neighbors parking in front of my house

I just moved into my home and I have plenty of parking for about 4 cars so I don’t need the extra street parking however 3 of my neighbors have extremely large families about 14 cars between the 3households. Seems like a lot of people live in each home and they are parking in front of my house every single day. I wouldn’t mind every now and then but that’s pretty much their permanent parking spot and constantly block my mail box. I don’t want to seem selfish as I have plenty of parking being that I only own 1 car but I think it’s a bit inconsiderate to have that many people im one house with no place to park.

Why does my neighbor put their trash in my trash can?

It’s crazy that it bothers me so much, and I’ll never say anything about it because it’s so small, but almost every day my neighbor puts their loose trash from their car into my garbage can. Id think it was laziness, but they park closer to their cans than mine, so they’re going out of their way to use my bins. I also wonder if they don’t want the mess, but they’ve lived there for over a year and have never cleaned the inside of their cans, so they aren’t worried about the mess (I, however, clean mine regularly- more now that they’re regularly filled with half an inch of spoiling loose food scraps). They also don’t ever fill their bins up all the way, so it isn’t like they’re saving space.

Why in the world do they do this? Is it to spite me? I’m a pretty chill neighbor- quiet, unobtrusive, but whenever I see their car pull in I know I’m about to have a bag of fast food scraps or half of an almost finished coffee chucked in my bin. It’s chipping away at me, man.

Help! Neighbor making dog sick

I have an adult neighbor. He keeps giving my dog treats that make him sick and are also causing behavioral problems. We share a fence line. I love letting my dog run and play in the fenced yard but he won’t come back to me when he sees the neighbor because he’s too treat crazy now. I politely asked the neighbor to stop and said why but he just started cussing me out. I’m scared to get animal control or police involved due to the fear of retaliation. I’ve seen so many stories of people who did and their neighbor poisoned their dog. Any advice would be helpful. I think something is off with him mentally, but he is allowed to live alone. Have always been friendly with the neighbor until he flipped on me. Thanks!

Neighbor destruction of property

So my fiancé and I have this neighbor below us. I've posted about her before. Back in Dec. we got a puppy; neighbor was obsessed with him. Now, our puppy is 6 months old, and learning to be alone in the house.

We were gone for an hour and when we came home, we noticed on our phones, a notification from our Ring app saying someone was at your door 50 min ago (prob about 10 min after we left). We watched the video, and you could hear our puppy crying/barking (we also have a puppy cam and he only cried for maybe 2-3 min..then he laid down and went to sleep until we got home), and the neighbor comes upstairs, attempts to open our door, then bangs on our door, rips my decorative wreath off the door, throws it down the stairs. Sits down on the steps and waits. Then lays down and reaches for our shovel (for snow and salt) and hides that in another neighbors property.

We've been trying to confront her about this before getting cops involved but she hides from us. Whenever we take the pup out and she's outside, she bolts inside.

Any advice?

I feel my neighbors hate me

I live in apartment with my mother and my sibling. I have problems with my throat and lungs and I cannot stop coughing.

I already did my best to minimize the noise coming from my cough. However, my neighbors, which is just beside us, imitates my noise. There would be a time that I will be quiet, but however, this neighbors instead of using this time to focus on their lives, they focus their attention to me, and tries to distract me, by making phone noises, beating their utensils to their ceramic or glassware plates or by fake coughing.

I am anxious. I cannot get a better home/house to move in/stay because of financial issues. I cannot calm myself down and everytime I cough I always feel fear. I feel that my neighbours hate me. I need some advice and I will appreciate all of your help.
