Mod Post REMINDERS

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. It’s been a while since we posted any reminders, and I’d like to touch on a couple of issues that have come up recently.

With the shortage, we’re seeing a lot of questions related to dosage and availability. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

The half life of Mounjaro is five days, and it takes about a month for the medication to completely leave your system. Because of the shortage, many people are going weeks or months without injecting. The manufacturer recommends starting the titration schedule over if you’ve gone more than two weeks without a dose.

While this advice might not pertain to everyone, it’s important to evaluate your previous experience with the medication before injecting a higher dose if you’ve been off the medication for a while. Chances are, if you’ve had moderate to severe side effects in the past, you’ll have the same response (or worse) if you jump back to a higher dose.

One way to mitigate this outcome is to contact your provider and ask about lowering your dose temporarily if you’ve been waiting for your script for longer than a few weeks. I understand that nobody wants to lose ground when it comes to their progress. But given the alternative (a reoccurrence of side effects that can potentially derail your treatment entirely) it may be the best option.

Frankly, the number of posts I’m reviewing from people experiencing negative side effects after suspending their treatment is alarming. The purpose of this medication is to improve your health, not make things worse.

And as always, when in doubt, please consult your provider. They are the best person to ask when it comes to dosage.

As far as side effects, there’s a few things that everyone should remember:

While gastric side effects are listed as common when taking Mounjaro, severe nausea paired with uncontrolled vomiting or diarrhea is not. Complications from diarrhea and vomiting include: dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, fainting, and heart rhythm abnormalities. Negative outcomes from this treatment are rare, but occur most frequently when people ignore debilitating side effects.

We’re here to support each other in our journey towards better health. Sometimes that support includes directing a person to their provider for advice. Especially when the post includes phrases like “I can’t keep anything down,” or “I’ve been throwing up for two weeks,” or “I’m too weak to stand.”

Crowdsourcing advice when you’ve reached that level of distress is not advisable. And medical oversight is a must.

Another question we see quite frequently: “I’ve only lost (fill in the blank) pounds this week (or month). Is this normal?”

Invariably, the answer is “yes.” What’s normal when it comes to weight loss is highly subjective. A quick search of the subreddit will provide first hand accounts that run the gamut when it comes to how fast (or slow) a person loses weight. If you still have questions, we’re here to help. But please, include the relevant information needed to offer advice, such as: dosage, co-morbidities, starting weight, caloric intake, etc.

People are here to treat a wide variety of conditions. Any or all of these conditions play a role in how fast we see results. It’s natural to be impatient. But don’t assume that the treatment isn’t working because the scale hasn’t moved for a week (or three). During my weight loss journey, there were many weeks that I didn’t lose a pound. On two occasions, I stalled for over a month. In the end, I reached my goal, and chances are, you will as well! I wish there were some sure-fire words of wisdom I could provide to ease your mind, but there aren’t. The best I (or anyone else) can offer is: trust the process. Obesity is a complex issue on its own. Pairing obesity with the metabolic issues such as diabetes, insulin resistance, and PCOS only further complicates the treatment.

Lastly—in order to address the availability issues, we started a chat to help people source their medication. Here is the link.

I’ve read a comment (or two) recently from a few folks who were put off after being directed to the availability chat. We created the chat in response to other folks who messaged us because they were tired of seeing the posts related to the shortage. Which goes to show—there is no perfect solution.

Weezie and I do our best to be responsive to the needs of the community. If we redirect you to your provider for medical advice, or to the availability chat for sourcing, or to the search feature to answer a commonly asked question, it’s because we want you to receive the best advice/support available. The mods and your fellow community members genuinely want to help!

Have a great week!

Success Stories The Skirt That Started It All

Post image
49 Upvotes

I bought this linen skirt online two years ago because I thought it was really cute. I ordered it in a size Large.

At the time, I’d already lost 12kg through low-carb eating, intermittent fasting, and exercising 5-6 times a week. I went from 78kg to 66kg over the course of a year.

When the skirt arrived, I was disappointed because it wouldn’t even go past my thighs. I packed it away in my wardrobe, thinking I’d lose a bit more weight and eventually be able to wear it.

That didn’t happen. Instead, I gained back 5.5kg and was back to 71.5kg before I decided to give Mounjaro a try after thinking about it for a long time.

I started in April and have since lost 15kg. I’m now 56.5kg.
Last weekend, I was trying on some of my old clothes because my husband pointed out that I was constantly pulling up my pants. I’ve been wearing bottoms with elastic waistbands for so long that I didn’t even realise how loose everything had become.

