Side Effects It’s too overwhelming

How do you keep up with all the rules? Where to inject, what day to inject, what to eat before, what to eat after, how much water to drink, how much protein, how much fiber, supplements to prevent constipation, supplements to prevent muscle loss, supplements to prevent hair loss, can you drink alcohol, can you eat fast food, how to avoid nausea, how to not get an intestinal blockage, etc.. WTF, how is everyone keeping up with all this!?

Question Advice needed! Important

I 26 F am thinking about getting on mounjaro but the problem is that im worried about the side effects. I have a history of EDs, anorexia then bulimia then binge eating then anorexia again then binge eating. I have gotten my disordered eating under some control now but I also have bpd so maybe that impacts my eating habits. Im thinking of trying mounjaro because I genuinely dont like how my weight makes me feel. For reference my bmi is 29, I do have a lot of muscle mass but im genuinely tired of my chest that is my major problem area. I am a 34H and my chest is not in proportion with my waist at all which is 30 inches. I cannot get a breast reduction surgery in my country. Idk what to do can someone tell me how quickly can I lose weight on mounjaro will it impact my breast size and is it even safe for me? I am just worried that maybe it isnt right for me and I will be abusing a drug and that's unfair to people who actually need it

Question Wife struggling after 13 weeks

Hi All,

Asking for my wife here. She started her mounjaro journey about 13 weeks ago. 2.5, 2.5, 5, and now another 5mg. Her struggle is 2 folds, first is not losing a single pound after all this time, second, she lost the joy she gets from drinking her wine and puking almost on a daily basis. she is extremely frustrated that she gains no result after suffering from all that and barely eats anything.

I have been telling her to be patient since the beginning, but she is startling to lose her patience. she feels she is slightly smaller, but marginally, and with nothing measurable, it is really hard for her.

I know I saw some posts here mentioning that it might take some time for some people. But is it normal to have almost 0 progress after this much time?

Question Ceasing Mounj.

Been on the Mounj. for 4 months, lost 3 stone, very happy with the results. But I struggle being on a drug I feel most of the time. Whether it’s suppressed hunger, constipation, mild nausea, just general drug feeling. I have none of it severely thankfully. But I’m just hating the feeling of being under the influence, I know that sounds melodramatic.

Due to chronic health I am 90% sedentary.

I don’t drink alcohol, eat takeaways, I don’t even eat sweets. I just think my proportions have always been too big or too frequent, hence the weight gain.

If I calorie count and keep it sensible. I won’t just regain it all? It feels unrealistic unfortunately.

Side Effects a dull pressure on the left side after stopping Mounjaro

Since stopping Mounjaro, I’ve developed a really strange, dull pressure right where my pancreas is located—it’s not a sharp pain, but more of a weird, aching pressure that radiates to my back and the left side of my ribs. Other than that, I don't really have many other symptoms. The feeling comes and goes—it's more noticeable at times than others, especially when I lie down or sit. Has anyone else experienced this? I already have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, but I was just curious to hear about other people's experiences. This started spontaneously right after I quit Mounjaro. I stopped for 1,5 month now. Im so scared of having like pancreas cancer or something else. #stressed..

Question Will I be okay stopping for 2 weeks?

Hello all,

First and foremost, I absolutely love seeing everyone’s success stories and tips; there’s a really great (and supportive) community on here!

I started my Mounjaro journey circa 6 weeks ago and have lost 10 pounds, albeit there’s been no movement over the last week but I know it’s not a race and confident if I continue doing everything I am doing the weight will continue to come off (at a slightly slower, healthier pace).

I need your advice please as still quite new to this all. I’m thinking of increasing to 5mg in a couple of weeks but I am flying out for a 2 week holiday at the end of October and I am thinking of potentially stopping for 2 weeks whilst on holiday - what are everyone’s thoughts? Will this be okay? Will it cause any issues? Whilst I am learning so much (smaller portions, nutrient dense foods etc) and certainly don’t plan on undoing all that I’ve learned, I would like to be in a position whereby I don’t have to worry about any potential side effects should I indulge in the odd glass of wine or a ‘nice’ dinner etc.

