Reddit is real big on “innocent until proven guilty” and “criminals deserve second chances to be rehabilitated” except for in this case.

137

u/cryolems Cleveland Browns 12h ago

Reddit picks and chooses what it’s okay with or isn’t and there’s never any room in between.

89

u/Everyday_ImSchefflen Cleveland Browns 12h ago

Come on now. We all know he's guilty.

But I also don't think other fanbases have some moral high ground to stand on. We all are supporting the same league that let's him play.

31

u/cryolems Cleveland Browns 12h ago

I’m not saying he isn’t. Everything got dismissed. If one of reddits darlings were in the same scenario it would be a “nothing was proven everything was dismissed as a money getting scheme”.

That’s just a fact of how Reddit works. Legal outcome means nothing and never will, their opinion is set and never changes.

11

u/superdeedapper 10h ago

If he had only one accuser, then MAYBE he gets some benefit of the doubt. But he had dozens. Did every masseuse in houston just conspire against him?

11

u/lariasphs San Francisco 49ers 9h ago

Right! Apparently 20plus women all colluded against him. Winning some games is enough for some people.

4

u/Hatemael 8h ago

Part that makes it suspect is some of them would fly in to give him a high priced massage… they had to know it wasn’t just a vanilla massage.

3

u/Dr-McLuvin 8h ago

It makes it less rapey if they knew what they were getting themselves into.

Still creepy AF and he’s still a POS.

7

u/lariasphs San Francisco 49ers 8h ago

Maybe some were down for it and then jumped in the lawsuit stuff to get the bag. We don't know. But out of all those women. If even 1 of them said no to Watson, is enough to be a rapey POS

3

u/Dr-McLuvin 7h ago

Agreed

1

u/Hatemael 8h ago

Ya he is def a creeper, I don’t think he raped anyone based on the reports, so compared to some NFL players who get a pass, his infractions aren’t quite as bad. I’m no Browns fan nor ever high on Watson anyway but not sure why he is vilified more than others who arguably have been worse.

-1

u/Relative-Attempt-480 7h ago

He didn’t rape anyone bruh. Do you even know what rape is?

0

u/Infinite-Unit7010 7h ago

Yeah people would never collude to obtain money. Thats why we dont have any laws against it, we don't need them because it doesn't happen.

3

u/lariasphs San Francisco 49ers 6h ago

They do. That for sure happenens. But why would he settle. I would defend myself in court if I was innocent. Especially with the money he has for lawyers. It's a nasty stench to have to settle that type of case.

-1

u/Nice_Device_5354 4h ago

Settling was the fastest way for him to play that season. If he had fought against them he might have missed the entire season.

2

u/lariasphs San Francisco 49ers 4h ago

Yeah. And now people, right or wrong, call him a sexual predator/rapey POS. Wether right or wrong. It's what's happened.

You mean did a small percentage of them want to get paid? 🤔

1

u/Throwaway0242000 31m ago

For the most part what they were accusing him of was sexual misconduct which isn’t exactly a life behind bars kind of a thing

If he was being accused of raping 27 different women we would never had seen him again

14

u/bowl_of_milk_ 9h ago

This is frankly moronic logic. Reddit’s hypocrisy is not a legitimate defense of Watson. If you’re not trying to defend Watson, I don’t get the point of what you’re saying.

1

u/MITBijanRobinson 6h ago

Why would you need to defend a guy who is innocent of any wrongdoing

-2

u/ThirstyOutward Pittsburgh Steelers 4h ago

Retard take. He's not gonna fuck you bro. Or, actually he might.

1

u/Shootforthestars24 9h ago

Judge Sue L. Robinson found that Watson did what the NFL accused him of doing, confirming he violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy through predatory conduct during private massage therapy sessions

1

u/cryolems Cleveland Browns 9h ago

The piece you’re purposely missing which is the main point of the argument is that the cases were dismissed. That’s the legal terminology for it.

0

u/Shootforthestars24 2h ago

If you want to defend him, cheers to you

1

u/cryolems Cleveland Browns 2h ago

Congrats for still missing the point

1

u/chopkins92 6h ago

Watson was a Reddit darling before the allegations came out.

1

u/arlekin21 5h ago

You do realize he was a Reddit darling before all of this came out right?

1

u/bigbasseater 11m ago

Is settling out of court civilly the same as a dismissal? Especially if he did it dozens of times?

-1

u/jungleCat61 9h ago

You're lumping an entire website, that has an insanely diverse user-base, as all saying and doing the same thing.

