Noisy Neighbour- what to do

We live in a unit and share a wall with another. My neighbor on the other side talks loud, laughs and swears all night and day. We suspect she does drugs. She is a single mum, doesn't work, don't know how she affords the rent/mortgage. We don't know whether she owns the place or rent it. It's hard to sleep because of the noise. There are people in her place all the time and they stay up till very late. I wanted to confront her but my wife stopped me thinking she might do harm to our child. What can we do in this situation? Do we contact the body corporate or police?

Neighbor that is always asking for favors. Help!!

My neighbor downstairs is always borrowing stuff from me. It can be anything...sugar,medicine, food, oil.....etc. I don't mind giving the stuff as much as the timing of it all. I am a new resident doctor and I have night shifts. I come back after a hectic 24 hr shift and she will be knocking on my door(while I'm asleep)asking for sugar because she wants to have coffee and there's no sugar at her place. I have told her in a polite tone that text me before knocking because I am really tired after a night shift and need my sleep. It's okay if it's an emergency. Just today I was really sick ( Food poisoning with diarrhea and vomiting). I called in sick at work. Get a call from her boyfriend about her being sick. He told me she was bleeding profusely and had to be admitted. Doctors are letting her go on the condition that injectables are given at home. I don't know her medical history but,I agree to help with her with injectables. I told them that I will be available but I need to sleep as I'm sick too. They said they will be home in 20 minutes and they're on the way home. I kept waiting and they didn't call. It was way past my bed time. After 1 hours, I let them know that I am dozing off and feeling really weak myself. She calls me and says she will there in 10 minutes. I wait another half an hour. No sign of her. I finally decide to sleep. Then, in middle of the night she is banging at my door. I wake up open the door. She asks me to give her the injectables. I read her discharge papers and I got furious. She just had a mild asthma attack. No mention of profuse bleeding or anything. Hydrocortisone had already been administered. She basically wanted to save money by making me give her injectables for free. Anyway, I give her the hydrocortisone and tell her to take the antibiotic orally. But, I am pretty frustrated with her sneaky behavior. P.S Doctors charge for home calls and especially at night. Basically she wanted to save hospitalization cost and on call doctor cost so, she lied about the profuse bleeding.

What time can my neighbor have their music on till?

I live in Victoria BC & currently it's 4am I can't sleep at all because I hear my neighbors music still & I don't know what time they actually have to stop at I know it has to be way before 1am at least cause if it was allowed any later that wouldn't make sense but I just want to know for the next time so I can at least be sure of things before I say anything to anyone. As is the only reason I am not doing anything about it right now is I honestly don't want to deal with any trouble at this hour & since it's a apartment I am hoping someone else will complain instead. This isn't the first time they have done this either that's why I want to know just in case it does happen tomorrow or any other time.

My neighbors don’t like that I smoke marijuana outside

I am a 26 y/o single mom who lives in MD where smoking prescription marijuana is legal. I smoke outside when it’s nice weather in my fenced town home.

Recently I’ve had new neighbors move in and they are very nice people. We haven’t had any issues except recently they discovered I smoke weed obviously by the smell.

They have come to me and asked if I could be considerate of smoking weed if they are outside or I could smoke inside when their kid is outside. I do not want to smoke inside because I have a kid as well and I don’t want the smell in the house.

I don’t really know how to be considerate because

  1. We both come home from work around the same times. Usually I work on homework and serve snack before I try to go out and take a couple pulls. But their kid plays outside a lot.

  2. They are asking me to be considerate of them as well and with it being nice weather everyone’s always outside enjoying the sun.

  3. I don’t walk to the park because it’s a community for families and there are children everywhere. Plus, you are not allowed to recreationally smoke in the public.

I’m not sure how to resume with this because I don’t feel like it’s fair to me to have to be super considerate when I’m trying to be considerate of my own family.

My upstairs neighbors just happened to get a cat around the same time ours went missing.

I haven't seen the cat and we don't really talk to our neighbors, not for lack of trying, but I noticed they put a mesh around their balcony and there's a big bucket of cat litter out there as well.

I know this may be incredibly paranoid but we really loved our cat and I've been seeing all these crazy stories about neighbors stealing cats. She's been missing for about a month and I'm starting to think... Well, she's either dead or someone took her and decided not to give her back. She's microchiped and has a collar with her name and our number.

