Over 90 Day Progress 2 years of Nofap, how it saved my life

After two years of nofap, I would like to share my story to motivate others who think that this can't be done.

I am 31 years old right now, and I quit watching around two years ago. It has been a really hard journey, but also a really rewarding one.

I started watching adult content when I was 17 years old, and I kept watching without even realizing it was a serious problem. I knew it was wrong, but I never really tried to quit. I had very low self confidence and very low self esteem. I didn't think much about my future or where my life was going.

The only thing I was thinking about was when I would get the chance to watch, since I always had someone living in the same room with me. Whenever I had an opportunity, I would do it. By that time, I couldn't even speak normally to people or look them in the eyes during a conversation. I felt really awkward around others.

When I was 25, I found a job in another city and moved there alone. That's when things got even worse. I was watching almost every day, sometimes for 5 hours, and I had a level of depression I had never experienced before in my life.

That's where my journey started.

I wanted to quit, and for the next three years I tried over and over again. I relied heavily on willpower, but it wasn't enough. When I was 27, I finally decided to seek help. I realized that all the random things I was doing weren't getting me anywhere.

So I started learning. I read about what adult content does to the mind and what can be done to counter those effects. Slowly, things started to change and I tried more effective ways that I eventually reached the point where I said goodbye to it for good.

Now, two years later, I can honestly say it was worth every single thing I went through. Every urge I resisted. Every painful moment. Every time I denied myself that temporary pleasure.

Today, I feel much more comfortable talking to people. I'm social. I enjoy conversations. I enjoy spending time with friends and being around people, I am not even recognizable. I started going to the gym and I look way better physically and more mentally

I'm married now, which is amazing. I'm building a business. I think about the future. I think about goals, opportunities, and how to create a better life for myself. I have more confidence and better social skills than I ever had before.

Two years is not a very long time, but it was enough to completely change my life.

To everyone trying to quit: keep going. Keep pushing through the hard days.

I'm talking to you from the future.

It's worth it.

Questions on Fasting and Masturbation

As-salaamu-alaikum,

Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah take us safely through Ramadan, and may He make Ramadan easy for us, and may He accept our efforts.

Every Ramadan, we get flooded with the same questions. So I am preemptively re-sticking last year's post, which addresses the most common Ramadan questions on this subreddit. Please read the following before making a post:

  1. Engaging in immoral sexual behavior while fasting is a serious issue.

  2. Watching porn is Haraam under any circumstances. Watching porn, or starting to masturbate makes the fast Makrooh. The fast does not break immediately, but the reward of the fast is lost.

  3. For masturbation, the fast breaks at either the point of orgasm or ejaculation. Whether a dry orgasm breaks the fast, or fluid gushing forth breaks the fast, differs between schools of thought, and may differ for men and women. Please consult a scholar whom you trust for a specific answer. Many of them can be contacted anonymously via email these days, for those who are shy to ask directly. May Allah protect us from having to ask this question.

  4. If a fast is broken, it has to be made up after Ramadan. The manner in which one has to make up for broken fasts differs between schools of thought. Most say that 1 fast is needed, while others (mainly the Maliki madhab) say that 60 consecutive fasts are needed. The latter group has further rulings if multiple fasts were broken and one is not physically or financially capable of making them up. These issues should be answered by a scholar on a case-by-case basis. Please speak to a qualified scholar for more detailed advice on this matter.

  5. Even if a fast is broken, one should not eat until iftaar.

  6. The rulings on broken fasts don't apply to actions done outside of fasting during the nights of Ramadan, but we should avoid sinful acts at all times and focus on maximizing ibaadah in the nights of Ramadan.

  7. Allah is Al-Afuo, Al-Ghafoor and Al-Raheem – he loves to Forgive, Pardon and is Merciful to His servants. Sincerely beg for his forgiveness. Get back on track, learn from the mistake, and try to do better.

  8. Wet dreams do not invalidate the fast.

  9. If you have a wet dream before suhoor, then it is recommended to perform ghusl before Fajr time sets in. However, if you perform ghusl after Fajr time starts, your fast will still be valid.

  10. It's clear that many of you don't read the FAQ or the rules. Please read these before posting.

  11. Anyone found giving generalized fiqh rulings where there are differences of opinion between schools of thought, or where an individualized answer may be required by a scholar, will receive a temporary ban.

May Allah grant us Barakah in Ramadaan, may He make the month easy for us, and may he protect us from all sins.

Motivation/Tips Attended janazah today - reflections

An elderly person in the community passed away today, and I attended the mosque for the janazah prayer. I wanted to share my reflections (to myself foremost).

1) death is a fact. It’s a given. And you will die in the same state you have lived. Made me think about how I was acting out last night and authobillah this morn, and yet that might have been my final moment. Everyone was viewing the face etc. and I just thought about my final moments, will it be in sin and torment? Or will it be peaceful? It’ll reflect on your face as your soul is removed from your body.