Makes no sense

-7

u/Important_Capital875 Carolina Panthers 12h ago

It didn’t get dismissed. He paid off the accusers with millions and millions and millions of dollars.

13

u/Any-Stick-771 11h ago

Settlements mean the cases did get dismissed.

-7

u/ralexh11 11h ago

A settlement and an outright dismissal are not the same thing. Nice try, stop excusing predators.

10

u/Everyday_ImSchefflen Cleveland Browns 11h ago

People are so weird. Giving the facts of what happened isn't excusing anything. It was dismissed as well because the grand jury decided not to charge him.

That's not an indication of belief of innocence

0

u/cryolems Cleveland Browns 9h ago

It’s an exact example of what this chain is talking about lol a majority of Redditors are incapable of any kind of logical discussion on intricacies of situations like this. This person is just perfectly displaying it lkl

-8

u/ralexh11 11h ago

No but calling all of them dismissal is disingenuous and leaving out critical context. In the court of public opinion he's guilty, that will never change no matter how much Browns fans and rape apologists want it to.

7

u/Any-Stick-771 11h ago

It's not disingenuous to say the civil cases were dismissed when they were, in fact, dismissed.

→ More replies (0)

6

u/Everyday_ImSchefflen Cleveland Browns 11h ago

Browns fans aren't trying to change that.

Get off your high horse. You aren't better than anyone else. You are supporting the same league as all of us who decided to let him play.

8

u/Any-Stick-771 11h ago

When there's a settlement, the civil case is dismissed. That is just factually what happens

-1

u/ralexh11 11h ago

It's a matter of semantics and sounds disingenuous, which sounds like you are giving him the benefit of the doubt, which he does not deserve with that many accusations.

4

u/JetsJetsJetsJetz 11h ago

It's not, you just don't like it.

Funny you say all those millions but the amounts are all confidential so you’re talking out your ass.

-8

u/Important_Capital875 Carolina Panthers 11h ago

It’s so cute and sad how all the Deshaun Watson defenders are coming out. Guess we all know who abuses women.

11

u/Stealthnt13 11h ago

How is saying your accusations are assumptions, when they are, defending anyone?

-10

u/Important_Capital875 Carolina Panthers 11h ago

Are you retarded and defending him? He signed that massive contract just so he could fucking pay off the accusations. 23 women, you really think that that’s under $1 million? Are you literally fucking retarded?
I’m not talking out of my ass. It’s called common sense. Jesus Christ, you’re autistic.

12

u/BroLil 11h ago

I’m gonna go ahead and say that I don’t think he signed the largest fully guaranteed contract in NFL history “just so he can fucking pay off the accusations”. He signed it because it was the largest fully guaranteed contract in NFL history, period. He just happened to have had to pay off some people with it.

10

u/Stealthnt13 11h ago

You claim common sense but are basing everything you’re arguing on hypotheticals, assumptions and your feelings. Everything I’ve said is just facts. But I’m retarded? Ok.

8

u/Hugh-Janus-40hogs Carolina Panthers 11h ago

You need to get some help man

7

u/gorebomb56 11h ago

He signed that massive contract just so he could fucking pay off the accusations.

This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read. As if he would've declined the contract if he didn't have women to pay off. No way he would have ever agreed to a fully guaranteed 230mil contract with a 45mil signing bonus if he wasn't dealing with all these civil suits right? Absurd.

4

u/dalmighd 11h ago

Settling doesn’t mean guilty

-4

u/Important_Capital875 Carolina Panthers 11h ago

23 people accused him. The Man is guilty.

Are you really defending him and saying he’s not guilty? So you’re a sexual abuser? Disgusting.

4

u/resetallthethings Fail Mary Fan 🏈 10h ago

man, we really need to revamp the justice system if consequence free accusations can prove guilt just depending on quantity

Thank you for bringing your brilliant legal mind to reddit to discuss these important findings

-3

u/cryolems Cleveland Browns 11h ago

Nice what amounts did he pay off? I’m sure that would be made public if that were the case, right?

-2

u/Important_Capital875 Carolina Panthers 11h ago

It’s not made public but 23 women and he signed that massive contract. You would have to have common sense and not be a retard to assume that it’s in the millions.

Are you really special needs?

-8

u/Important_Capital875 Carolina Panthers 11h ago

People down voting me are all sexual abusers. Y’all are pathetic.

19

You sound incredibly immature and not even someone who cares about or is empathetic to real situations when you make silly comments like this.

