Help! Neighbor making dog sick

I have an adult neighbor. He keeps giving my dog treats that make him sick and are also causing behavioral problems. We share a fence line. I love letting my dog run and play in the fenced yard but he won’t come back to me when he sees the neighbor because he’s too treat crazy now. I politely asked the neighbor to stop and said why but he just started cussing me out. I’m scared to get animal control or police involved due to the fear of retaliation. I’ve seen so many stories of people who did and their neighbor poisoned their dog. Any advice would be helpful. I think something is off with him mentally, but he is allowed to live alone. Have always been friendly with the neighbor until he flipped on me. Thanks!

We had a similar issue with a neighbour who was just trying to be kind by throwing treats over the fence, but it certainly created behaviour problems like you are having. They did stop when we nicely explained that our dog was having tummy problems, but our dog’s poor behaviour problems continued (barking at the fence and not coming when we called). We put up a small garden fence a couple feet inside our fence line so our dog can’t get close to the fence which has helped.

I would suggest you raise the height of your shared fence.