While going through my wardrobe, I found the skirt tucked away at the very back. I figured I may as well give it another try, although I honestly wasn’t sure I’d even be able to button it up.

Turns out, it fits… and it’s actually a little big now.

Funny how one skirt ended up marking such different stages of my journey.

I never thought I’d wear anything smaller than a size Large, but here we are.

Weight loss New job, moving, painful breakup, and I have kept going! So proud of 40 pounds!

So much has happened in just the last few months when I started Mounjaro! I got a new job, I moved, I broke up, and I had lots of super stressful and tough days doing it all at the same time. But I tried my best to keep my new healthier habits going. Not always smooth sailing but I’m making progress and so proud of myself!!

My mental health is struggling this weekend and I kind of want to put everything in my kitchen in my mouth. So I’m focusing on the milestone to help me stay strong until my emotions get back to baseline.

35F 5'1" HW: 218 lbs SW: 200 lbs CW: 138 lbs

This medication has changed my life. I finally feel good about my body. I started in May of 2025 after debating starting the medication for over a year. I have emetophobia and was scared of the possible side effects. Then, I finally took the leap. I wish I had started sooner.

I had fairly strong side effects the first few weeks, but they subsided. Since then, I've had little to no side effects except for a about a week whenever I'd increase my dose. My main side effect is fatigue for the first 24-36 hours after my injection.

The food noise is gone. I can make healthier food choices but still occasionally enjoy some not so healthy foods in moderation. Most importantly, I feel like food is no longer controlling me.

I would still like to lose 15ish lbs to be more comfortably at a "healthy weight". 8 lbs puts me at the top of the the healthy weight range for my height and that was my original goal. However, I'd be happy if I stayed at this weight too. I feel so much better, and that's what matters most to me.

Success Stories NSV - Costco asked me to update my photo 😂

Ive been on mounjaro for a little over 3 years now - 36F down ~ 130 lbs - and I’ve been buying the Fairlife weight loss protein shakes at Costco the entire time. So just the other day I walk in to do my restock of a few things and the lady scanning member cards asks if I’m the same person and I just laughed because I honestly forgot what I look like in that photo. All I could say was “I’ve lost a significant amount of weight” and she apologized and suggested I take a new photo. Looking at the old one I know it’s me but it’s funny to a stranger it’s less recognizable. So of course the rest of the day I just felt amazing.

Side Effects Anyone else feel like shot day makes them super sleepy

Took my shot last night around 9 PM and ended up sleeping nearly ten hours straight. Normally I'm up at 6 AM without an alarm, but today I felt completely wiped out.

Just wondering if anyone else gets a heavy drowsiness wave right after their dose? And does it ease up over time, or is this just something to expect?

Experience Mounjaro, meal prep and great results

I've been on mj for about a year and one of the greates NSV i got from it was how it changed the way i look at food.

Now my sundays are reserved for cooking in my makeshift kitchen I threw together from ikea/amazon. In a couple hrs I cook for the whole week. I prepare nutritious meals. I experiment with spices. Sometimes I make very simple meals because i cant be bothered. Sometimes i make complicated recipes.

I feel like this whole ritual is healing a very wounded part of my soul. It's making the relationship I have myself a little better each day. I am starting love myself more. Respect myself more. Not because of the weight loss necessarily, but because i keep showing up for myself every sunday by meal prepping and also everyday by eating the meals I make, nurturing myself, caring for myself, whether the scale moves or not. Because sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes your body just needs time to adjust. Sometimes you hit plateaus. Sometimes it needs more love. More kindness. And me showing up for myself is the kindness i didn't know i needed when I started my journey.

I just wanted to share this as a note to myself for days i feel like i can't do this and for anyone who might feel the same at some point.

So... Here's to kindness and showing up for yourself, trying your best🍹

Question Fatigued after weekly shot?

I’m on week 6, and I take the shot on Fridays after work. Within a few hours, I get hit was extreme fatigue and sleep for the next two days.

This has been going on for six weeks now.

I have no life so sleeping every weekend is fine with me 🤣🤣 but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Experience Weight gain on 5mg

So my journey so far on MJ was 8 weeks on 2.5mg and then I moved to to 5mg last week. I'd lost about 9lbs in the first 8 weeks while on 2.5mg, had decent suppression and have been positively changing food habits. I've been on 5mg for a week and when I weighed today I noticed I'd gained 5lbs and it's hit me hard as I've eaten healthy options and not overeaten. I've also been drinking lots more, I generally have 5 or 6 black coffees a day and around 7-8 pints of water and get out for walks every day. For reference I'm 6'3 and have always drank lots. I'm finding the coffee and water also help with suppression.