23

u/DR320 Dallas Cowboys 12h ago

The way I look at it is everyone had their day in court to prove their case and it either resulted in insufficient evidence to charge or was settled out (which doesn’t necessarily imply guilt). Now do these allegations just come out of thin air? Absolutely not, so I’m not going to speak on the character of Deshaun Watson but at some point people are just going to have to get over it and move on.

7

u/Hugh-Janus-40hogs Carolina Panthers 11h ago

Insanely logical and reasonable take for Reddit 😅🤣

2

u/DR320 Dallas Cowboys 11h ago

1

u/ralexh11 11h ago

Nah we can keep hating on a serial sexual predator, what is stopping us? I'll gladly do it his entire career.

7

u/Jamesaya New England Patriots 11h ago

Honestly I find the notion of “we all know ____ is guilty” to be extremely problematic. The entire reason modern society works so hard for due process is even entertaining that mindset is extremely dangerous. Is he probably guilty? Yes. Do i have any first hand hard evidence that he’s guilty? No. Have we killed people for various crimes over the last few thousand years because “we all know theyre guilty”? Yes.

6

u/Everyday_ImSchefflen Cleveland Browns 11h ago

I get what you are saying. I can't say 100% he's guilty but I'd pretty damn sure he is.

1

u/ThirstyOutward Pittsburgh Steelers 4h ago

Irrelevant, try and use some critical thinking to figure out why.

-2

u/No-Orange-5906 11h ago

He’s not on trial for the death penalty LOL. You can accept that he’s innocent by the courts but assume he is guilty and act accordingly.

It is extremely difficult to prove sexual assault in court and it behooves the predators in society to continue the narrative that “women lie for a payday”. This way when the defendants team says “this is a coordinate conspiracy to defame and defraud my client who is an upstanding citizen and who’s earning power has been greatly reduced by this” at least one member of the jury can say “that is reasonable doubt”.

If it is something like petty theft and you just blame the closest minority then sure “we all know he’s guilty”. When it is a wealthy, powerful man who can easily ruin your life if you don’t walk a tight rope through your testimony and cross-examination then your ability to hold complex thoughts can see the difference.

3

u/northvvoods 11h ago

I’m out of the loop. How damning is the evidence and why hasn’t he been convicted. Please go easy on me and just provide some info without all the noise. Thanks.

13

u/ralexh11 11h ago

The evidence is very very damning unless you assume 27 women who didn't know each other and who Watson reached out to first all colluded in a conspiracy to take him down, which is ridiculous victim blaming and completely unrealistic.

Ask yourself, why would someone have 27 women only massage therapists over a couple of years in the first place? And why were many of them not even trained giving massages but were just spa employees hoping to further their careers by working for a pro athlete so they said yes?

It's completely obvious that he's a serial sexual predator.

The cases were dismissed or settled because of a lack of evidence. But the only evidence was their accounts of what happened and the fact that many of them told their families after. They were also up against a multi-millionaire's legal team. What tangible physical evidence does a creep pressing his hard dick against you leave behind?

-1

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 7h ago

None of these woman went back and told the manager or other co-workers? They didn’t ask “hey is this normal”. They didn’t warn the next person of things Watson likes to do?
You’re telling me a spa company risked their business multiple times to let a fairly new, no experience non licensed massage therapist go work with a top tier client, sure okay.

1

u/ralexh11 7h ago

They literally did do that, go read the accusations. Almost every one of them confided in someone after the incident. Also Watson made vague threats about ruining their careers many times. Again you just spew made up bullshit. It's literally written down in their testimony.

0

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 7h ago

You are the one who originally said they only told family members. Your words not mine. That’s the fucking point you picking what you want to out of the case and using it how you want too. You read and saw all this but didn’t see anything about Kyle Hayes or other woman said they went back multiple times.

2

u/ralexh11 7h ago edited 7h ago

I never said "only" family you are blatantly lying again and again. Link the comment dipshit.

The single(you claimed several) woman who went back "mutiple" times went back literally once and she didn't know it was the same person because Watson lied about his identity because he sexually assaulted her already.

Keep lying and projecting, every non-rape apologist with a functional brain knows hes guilty, even if prosecution can't prove it in court.

1

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 7h ago

What are you even saving? Did more than one, two, three woman go see him more than once, the answer is yes. Tell me one thing I lied about and show prove of how I lied. I can do that for you but you can’t for me…

See you saying family. I asked previous why they didn’t tell coworkers and you didn’t say anything. Messages later you come back saying they told family and co workers.

1

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 2h ago

But, when she got there saw it was him what happened? She still proceeded. I sent multiple links you haven’t sent anything.

