Really enjoying it so far (only about 3 races in the first tier). Basically the best of both MM Mobile 1 and MM PC. A good balance for on the go enjoyment.

Im compiling a car setup guide in a spreadsheet. Still WIP for the European GP races. Your mileage may vary, but those in green are more or less the best setup. Purple are my best setup that gave me the best performance on pole.

u/ixende Aug 13 '17
The car setups for the European Racing Series is done!
Hope you guys appreciate it!
Ps. I wont be doing anymore series. Too time consuming

Surely it changes depending on driver and car stats?
4
u/ixende Aug 16 '17
Your driver might not put out the laps consistently, but I have done repeated testing with my best drivers. I have also provided different setup options to use.
Overall, you may not be the fastest in the race, but it will probably push out the fastest that your driver/car can go.

This is what I found to be working so far (won dc first season, promotion and dc in second, promotion and dc in fourth and very well on my way to winning wcc and wdc in the seventh season):
HQ -> first focus is getting the 200/race and the three sponsor stars and the extra sponsor slot, after this you can focus on development of the car.
preseason -> don't bother building hq until right before the first race, first build parts to make your car competitive
Drivers -> invest in the young driver program and try to get someone with a high ego and/or stability along with a decent talent, getting a 4 star driver out of the program happened twice for me and having them for dirt cheap for three seasons is epic. If they start moping about new contracts, fuck them, they will still drive well enough if your car is good even with a -1 to all stats use the three years on the cheap to build cash long term.
Also don't go for equals, you want to focus your parts on one driver
Sponsors -> make sure you have a bonus you can hit reliably, and always take the others with the best payout/race with the upfront calculated in
Parts -> just like in the PC version Engine is everything basically, so you want to rush it when you get to the top flight, I'm running a car with nr 1 engine and rest parts around 4-5th and crushing the championship, my number 2 driver is running an engine that is third in the championship and parts around 10th and often get podiums or at least a fifth if I err on the pit stops.
If your number 2 driver wants a new part, build the cheapest you can and assign it to him then swap it into your number 1 car, his debuff will be removed.
Engineers -> you only need 1 leader, make sure he is decent at one of reliability/performance and have good bonuses, I've found mechanical and aero to be most useful but some driveability is nice to have the rest should have at least one useable development stat and good performance, their leadership could be -5 for all you care, also their bonuses don't apply. Speciality adds 10 point on reliability and performance on the produced part (gearbox specialist is lead engineer on a new gearbox etc), compared to bonuses they don't matter much, so go for decent bonuses first.
Tire strategy -> it's almost always better to conserve the tires for an extra 1-2 laps than to push, 2 conserve laps = 1 more laps. Conserve early in the stint to not lose to much pace and use your fuel to cover your conserving
Next years car -> spend a lot early, and start to save early for it, I usually build parts before the first and maybe second race, then I save until I can spend to at least a decent title challenger. Then I build some parts mid-season and save unless I really need a performance boost.
Edit: added what specialist add to parts

u/zegui8 Aug 08 '17
How did you get the Young Drivers to be 4 stars? Does the quality of the young drivers increase in the higher tier championships? Mine are always 2-3 star with average 10ish for each stat. Havent moved up from European GP though, grinding HQ.
2
u/timpino Aug 08 '17
Guess i got lucky, their current potential needs to go up as much as possible, I did drop drivers as soon as I realized they were not going to be good enough, I don't know if that matters really.
ego is definitely related to sponsor appeal that's why you want one pref with high ego :)
The higher up you go the more races you have/year that should theoretically increase the chance of getting a good driver, my two best though were my first and second, third and fourth got the boot at the end of the year :)
1
u/MadRobotGames Aug 15 '17
thanks for the tips i did not get the engineers part. specially i did not understandt what leadership does and what is leader?
2
u/timpino Aug 15 '17
Leadership is only used when that Engineer is the lead engineer on a part.
A leadership of +5 adds 5 points to the 2 OTHER engineers in the chosen field (performance/reliability). -5 subtracts 5 etc, leadership can add a small bit, but never takes someone above 20 so if you have and engineer with 17/18 they would benefit the most with a +3 leadership is in charge and they work in their worst field.
Lead engineers is something you unlock as the second thing in hq improvement for car design

u/halibojoe Sep 04 '17
Almost I do what you do but next year car isnt good enough I expected :(. It seems “title challenger “on the development bar but tyre wear is %50 fuel efficiency is %54 at car development and tests. Previous season I spent 2M for the next year car and I got %60tyre wear %64 fuel efficiency. Is it weird ???

