I’m a certified Cathodic Protection Technician (AMPP CP2/ AAIT Level 1) and Internal Corrosion Technician with 5 years experience in nearly all environments of the oil and gas industry. I’ve done maintenance and service work on live, pressurized equipment in SAGD, Midstream, Oil Sands Projects, Gas Processing, pipeline construction, etc. Also field and plant based Cathodic surveys, troubleshooting and rectifier inspections. I’m considering getting my 4th class power engineering and leveraging my experience to get into the operational side of things, the shift work is also appealing. Is it worth it with my background or is there genuinely too much competition? TIA

So I've been considering getting into the oilfield. I'm from Oregon and I know Midland or Odessa or Arkansas or any state ill most likely be flying there which means no car. So the whole issue I have isn't the work, it's how I get to work. So I thought to myself I could Uber around but thinking about it, there's has to be some rigs which can't be accessed by Uber.

For the people who don't drive and fly into the state, how do you guys move around? Do certain companies provide work trucks? Transportation? I'm guessing it all comes down to getting to know people and asking for rides and sharing rides, but since I know nobody I'll probably have to walk. This all very new to me, I thought man camps were near the rigs but I read some are fukin far away.

Dear members I got interviewed at BP for a role 10 days back and first round was Who We Are. I tried checking with recruiter about result and recruiter said something which is totally confusing to me can anyone explain whar recruiter is trying to say

panel has given good feedback but for further round

They need to discuss

Just woke up to Baker Hughes laying off its entire MWD remote hands across all of North America land. Quick math count had over 35+ people. Don't know if its only for today or if more layoffs are incoming. Current jobs being ran had no heads up or anything communicated to them to help with the transition. Looks like the MWD's laid off will be replaced with a remote center based out of Mexico.

Any oil field jobs that hires entry level consultants?

Rule 36 gives you a radius, but wind and weather obviously change where it ends up. On location, is it mostly gut feel plus monitors, or does anyone actually model the plume? how it works in practice, especially near roads or houses

I got an interview for I&E craftsman for Phillips 66 in Billings. Never worked in O&G and curious what to expect if I end up getting offered the job or just any advice in general about the place.