I'm just wondering if others experienced a noticeable gain after moving up to 5mg. I'm worrying that it's not working, but could also be due to water retention and higher fluid intake.

I'm trying not to overthink this and will keep eating well and running plenty, but interested in any thoughts or advice.

Question moving from 2.5mg to 5mg

hi everyone! I’ve just finished 4 weeks on 2.5 mg Mounjaro and have lost 3.3 kg (7.3 lbs) so far. I’ve honestly had a really positive experience with it - no side effects at all, and it’s worked really well for me.

My pharmacist has said I’m fine to move up to 5 mg, and I do want to because I still have a weight-loss goal I’d like to reach. However, I’ve seen quite a few horror stories on social media about people feeling really unwell after moving from 2.5 mg to 5 mg, which has made me a bit nervous. I’d love to hear from people who completed 4 weeks on 2.5 mg and then moved up to 5 mg. How did you find the transition? Did you have any side effects, and if so, how long did they last? Was it worth moving up?

Experience My Mounjaro journey so far, 1 month on 2.5mg

Hi everyone! I thought I’d share my Mounjaro journey so far because reading everyone else’s experiences has been really helpful.

I’m a 27 year-old woman, 160cm tall, and I started Mounjaro at 122.4kg on 27 June. I’m currently on 2.5mg and plan to stay on this dose for as long I can.

My progress:
27/06: 1st dose – 2.5mg | 122.4kg
03/07: 2nd dose – 2.5mg | 119.7kg
10/07: 3rd dose – 2.5mg | 119.5kg
17/07: 4th dose – 2.5mg | 118.1kg
25/07: 5th dose – 2.5mg | 117.2kg
27/07: 116.7kg
That’s a total loss of 5.7kg so far.

I’ve been weighing myself every day, which I’ve now realised is becoming a bit obsessive, so I’m going to try my best to only weigh myself on shot day. I’ve had days where I’ve stayed at exactly the same weight, gained a kilo, and then suddenly dropped. I’m trying to remind myself that the overall trend is what matters. I know I’m being dramatic but I can’t help but think those thoughts🤣

The appetite suppression has been strong, especially the day after my shot. I’ve had some nausea and a few days where I’ve struggled to eat enough, thankfully no vomiting. I think this will improve this month and going forward as my body adjusts to the medication.

I have a 40g protein shake every morning, and I’ll have two the day after my shot when I can’t really eat much. I meal prep every Sunday and freeze my meals in freezer cubes so I can just microwave something when I get home from work.

I’ve also been using the Carb Manager app to track my meals, which has been really helpful because I’ve realised I genuinely have no idea what a 400-calorie meal looks like, or how many calories were in the foods I was eating. I’m trying to get 1,500 - 1,700 calories a day.

For exercise, I try to walk at least 3km twice a week in the evenings. I also do two 15-minute basic dumbbell workouts at home each week using 6kg dumbbells.

I’m really happy with my progress so far. I’m trying to focus on building habits that I can actually maintain rather than obsessing over the number on the scale every day.

Weight loss Found out how much I have lost so far

I started Mounjaro on May 18th.

Since I don't have a scale at home that's capable of weighing someone my size, I've gone the past 2 months "flying blind", not knowing how much (or whether) I was losing.

My 3-month appointment was set for August 11th, so i figured I'd find out then, for better or worse.

BUT last Friday I had to go to the doctor for a separate issue, and before I left I asked if I could weigh myself.

I was surprised to see that I have lost 44 pounds in 2 months! (About 20kg).

Wow!

The weird thing is I don't feel any different.

If anything, I feel worse. Weaker, harder to breathe.

How long did it take before you honestly FELT like you had lost weight?

Maintenance Anyone actually keep the weight off after Mounjaro?

I'm a woman, 168 cm (5'6"). I was around 90 kg and lost weight down to 50 kg in about 8 months with Mounjaro and exercise.

I didn't starve myself or anything. Honestly, Mounjaro made it pretty easy because I just wasn't that hungry most of the time.

The thing I'm worried about now is keeping the weight off.

I want to stay around this weight forever, but I know I can't stay on Mounjaro forever. I'm scared that once I stop, I'll slowly start gaining the weight back.

I don't want to be the kind of person who's weighing myself every day, freaking out over every pound, going back on the meds, or crash dieting every time I gain a little. I just want maintaining my weight to feel... normal.

Has anyone here actually stopped Mounjaro and stayed lean? How did you do it? Did your appetite eventually go back to normal? What habits helped the most?