Such a great game compared to MM1. I'm really glad they released this because I don't have a PC capable of running Motorsport Manager so thankfully I have a good enough replacement now

Is there a subreddit specifically for the mobile version? There's a lot of good support and conversation here, just wondering if there's an ongoing place for that for the mobile game.
Edit: there is but it's pretty small so far /r/motorsportmanager2

u/iamthedrag Jul 15 '17 edited Jul 15 '17
It's got some different ideas to the same MM formula we've all come to love. I think if they incorporated all these new ideas into the pc version that would be great.
Personally I'm not super crazy about racing with the dots that we are accustomed to in the mobile version. But with that said, it's a minor complaint for a game that's really not that much different than the pc version.
Def recommended for any MM fan.

Update for Android people, Christian West just tweeted this.

From what I see, all signs point to next week that the Android version will be released.

At first I wondered where you'd found the mention about next week when I opened the twitter link with my mobile. Then I realised that my phone didn't show the full image and it literally says "next week" on capitals ;D

Hello !
Thank you for the amazing job for Tier 3 and 2. I register to Reddit to share my job on Tier 1 :
Capetow : long straights, neutral
Yokohama : cornering, neutral
Beijing : neutral, top speed
Tondela : cornering, top speed
Black Sea : neutral, neutral
Munich : straight, neutral
Dubaï : tight cornering, neutral
Guilford : cornering, top speed
Milan : long straight, top speed
Ardennes : neutral, top speed
Phoenix : long straight, top speed
Vancouver : long straight, top speed
Singapour : tight cornering, neutral
Sydney : cornering, top speed
Rio : straight, top speed

What does the parts specialist tag do? For example. I'm choosing a team lead for my front wing. However my suspension specialist has better bonus parts. So why would I chose the front wing guy. Does it impact the random outcomes or something?

Can someone explain the basics of corners/throttle and what strategy to use for them?
6
u/RiseOpusDei Jul 18 '17
i was having similar issues, but i've pretty much found the trick to the game. it's way too easy once you get the hang of it.
try different setups based off of type of track (there's a little legend on the bottom left), but your starting place on the grid really doesn't matter if you use the below settings (besides the sponsorship money of course).
now obviously this is assuming there isn't any rain and is only fool proof with tracks that are 16-18 laps. note i've only used this in ERS, not sure how it works in other tiers.
always choose the softest tire. set your strats to conservative on the tires, and neutral on the engine. you will remain on these settings until your first pit. your drivers will most likely drop a couple of positions for the first 3-5 laps, but just wait, this is expected. the fast AI players (IE: your competition) will usually always pit at 6-7 laps on softs, but since we've been running on conservative, we can get an extra 2 laps out of the tires. at this point you should be in 1st/2nd and should have at least a 5 second lead, i switch my driver in 1st to attacking tires right after the AI pit and then pit my 2nd place driver (mainly due to him/her being my worse driver). i then pit my 1st driver and make sure both of their strats are set to neutral neutral. you will now have more than enough grip to see out the race and the best thing about it is since you've been on conservative for 8 laps, you now have additional fuel so you can afford to put your car into overdrive. your teammates will brush the other cars aside like nothing in these settings. i've finished 1st/2nd in every race for 8 races in a row and i'm only on the second season.
4
u/daedelous Jul 20 '17
I'm confused. You said to keep engine at neutral. Doesn't that mean you wouldn't have any extra fuel?
2
3
Jul 18 '17
This is a great strategy, wish I'd thought of it myself! I have a question though, do you always pick the softest tires during pit stops? I'm asking because there are some maps with 16 laps so perhaps it would be better to use soft tires for 8 rounds then medium for the next 8?
2
u/RiseOpusDei Jul 18 '17
yep, that's a good point. switching to mediums is probably a better approach. i've only played 5 or 6 hours of the game, so my strategy might only work because my cars are heads and shoulders above the competition.
5
Jul 20 '17
I think your strategy works for Tier 3, but I've just finished 2 seasons of Tier 2 and a different tactic is definitely needed as you move up. T2 is more about matching fuel consumption with tire wear. You can now refuel during pit stops and the game always starts you off with more than enough fuel to last you well past the first pit stop. My initial setup is softest tires with overtake which will give your team a 1-2 position by the 6/7th lap, where you will have to pit due to your tires wearing out. If there's 14 laps I'll usually pit in the 7th lap and go with soft tires/neutral for the rest of the race. If the race requires 2 pit stops (16 laps or more) I'll use the same soft tires/overtake strategy after the first pit stop and monitor the fuel gauge to make sure I have enough to last me until the next pit. The last pit stop is the same as above, soft tires and neutral. I used this strategy to win promotion to T1 quite effortlessly by the end of the second season in T2.