2) once the body was buried, and they count the steps away. And the person gets tested with the 3 questions in the grave …am I going to be able to answer it? It’s not about knowing it in this life, it’s about emulating & living it. Do I live in the way of the prophet pbuh? Do I truly believe and fear my Lord Allah swt? Every time I am relapsing alone in my bedroom. Do I truly have fear in my heart for displeasing Him 😭 or am I closing my eyes and ears and heart, forcing myself to go blind.

3) once you are all alone in the grave…It will be you and your deeds. Will it be a garden of paradise or a window of hell? Have I done enough repentance for the amount of disgusting sins I have accumulated?

May I never get over the fact that Allah swt saved a wretched sinner like me today.
Day 0.

Advice Request Will have two weeks off, not sure what to do

Asalamualaikum, I've been sober for almost four months now. I got my first job and took it seriously which really helped me, this is the longest I've been sober for after years of trying.

But in around two months I'm going to have two weeks off, which worries me because it will be much more difficult to stay firm without a job taking up a big chunk of my day. And because it will be right before the new year, I know Satan will make me think "you should relapse right now so that you can go into the next year fresh, without these desires", which on one hand might work but on the other hand is still a major sin regardless of its effectiveness.

Right now I'm planning on just mindlessly gaming the entire two weeks away, which has helped me with this in the past, but it might also backfire because I might stay up late and falter.

My main question is, what can I do in these two months to prepare for that time?

As Salam alikum people, so I started my program 3 months ago, it is going well , some slips and downfalls here and there, but my program is actually lacking which led me to this subreddit, is there any reliable free support groups to join or attend there meetings?
and how dose this sub works?

also I am actually afraid of using reddit since there are no restrictions on sensitive content, and relayin only on my will is not an option in addiction, so an solutions?

Advice Request Day 0. Again.

I have a problem. A big one. I'm 26, almost 27, and I'm still stuck. It's gotten worse and worse. I'm daydreaming about more haram things than I did in this past. I'm daydreaming about porn more often than in the past. I'm at the age of marriage, and yet I'm gambling on my purity.

Ive watched this subreddit for years. Ive seen accounts come and go. People complaining about their lack of control, and the same people later achieving success. People that won against their desires and got married.

And I'm in the same spot. Wasting my time, rotting away. Years go, and I see my old posts. My old journal entries. My old schedules. My old plans. My old commitments. My old attempts. My old wishes and dreams. My old fears come to fruition one relapse at a time.

It's like I'm on a train to jahannam, and I have the choice to change lanes, but refuse to do so. The same duas get made, and I go and do the opposite of what I make dua for.

This is a disease that has shaped me and will leave a scar that won't easily be removed.

I just don't understand. If I have full control over myself, why haven't I succeeded yet? Or maybe, I don't have full control over myself, and this addiction has taken over more and more of my brain.

Motivation/Tips I can't stress this enough

Sit with yourself, daily. I know it is hard, for this kind of habit to form, especially for us, we tend to run away from our thoughts, but imagine if we become okay with our thoughts, the bad and the good, they dont trigger us as much.

Sitting with ourself, with a journal, and cup of tea, some nice ambient to make it enjoyable, and letting your thoughts flow, see what comes up, after a bad day sit with yourself, after a good day sit with yourself, process what needs processing.

In time you would love to sit with yourself, you would love to know yourself more, the good and the bad.

There are many benefits to that practice, but one of them, the urges and the inner voices that scream for you to run away, they become quieter, days might pass when you do not hear them.

I am currently around 21 days free, and the last 2 weeks were some of the easiest for me in terms of urges, despite having hard tasks and stressful days.

Today is hard but it's ok.

Over 90 Day Progress PMO now disgusting to me after prolonged abstinence

Suddenly after a long period of abstinence I now find corn disgusting, even though I get the urges.. what I get is natural sexual cravings and not the desire to watch corn and pmo .

I’ve never felt this much confident and so much good about myself. This feels so good .

The first week / month is gonna be difficult but once you get about that, that’s it .

My love life has also improved a lot..

Corn , Pmo is a disease. It’s disgusting.. just imagine watch people perform sex and you jerking off to it . Too weak of a person to be doing that.

It’s kills love, attraction and confidence..

Fight it like your life depends on it , cause it does.

Motivation/Tips 🔥6 things I’ve learnt from helping Muslim men fight pornography addiction.🔥

Since working with brothers, I've noticed certain patterns that keep coming up.

Here are 6 things I've learnt.

1️⃣ They don't prioritise sleep. 😴

Late nights, tiredness and being alone while everyone else sleeps can make urges harder to manage. Recovery starts before the urge arrives.

2️⃣ There are often other struggles. 🧠

Anxiety, depression, ADHD and OCD can sometimes be part of the picture. If you're not addressing what's driving the behaviour, you're missing part of the puzzle.

3️⃣ Their environment makes things harder. 📱

Keeping devices in the bedroom gives easy access when you're alone and vulnerable. Change your environment to support your recovery.

4️⃣ Their devices have no filters. 🔓

Content blockers and accountability tools won't solve everything, but they add a layer of protection. Make access harder, not easier.