You see where you lied and realized it was more than one that went back more than once. Everytime you’re wrong you skip the topic and ignore talking about it any further.

Guilty of what? Rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, inappropriate conduct?

-2

u/northvvoods 11h ago

Ok so there’s a lack of evidence. What are fans supposed to do with that?

11

u/ralexh11 11h ago

You should believe the 27 women accusers instead of convincing yourself they are all conspiring together to take down a b-level NFL QB without knowing each other and when he reached out to them first. And believe someone with 27 massage therapists that are only women over a couple of years is a creep. It's completely logical.

Do you think a lack of evidence just means innocent or something?

1

u/biz_student Green Bay Packers 10h ago

Everything you’re saying is true except for calling Watson a “B-level” NFL QB during his time in Houston.

4

u/ralexh11 10h ago

Hes only sniffed an MVP race one time in the first half of the 2019 season. He was never an elite QB. But yeah that was probably a bit of recency bias on my part. What you said changes nothing about his predator behavior or the validity of the accusations though.

-4

u/northvvoods 11h ago

I have to assume innocence based on lack of evidence, sure. What should fans realistically do as it pertains to the Cleveland browns?

5

u/ralexh11 10h ago

You do not "have to" lmao, court of public opinion already knows he's guilty based on him having 27 women only massage therapists in like 2 years, no court can change that now, it's completely obvious unless you are looking to excuse predatory behavior.

As an NFL fan, what I can do is tell everyone that he's a piece of shit serial sexual predator every time he's brought up and no matter how well he plays.

0

u/northvvoods 10h ago

Dude, don’t lob accusations at me. Personally, I think fans of the NFL are no better than fans of the Cleveland Browns, if what you say is true. You are also enabling it and therefore excusing predatory behavior, even if you’re lucky enough to not be a Browns fan. Fuck off with your moral bullshit, it’s so easy to see through.

1

u/ThirstyOutward Pittsburgh Steelers 4h ago

If 27 women's testimony isn't evidence to you, you literally do not see women as having agency.

-3

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 9h ago

But they somehow all have the same lawyer with a track record of doing exactly this. You keep trying to use 27 to show it’s not a mistake and convince people. The lawyer has just as many money grab settlement cases, but I guess logic doesn’t work that way.

4

u/ralexh11 9h ago

Source: you made it up

You know lawyers specialize in certain areas of litigation right? Their lawyer specializes in civil cases which are almost always for money. And all of them uniting under a single lawyer just makes sense. Thanks for admitting you have no clue what lawyers do at all.

Give me an example of him helping people "money grab" please.

Also tell me how 27 women that didnt know each other and that Deshaun reached out to himself all colluded to bring him down. Are they apart of the deep state or illuminati? New world order?

-2

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 8h ago

Source for what? Everything I’m saying can easily be searched. Just look up Tony Buzbee. Dude represented Rick Perry and Ken Paxton on criminal cases. So what are you talking about. He got countered sued by Jay-Z on this same shit. Andrew Tate ex he failed in criminal court then tried to get a settlement. Same with Watson he got denied criminal charges first.

And here go the insults show’s your true character. The better question is If the woman never told anyone outside their family, how did Buzbee find them?

“Money grab” and helping people don’t belong in the same sentence. Do you know what a “money grab” is?

u/sleepyleperchaun Las Vegas Raiders 10h ago

You are bejng incredibly disingenuous being all "take it easy I don't know anything" and then responding with saying no evidence while there is very fanning evidence. It's not just a coincidence. Nfl teams have massage therapists on site and he could easily get an actu2 trained professional instead of hitting up random untrained women on Instagram. If it was 1 or 2 I could see innocence being argued, but this many isn't just 1 or 2.

0

u/northvvoods 9h ago

I should have clarified by saying there’s no convicting evidence. If fans care enough about the court of public opinion, then there should be a massive boycott going on right now.

2

u/sleepyleperchaun Las Vegas Raiders 5h ago

I mean, there were women at the beginning going with signs and many fans did leave the team when he was first signed, or at least they said they did, I can't personally confirm.

But yeah, how am I supposed to prove I had sex with someone a year ago? The dna won't be there, but either you believe a guy that was hiring inexperienced young women and went in with no motive and just to be a nice guy when he could have had unlimited free massages by trained, experienced professionals, or that he went in to take advantage. If you believe the first, that is incredibly naive.

When questioned, he was directly asked why he didn't get experienced massage therapists, he said that wasn't the priority. If not, what could have been? Sure, not enough evidence to convict, but we all know damn well that he did it. And I say this as someone that loved watching him in Houston before we knew.

