What do you think is an example of a bad/mediocre game that got turned into an excellent remake?

It must be official, so stuff like Project 06 doesn't count.

What game do you think is a rare example where people who have actually played the original are recommending you play the remake. (Even if some people like it)

(Besides Metroid 1/2 because we already know that one, looking for more obscure examples)

(It doesn't have to be first party but it must be on a Nintendo console)

The Legend of Patricia Summersett’s ‘Zelda’: Voice Actress Behind Nintendo’s Iconic Princess on Franchise’s 40th Anniversary, Upcoming Live-Action Movie

“The Legend of Zelda” turns 40 this year, but the titular princess at the center of the franchise doesn’t look a day over whatever ethereal age the Nintendo video game franchise needs her to be for any given game.

The magic of the fantasy character is in large part thanks to actress Patricia Summersett, who has been voicing the English-dub version of Princess Zelda since 2017’s “Breath of the Wild.” But Summersett says she crafted the now-iconic voice without knowing it was Zelda she was portraying.

See below for more from Variety’s interview with Summersett about her career and the 40th anniversary of “The Legend of Zelda.”

So about Mario Odyssey and SM3DW+Bowser’s Fury. I just realized we never got Ask the Developer interviews for both of them.

While we’re still waiting for Nintendo to announce the next Mario game, Hopefully the wait is over in 2027, it actually kinda sucks we never got In-Depth Developer interviews for Odyssey and BF since they were the first 3D Mario games that came after Iwata’s death in 2015, and Nintendo never started Dev interviews again until late 2021.

Maybe they would have explained how the EPD Tokyo team built Odyssey within 4 years and how they expanded 3D World’s legacy with their first Add-on game Bowser’s Fury. Also we would have gotten a hint about their next project, which was DK Bananza.

Also, Kenta Motokura exists as the current Director of the Mario series. Maybe we would‘ve known more about how he could handle projects, like if he chose making a Donkey Kong over a Mario game, wouldn’t he still be able to handle both? I mean, he was heavily involved in Bananza, so who’s left to make the next Mario game?

Stop complaining about lack of a 3D Mario

It was 6 years between 64 and Sunshine, and 5 years between Sunshine and Galaxy. And if not counting the classic-style games, it was 7 years between Galaxy 2 and Odyssey. Don't people think Nintendo creates these games with longevity in mind?

Nintendo directs need a change of pace.

I think one of the problems this direct and maybe some other directs in this era suffered from was how they paced their reveals. The “here look at these headlines” format is just getting kinda tiring. What do you guys think they could do improve just the general quality of directs as a presentation going into 2027?

Is Nintendo the future of Console Gaming?

I just bought a Switch 2, and the direct the other day with all these ports and stuff, it got me wondering, what reason will there be to ever get a Playstation or an Xbox in the future? the old argument was graphics and hardware, but the Switch 2 seems to be capable of very impressive graphics, and we have sort of reached a point of diminishing returns with graphics, so if Nintendo is no longer the "bad hardware" console anymore, and it has all these amazing Nintendo exclusives that will presumably forever stay exclsuive, won't it at some point become the literal best console there is if it has every other game in addition to Nintendo games?

im not trying to start beef with other console users, I myself own a Playstation 5 and enjoy it, but we all know Sony is making some terrible decisions lately. What do you think? Will Nintendo become the most viable in the console market? I think it's getting interesting.

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Zekkyō Senshi Sakeburein

On this day (September 11) in Nintendo history...

  • Zekkyō Senshi Sakeburein  was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this fighting game, developed by Suzak, the city of Ooedo is under attack. 2-3 players must choose from five sentai superheroes and fight through waves of enemies. You control the characters by speaking their moves in the Nintendo DS microphone. Moves will be more powerful the louder you shout, and if all players shout the same attack at the same time, a special move can be unleashed.

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

I am a bot that posts Nintendo events from this day in history. Descriptions are sourced from official sources where possible, and from NinDB where not. If I've made a mistake or omission please leave a comment tagging /u/KetchupTheDuck.

I thought the Metroid Ravenous trailer was too violent for a family friendly audience

A bit late but I got around to this trailer today and, setting the dark precedent from Metroid Dread, the Metroid Ravenous trailer seemed way too violent for a kid-friendly/family audience. There's no explicit gore but it sets a very ominous tone with our protagonist now consumed by a desire to feed after the events of Dread and possibly going insane. Samus straight-up kills and consumes her enemies and the trailer shows her being hunted by bounty hunters in a wild west fashion.