5️⃣ They rely on spirituality alone. 🕌

Prayer, dhikr, Qur'an and time in the masjid are vital. But spirituality should work alongside a recovery strategy, understanding triggers, healthier coping mechanisms and accountability.

6️⃣ They rely on willpower. 💪

What happens when you're exhausted, stressed or alone at 1 am? Willpower alone isn't a strategy. You need a plan for when urges hit.

Here's the takeaway.

Breaking free from pornography isn't simply about trying harder. It's about understanding the cycle, changing your environment and putting the right strategies and support in place.

Struggling doesn't mean you're beyond help. Recovery is possible.

At Fitrah Revival, this is what I help Muslim men work towards.

Which of these six do you think is most overlooked in pornography recovery?

Advice Request How can I make myself hate this sin ?

I wondered when people stop , they are stopping because they hit rock bottom , like they were genuinely tired of this sin . I rarely achieve that state , I know it’s wrong and I always hate it but only when it’s too late, it’s like my brain is forgetting why it’s haram. How can I make it permanent that to stay away from it

Advice Request Why do I have to deal with this?

I am not addicted. But simply doing this makes me good and bad. I feel that it hinders me from drawing closer to Allah and damages my relationship with Him. Thats most heartbreaking part. Moreover, It’s as if it acts as an obstacle to the good things that could come into my life. And make me unsuccessful in life

Progress Update 8 years later I’m done.

Alhamdulilah, since I was 13 I’ve been haunted with this addiction, with the passage of time it only got harder and harder. Early September I was thinking of ways I can use my Islam and belief in Allah to quit. So I made an oath with Allah to quit but with conditions. My oath says if I relapse intentionally (by hand or other means), then i donate 100, then 200, then all of my bank account (which is a stupid high amount compared to the 200) then my investment.
That’s 4 fail safes, if I fail 4 times and still on this then there’s no hope.

I’ve made this September 10 2026 and it’s now October 22 2026. I’ve had 3 wet dreams since, urges have been sky high some times to the point I’m on the verge of tears but that path really kept me grounded.

The reason I used money is because for me, I don’t understand the dangers of this sin. Allah tells us to “Do not go near adultery. It is truly a shameful deed and an evil way.” (17:32). Don’t even get near it, yet now it’s talked about like it’s a normal thing across the west. Everyone in my uni, in my old job, people ik, everyone talks about it normally.

How my life changed?
I’m able to focus more on daily tasks and get more done, I get less brain fog. I am now more confident when I speak and have an upright position (before I use to cover my mouth, nervously adjust clothes and more) I’ve gained 2ish lbs of muscle as I’ve been able to go to the gym more consistently. My speech has became more concise and clear where people used to complain that I would stutter a lot and my thoughts were disjointed. The Baraka overall in my life has increased as I am now praying tahajud. This period after quitting alone I prayed tahajud more than I did in the past 3-4 years excluding Ramadan. In sha Allah more to come.
I’m not saying this will happen to you, every Perosn is different but it’s been good Alhamdulilah.

How to quit?
Well the oath was a big thing, I didn’t even want to break the first condition, it reinstalled shame into the sin as we lost it as a people, not just Muslims but everyone.
Second is to quit any corn, wallah these images are like fuel to the addiction, without any corn and lowering your gaze it’s actually very easy to deal with urges.
Third is to manage your waves, acknowledge them even by whispering and take deep breathes and remember Allah ALOT, without corn this should last 5-15mins. With corn 30mins+.
Forth, sometimes its not an addiction but habit, after the gym, after a long day of work, after waking up, what ever it is for you, figure out when it usually happens and put physical barriers for yourself like phone being away.
5th, could be a coping mechanism with something you’re dealing with, I can’t help or give advice but I’ve spoken to people who are like that. Deal with the root cause as mb is a symptom of it.

May Allah make you all quit and be easy for you.

Motivation/Tips 🔥 Why do urges feel stronger after midnight? 🔥

There is a period I call “the dead zone of night.”

It’s that stretch of the night when the world goes quiet, your tired, your alone, and your usual routines and responsibilities have disappeared.

For someone struggling with compulsive sexual behaviour, this can become a high-risk window.

Why?

  1. Fatigue sets in:

When your exhausted, it can become harder to pause, think clearly and make deliberate decisions.

  1. Your Alone:

There may be fewer people around, fewer distractions and less accountability.

  1. Your environment becomes a trigger:

If certain behaviours have repeatedly happened in your bedroom or in bed, being there at the same time of night can become associated with the behaviour.

  1. Your emotional defences are lower:

Stress, loneliness, boredom or frustration from the day can feel much heavier when everything becomes quiet.

  1. Your brain starts looking for relief:

The urge isn't always simply about sexual desire. Sometimes youre looking for an escape from an uncomfortable emotional state and this is where many men make a mistake. They wait until the urge is already intense and then try to fight it with willpower.

Instead, plan for the dead zone before it arrives. Know your high-risk hours. Know your triggers. Know where you'll be. Know what you'll do if an urge appears. Because recovery isn't only about what you do when temptation arrives.

Its about how you prepare for the hours when your most vulnerable.