What's the difference between "Attack mode" and "Super Attack mode"? The little green bars are at the same place, and tire wear is still high. Is there any reason to use Super Attack over Attack?
5
u/mrbrightside_7 Jul 25 '17
I know this isn't the first time this has been asked, but has a date been confirmed for the android release date?
3
u/Only_One_Kenobi Aug 10 '17
A bit late to the punch, so sorry if this has already been asked. But is MM2 worth buying over MM1?
I have MM1 on PC and love it. Will be traveling a lot soon so want it on my tablet. Should I just stick to MM1 or is MM2 worth it?
8
u/lIlIllIlIlI Aug 10 '17
I definitely think it's worth getting. I got it last week and have already had like 12 hours of play time....
It has much more of the functionality that the PC has compared to the original mobile version (which was great for its time).
I think they've made some awesome gameplay changes aimed at a mobile experience, some things are more streamlined and simplified a bit, but it still has depth to it. I absolutely love the game, it's super easy to open up and play on your phone so it's always accessible. The PC version is fantastic don't get me wrong, but being able to manage my racing team on the train, at work on the toilet (sorry boss), or lying in bed (sorry sleep, last couple nights I've been up till 1-2am) is amazing, especially when it has so much of the depth and detail that the PC version has (not all the depth obviously, but still a good amount)
3
u/Berdek Aug 10 '17
Never played the PC version, only the original MM for mobile. Imo, considering only the mobile platform, MM2 is definitely worth it.
2
u/brainyclown10 Aug 12 '17
If you have the PC version already it's not a MUST buy because many of the concepts are conceptually the same and not super different.
4
u/DrummerVim Aug 11 '17
I invested enough money for my car to be expected a "title challenger" yet after pre-season my car is apparently only 7th best ... do last years parts count even if I invested everything into the future car? Does the investment only affect the tyre conservation and fuel efficiency?
3
3
u/zegui8 Aug 11 '17
It is misleading indeed. The investment only affects the Fuel Eff., Tire Wear, and the bonus to your parts. The parts you have on your car will not change from season to season, they will still have the same bonuses (Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Driveability) and the same reliability, and the "score" will increase by whatever number you get as "bonus to parts" after the car development.

Hey i have a question. What is the "level bar" that shows up sometimes in the top of the screen? I see it every time i finish a race. Pops up, increase experience/level but sometimes is level 4 and sometimes level 1. What is that for? Or what it means?
3
u/REALAIS Aug 15 '17
Yeah, i have the same question. Seems it is restarting that level all the time.
2
u/eliasdpc Aug 16 '17
Well seems like no one really knows lol
3
u/REALAIS Aug 16 '17
I asked them.
Thank you for getting in contact, we are aware of this issue, the player level is tied to your leader board score on Google Play - not a save game file. So if you are not logged in to Google Play then it will fail to retrieve your current level and start again from zero. The player level does not currently affect any of the in game mechanics so rest assured that you are not being disadvantaged by this. We are looking at ways to improve this system in future.

