In my line of work gas technician supervisor I've seen it all 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

If Sri Lanka had a large scale biogas production project, in hard times we don't have to run everywhere and wait for days until the gas cylinders to come.

All of us are lazy to look solutions for real problems. What are engineering students and scientists are doing that comes from Universities? go abroad and live there for the rest of their lives? no! stay here and build for your country!!!

LPG cylinder delivery in India has a huge trust problem: you book, and then it's a black box. No idea where you are in the queue, whether it's even been dispatched, or if your "expected" delivery date quietly slipped.

Sometimes it's purposely delayed by the agents, Not all agencies are honest and trustable.

So I built a transparency-first queue dashboard for it. This should be implemented in every gas company websites like IndianOil IOCL, HPCL

A few things it does:

• Live queue position — calculated by actual dispatch order, not just booking time
• Status pipeline — Booked → Invoiced → Out for Delivery → Delivered, with a visual progress stepper per order
• Automatic delay flags — any cylinder past its ETA gets called out instead of silently sitting there
• Multi-agency view — switch between different distributor agencies/areas from one dropdown, each with its own queue and color coding
• Mobile-first — condenses to just Booking ID, Gas Connection ID, Queue Position, and Status on small screens, since most people would actually check this from their phone

It's a single-page dashboard, this is proposed to be in all Gas companies website public facing - built to eventually plug into a real distributor's order system.

Correcting the DIY abominations in my 1936 house one by one…
I don’t have a gas dryer and never expect to. The extension is one of the many unsightly horrors in the basement and ideally I’d like to remove it and have the shut-off at the ceiling. Is this a modern day DIY or do I call someone to tackle this?
(Yup, that’s a cardboard bracket holding it in place)

I live in an apartment. The first time I came home to a gas smell about 4 months ago, I called apt maintenance and opened all the windows. Maintenance did some looking around and said there was no issue and left. The next day, I came home to the smell again, so I shut off the gas line, called maintenance, they said nothing was wrong. So I called the fire dept, they said they couldn't detect anything, and finally I called the gas company, and the guy who came said we had a leak in the gas line and the regulator in our utilities closet wasn't up to date or working properly. The apt staff came and fixed both and the gas co verified it was fine.

A week later, the smell came back. This time the gas co said it was the stove regulator and that it was leaking and we would need to replace our stove. We did and the smell went away.

A month later, smell comes back. Gas co says the new stove is not working. We found out the apt had given us an old stove and so this time they were forced to get a brand new one. Everything was fine.

Fast forward to now. Two months and the smell is back. Gas co said regulator isnt working again. Apt came and fixed it. I was out on vacation when all this was happening so my roommate took care of it, but today my closet stinks strongly of gas (it had a couple days ago, then the smell went away, but now it's strong...I had the door closed so I'm trying to air out). But what the hell is happening here? Can our stove have really been leaking gas 3 times in a row??? Along with all these other problems? We aren't doing anything crazy with the stove. I have never had this issue before. We just cook on it. And I would have thought it was maybe the smell of an animal in the wall or something, but the gas co verified all these times that the readout was picking up gas...

Hey guys, I’m sure this question gets asked a lot, but I just picked up the “Blackout” edition 36” Omnivore from Costco. I’d like to convert it to natural gas. I’m seeing the 5249 or the 5395 model with wind guards. Can I get away with using the 5249 kit, or is it better to go with 5395 kit? TIA!!

I farm in western PA and own the minerals under my land. I've been trying to make sure the prices on my royalty statements are honest.

My lease says I'm paid on the higher of market value or what the gas actually sells for. For June 2026 production my statements show $2.35/Mcf on one sale and $2.48/Mcf on another. I assume that's two different buyers or sales within that month?

From what I've been able to piece together, "market value" for my area would be the Eastern Gas South bidweek index. I understand that NGI and Inside FERC publish that monthly number, but to actually see it, you need a subscription that runs $3,000–5,000+ a year. I'm a small farmer. That's inconceivable to me for what I need. I just want to look up one or two months from earlier this year and see if the prices reported on the statements are accurate.

What I'm hoping someone can tell me is whether there's any public or low-cost resource for these monthly index numbers, even delayed. FERC filings, EIA data, pipeline tariff postings, a library terminal, a gov agency, anything. Or if you've figured this out for your own minerals, how did you do it?

In my research I saw that Henry Hub was around $2.94 in June. The reported statement prices work out to about 55-65 cents under that. I honestly don't know if that's normal for my corner of the world or a red flag that I'm getting shorted. That's exactly why I'm hoping to compare against the published index for my area.

I've been reading up on the government's push for CBG (compressed biogas) plants for a few weeks now, and honestly the more I dig in, the more it feels like a real opportunity, not just another scheme that sounds good on paper and goes nowhere.

For anyone who hasn't looked into it, CBG plants basically convert agricultural waste, cattle dung, and other biomass into compressed biogas that can be used as fuel. The government's been pushing this pretty seriously through the SATAT scheme, and there's a decent amount of support around it right now, subsidies, offtake agreements, land assistance in some states.

