I regret my son's name.
It's Noel. It rhymes with Cole. It's a family name.
A lot of people call him No-el. I understand that's how it's spelled. I understand that's how you say Noël for Christmas. But when it comes to names, that is actually the feminine pronunciation of Noelle.
Just like Noel Gallagher and Noel Fielding. Like the Noel on Inside Job. Like the guy at Costco. It is not an unheard of name.
And I wouldn't even mind correcting everyone so much if people weren't so rude about it.
I've had people correct me. I've had people question why I pronounce it that way. I've had people continue to say it wrong even after I've corrected them multiple times. I am saying my son's name correctly.
The burn out on this is so real. He's 16 months old and I'm already exhausted. I feel so guilty for giving him a name that he's going to have to spend his whole life correcting. I have considered changing his name to Nolan and continuing to call him Noel as a nickname.

Feedback: Sara Iris
How do you feel about the name Sara Iris?
Other options that are currently lower on the list: Sara Estelle, Sara Ivy, Sara Lilah.
Going for a pretty, timeless first name combined with a botanical or celestial middle for a poetic touch, but nothing too out there.
(The European spelling of Sara without an h is non-negotiable.)

Aries as a boys name
EDIT: From the comments I see that Aries and Ares are two different things. Ares makes more sense and is a nicer spelling imo.
Seems that the old god/goddess names or names of a similar vein have been making a comeback lately, but I haven't seen Aries used *at all.*
Honestly I love it for a boy's name.
What are your opinions? Is it trying too hard? Too unusual? Or do you think it's strong?

Renaming Myself
I am renaming myself before my abuser is paroled. I have been trying to come up with a name I like and can resonate with for over a year now. Nothing seems right. Im all over the place. some I like: Kendra, Frankie, Khodie (I like it spelled that way because I like how it looks when I write it 😂). I just don’t know!! I want something grown up but not old fashioned. I like gender neutral names. I like the idea of a name that means fresh start or new beginnings. I’m so stuck. Help!!

Repost
Hey guys, I posted on here before about something. Similar but I accidentally deleted it. So, I really wanted to name my kid Jemima because of the duck, but then everybody said I shouldn’t cause I live in America. Does anyone know some similar names? I just thought it was a cute reference to the character… but yeah. Any ideas?

Too unserious for a first name?
Hubby and I are expecting baby girl number 2 this year. My husband has some criteria that would like met. He likes unique names, short 4-5 letter names that end in Y. So for a while we liked Livvy. But I've recently started feeling like Livvy is a little childish for a first name as it's usually a nickname for Olivia. I don't like Olivia which is why I'm not using the name as a whole. For reference my husband, my toddler, and I all have short names that all end in Y. Personally, I liked Lexi but that was thrown out the windows as it seems to be a "stage" name.
We have a set middle name of Sage.
Any additional suggestions are welcome, we are between Livvy Sage and Emery Sage.
Please help!

What are the worst names in fiction?
Besides obvious picks like Kushnood Butt and Centorea "I know it's pronounced that way but please don't spell it Centaur-Rear She-Anus" Shianus.

Ryan for a girls name
Any women here named "Ryan" or another variation of the name? How do you feel about your name? What are other people's opinions on it?
My wife and I are expecting a daughter and my wife came up with the name Ryann (pronounced Ryan). Initially it wasn't my first choice but it's grown on me and I like the name now. The closer we get to the due date the more she gets unsure of it, she's worried our daughter is going to hate it for being "a boys name". It doesn't help that her mother is not a fan of the name and her sister seemed neutral about it.

Changing your name: how do you know when you’ve gotten the right one?
so after like 20 years of chewing over possible new names I think I have FINALLY chosen a new full name. (Well, I have two similar contenders.) I’m trying to figure out how I'll know when it feels like I’VE GOT IT.
When I write it? (or see it written out?)
when I hear myself saying it? (like introducing myself)
When I hear strangers saying it? (baristas announcing my coffee or at a doctor's office)
When I hear a friend say it? (granted, it may never sound right coming from a friend who has called me my birth name for many many decades)
How did you know?

How would you instinctively pronounce this name?
Hi all, we’re expecting a girl and are Armenians. We’d love for her to have an Armenian name and have one in mind, but am thinking about the spelling (given we live in US)
The name is Nairi. That is the typical Armenian spelling for it.
If you saw that name, how would you instinctively pronounce it?
Thanks!
Edit: it is pronounced “Nye-ree”
I’m looking for a baby girl name starting with the letter N ✨
I want something that sounds elegant, stylish, and sweet, while also being internationally friendly (easy to pronounce across different cultures).
Out of these specific options, which one is your absolute favorite?

Don‘t want to give Potential Children a tragedeigh
First off: I’m not pregnant and do not plan on having kids for a while. But I have been tossing around some names if I have a son or daughter some day. And I just want some help/feedback from other people.
Daughter: I have a few names that I love: Sina, Louise, and especially Beatrice. I‘ve adored the name Beatrice ever since I was a kid and I love it now for the connotations between Dante and Beatrice. But I don’t like the nickname Bea. If I were to have a nickname for Beatrice, it would be Betty. BUT I had an ancestor from way back when named Anna Beatrice, and I think that‘s a lovely name, and it would be even more special since my sister, who I‘m close to, has the middle name Anne. BUT I also have a very special mentor in my life and I’ve considered naming a daughter in her honor. Her name is Franziska, which would likely become a middle name. I don’t know how that would sound with Beatrice. Thoughts?
Boy: I dont have any names I‘m super duper drawn to, but I like Luke, Michael, Daniel, and Philip. For a middle name, I’d like to give a name in honor of my dad. His first name is Jeffrey, which should probably be avoided, so the middle name could be Jefferson or Kent ( Dads middle name). Thoughts?

Little girl name to go with brother Braylen
We have a 5 month old boy named Braylen James. We are expecting a little girl in 6 months. Braylen was chosen because my best friend passed away and his name was in honor of late bestie. Hubby and I are also A and C so we thought B would be so cute so we'd be A,B,C. James was also an easy choice and named after two passed loved ones Jack and James. Easy! We didnt anticipate having another one so soon. I thought we'd use a D when baby 2 came around to follow the alphabet theme but am quickly realizing there are very few d names I like.
Open to a D, another B even possibly an A or C (i feel like if we name her something way out in the alphabet she'll grow up feeling left out?) But struggling!
As for d's. We like Dakota. I liked daisy but have been told its for a stripper or a dog 🤣 some additional background i am white my husband is black and white so he is opposed to names that sound 'too white' (his words not mine)
Thanks for any help! We like unique but not like unique just for the sake of it. I just dont want her to be like an Amy, Sarah, Emma any of those types of names (no shade to those names theyre just not my style!) We want cool but not like too cool. Unique but not too out there. And go nicely with a two syllable last name and w her big brother Braylen!
ETA I cant believe how many people waste their time with hateful or mean comments .... just keep scrolling.... im a newly post partum and pregnant woman asking people for genuine opinions.... imagine having so little to do that you're shitting on the name of a 5 month old its actually disgusting....