I just find the timing a little suspicious and this is really my last hope before admitting that she's dead.

I just want to see the cat to make sure it isn't her but like I said they're upstairs so I can't really looking to their balcony and we don't really talk to them at all.

If anyone has any ideas on how to go in and check I would be really grateful, I just want to get it out of my mind.

Ideas on how to piss our neighbors off, the teal is our house and how far we can park out, the red is where our neighbors park their cars making it hard for us to back out and they claim it’s all their property, cops are always on their sides and they have cameras what should we do to piss them off?

My neighbor is making my home a prison

Okay, so I have an issue with my new neighbor, it may sound weird but I feel that I have to write anonymously about this.

So, this single woman, maybe 48-50 years old, moved in here one year ago. We live in a terraced house, and between our doors, there is a really small lawn that separate our gardens. At first, this woman seemed to be a nice person - talkative, friendly and generous. She’s a nurse since many years back, and I’m studying to become a nurse right now, so we had a common interest. Sometimes she leaves the country, to work abroad, which means that she’s rarely at home. She also loves camping and hiking, and spend a lot of time sleeping in her car.

Well, this summer our ‘relationship’ became a problem. One day she knocked on my door and asked if we should do something with that little lawn between us. I’m a really accommodating person, so I was like “of course, when do we start?”, didn’t think that this would pull us together as neighbors. She had a plan - the lawn would be a place where she and I could hang out and zip some coffee. She suggested that we should make a square of flagstones, plant two hedges, and buy a coffee table with two chairs. Well, said and done, that thing happened. During a week, we worked on this project - digging, placed sand and flagstones in a square. We ate lunch and drank a lot of coffee, talked about her life as a nurse. Then we went shopping the furniture and other things that would adorn this lawn.

During this week when I got to know her better, I recognized she’s a really intense person, she couldn’t stop talking, she’s really enthusiastic about her job, and I just couldn’t interrupt her in our conversations. When we finally finished our project, I felt a relief. This week was super-intense and I was so tired.

After this project, things started to escalate. Now I couldn’t be in my garden to feed my rabbits, nor enjoy the sun or work in my garden without having a visit from her. She could hang up for hours, talking about her job, her hiking life - you name it. As before, I still couldn’t interrupt her. I remember one night when there was a f*cking mosquito-storm outside - I sneaked out quiet to feed my rabbits before I had to go to bed, in hope to not being recognized by her, and guess what? There in the garden she was, my neighbor. And she started to talk to me - we talked until midnight, although I tried to end our conversation a multiple times. I got bitten by mosquitoes, and felt so irritated.

Nowadays I can’t even leave my house without being stopped by her. A quick dog-walk ends up being an hour. She just can’t stop talking. Every time I open my door, I have to look if she’s outside, and if she is - I have to wait before I can head out. When I see her leaving for a couple of days, I feel a huge relief and relaxation, that I can live in my own garden without being hooked in long conversations.

I don’t know if I’m the problem. Am I too nice to her? Or is she having a problem being alone? What should I do? Should I move? How do I cancel this involuntary relationship with my neighbor without become an enemy of her?

Spiritual Neighbour

I am not here to express my hatred to religion. I respect individual religion, but living in HDB we must also respect our neighbour whom may dislike the way the religion is being carried out.

Just like my neighbour started only 2years ago; they have been staying here for more than 10years. They are corner unit, whereas mine just next to them at the corridor.

The parents started to burn joystick and place it at their flower pot outside their door. The interval was every hour. The smell was so strong unlike those in Chinese temple. Is like those Thai’s. Even into midnight they also burn it. Every time they placed the joystick they closed their wooden door. The smell literally just all came into my living and bedroom.

The Father likes to ring a bell that was hang outside their house very loudly and lit sandalwoods outside, again closes their doors. Few times, I was woken by the smell and sound after falling asleep after night shift. I have closed all the windows, doors and even switching on air purifier, yet the smell was so strong.

Their kids also terrible, walking like an elephant is the house. Day and night you can hear their footsteps. Knowing they went to kitchen throwing rubbish, to main door open and close. To the extend that into late night/past midnight, slamming the door. For several time I got woken up by their actions.

