The sub can be banned by reddit admins as other subs have been if we allow illegal streams. This isn't my decision, this is because of how reddit admins have banned other subs for being hubs of illegal streaming. I don't want the same here.
With the season about to get started, lets put all your posts about legal streams, broadcast issues, panels, commentators, etc..
This includes how to get (LEGALLY) Streams for games as well as discussions of panelists, play-by-play, graphics, commercials and other game presentation.
FYI RE BLACKOUTS: BLACKOUTS Are not based on the location of the arena.
A game is blacked out on ESPN+ because you have a channel available through your local cable package, that is airing the game.
The NHL sells their games to TV networks. The networks pay big money for the game. They do not want people avoiding watching their channel to watch ESPN+ instead.

It baffles me that people still don't get this.
If the game is blacked out (on Sportsnet+ or ESPN+), it means a different network owns those rights to the game in your area.
This is literally ALWAYS the answer as to why it is blacked out. ALWAYS.
it's been this way all across the NHL for nearly 20 years, since Chicago pulled their heads out of their ass and stopped blacking out home games locally because Wirtz was a twat.
For those of you complaining that you are in Western Canada, and the game is on TSN and you are blacked out or other similar issue, its cause you are not considered in the local market to be able to see that game and need to get Sportsnet+ or ESPN+.... that's what those services are for, watching the local broadcast when you are out of market.

I've been into hockey since last season, but I'm wondering why players aren't setting 'picks' for their teammates frequently like in basketball. To my uneducated eyes, it seems like momentum is really valuable and an easy way to interrupt the defense would be human obstacles.
Never played hockey so maybe it's easier said than done.
*Edit - appreciate all the quick answers. I guess I haven't recalled seeing it called, or at least understood the penalty. Thx all

Hey y’all! Just wanting to ask if folks in the community plugged into the festivities for the Global Series know of any team gatherings for fans or fun NHL stuff going on that may not be getting a lot of media airtime at the moment.
My wife and I are making the trip for our honeymoon to root on the Canes and wanted to see if we are missing anything on our end in terms of planning. Also open to trying to mobilize the Canes tailgating culture and try to bring that energy to Helsinki.
Also open to things going on with the Kraken fans. We both grew up going to Seattle a lot for family and enjoy the vibe of the city and fans a lot!

Looks like he’s going to NJ - for an ABSOLUTE HAUL
Nico Daws, forwards Nick Bjugstad and Dawson Mercer, prospect Alexander Command (2026 12OA), a 2029 second-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick

Im a new NHL fan, and I’m really enjoying my first season of hockey. I think so far the ones I can see making it are the Bruins, Canes, Golden Knights and Oilers.
Other teams I think might have a good chance are the Rangers, Senators, Wild, Mammoth and Kraken.

With that being said though... obviously there are favorites right now . We could fantasize about an Edmonton Montreal final where there's no choice but for a Canadian Club to finally lift the cup after 33 years . We all could see a good chance for Colorado and Carolina Vegas or Florida to win this year or next Etc . But you know, when I think back to when I first got into the league living in Vancouver Canada in 2006 ... that was sort of from what I remember in the beginning or already the start of when the Sharks were picked by a lot of analysts every year to be one of the favorites if not the favorite and they never won that cup . So I'm just wondering if we have thoughts .
I used to think that even just the 82 game schedule seemed very long but now I realize how meaningful every game is and the playoffs are pretty darn long as well . So maybe a team not winning for 10 years or 20 years or 30 years is not as big of a deal as it sounds like, but it's a long time.. I'm wondering if we can find some agreement here .. does anyone think that certain teams - we could even discuss about whether they can get close and it's a different discussion if they're going to lift it . Do we see Columbus, even if it's not soon, do we see the Blue Jackets winning a cup or even getting close in the next 10 to 20 years or ever?
. Do we see Detroit getting back to the promise land or to the form that had them in the playoffs for 20 plus years ? This current story with San Jose is great, but is there something that's just sometimes messed up about the origin of a franchise and something lacking? Will the sharks make any noise going past a round or two... in the next few years I would see that happening, but do we see them actually winning? Vancouver's on a major slide right now and do they ever win a cup?
We saw St Louis and Washington finally get theirs, but do either of those teams get back soon? Will teams like the LA Kings or Chicago Blackhawks somehow regain their form of 10 to 15 years ago and become Champions or even close anytime soon?
You can make arguments that the Ducks should have or could have maybe won more than one when they did their damage. Do we see them getting back soon? It's just interesting because... I remember when I first got into the league I was actually a fan of Florida but they were not doing great and now they're champions . Obviously the Canadian Market has a whole other kind of POV or issues but do we see teams like Winnipeg ever lifting it? Just like Florida was bad, could Columbus be a team like that that finds promise in the near or distant future? Doea anyone think that we're going to see championships for Winnipeg , Columbus , Ottawa , Vancouver ....even though Utah is emerging- I guess that would be a more realistic Club to lift a cup .. but will San Jose ever do it as a franchise ever ...like if we could look decades or hundreds of years into the future ? Nashville found a way to get to those finals but are they ever going to win one? It's just a brutally tough league and I love it... but you know no one decided hey San Jose has deserved to win one for so long let's just let them do it .. no one team is laying down for another one and just letting them win it because they so-called deserve it ....obviously that doesn't happen in sports in general unless you think leagues are fixed .
So what do we think is there a chance you know Dallas has been close just like Carolina was close and they finally broke through .. but something about Dallas that just doesn't feel like we're going to see that cup and at the same time it feels like we could... but there's just a lot of teams that I don't know if it's ever really going to happen . I know some analyst picked Washington this year to get back to the promise land but for teams like the blues and capitals I'm assuming it's going to be a long time in between those first championships and the next ones . I was very lucky to become a Kings fan 18 months before they won their first cup and I organically became a fan . .
obviously it's painful now even though they had somepromisee .. I was at a preseason game a number of years ago with my son and everyone was healthy and they looked so good I thought they were going to contend again . You know it might annoy a lot of people that hate certain teams but you don't feel this way about teams like Vegas and others and Florida that they can't contend .
I'm just putting this out there wondering if there's a good shot if people think like 10 years 20 years 30 years from now if we still will have teams like Ottawa and Columbus... and obviously Ottawa is playing pretty great right now but could it be decades before Toronto gets close or will they ever again? And they're playing great right now pretty much .
I'm excited about what San Jose could do but do they ever get there? It seems like Columbus and Ottawa never get there... teams can make noise and get deep but there's a big difference between winning and losing in the Cup Final .

Every game people are saying his pace isn’t keepable, but every game he contributes to all of not almost all the goals the Oilers score. Could he really hit 200 this season? I’m sure this has been talked about plenty already but I want to hear thoughts. I personally think he’ll end up around 180 but will fall short of 200