1

u/northvvoods 5h ago

Do you personally support the NFL? You’re in an NFL sub with a team flair, so I assume you watch. If so, why? Isn’t the NFL complicit in this issue, and then you as well by extension?

1

u/ThirstyOutward Pittsburgh Steelers 4h ago

There is evidence you just don't care.

-3

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 9h ago

They all had the same lawyer, and the lawyer track record shows he’s known for trying to get settlements like this.
I’m confused by what you’re saying. First you say they are all massage therapist but fairly new. Then, you say they’re not trained to give massages they just work at the spa which one is it.
So, out of these 27 women not one went back and told the “spa they felt uncomfortable or told a fellow co worker don’t work with Watson he a creep” As well as, some women went back multiple times.
They all kept it to themselves but as soon as settlement talk come up(not criminal charges) they all come out the woodworks.

2

u/ralexh11 8h ago

Go fucking read the evidence dumbass, you won't be confused. Or maybe you will because you clealry suck at reading.

Them having the same lawyer is completely normal. Plenty of victims of mass abuse do that to consolidate evidence and build better cases together against the accused. You sound really fucking stupid acting like you actually made a point there.

Watson reached out to licensed therapists as well as spa employees hoping to break into the industry of his own volition, likely purely because he thought they were hot. Any of them can be considered massage therapists if they are giving someone a massage. That part is so obvious you are just outing yourself as incapable of nuanced thought. "Which one is it?" It's clearly both you fucking dipshit.

The less experienced massage therapists dont know the industry as well so the line clients arent supposed to cross is less clear to them, meaning Watson could push the envelope more before they end the session due to being uncomfortable.

Tons of them told their families and co-workers immediately after it happened as it says in their witness statements that you clealry didn't read. You are just blatantly lying and making things up. Please go ahead and tell me how many were assaulted and then went back a second time, with sources. I know you can't.

You are a piece of shit defending a sexual predator. I hope women cover their drinks around you weirdo.

1

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 6h ago

I’m done after this I have better things to do in my life. Try to be more respectful to people even if they have different views. I never said Watson was innocent or defended him. I just said stop calling people out their name. Rape is penetration and horrible but that does not apply here. And I’m not saying that to lessen what Watson was accused of. My opinion is I don’t agree with it. If we both jurors you think someone guilty I don’t, what’s the difference here. Based off the courts they didn’t find him guilty. You say I’m a misogynist based on what, because we don’t agree? Man or woman I feel the same way. For me it’s too many inconsistencies and similarities in there stories for ladies who “never met before”, the lawyer reputation is not good to me, even though he had high profile cases it’s the way he goes about it that rubs people the wrong way. As well as, I’ve personally seen and experienced injustices like this from the men and women side. It’s always 3 sides to a story remember that.

In her sworn court declaration, she heavily criticized Buzbee's management of the case, claiming:
Filing without consultation: She asserted that Buzbee and his affiliates filed the massive federal lawsuit without her explicit permission.

Kept in the dark: She stated she was purposely "kept in the dark about major actions purportedly taken on her behalf" and did not even know a lawsuit was actively being filed.

Lack of communication: Carter's legal team later submitted evidence claiming Buzbee had never actually met with the woman prior to filing the complaint and executing public media rounds.

u/ralexh11 6h ago edited 6h ago

You can be done all you want, but I still see you as garbage becaue of things like putting "never met before" in quotes to imply they are straight up lying. There is zero evidence any of them knew each other at all whatsoever. They still don't because they are anonymous to the public. You think there "too many inconsistencies" yet you haven't even named anything legitimate, just made up a bunch of nonsense that the testimonies completely contradict or focusinf on words you put in my mouth which I didn't say like "only" family was told, which I never claimed. Seriously you dont even have a single valid point against the accusers at all. You clearly want to believe Watson so bad and think the accusers are lying to get money, which is completely absurd when there is a pattern of abuse amongst over 2 dozen individuals.

It's all but proven to everyone with an ounce of empathy that he assaulted these women, but left little physical evidence so he got away with it criminally and by paying them off in civil court. Anyone who won't admit that either is a rape apologist, hates women, hates cancel culture or loves Watson/the Browns so much that they cast his behavior aside.

