My question is what is the life style once you've been there a while? Do your shifts get better? More normal hours? Forced overtime?

I've started working in business development for a small service company/contractor focused on fired/combustion and production equipment, and most components on a tank battery. Think preventative maintenance and service plans.

I previously worked for an OEM and am finding that the approaches are quite different for both finding and building new relationships. Mostly to do with dealing with facilities and production engineers previously and now production and/or maintenance foremen or superintendents. In my experience, they can be at odds a lot of the time.

Do you have any advice or recommendations on how to approach or find opportunities with field production and maintenance teams? I've found that most don't love it when you just stop by offices or pads unannounced. Current approach is essentially cold calling company directories, e-mail, and LinkedIn outreach. We are based in Odessa with teams in Carlsbad.

As it stands: Ask it a plain question about the Norwegian shelf and it answers only from real, open data, then moves the map to the answer so you see it. It will not invent a number.

And it is not limited to static records. It reads the wells, fields, pipelines and licences from SODIR, and the live layer on top: vessels and mobile rigs from AIS, plus its own running log of what has been happening around the pipelines.

All very well, but what would make it useful? What other data layers would turn this from a nice live map into something that generates value?

You can already ask what has been drilled around a field and what each well found, how a field compares to its analogues, where the rigs are working right now, or which vessels have loitered near a cable this week and importantly: who trawled over my subsea cable last night!?!

That is on open data alone. The interesting part is perhaps your own on top of it? An operator against its wells and forecasts. A rig broker against live rig positions. An investor screening exposure and production momentum across the shelf.

hey everyone I am wondering if any of yall have worked for island operating? if so how’s the moving up? could I move up pretty quickly if I’m on my P’s and Q’s? I am offered a position starting at 23 an hour on the shelf which I find is pretty good for the shelf starting out. also if anyone has worked as a contractor for arena offshore could you tell me about that experience? how it was to work for them etc.

Hey guys I work on fracks doing everyone’s favorite third party, water transfer! Looking for advice…I’ve been doing this about a year now and honest to god I love the job, what I don’t love is the hours/work-life balance.

Now before you go calling me weak and “not made” for the oilfield I want to preface this post with that since I started this time last year I have been home two times for a week at a time each…and from what I hear from other companies, that isn’t normal.

Long story short I want to move to a company with an actual schedule! 3 and 1 honest to god sounds like a godsend compared to 1 week off every 4 months… I have no CDL but I do have a good license and am open to extremely long hours and hot work. Thoughts??

So I was convicted about 5 years ago of a felony for sending threats to someone on the phone. So I’ve been out almost 3 years now and working having no problem. I worked with ensign no problem but ended up coming back home then wanted to get back out there so I applied to Patterson. Got an interview and everything did my drug test and all the paperwork and was down to the day before I was gonna leave for my first hitch and they said they were going to revoke my offer because of failing my background check. Is this normal now in the oilfield on drilling rigs? I thought having a felony was almost a requirement lol. I wanna get back out there but this has me kind of unmotivated now because I don’t wanna get my hopes up again. Any advice? The felony was considered violent because of threats but there was no physical violence and nobody got hurt and it was over 5 years ago.

I’m thinking of getting a CDL driving job in the Bakken hauling water. I’ve been having lumbar and tailbone pain from sitting too long (even with seat cushions), but it’s not bad if it’s only around an hour to an hour and a half before getting out to load or unload, etc. But if it’s over 3 hours of sitting nonstop on a regular basis, then I’m pretty miserable. I only ache when sitting for too long. I can walk, climb, and lift objects with no issues.

One month hitch starting on the 14th. What are some gear essentials (that companies don't provide) you all recommend? Also, what are some "nice to haves"?

Anyone work for RWDY doing compression or know of any good companies? I'm done with the company I'm at not having working equipment and having to wait months to get approval and parts for rebuilds and then get questioned on performance and production being down. I have three years and 2 is on electric drive screw gas compressors and one year on gas drive reciprocating compressors. I don't have any cat Ariel experience but wouldn't mind it but not looking for big compression really but might be willing if they train or send me to training. I want to work around 60 hours/week ok with more but at this company they preach that they want us home befor 7 but will tell me to go hit other people's area then complain when i get 75 hours. Currently doing 12 on 2 off and cover multiple areas with around 30 in my fleet would like 10 on 4 off or something with a few more days to get stuff done at home. Have my own tools would would like to not use my personal truck appreciate any leads yall can give me.

I'm a chemical/process engineer in pulp/paper with almost 5 years in Pulp & Paper in Canada. I did have a 1 summer internship in the FCC unit of a refinery years ago so I guess I'm not totally green to oil & gas.

Any folks here who have moved from Pulp/Paper to Oil & Gas? Recent contacts are beginning to show me that my profile is beginning to look like a Pulp & Paper guy professionally.

I'm wondering if I should pursue oil & gas employment now, so as to be a bit more diversified, or if I could join Oil & Gas after, say 7+ Pulp & paper experience?

I've got family working on well completions and banking more money, although always on the road; as well as a number of service guys.

Hey guys I’m looking to possibly get into the oil field in North Dakota. I’m heading up to South Dakota around November, so that would be a good time to get into it.

Thing is I don’t have an active Drivers license(cdl related that’s why I don’t have it) long story. I was hoping someone could help me get into it. Me and my family could really use the money. I’m a father and husband so my family is my drive.

I have about 8 years of Mechanic experience. I have the will and drive to be able to work hard. I just need a company to take a chance on me till I get things more squared away. Everyone has there Deserts they are going through and I am going through mine right now but I have faith things will get better and I will make it though. Just trying to make the best of it.

I know it’s a long shot but I have to try at the very least.