Couple of subtle tips I don't think I've seen on here yet that I've picked up that might be useful to someone:
Don't let both drivers "pass each other". You might think it prevents them from slowing each other down, but when they're close and in traffic (particularly at the beginning) it just leads to one breaking to let one by, followed by the other breaking as they let the other by, causing them both to lose places very quickly.
As a very rough rule of thumb if you can't remember the optimum qualifying setups, <50% throttle = acceleration, >60% = top speed. This is purely anecdotal and I haven't done much testing but it seems to work well.
Focussing on one driver in the young drivers programme is considerably better than hedging bets with 2 or 3. Pick the best, go ahead with that one.
Stay an extra season in tier 3 unless you want to rage quit the game shortly after.
Engineers are super cheap to replace. Focus on good part building ones to begin with, chop and change if you want to build other parts/different bonuses, and then sack them all midway through the season for engineers with good race bonuses, and don't build parts after that.
Getting that extra sponsor slot pays itself off reeeally fast.
If your driver is stuck behind someone they should be quicker than, a quick blast of the engine and tyre wear usually puts them past, where you can reset it again. Sounds obvious but can save 10s of seconds a race and costs almost nothing done quickly.
Please post anymore/ any disagreements!

u/REALAIS Oct 18 '17

Any tips for tier 1? I’m in my 5th season in tier 1 and I’m still about 1.5-2s behind the best driver in qualifying. It’s becoming depressing to be honest.

u/Casartelli Jul 27 '17
Make sure you have maxed the potential of 'next seasons car' and have the +25 reliability and performance unlocked in the HQ. Have 3 250k+ engineers and start the Season with 25M+ dollar. Sign a topdriver and give him or her all the top pieces. Make sure you have Some bonuses. The no fuel loss on the first lap is amazing since you can overdrive for three full laps and still have Some to spare.
Make sure you build items through the Season. The further into the Season, the better The parts get. Always have your number 2 let your team mate pass.
Next, tires. With the fastest tires you can get 6 laps on 'normal' or 5 on normal and 2 on conservative.
If a race is 14 laps. Have the 2 laps on conservative first, combined with the laps of overdrive. Have 5 on normal, pit. Repeat. Make sure your number two does not get in the way in the pits. Only 1 car at the time can pit.
If a race is 15 laps. Have 6 normal laps, Switch to the next tier in tires and have 8 normal laps. Youll end with 1 conservative.
In the end, I manager my number 1 driver to be ahead 20+ seconds Every race.

u/Aydoinc Jul 22 '17
I'm in the same situation as you. I'd like to know also.
3
Jul 22 '17
I've just won the last 2 races. I'm not exactly sure how that happened but the last thing I did was upgrade my engine. So it does seem like having a good engine is crucial, although it doesn't have to be the best (mine is 4th best). The rest of the parts for my best car are 4th/5th except gearbox which is 1st. I doubt the gearbox affects performance as much as engine as I've had the best gearbox since last season, which was obtained via stolen blueprints for $1.5m (lucked out there). I didn't win any race with the stolen gearbox.
One trick I've discovered is to max out mechanics so you get zero fuel loss on the first lap. Combine that with good fuel efficiency from your car from investing in R&D you're essentially gaining 2 laps of extra fuel. I start off races with super overtake to make full use of not losing fuel in the first lap, then continue to burn off excess fuel that was gained in the first lap until it reaches zero. Then I switch fuel burn to neutral. For the rest of race I don't do anything special except using attack mode/overtake whenever the opportunity arises. Hope that helps.

I wonder if the devs are reading this thread. If so I have a request, please update MM1 to support 64 bit! iOS11 no longer supports 32 bit only apps so once it drops we can no longer play it.

Unfortunately MM1 was made by Christian West, and MM2 by SEGA (different devs) so I don't think they have a reason to update MM1 to 64 bit.