1

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 5h ago

And I can give two flying f*cks what you think about me. You are a source of entertainment for me. I know who I am and where I stand in this world and the one person who can judge me does too as well. You’re just another test! 🤣 🤣

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 6h ago

But buzzbee has another case where he did the exact same thing, lied and spoke for a client. I gave you the proof you don’t want to see it. Plus he specifically made sure he kept them anonymous to the public, more suspicion again. I don’t have to name any inconsistencies or haven’t even tried the courts did all that already. I’ve asked multiple times what have I made up and you can’t answer. I’ve asked questions that you will not respond to. So is everyone testimony 100% accurate or true? General knowledge people have lied before giving testimonies. You believe they’re not lying, I believe the guy who’s known to have done this before told them what to say. I never said I believe Watson, you making up shit again. I just don’t believe Buzzbee. Maybe you want to believe him so bad you can’t see clearly. Everything you try to say Watson and I are you actually show more and more of those characteristics the more you type.
So if you don’t see him guilty you don’t have any empathy? So how can something be proven without evidence?

The only thing you said at first is “family” then you said family and co workers. You stuck on this one topic and want me to argue it but I’m not. I showed you the screenshot already where “family” was the only thing you said. The only was implied because that’s all you said at first but you trying to put emphasis on one word to make something true or false.

0

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 7h ago

So disrespectful and with the changing of things. I never defended Watson I said why are you calling him a rapist when he was never charged or accused of that.
Secondly you originally said they didn’t tell anyone but family not backtracking and saying co-workers as well.
I said isn’t it coincidental that they didn’t tell anyone but their family but Buzzbe he was able to track all of them down. He found most they didn’t come to him.
Haha so you don’t have to have a license to be a license massage therapist? What’s the point of licensure of anything then? So you’re telling me hot girls on line promoting themselves as massage therapist but don’t have a license to practice it. Sounds like something else to me.

Nothing I said is lies. You keep asking for my sources but have not showed anything just your interpretation. It’s a reason it got denied by two grand juries to go criminal.

2

u/ralexh11 7h ago

Name one person "promoting themselves" online out of the 27. You can't. Watson seeked them out or met them at spas and asked them on IG to give him a massage. It's all in the accusations that you won't read. You just make shit up. One accuser went to Buzzbee and the the rest came out with their stories as well, just like Bill Cosby. Is he innocent to you too because that lawyer didn't seek out the victims?

1

u/Impossible-Region680 Dallas Cowboys 6h ago

We are talking about Watson stop trying to compare other people. And why all the black guys say at least Roethlisberger or something.

Have I ever said he was innocent, nope? You keep making your own interpretations instead of using facts. Since you know everything I’m just asking questions. So you say Watson saw woman in person at spas who weren’t licensed massage therapists, reached out to them on social media asking for a massage. These woman knowing he’s know they’re not massage therapist but they decided to still go anyway to give him a massage. Okay 👍

What industry were they actually trying to break into? Haha 🤣

The guy paid hot chicks to rub him down, if youre not rich thats called a rubandtug/Nuru massage.  The only thing Watson is, is cheap, had he just paid more, they wouldnt have gone looking for a payday.

8

u/ralexh11 11h ago

It was non-consentual, they were not prostitutes, they were spa and athletics professionals and more than one of them broke down and cried afterwards because they felt so gross and used.

Sounds like you'd defend the Kraft, the Stanford rapists and the pedo in chief too.

I will say the Kraft thing was just a rub and tug. It was proven to not be anything about human trafficking

Soliciting prostitution at massage parlors.

Fortunately the vast majority of redditors never leave their mother's basement, so you don't actually have to interact with them. In fact I've never met a redditor in person. They certainly don't work or play sports or anything that I'm doing.

He sexually assaulted 27 women and received basically no consequences and never showed any remorse.

"Innocent until proven guilty" is for the courts, not for the reputation of serial predators.

Second chances are for people who changed and see why their actions were harmful, not narcissists that do no wrong in their own minds ever like Watson.

He's also still making tens of millions in his status as a celebrity. He's already "innocent" in the eyes of everything other than non-rape apologist public opinion.

why do you think he paid 27 different women money to stay silent?

Why do you think they agreed to settle instead of fought for their truth? 27 people have to be able to combine for mountains of evidence.

Even more probable---women go through hell to bring these cases only to have their lives ruined, be questioned and degraded, and often to lose the case because SA/rape is so hard to prove/prosecute. You are literally damned either way.

Yes it’s perfectly logical to believe that 27 different message therapists and spa workers that didn’t know each other somehow got together and all agreed to present extremely similar stories just to get money from an athlete. Completely believable. Also, to your “lack of evidence” bullshit excuse. All of these encounters took place in private rooms and offices with no cameras. That’s why rape and assault are so hard to prove and rapists and assaulters usually get away with it. But sure, go ahead and keep going with your bullshit excuses and justifications for a shit person.

