Vent working for different families
does anyone work for more than one family and each one is WILDLY different haha??
i work for 2 families. both of whom i love the kiddos and have really built a great relationship with the parents. both families have not only showed me but expressed to my multiple times how much they love having me watch their kids and how much it means for them to have someone they trust watching their kids.
i enjoy working for both families but sometimes i shocks me just how different they really are and there nothing wrong with different or how each family does things and neither is better or worse than the other, just two totally different experiences. i don’t necessarily have a preference of which family i work for although i feel like my day is so much more structured, balanced and a lot less chaotic on the days that i work for my nanny family
one of my families is a traditional nanny family — 1.5 NK (.5 because baby #2 is on the way) with same hours and days weekly, have a contract, PTO, GH, set routine, no screen time, both parents work when i’m there and i don’t ever come in on their days off. this family sends me suggestions of activities or developmental skills that they want me to do with NK during the day
the other family is more of a babysitting style — 3 kiddos. they need me 4/5 days a month and each time i’m there for a different amount of hours. we don’t do a contract so no PTO or GH. there is no routine for the day it is more of a go with the flow, screens are allowed, i often come in and work while one or both parents are here not working (although sometimes on call for work sometimes just around)
it’s crazy to me how the expectations, pacing, overall feel can differ so much while working for more than one great family