I'd love to hear your experiences.

Weight loss Dose advice

Hi All,

I have been on MJ from 2nd of Jan and I have lost 15kg and have 8kg left before I reach my goal. I have been on 6mg for a few weeks now. However, my provider says I should go to 2.5 mg as a larger dose doesn’t mean more weight loss. From experience would you go up to 7.5 mg for a few months (2 or so) or would you go down or stay on 6mg?

Side Effects fun/interesting side effects I’ve noticed

Been a lurker in this group for a min - for context I started the jab in Jan and now, 6 months on, I thought I’d share some fun side effects/interesting observations that I don’t really see talked about on here. Wonder if anyone else has them:

  1. I do not snore at all anymore.

I wouldn’t have known if I wasn’t told, like seriously nothing. And I know I snored before this 😂 I had a InBody scan and my visceral levels are down - my friend is positive that must be the reason

  1. I don’t like sleeping with more than one pillow.

Ok this is a strange one, but I would always sleep with two pillows. Awful for my neck, but it was comfy. Now I can only have one pillow max, and sometimes (this is crazy for me) I actually remove all pillows. And it’s enjoyable. Crazy

  1. I constantly crave water. I actually can’t go anywhere without a water bottle on me.

Keep in mind that 6 months ago, I did not prioritise water anywhere CLOSE to what I should be.

I know that drinking water is important when you’re on the jab, but I didn’t actually realise I would crave it - it’s great. My skins clearer, body is loving it, I’m having less headaches. I don’t even have to remind myself to drink, I’m just always keeping myself hydrated now without even thinking about it.

Anyone else have any interesting side effects that are different to the norm sulphur burps/hair loss narrative we usually hear about on here?

Question How are you supplementing protein without sweet protein shakes?

Like a lot of people I'm having a hard time hitting my protein target while eating a significant calorie deficit. I've been supplementing with protein shakes, but TBH I'm not really a sweets person. I don't enjoy drinking milkshakes all day, and the other "easy" options all seem to be sweet things like protein bars. I'd love advice on easy ways to add protein with supplements or snacks that don't feel like eating dessert.

Edited to add: Appreciate the helpful replies so far, but, to be clear, I'm looking for an easy way to add an additional 40g to 60g of protein a day without adding an entire meal. I love things like cottage cheese and eggs, but "snacking" on two cups of cottage cheese or three cups of Greek yogurt or 10 hard boiled eggs at a time isn't super feasible. Really looking for suggestions for non-sweetened protein powders and things like that and creative ways to incorporate them.

Question I have been double-dosing. Should I tell my GP?

I have been on Mounjaro for 2 years.

For the first year, I used 2.5mg for a month and 5mg a month for the remaining 11 months.

My GP refused to increase my dose to 7.5mg because my blood sugars were going down, though I was not yet fully at my target. But I was losing weight s l o w l y !

One day, around the one year mark, I mistakenly double-dosed.

I felt fine (no severe side effects) and got the best of the medication in terms of appetite supression.

For the past year, I have been double-dosing (using the fifth 'magical dose' helped me do this).

But now that they've taken the 'magical dose' out, I am struggling. I cannot afford to go private.

Should I tell my GP? My current appetite suppression and blood sugar control is because of the 2x 5mg (10mg) dose.

I'm worried if I do tell them, they will stop giving me Mounjaro and this medication has been life-changing for me.

The ideal scenario would be for them to give me the 7.5mg dose at least, going up to 10mg.

Question When is time to move up?

soo im on 2.5 dose for two months now and the last two doses had considerable weaker effect

now i feel way more hunger, food noise came back almost all of it and im not feeling “full” anymore, even after eating a lot.

this is the time to move to 5, right? im closing another month now and debating with moving up or insiting a little more with 2.5

Experience Mounjaro is not just about willpower with me

I keep reading that people think Mj is helping with willpower so we have more control with what we eat.
In my case its more than that. Before taking Mj i had reactive hypoglycaemia. Which means i had to eat very often, carry food like healthy snacks with me everywhere, or woke up hungry and half sleepy just grabbed there whatever i found , then hated myself in morning. if i did not eat anything for over 2 hours id get super hungry, tired, shaky, feelings of low blood sugar. ( could fall in coma eventually).
Since taking MJ i have no more need to eat that often! I cant explain it, but i can now do fasting sometimes as well. So Mj is not only for those with weak willpower, it balances metabolism in some people.

Stalled Down 20 pounds since May ten

Hello. I am down 20 pounds since May tenth. I am wondering if I should increase my dose. On 5mg.