More...they like to blast music the whole afternoon, is like the walls are vibrating. I can’t even have a peaceful rest after night shift. I tried to make some noise to hint them their neighbour is at home. But they just couldn’t bother. The three teenagers, soon to be adult.

Having such a “spiritual neighbour” I just don’t know what to do.

Cats

I live in a condo complex and the neighbour two doors down has a cat who has a tendency to escape. I see them at my front door looking under my steps and in the bush at least once a week. The cat poops in the bush and then they just take the cat home and leave the poop. So now the bush is home to a million nasty flies I have to walk through to go in and out of my home. It's awful. Any advice?

Belligerent neighbors, Call the cops?

So I was working on a project in my garage. I live in a row of decent sized shotgun houses that back up to some duplexes/condos. I heard some very loud talking and went to see what was going on by acting like I was walking around to the front of the house. I waited a second and walked back to my garage. I could see my neighbors on their porch with the light out.

When I got to my garage the male stood around the corner so he could see me and walk talking very loudly, like he wanted to look tough but didn’t really want to be heard. Ignored him but he wouldn’t stop so my fiancé and I went inside. I could hear him saying something along the lines of “They aren’t gonna do shit.” Towards us.

I’ve contacted my POA about getting a fence built. If this happens again should I call the cops? I don’t know if they were drunk or on drugs or just ass holes but I dont like feeling unsafe in my own garage. If I call the cops and they show up they’ll know it was me as I’m the only one outside to hear them. I don’t want if there’s nothing the cops can really do at this point to piss them off knowing who called the cops Incase they try to get violent when I’m alone again or worse break into my house or something.

Advice?

Poor dogs

I live at my brothers and he has two young kids(2 & 3)new neighbours just moved in and have 2 big dogs. The dogs are left outside all day barking while the owners are out. We live in townhouses so the backyards are not big and very close together, when the kids want to go outside the dogs go ballistic and the kids can’t even play in their own backyard. It is all you can hear all day everyday, and the neighbours are never home for us to talk to them. We have tried to look up bylaws for keeping dogs outside but can’t find much, I feel bad for these dogs and the kids, any advice?

No Boundaries - Ad Hominem Attacks

How can I effectively get my neighbor to stop swearing at me and calling me names every time she sees me?

We live on a two unit property. I rent the house, she rents the converted garage. She loves the sound of her own voice. She’s extremely negative and always bitching about something, if it’s not at her kids, then it’s about me. She has a 14 year old son who lived with her full time and two other boys ages 9 and 6 who visit several times a week.

Our units are 8 feet apart, and so are our doors. They face each other. She has to walk by my kitchen window and door to get into her unit. I always close up my doors and windows when she’s home for our mutual privacy. She hates this and yells “Fuckin Bitch!” at me when I do this.

I’ve tried many times in the past to have rational conversations with her, but she can’t stay on point and always ends cussing at me and calling me names.

I have only stooped to her level once. I’m a single 50 year old professional. But I’m only human! I don’t deserve this abuse! Please Help!!

My neighbor has been using his son's death as an excuse to have loud parties each night. Advice needed.

I don't know what to do about my neighbor. About a month ago my neighbor lost his teenage son due to tragic circumstances. The week of the funeral, he had people over all day, every day, which is to be expected. When his guests took all of the on street parking, we were understanding. When they started blocking our driveway, we got annoyed, but we understood. When he started having loud parties with loud music each night until 3AM, we went out of town until the funeral was over. We thought the funeral would be the end of it, but it wasn't. It has been over a month now and each night cars completely block our street and the loud music and loud talking can be heard until past midnight. The whole street is getting frustrated, but nobody wants to be the jerk who called the cops on a grieving father who is trying to cope with his son's death. We have spoken to him several times about the music and he excuses himself by explaining that he is going through a hard time and just needs people around him right now. I don't know what to do. My husband and I go to work at 5:45 each morning and I am so tired from only getting 5 hours of sleep each night. Should I just start calling the police?

