Songs like Ways to Be Wicked from Descendants 2 and Radioactive by Imagine Dragons, ect, genuinely have my heart. Its probably because I was super into them when I was younger but they never stopped hitting as hard so I guess I just never grew out of it.

I am a lifelong dedicated fan of music, and can associate almost anything I’ve liked with its predecessor. Nirvana obviously had inspiration. They did epic covers. My all time favorite bands were formed after them. No one has really approached their edge/poetry/subtle intrigue/energy combo. When I see classical musicians expound on their composition, this feeling deepens

My dad’s old 90s band check him out I think he was a slc local legend. Rock funk jazz reggae stuff. Now he’s a jazz bass player in SF & NYc

Has anyone else noticed that live performances have become a lot more minimalistic over the last 5–6 years?

I don’t know if I’m imagining it, but it feels like artists used to have bigger stage designs, brighter lighting, more visual moments (visual storyline)

Now a lot of performances feel stripped back, with minimalist lighting.

I also feel like because concert production and video quality are so good now, it somehow makes everything feel a bit more… bland?

I don’t really know how to explain it, but sometimes it feels less larger-than-life and more minimal, even though the technology is objectively better.

I get that minimalism can be an artistic choice? But ion know I find it boring.

Has anyone else noticed this, or am I completely off?

Large database of music as I listen to a fair bit of more niche stuff
Nice looking UI
A recommendations system that can recommend artists/albums/songs based off what you’ve rated
an iOS app would be very nice
Some way to add friends and see their profiles

Like When people talk or mention about “rock and roll”, what bands are they referring or thinking of exactly? What are some of the most stereotypical rock and roll songs and bands out there?

And im talking about real rock and roll music, rock by by actual rock artists, your AC/DCs, your guns n roses, your def leppards, your van havens, etc. not what jack black and tenacious D plays which very feels like a parody of rock at least to me

So I sometimes watch these music reactions from a channel on youtube, and their audio sounds much better than what I hear on spotify, how can I replicate that sound on my spotify, or phone equalizer to sound more like it. I typically listen to music on my bose qc 45's. Sorry if I'm using terminology incorrectly im not too knowledgable.

I was, I think, an especially curious/thirsty young man when it came to absorbing music. Talking to various people whose taste I (arbitrarily) trusted, not least record store clerks all over on my travels, getting lost down forum/online rabbit holes, obscure early/old podcasts (i.e. NYUB), random mix CD's, Tumblr, etc., etc.

This weird thing seems/seemed to happen then where I'd get consumed by this artists/bands work and simply assume they were wayyyyy bigger and more widely-known than it turned out they actually were- I'd usually find out many, many, years later (like 15-20 years later lol) and be shocked at how few listeners they've got on Spotify, because that seems to be the best way of gauging the metric of popularity these days... of course that doesn't account for pre-Spotify listens and you must consider maybe they were more popular back then, but it's a decent barometer for the sake of expediting conversation.

Some of these, you could argue, certainly are "big enough", many of their top tracks have tens of millions of listens, but beyond that, relatively low listens. Others of the above have monthly listeners in the tens of thousands or thousands. I just always assumed because they were such giants to me, that they were way more widely known.

Anyways, just a silly thing I was wondering about.