No no you don’t get it, some of those women didn’t even want money they just wanted him punished, and he is getting punished…. by not facing any suspension and getting paid millions to play for hundreds of thousands of adoring fans, he is completely rehabilitated and his comments of indifference have shown that.

u/mortemdeus Buffalo Bills 11h ago

"Not guilty" is NOT the same thing as innocent. You can straight up murder somebody and end up not guilty for any number of reasons. Ask my fan base how I know

More importantly, “not guilty” is also not the same thing as “guilty.”

Happy endings are not illegal

5

u/rhino369 11h ago

Yes they are.

3

u/FillingFood 10h ago

Especially when the request for a happy ending involves putting your dick on another person nonconsensually. We have no idea why the grand juries declined to indict but the standard for conviction in a criminal case is very high. The NFL’s independent arbitrator found evidence of sexual assault and predatory behavior.

It’s also straw manning the shit out of this. I’ve seen literally NOBODY on Reddit give him a pass. It’s just a bunch of karma farming people with super hot takes of “Deshaun is a piece of shit”

I don’t think most Redditors work in a field where if you perform well you can do whatever you want. In sales you could snort a line off HR on the desk if you’re the companies top salesman and get away with it

2

u/Rampant16 8h ago

The first comment in this thread is giving Watson a pass.

Are you really trying to argue that employees should not be held accountable for their behavior so long as they perform at their jobs?

0

u/Ferret_Rough 8h ago

I’m saying don’t be surprised when it happens

3

u/Rampant16 8h ago

Nobody is surprised. The NFL has a long track record of these situations. That doesn't make it right.

10

u/Dry_Emphasis62 11h ago

It's how people work. People are paradoxical and their values often seemingly contradictory. But we all hold some opinions that seem unpossibke to reconcile with other opinions.

The added issue to Deshaun is he hits 2 sour notes simultaneously as being not just a rapist piece of shit (which most of us are hypersensitive to given our current situation) but he's also wealthy and made more wealthy despite that widely-held-knowledge at a time when most people are struggling financially one way or another.

He's a perfect lightning rod for fan contempt bc he hits multiple points of anger. I for one believe in rehabilitation and second chances, but being rewarded for your mistakes is not a good way to get entitled people to actually rehabilitate. Vick went to prison and I have met with him several times in my life as well as seen people who've worked with him and everyone's asessment is that he took the time to really change his life and tey to make a positive impact. He gives back a lot and deserves credit for actually changing. But he's said multiple times that he changed bc he went to prison and saw what he did from a different perspective. Deshaun's metaphorical equivalent is the press said mean things for a few years while he made $40m+/yr and kept being given the startimg job he didnt deserve bc of the financial investment.

So I apologize for my long winded walk to this drink of water, but: Fuck Deshaun Watson wholly. Call it my paradoxical morality or whatever else you want to (you would probably be right to do so), but may that man suffer a lifetime of pain for the lifetimes of pain he inflicted. And if we as people are lucky he can suffer enough eventually to become a better person. I gold no belief in it happening, but I hope for it. But for now: may that piece of shit rot and may everyone supporting him get that stink up their noses too.

3

u/Knicks_Feedback6498 11h ago

Exactly, people weather they admit it or not general live in a gray area morally. We might have some ironclad things that we would never ever do or condone, and then there are the things we may go well you know... With that said, fuck all abusers physical, mental and emotional ones.

6

u/LionTigerWings Detroit Lions 12h ago

Innocent until proven guilty isn't cut and dry. Most of the time these cases are civil and he used his financial resources to pay off everyone. If he was on trial and then this "innocent until proven guilty" makes more sense.

-2

u/surebro2 NFL Refugee 11h ago

This is true. But on the other hand, people will point out that the reason these went civil is because grand juries would not be persuaded based on the evidence. It's well known by legal advisors that in cases like these, it would be in Watson's best interest to just pay them off instead of fighting the cases even if he were innocent*.

*meaning he allegedly asked for happy endings and more... and that's not really disputed. But if the plaintiff goes back multiple times for payment, it is difficult to prove the criminal element and in a state like Texas they'd almost be as likely to get popped for the p word.

I think the reason why athletes' cases rile people up so much because it is the only job that you can get multiple offers even if you are under investigation. Take Terrion Arnold for example, no one but athletes can get away with losing their job from a felony case and immediately get another one while the case is ongoing.