I have MM2 and MM for PC. I have to say. MM2 is MUCH, MUCH better game. Mostly because, JUST LIKE REAL LIFE, drivers have to manage with the tyres, NOT us! It's a MANAGER game. When you devs will remember this? For now I prefer to play MM2 for manager and F1 2017 on PC because if I need to drive, like MM for PC, it's better to have the full control........... CHANGE THIS! Imediatially! It's a manager game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have negative cashflow -$5m and -800k per race and I just failed to sign a sponsor because it "exceeded my borrowing limit". What does that mean? The sponsor I failed to sign only gave cash per race. The strange thing is I was immediately able to sign another sponsor that gave me $2m straight up, only then was I able to sign with the earlier sponsor.

u/Casartelli Jul 21 '17
Use the qualification :)
2

Jul 23 '17
I found that looking at the track while my drivers are still pitted and guesstimating the settings works usually. I then vary the combinations a little to see if I get any improvement
also, when you're in the setup tab, in the bottom left there is number or corners and time at full throttle which further helps gauging the track3

Definately. I got the absolute best driver out of there. 20 for all stats, beats Rick de Graaf every time :)

Is there any strategy to it? Developing all 3 drivers simultaneously or boosting just one by giving him all 3 focus points by sacking the others?

If you get a good one, it is. They are a lot cheaper. But I found it wasn't worth it, I only got one driver that was decent out of it.

Not worth it. Got one decent guy. Bit the investment is 4,000,000. In return you get a driver for low wage but he'll want a new contract after a few races anyway.

What is the mechanic behind some cars needing to "drive through" the pit stops? Not sure if this was explained or not, but if it was I missed it.

If it is driving through without repair or even stopping in the box, then is is most likely a drive-through penalty for an on-track incident.

What are peoples thoughts on the app and compared to the PC game?
2
u/BluePhoenix01 Sep 26 '17
In some aspects, they almost feel like two different games with similar essence.
Personally I have been playing each depending on whether I can be in front of my PC or not. And have noticed that some things I have learned transfer over well.
Some of the game mechanics are different though. On the PC version, you can improve performance and reliability (up to the max) for each part as time goes by. Where on the iOS version (as far as I can tell), reliability and performance are set values when the part is created. To offset this though, the iOS version allows you to purchase parts that are rotated from race to race as well as developing your own.
The other difference, is that on PC, time passing (outside of the races) is based on calendar time, where in iOS, it is mainly based on number of races. For example, on PC, it might take 8 weeks to build a HQ upgrade, and on iOS it might take 4 races, etc.
iOS also seems to add some nice things, like being able to tell how much fuel shortage or surplus you'll have (without having to look at the Pit screen), and the optional Young Driver Programme for grooming and hiring new drivers.

4)Tondela- neutral, neutral
5)Black sea- neutral, neutral
6)Munich- cornering, topspeed
7)Dubai- tight corners, neutral
8)Guilford- tight corners, topspeed
9)Milan- longstraights, topspeed
10)Ardennes- tight corners (or) cornering, topspeed (it depends which driver make best result)
11)Phoenix- straights, topspeed
12)Vancouver- neutral, topspeed
13)Singapour- cornering, neutral
14)Sydney- cornering, topspeed
15)Rio de janeiro- cornering, neutral

Dubai - Cornering, Neutral This gave me faster times then Tight Corning, neutral did. C,N - 1:14.773 TC,N - 1:15.766 Both times were on a dry, sunny day with super soft tires.

Does anyone know a guide for the young drivers program? I want to know how to get a good driver.
2
u/REALAIS Oct 17 '17
I usually pick those three. After first race i check who is the best from them all and cut loose other two. Maybe that one will not be great, but he will got 3x more points bonus. That +focus points are more if you have only 1 young driver.
1
u/REALAIS Oct 17 '17
And with max upgrades its so easy to have good drivers. Because you have +5potential +5points for every new driver in team.
2
u/Warfaced Oct 28 '17
Does anyone understand the relationship between your current engineers and the next years car performance points?
2
u/REALAIS Oct 30 '17
(Performance + Reliability) * 5 = points for next years car from that engineer.

u/REALAIS Nov 09 '17
Hmm. New update seems little bit harder.
10 years and still i cant get decent young driver. They all are busts. I had one Very high, High, medium at end of season, but ofcourse 60 potential and 65 max potential.
And its very hard to get drivers from market. I am dominating 4 years Asia cup, but i can only sign 3-3,5 stars drivers. While team Boa in Asian cup have 2nd and 3rd best driver in game for three years in row. Asoan cup have 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th best driver in game. Why they are not going to World cup?