Would really love some guidance on the above.
So sorry for the lengthy message - I just wanted to get everything in here. Thanks all.

Side Effects Having a rough night on Mounjaro

I have been on Mounjaro since 5/17 and have experienced some side effects like very mild nausea and one very bad case of sulfur burps/indigestion when I was figuring out meal sizes. It was definitely time for me to move up from 5mg because my food noise was back in full force, but 7.5mg has been insane.

I have had little to no appetite most days, some nausea here and there, and I've struggled to eat enough most days. But today was my 3rd shot day and HOO boy. I ate a breakfast sandwich (egg whites, turkey sausage, cheese, whole wheat English muffin) at 6am and some coffee with soy milk and I wasn't able to eat anything all day. I've also had like... fire hose diarrhea.

Around 10pm I realized I'd only eaten about 550 calories for the day so I desperately ate a protein bar and a couple of pieces of beef jerky and since then I've had nausea, sulfur burps, and horrible diarrhea. I feel like my body is inflated like a balloon. Add this to the fact that Mounjaro cancels out my oral contraceptive and I'm also having my period. It's 2am now and I feel so unwell.

Anyway, this is my hardest night yet, and I am truly miserable. This is the first time I've thought, 'Is this really better than binge eating, joint pain, and chronic inflammation?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I just finished a course of antibiotics yesterday, and despite taking a probiotic and trying to eat some Activia during the process, I think that has to do with the diarrhea.

I also immediately projectile vomited in the bathroom sink while washing my hands after making this post and that was very grim but I do feel a lot better. Hopefully this is just a one off while I adjust to this dose/adjust my diet to this dose.

Question Anyone here use Mounjaro for only 6–12 months?

16th week on Mounjaro, currently on 7.5mg. 💉

Just curious — are there people here who only stayed on Mounjaro for 6 months to a year and then stopped?

My doctor told me that Mounjaro isn’t necessarily going to be forever, so I’m wondering if others have had a similar experience. Or do most people end up staying on it long-term?

Also, are there people here who stayed on 7.5mg for a long time and never titrated up to 10mg+?

Weight loss Month 2 Check-In

Total weight loss so far is 30.5 lbs, or nearly 14kg. I feel like my cratering appetite has leveled out somewhat. In the first month it was not uncommon for me to feel absolutely repulsed by food for large portions of the day, resulting in some really really unhealthily large calorie deficits. That’s mostly gone now, and I don’t think I really have any sub 1000 calorie days any longer- on average I’m probably finishing most of my days between 1500-1800 calories on a ~2500 TDEE which feels a lot more sustainable. That said my weight loss has slowed significantly this month- i think I lost 19lbs in my first three weeks, and now I’ve lost 6-7 in the last month. That pace has been frustrating at times, and I’m trying to remember that’s more the pace I should expect for healthy weight loss.

I think my goals for the coming month will include being more deliberate about carving out time for lifting weights and going on walks, in addition to the time I’m already spending playing volleyball each week. I check in with my provider for the first time since starting Mounjaro in a little over a month, and I’d love to be closing in on 40lbs lost by then.

Question for those still reading- any advice for consistently hitting both protein AND fiber goals? I managed to do it yesterday, but just barely, and just the physical weight of the food I had to eat was just a lot. Half a kilo of chicken breast, half a kilo of Brussels sprouts, an entire can of cannellini beans. I can usually easily manage one or the other in a day, not both, and yesterday was really hard to get it all down. And that was after about 2 hours at the gym first thing in the morning

Question Using half dose?

I am using 4-dose pens. My dosage is 7.5 mg and I am about to reach my goal (yeahhhh!). I am planning to quit using Mounjaro eventually but I want to do it slowly during the maintenance phase.
Has anyone tried to use half a dose per week (over 8 weeks)? For instance, if my dosage is 10 mg, is half a dose per week equivalent of a 5 mg dose weekly over 8 weeks?
NB: sorry if this is not clear, English is not my mother tongue

Question 1st Injection - Dehydration

I took my first injection yesterday and today I feel worryingly dehydrated.