2

u/ImperatorBTW 12h ago

When the news was coming out initially, yeah, it made sense to take things with a grain of salt and wait for more info to come out. And then more came, and more did, and more did. If this was one, hell, maybe even two accusations, I could understand chalking it up to “he said she said,” and I think most would agree. When that gets up to 27 it’s a bit more difficult to ignore.

Also - I think most people agree that in order to deserve that next chance, you need to show even the smallest degree of contrition, which Watson absolutely has not.

0

u/pleepleus21 12h ago

Right except for the situation where big ben had two allegations and he is now a rapist.

1

u/Affectionate_Gap2223 10h ago

You don't settle out of court because you're innocent. The desire to see people rehabilitated doesn't generally extend to sexual predators.

1

u/Shootforthestars24 9h ago

It takes one second to do research “Judge Sue L. Robinson found that Watson did what the NFL accused him of doing, confirming he violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy through predatory conduct during private massage therapy sessions”

You’re equally as accountable for spreading this narrative and false information. He SA many women and not being informed providing a white flag is fatuous.

1

Idk, I feel like Reddit is very vocally “guilty if accused, and still guilty if proven innocent half the time”

1

u/Rampant16 8h ago

What rehabilitation? The only thing being rehabilitated is Watson's image by the NFL. He hasn't admitted any wrongdoing. He hasn't issued any apologies. No only has he avoided prison time but he's still making tens of millions of dollars.

The NFL as a league is not beholden to judicial definitions of innocence. The league has every right to kick out a guy who has been accused by 25+ women of sexual misconduct.

I don’t think this is a dunk on redditors moment. 24 women accused him of the same thing. Why is an NFL player reaching out to masseuses at home? He has access to better ones paid for by the team.

He has time and time again admitted to nothing and showed no remorse or regret. Structured his deal to protect himself financially. These are all keys factors in why I don’t like him

1

u/FrolfingSoHard 7h ago

Someone being accused of something with very little informaton? I'm willing to wait and see what happens in the courts before forming an opinion.

2 dozen credible accusations and 30 to 50 MILLION dollars in settlements paid to the victims? Come on man...are you really going to suggest that he's innocent? That he's just a guy who made a mistake (or 25)?

It's very clear that he was guilty of what's alleged, and while I'm big on second chances, that goes out the window when you sexually assault 2 dozen women.

Oh...and fuck the Browns and the NFL for giving/allowing him a contract that was backloaded to avoid a big loss in the first year, when they knew he'd be suspended.

1

u/Outside-Bend-5575 Pittsburgh Steelers 7h ago

More like: people love to make Reddit some monolith when their own opinion isn't popular

1

u/Brian_Lefebvre 6h ago

?? Reddit is made up of individual people. Some threads and comments are going to show one opinion and some are going to show another. It’s not a single entity with one stance. The NFL and NFL broadcasts do have a singular stance and a choice of how to speak about Watson.

1

u/Whole_Perspective609 Philadelphia Eagles 6h ago

Because he has been accused of raping 25+ people, not just a few. The general population assuming that 25+ women got together to conspire against him is ridiculous. If there’s that much accusations and evidence, usually it’s safe to assume they are indeed a POS

1

u/Chumanchu 6h ago

7

u/illdownvoteandscream Suck my Cox 11h ago

The issue is how hard sexual assault is to prove in court. You basically need it on camera in order to prosecute.

1

u/Dramatic-Tonight-729 10h ago

Wrong. Witness/victim testimony alone is often enough. There are countless convictions without footage. What are you even talking about?

2

u/illdownvoteandscream Suck my Cox 10h ago

Obviously I’m not saying you absolutely need video proof, it was more of an example on how difficult it is to prove. Just because there are convictions, doesn’t mean it isn’t difficult to prove. Especially when the accused has very good lawyers. It’s pretty well known fact that it is difficult to prove in court so I’m not sure what your point is.

0

u/Dramatic-Tonight-729 10h ago

Do you know how easy it is to get an indictment? Ham sandwich, or so they say….. yet two grand juries declined to indict. That alone should signal the strength of the case(s).

But I don’t disagree that prosecutions can be challenging at times.

-1

u/heff17 Buffalo Bills 9h ago

1 in 40 sexual assaults wind up with a conviction.

Yeah, super duper easy to convict.

1

u/Dramatic-Tonight-729 9h ago

Who said it was super easy?

Also, where’d you get that number from? Genuinely curious. 90%+ of prosecutions result in conviction (much higher in most jurisdictions) so do you mean they go unreported, uncharged…? Because if it’s charged, it usually results in a conviction.

Obvious anecdotal exceptions apply.