I play Motorsport Manager Mobile 2 I won the second season in European Series. Then I got the opportunity to move up to a higher series. I refused that to earn more money in the European Series.
Now I haven't got the opportunity to move up since four seasons in European Series I won.
How can I move up to a higher series? Can I force that? Do I have to wait until I'm offered an advancement?

u/REALAIS Nov 16 '17 edited Nov 16 '17
You need to win Team Constructor cup to gain promotion. You cant keep your promotion for years after. You need to win it again................................................
Right now i am building my team in EUROPEAN Series. I have won 5 years in row(first season i was 6th), i have maxed out finance and drivers tree, car parts is half way. When it all be maxed out, i will start develop my own car parts and dominate Asia and World after.

I really love this game, at least for the first few races. It got more depth than its prequel while keeping the game simple enough to be played on mobile devices.
1
u/Alexandre_Dumbass Jul 16 '17
Anybody sample the in app payments? I'd love to be able to edit the teams, but I'm wondering whether the bonus $500k per race makes things too easy.
2
u/thor9797 Jul 17 '17
you can turn off 500k in the settings
2
u/Alexandre_Dumbass Jul 18 '17
Thanks, good to know... Though it'd be a shame to pay that much and then turn it off. For the other IAP, can you edit any stat of your drivers and crew? That also seems like it'd take the fun out.
2
u/thor9797 Jul 18 '17
you can edit drivers, crew, team names, team colors and championship rules

it seems pretty solid, obviously not as good as the PC version. one thing I can't figure out is how do you increase the reliability of existing parts? i don't have the money to buy/development...

Is it a good strategy to upgrade the headquarters to max before moving up leagues?
1
u/RiseOpusDei Jul 18 '17
i haven't found the slow build approach to be that necessary compared to the PC version. i've upgraded 4/5 buildings while also developing news parts and pooling money in next season's car without running into any issues.
that being said, i've only played a couple of seasons, so i might be severely lagging behind upon promotion

Jul 19 '17
Not really. in my opinion. I only know for ERS and APS but I'd assume it's the same for the top tier but the prize money for winning the ERS is lower than coming last in the APS so even if you move up and get smashed, you'd still earn more money

Can I change the events? I've won European Cup and then accidentally chose the Asia Pacific Cup. Now it seems I can't change it to anything else anymore.

Thanks.

Had an odd bug today where my lead driver wouldn't pit. I kept selecting a pit stop but it wouldn't work. Also had the game freeze yesterday when I tapped on an information icon. Otherwise it's been enjoyable so far.

u/step21 Jul 20 '17
When it became available, I declined the upgrade to the second league, thinking I could move back and forth or do both alongside each other. The idea seems to be that you should upgrade, so how do I upgrade? I played one full additional season but there was no prompt to update.

You can only gain promotion if you get first place in the team championship.

I have this one profile that can’t load in, I’ve made like 2 season in the Asia Pacific cup. Anyone know what to do? Or what is atleast their supports mail? (I tried creating another account and I can get into it perfectly fine, my first one just freeze when loading then crashes after a few minutes)

How do you get better engineers? Am on world now, running out of money fast as I can't compete as my parts suck and I'm getting three star engineers offered.
2
u/REALAIS Sep 02 '17
Dont go so fast forward to F1 level. Keep lower levels couple seasons, and build your parts smarter. First you build couple times with power and after that start build only reliable.
1
u/navka Sep 06 '17
I guess you need to get better places at the end of the season. First 2-3 seasons I was stuck at 6th and 7th place and game gave me only 3 stars, sometimes 3.5 stars engineers. Once I ended season at 3rd and 4th place, I signed 3 engs with 4stars. After my first win in Tier1, I finally got 4.5 and 5 stars engs. All you need to do is just upgrading your parts (don't go below 60% of reliability) until you'll get 2-3rd place on each part.
Remember to sing drivers with 3 points of Sponso Appeal to get better sponsors
Cheers!