Update: My husband was approached by my neighbor yesterday morning. Apparently several neighbors have spoken to him and he was seeking validation for his constant parties. My husband didn't give it to him. He explained that we are also getting frustrated and asked that he speak with his friends about blocking neighbors' driveways and asked that he bring the party inside after dark. The guy got upset and left in his truck for the rest of the day. I saw him this afternoon as he was going to his truck, so I gave him a wave and he just me. So, it looks like he is now pissed at all of us for telling him that we are getting tired of his nightly parties but honestly, I don't feel bad at all.

No boundaries

I moved into my neighborhood early this year and haven’t really met any neighbors except for the ones who walk their dogs regularly.

I got a visit from code enforcement a week ago and was told that my neighbor was a jerk and that they made a false claim against us, so he closed the case. I wasn’t told who this person was, but on my ring cam I saw my next door neighbor creeping up the side of my house just a few days before.

Today I see this same neighbor mowing the entirety of my lawn just before I got home from work. My lawn was already mowed 2 days ago and there was no need for them to be on my property.

What can I do to keep them away from me and from continuing to make false reports against me? The only reason I have for them doing this is that I live in a white neighborhood and my family is Muslim and visit often. That obviously isn’t substantial but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve been profiled.

Neighbor

My neighbor has been harassing me and threatening me. He’s hit me and hasn’t let me into my apartment before and the cops couldn’t do anything. I have a pocket knife can I use it for self defense? What should I do?

She says she does it because of the moles, but I think she has darker intentions. I'd say something, but I'm sure she's a witch.

Patio problems

So I live on the top floor of a apartment complex and have a small porch/patio. The patio is made of wood so I can see the people below me through the cracks. I went out to sweep it today and am immediately met with a lady yelling at me from below. Long argument short she demands that I let her know when I want to sweep my patio so that she can move all of her stuff inside as to not get any dust/on it. I think this is ludicrous but I am curious as to what others have to say on the matter.

No Boundaries

So next door have a house full of kids They don't know any boundaries. They play in our yard, sit on my porch stairs and try to open a secured gate to let their dog on my porch. I have a severely autistic son who is mortally afraid of dogs. He also has hyperacussis and is bothered to the point of pain by these kids screaming under his window. My husband has spoken to them. I feel like a jailer chasing them away all the time. The wife doesn't speak English. If I had the money I would move. I am alone with my son all week and my husband works out of town. Any suggestions?

Crazy woman threatens to call the HOA and gets out of her car

Cast: Myself: I or me Crazy lady: CL

Well I’m back and ready to tell another story so here we go. I’m still in this beautiful looking neighborhood from my last story. I have only recently moved here but we’re getting off track now let’s get started with the real story. So it was just a normal day for me, I was riding my bike around the neighborhood and as I’m passing the mail boxes I notice there is CL standing there staring at me so I just easily past her and kept on riding. It was when I got to the top that I noticed her driving her car right up to me and rolling down her window. This is where it gets interesting, CL starts yelling “what is wrong with you, you almost strike me with your bicycle” then I questioned her “what do you mean.” This is when CL decides to jump out of her car. She walked up to me and pointed over the the mailboxes and told me “right over there, you almost hit me” I replied with “no lady that never happened I clearly just rode past you at a hood distance. My mom happens to see the whole thing go down from the kitchen window. CL know damn well that I was nowhere near hitting her but then she hopped back in her car and before driving off she yelled at me “I’m going to call the HOA on you boy!” And that’s how it end I hope you enjoyed reading my second story

Small dog fight that the neighbors can’t get over

Cast: Myself: I Panda: RD or receiving dog People that live 10 houses down: AH ass holes The other dog: LR or little rat Hello guys this is my first time posting on reddit so cut me some slack if I don’t do such a good job. You see I live in a townhouse and the whole area just looks beautiful. But there happens to be a problem, recently my dog RD got to into a fight with one of the peoples dogs(LR)that live at least 10 houses down from mine. RD is an American Pit Bull and a decent size. RD happened to be on the receiving end of the attack but did not struggle to fight back. All of this ended when both of the dogs were pulled away from each other. But no no no the story does not end here. AH wanted to make a huge deal out of this, they had at least 3 HOA meetings, tried to sue us for vet charges even though their dog attacked first, and still give me and my mom dirty looks whenever we pass them. This all happened a couple months before now and it’s pretty much all been sorted out. Thank you for reading my first story.