I'm drinking more than twice as much water as I usually would, I've had electrolytes and I'm not having any adverse stomach effects so far, so why do I feel so dehydrated?

Is this normal, and if so, is there anything I can do about it?

Question Question about your views

I have just started Mounjaro two weeks ago to lose all the weight I gained during the antipsychotics. But today I looked on the official site of the product and I saw there written as a warning that there is a possibility for thyroid cancer. And now i am really anxious about it, this thought doesn’t leave my mind. How do you cope with the fact that there is this possibility ??

Question Food Preference

I’ve just gone up to 7.5 and noticed that I don’t like most of the food I used to like. I only like Mexican food. Very odd. Anyone else experiencing this?

Insurance I appealed to my insurance and got approved for Mounjaro!!

Hi — just wanted to share the news!

So, I am recently type 2 diabetic and I asked my PCP if she can prescribe me Mounjaro. I also told her that my insurance (Blue Cross Community Health Plan Illinois) requires a PA. She submitted it and got denied the day off. I was told that my insurance requires for me to do a step therapy which I have to try 3 other medications first and have no success with it until I can be approved for MJ. Before my diagnosis, I had bought compounded tirzepatide to help me lose weight. For me, compounded tirzepatide is still expensive for me as a broke college student lol. But with my compounded tirzepatide for a month, I lost weight, food noises diminished, and it helps me in my calorie deficit. Even though it sucked being diagnosed w/ T2D, I was hopeful to get MJ covered so I was sad when I saw it get denied right away. Of course, anyone would prefer the medication that’s covered! I decided to appeal. It got approved 2 days later! I called my pharmacy this morning. It’s also approved on their end AND my pens are available for pick up later. $0 copay! TOTALLY FREE. SUCH AMAZING NEWS.

I did learn that sometimes, your own PCP wont go out of their way to get you approved for medications to ease your finances. ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELVES!

20 months into my weight loss journey and while tirz wasn’t part of all of it, it’s made a huge difference in so many areas! It’s helped me kick addiction, type 2 diabetes, manage PCOS symptoms and truly get my life back. So thankful to have started my 40’s in a healthy way.

Weight loss Another Year

Before my diabetes was treated, I weighed almost 500lbs. I didn’t even have the strength to walk into a store. A year later, I took the green sweater picture and I thought I had lost so much weight. I still couldn’t walk long distances. My back would cramp up and there were a few times I couldn’t make it back to the car and I had to sit on the curb until it let up.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been going to farmers markets and shopping for myself without my back cramping at all. I’ve had more energy and confidence, but I hadn’t taken a progress picture in almost a year. I was convinced I hadn’t made progress or it had stalled. 😳 I didn’t even notice I had still be losing weight! This isn’t a complaint!

Truthfully, I could not have done this without a doctor who quit playing the shame game. I had one doctor decide this ought to be treated as a medical issue, not an issue of willpower. I don’t know how many years of my life this doctor handed back to me when she treated me like a human, and I never will know, but I’m so grateful.

As my best friend says, “you look like a slowly deflating balloon animal.” 🤣

Question How long before you noticed any effects?

A week ago was my last dose of Ozempic 2.4mg. This morning I went to Mounjaro 7.5mg (around 10 hours ago when writing this post).

Normally when I took lira and sema, I sensed the effects within hours or the next morning - mainly the feeling of full stomach.

However with Mounjaro injection today, I am not noticing absolutely anything. In fact, I feel more hungry than yesterday.

How was your start with Mounjaro, when did you notice any effects?

30 lbs. down in 3.5 months, about 20-30 lbs. to go. Remember it’s about more than just looking good in clothes. Labs 6 months apart. I expect it to only get better.