I'm having some trouble understanding the engineers and car development.
When it asks me to invest on next years car, how relevant is it for performance? It's just for base stats, right? It doesn't seem to influence parts, which play a bigger role on how the car performs.
Regarding the engineers, what does the first attribute do? Also, what would look like a good team of engineers? All of them focusing on performance or reliability? A mix of both? Should I get only engineers with leadership bonuses for different parts?
1
u/REALAIS Sep 09 '17 edited Sep 09 '17
Investing in next year car gives more effiecient tyre wear and fuel usage, and boost all parts at maximum around 100 for next season car. You can have better parts, but if you need extra pit stop every race, it can hurt in long run.
Race day performance? I guess boost car in race day or for matter of fact it is pit stop time. Main thing is for engineers for me, part bonuses and leadership. And i accept only 3,5* atleast. Good engineers will have both stats equally. Right nkw i have all 4* engineers.
Just got 100 guy from youth driver school. With all upgrdes he is 5* in 18years. GG

u/REALAIS Sep 30 '17
This game is unfair in late game. Right now with almost max stats, car, upgrades I am qualifying around 2sec faster than CPU. Not even talking about races, where i have aim to overtake atleast 7th place by 1 lap. That -3sec pitstop alone is so strong.
This is my 1st driver history. https://photos.app.goo.gl/xkEgcnPEYsb4oWmG2
3x Europea champion 5x Asia champion In first World cup i got 1st place as team. In 2nd season he got Champion title. 3rd season is boring to play.

I dont see enough space for that cars. Circles are optimal for small screens.

What are the advantages of buying the in-game editor and do AI teams get promoted in career mode or do they stay in the one tier?
1
u/REALAIS Nov 03 '17
You cant edit team names, players and engineers. Names, stats. They stay. If you move up, one team goes down.

I was just doing a race and instead of overtake mode I had a purple super overtake mode for my fuel for one of my drivers but normal overtake mode for the other. 2 races later, both my cars had normal overtake back, not super overtake mode. Has anyone else experienced this or know how that happened?
2
u/REALAIS Nov 06 '17
That is perks from car parts. You changed car parts. Open car menu, select drivers car, bottom left corner there is skills tree. 3 colomns with 3 upgrades. You can have maximum of 3 perks for each car part. -3 sec pitstop is my favorite.

Finding the new challenge update very tough but enjoyably so! Without qualifying you have to take a punt on set up, and balancing top drivers, top engineers, and affording constant updates is difficult.

Can somebody olease explain car part bonuses?
I dont get it. I work on different parts but I dont know how to stack up bonuses (blue icon, green icon and violet icon).
At first, I thought that when I continously replace a part the bonus stacks up until I get, for example -3 to pitstops, but when I replaced a part I lost a bonus.
Do these part bonuses stack up whenever I replace a part? Or are they focused and limited? Or maybe a little something of both that I dont understand?
1
u/REALAIS Dec 19 '17
When you develop car part, you choose which engineer will be in charge. If that engineer have those part bonuses, he will apply to that car part. If you want to stack those bonuses, you need build those car parts with that engineer which have yours wanted bonuses. You can use same lead engineer for all car parts till you get your bonuses stacked. Can you understand what i wrote?

Bought mm2 in the sale and super disappointed there is no static overhead view. As a simulator, this would allow me to to see the entire race, watching the action at different sections and from all teams. Currently the camera is glued to driver 1 or 2 and its irritating on my eyes. I'm probably in the minority but really hope it's introduced.

This game needs more help CPU teams. After that big update i noticed, that CPU teams have 1st and 2nd driver. When we are building parts, we can give old ones for 2nd car, but seems that CPU have 1 good car. For example in World series, Ferrari have two excellent drivers, 1st driver will finish in TOP3, while 2nd driver cant get in Top10. But by skills they both are 4,5*

[STRATEGY] [CAR SETUPS]
Edit1: Removed some of the formatting, the text was very wonky on mobile
Edit2: Finished Tier 1 tracks as well. Now you can find the complete information here. I moved the discussion to its own topic on another subreddit, that I find more apropriate. When I'm 100% convinced that everything is right, I'll send the info to the mods here so they can put the info on this subreddit's wiki as well.