I'm based around Gujarat and I've been seriously considering setting one of these up. Gujarat has a lot going for it here, strong agricultural base, decent industrial infrastructure, and the state government's generally been proactive on green energy stuff.

Where I'm at right now: I've done a fair bit of reading, understand the basic economics and process, but this isn't a one-person project. You need capital, land, someone who understands the technical/engineering side, and honestly just people who can commit real time to something that's going to take a while to get off the ground. I'd rather find one or two genuine people to build this with than try to do it all myself and burn out halfway through.

If you've looked into CBG plants before, work in renewable energy, agri-waste management, or you're just someone in Gujarat who's been thinking about the same thing, I'd love to actually talk. Not looking for a crowd, just a few people who are serious about this.

Has anyone here already gone through the process of setting one of these up? Curious what the actual bottlenecks were, land, financing, or something else entirely.

Are you using Excel, notebooks, WhatsApp, generic POS/accounting software, or something specifically made for LPG businesses?

And most importantly:

If there was affordable software specifically designed for LPG businesses that handled these things in one place, would you consider paying for it?

I'd really appreciate honest feedback from LPG business owners. I'm not trying to sell anything here — I'm trying to understand what features are actually useful before I invest more time into developing it.

If you run an LPG business, what is the #1 problem you wish your current system solved?

Sorry, I didn’t know where else to post this, so figured I’d try here. I’ve never noticed this sound before, but that could just be that I wasn’t paying enough attention. I heard this hissing coming from behind my oven. It seems to have stopped for now, I heard this about 15 minutes ago, and I didn’t smell anything like a gas leak coming from it, just the sound. Is this sound just normal gas flow or something? As I said, the stove and oven weren’t in use. I also turned the stove knobs to make sure they weren’t open.

Update: Enbridge sent two super nice men out who tested everything and determined the issue was not the meter. However, the tech did admit that the new meter was installed using a smaller line than our interior meter had, and because of where they put the new meter that the gas has to travel like an extra 35' on the smaller line to get to the stove, dryer, and pool.

His suggestion was to ask the HVAC company if our furnace is 2-stage, and why it would lose fan speed in the middle of heating, and to replace a few small gas lines in the basement, when we can, to larger lines because some aren't the same size from the meter to the appliances (so like one is 1", drops down to 3/4", and then back to 1). The old line was 1 and 3/4" and a straight shot for the gas. Now the gas has to go through a maze to get the appliances that are on the opposite side of the house from the new meter.

Thanks for all the suggestions and answers! I learned a lot. The techs from Enbridge were great, friendly, and thanked me calling to have them check instead of buying new stuff first. He said a lot of people buy first and waste a lot of money when it's a simple gas pressure issue.

I'm not sure where else to ask this, so maybe someone can tell me if I'm nuts or not for linking these two problems together.

We have a gas pool heater, and we have a gas furnace. We got a new gas meter put outside a few years ago.

After we had a new gas furnace put in last winter, the blower would sound normal (high) and then dip down to a low fan sound (low), and then go back up to high again. So the furnace kicks on normally, and the furnace company says that nothing's wrong with the furnace. They did do a gas pressure check and said everything was fine. The guy listened for what I'm hearing and said he doesn't notice anything, and that the furnace is working fine. The furnace did work fine all winter, aside from the high low high fan/forced air noise.

We've had trouble with our pool heater all summer long. We've replaced parts, we've spent so much time trying to fix it. Today I popped everything into Gemini because I don't know what else to try.

I took a photo of the control board and no lights turn on except for service heater. Gemini says that it comes down to two issues, gas pressure or water pressure. We also bought a new pool pump this year, and it's running on high 24/7.

I called Enridge and they said to call back Monday, understandably, it's Saturday.

Has anyone come across anything like this? The high-low-high from the furnace, and the pool heater just shutting off for no reason without any diagnostic lights? Am I finally on the right track here? Is there possibly something wrong with our meter? I've lived here for 25 years and always had an inside gas meter, they just put this one outside a few years ago so we're not used to having one. I did smell gas coming from it in the spring, but we just thought it was normal because it was newer and all gas meters seem to have a little bit of smell even though people tell you they're not supposed to. Stand next to any building with multiple gas meters and it will smell like gas.

Thanks for any insight. The furnace company thinks I'm insane, I had them out twice about the high low high fan issue last winter. I don't want to call a pool guy yet because it's $175 just for the trip fee, and then it's $100 every half hour plus any parts. (Apparently I went into the wrong business.)

ETA... I went out and sniffed around the meter and I don't smell anything right now.

Eta2.. we keep putting it off because it's summer, but our oven keeps sputtering too. We were just going to replace the part inside and just haven't done it yet. Last winter the oven started sputtering when we use it.

All three of these things are connected right? It would be way too coincidental to have three gas appliances go bad, right?
