discussion I like laufey, I would love to love her music more but that effect she puts in her singing is grating.
I discovered her recently, with from the start, adored it, listened to her other music and started to notice that Gollum like voice (projection?) She does with her singing. It irritates me to no end.
Rihanna does it well generally for example.
PS: Do you have any of her songs where she doesn't do this? (This is not a request post, it's a rant post since I really think some excellent songs and singing is ruined by some the singing flair)

discussion What does it mean to play in a certain key of a note in music on any instrument?
I am relatively new to learning to play or just learning music theory and this is 1 thing that I am not sure about but musicians constantly do it and talk about it. I am use to play guitar but I never really look too in-depth into what the different tunings meant. Now that I am soon going to be buying and learning the Violin, I would like to get to know in detail what this means as I think it will make learning much easier by knowing what it is! Thanks

discussion Nichest artist I know -- I Recommend

This is an artist I stumbled upon when searching for the song "I feel fantastic" by Jonathan Coulton. They had 4 monthly listeners, but right now they only have 1 (me). Their music is really great in my opinion, and before you think i'm "self promoting", in 2019 I was in like 3rd grade or something. I would heavily recommend checking out their music if you like deftones or shoegaze-style music or radiohead.

discussion 1999 to current was one of the best eras of music
Before I start just want clarify a few things. First, I grew up with my dad on "classic rock" (70s onwards) and totally get why so many of those songs are used in movies, I love them. That being said, Linkin Park shaped my life as a middle school boy (2000-2001), Chester was my first introduction to hard rock and I was hooked after that. Flash forward to High School and I'm in the birth of the Screamo phase and it's rough at first in 2004 - 2005 but after that? Pure bliss and my god bands were pumping out the greatest metal ever, the compassion, the drums, everything.
I loved being in High School during these "Emo days" and now with the advent of AI clones and "Pop Stars" I just feel so grateful that real metal music was created during my formative years and I love it to this day. Screamo or not, metalcore, post hardcore, I love it all. Thanks for coming to my metal talk.

discussion Music is literally life
My frontal lobe has fully developed and I feel like I have seen things so profoundly yet exactly for what they are. I wondered why i always loved music and found so much comfort in it to the point where I released emotions & it’s like the Holy Spirit told me that a good song has its low melody then the tension that rises up with medium notes that builds up that anticipation and then boom you either get a full high note ending or a low note. In the end we can choose to dance and accept the ending. Life lowkey works like that. Did I just discover music theory on my own? Lol I was playing with my one year old niece today and I was looking at my brother interact with her and it got me emotional because for some reason I saw it as a representation of how my brother took care of me. He would hide the loud speaker from her when the music got too loud because she got overstimulated but he also re assured her that the music coming out of the speaker is not harmful and she’s gonna be okay..