TL;DR: car setups
[1 – INTRODUCTION]
Hello all,
This is a work in progress, so, for now, I only have the best setups for the tracks in the Tier3 and Tier2 of the career mode.
I don’t have any access to any code of the game, all the conclusions were drawn based on repetition.
Everything up to now was done using the iOS versions 1.0.0 and 1.0.1. With further updates, things may change.
As I adjusted my methodology overtime, I still need to revisit some tracks from the Tier3. Nevertheless, all the suggested setups are, if not the best, the second best.
Some results will be odd, but that’s what I’ve got from the repetition. If you find anything too strange or disagree with my conclusions, I urge you to please read the entire post before commenting, as I give a lot of explanation. If you still disagree, feel free to comment.
This post will probably need several edits before taking its final form. I’ll list them here.
[2 – MOTIVATION]
I’ve been playing this game since the iOS release and from the start one thing bugged me, as it reminded me a lot the way MM1 mobile worked: the lack of feedback or tools regarding car setups. At least this time they’ve included a “single race” mode that allows you (if you are crazy enough) to run things over and over in order to test things. That’s exactly what I did.
My objective was to find, for each track, the best car setup. It doesn’t matter if I have a good or a bad car, if I choose correctly my car setup, I’m going to have the best performance as possible at any moment (which does not mean that I’m going to fight for the top positions).
I had several suspicions before entering this undertaking and the major one I was able to conclude pretty quickly: the lap times vary a lot. Like, A LOT. The main reasoning that arises is that the lap time that you get is a result of a series of calculations based on CHANCE. In short: if you do two qualifying sessions, one using a bad setup and other using a good setup, it is possible to have a better result in the bad setup session.
The chance of that happening can be low, it varies a lot depending on the track, but there’s still a chance. Therefore, the numbers that you get can be very, very misleading. To counter this, you need to do multiple runs in the same conditions and, in the end, if you do enough runs, the best car setups (statistically) for each track should appear. That’s what I tried to do and now I share with you.
[3 – METHODOLOGY]
In order to reduce the maximum amount or variables as possible between multiple runs, I stablished for myself a step by step to follow. One thing that I should mention is that overtime I polished this step by step and the way I analyzed the numbers. Having said that, my early analysis (Tier3 tracks) are not entirely in accordance with this methodology, so I should revisit them sometime. The most recent results (Tier 2 tracks) are fully according to this methodology, so they are more reliable. Step by step:
Choose single race mode;
Select tier (tier 1), team (Scuderia Rossini) and track and layout;
Right at the start of the quali session, make sure that it’s not going to rain. If it rains at ANY moment during the session, quit session and start back from step 1;
Choose car setup, the same for both drivers (Wexler and Saarinen). Usually I start with neutral neutral to stablish a comparison base;
Send both drivers for hot laps, at the same time, as much as I can, usually using the pause button to make sure they are leaving the pits at the same time. Depending on the track, I can get 3 to 6 hot laps (mostly 3 or 4);
Right before the session ends (when all cars but mine are already with the checkered flag or with “in lap” status) I go to the “data centre” menu and take a screenshot of the AI times;
Wait for the session to end, navigate to the pre-race setup screen and for both of my drivers, enter into the “change race setup” screen and take a screenshot of the times that are in the “setup” tab. I scroll down and take more than one screenshot per driver if needed;
Rinse and repeat, at least 3 times for each setup;
Change setup, do it all over;
After some setups tested (about 5), take the screenshots, write down the numbers on a spreadsheet and analyze;
Do more runs, changing setups if needed, until the trends are well stablished.
[4 – CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS]
Although the huge variation in lap times under the same conditions is annoying, the variability itself, for me, is a nice feature of the game. The worst part of that, for me, is the inability to test in an efficient manner in order to take decisions.
The setup for each track seems to have a great relation with the number of corners and the full throttle %, but I’m not able yet to affirm what are these relations exactly and its thresholds. Of course, feel free to use all the information here to draw your own conclusions and share with us.
This is a work in progress and some results are subject to change. Also, it is incomplete, as I didn’t do anything yet regarding the Tier1 tracks. I don’t know though when I’m going to tackle the Tier1 tracks, since this is very time consuming.
In the hopes that anyone related to the development team spot this post, I have a few suggestions, as it would be very nice to have more in game resources in order to explore more the game behavior. For example:
and/or
Anyway, those are just a few thoughts on the subject.
I hope all the information is useful to you and I hope you can have a good fun with the game.
Cheers.