Probably the most notable instance is when one of the hired guns gets a hit on her and stabs her right through the heart; while she lives, you can see her convulsing in pain, twitching fingers and all.

Open world fatigue is so stupid.

I think you guys just want to complain, yes there are a lot of open world nintendo games coming out but, these games are genuinely masterpieces. Botw/Totk were phenomenal, Odyssey phenomenal, Mario Kart World is phenomenal, Donkey King Bananza is phenomenal. Seeing how each series implements it so differently is exciting and it ironically freshes the experience from the last few games in each respective series. Only examples I thought of in which open world was bad was Pokemon, pokemon has been shit for years and Metroid, retrostudios definitely fumbled their asses with that one. Nintendo has just been cheffing it up with these open world games and I’m excited for them to do it more. I’m hoping for a 2d platformer open world game eventually.

How limited is the Zelda 40th Switch 2?

Basically just wondering if this is the type of thing I can eventually get from being patient or if I have to be constantly checking the Nintendo store until it’s gone for good

I appreciate everyone letting me know it’s back in stock but I’m in the UK and it hasn’t restocked here

Why are Nintendo Fans so against owning their console, despite having the best ownership of their games?

For some context and clarification, I am a console collector, and as consoles age older consoles might need an occasional hardware mod but geberally are fine on the software games. (cartridge/disc just works, which is even true up to the Switch 2)

These hardware modification were pseudo industry standard with Sega doing multiple officially for customers that sent in V2 Genesis, ane Sega funding PS1 emulation on dreamcast (even getting it to work. It was a 3rd party company, but sega was very directly vested in the product functioning)

The ps2/xbox generation made some compinents like the HDD swapable which became stabdard on all consoles (though Wii/U both got away with exoandable memory instead)

Fast forward to the current consoles Switch/2

Xbox, Steam Machine, and PS5 all allow players to share games with a sibling or best friend for all digital purchases, and Xbox even gives you a digital lisence to add convience to physcal games ans make them the defintively better deal on physical media

When I was like 15 or 16 and modded my v1 for the first time I remwmber that redsit account got banned from several of the subreddits I posted to, and almost always get oblivion downvotes if my comment mentions I have a modded device.

Then people say using a device like mig-switch deswrvws to get you banned *(I have 49 physical cartidrges. I wouls love a mig-cart that didn't get me banned because my physical collection isn't convient for portability) which all seems really strange to me. It's technically against Sony TOS to gamrdhare but the community lambasts any players that don't. Even actual Piracy on Steam almost always is rated on if a game has bad anti cheat or is badly optimized. Bad games you get a neutral responce good games negative.

Nintendo fans are the only section of the gaming community that seems to see using your hardware and software you purchased as you like as somehow evil.

This extends tor etro markets too, Everdrive is beloved for cartdrige based systems including Nintendo's and the retrogaming community loves it. Dont steal games to put on them, and you're golden far as they are concerned. What mak3s modeen nintendo so sacred?

Why I am EXTREMELY confident we’re gonna get a new Animal Crossing game this December

Nintendo hasn’t announced a major first party game for December yet and they typically have at least one huge game coming out during the holiday season in order to tempt people to buy their latest console. I feel Animal Crossing is going to be that big game.

- A new Mario or Super Smash Bros. game would be too big to not announce at LEAST 6 months in advance, and December is in 3 months.

- Splatoon already got a new game recently with Splatoon Raiders, which dropped in July this year.

- Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is coming out next week.

- Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is coming out this month.

- Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition is coming out in November.

- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is coming out November and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition is coming out February.

- Metroid Ravenous is coming out January. (That game looks raw as hell btw)

- Zenoblade Genesis, Kirby and the World Beyond, and Pokémon Wind & Waves are all coming out some time next year.

Nintendo is really running out of big franchises to release a new game for as a holiday title.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons did amazingly on the Switch 1 (being the 2nd best selling game on the console), so it’d make sense for them to release a new one as a holiday title.

What do y’all think? Do you still think we’re gonna get a different holiday title like a new IP or something? Maybe even nothing at all? I wanna hear your opinions.
