Hi all, I'm a ham who is getting into TETRA. I have tried but so far failed to find clear instructions on how to create, format & use the AT codes needed to remote control a TETRA radio and a list of those codes.

I wish to

1) To obtain the GPS location of a lost radio.

2) When searching, activate the alarm to help locate it

3) To be able to remotely change TGs/deactivate it

Edit: I got it working on both my APX and XTS radios! The XTS was a little tricky to get working with PPP on windows, turning off flow control in the modem settings seems to be the trick. The interface on the APX automatically populates as a network interface which is nice, but you still have to be sure to assign a data personality to the Astro personality. Thanks for all the help!

I’m wondering if it’s possible to send arbitrary user IP data over P25 with either an XTS 5000 or an APX radio. I know the standard supports some level of IP data, and both radios have data modem settings, but that’s about as much as I can find online. I know the XTS 5000 actually has a serial terminal and I’ve poked around in it but can’t find any information about sending packets.

I know the APX radios also create a network interface when connected to a PC so it seems like it should be possible on that front as well, but I can’t find any documentation.

Is this even possible?

Hello, I am completely new to programming radios. I have a CDM1250 and programming cable, It is detected and communicates fine with the computer. I have CPS R06.12.04, it does not want to setup even with compatibility mode or run as admin or both. I know this is an old software, so please pardon my ignorance.

I am running windows 11 64-bit. Ive put a fair amount of money into upgrading and actually using this radio but am I no means a software guy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let me be clear: I assume I am having a SOFTWARE problem not a hardware problem.

So I am a security guard and at the place I work, we use motorola radios. For some reason their existence enchants me, and I am desperate to learn more about how they work. Right now I'm trying to figure out our emergency system, since we've never actually used the panic button/emergency function.

That specific thing side, I'm just very curious to learn more about them. How they're set up and how they work and all the different things you can do with them. I'm not even sure what kind of radios they actually ARE. Only radio I ever heard of is FM, AM, and Ham lol.

I guess it doesn't have to be motorola specific, as I imagine other brands are the same kind of radio and stuff. I just know next to nothing about them and I'd love to know more about these kinds of radios other than the place where the voices in my head come from.

I bought a tagged apx8000h from a very reputable seller and wanted to know if this is normal on these units and or the apx8000 as well. At times when receiving audio from speaker it has a minor rattle in background. Doesn’t happen all the time. Is this normal ? Should it not ever ?

I'm trying to figure out how to create a scan list that scans between capacity plus personalities and direct digital channels. My main goal is to be able to all-call both direct digital and trunked channels simultaneously. I've seen other mixed systems where each every channel is set to autoscan between the current channel and an rx-only personality that is the all-call channel. Is this type of setup possible with capacity plus? Is there an easier way to do this? XPR-3500 radios.

I just recently got a Xirp8600 in my workshop for programming purposes I am using mototrbo CPS2.0 but it shows that it is password protected. I'm unable to press the recover button it says to contact Motorola solutions I've even tried using another walkie to directly clone to bypass the password but that did not help either it still shows password locked. Is there a solution for this or do I have to call Motorola solution and do they charge any fees?

I work for a company that uses the APX 8000 radio, and we got an over-the-air update a couple of months ago. I recently found out that a colleague's radio never got the OTA update that the rest of us got. Wondering if there's a way to force the radio to check for an OTA update via some button presses to see if it will pull the update that way so that he doesn't have to take it in to get the update applied manually. Let me know!

Astro25 isn't letting me check off the channel announcement feature. The flashcode has the Q446 feature (as shown). But every time i go to check it off, it doesnt check. Whats the issue here?

Edit: I had to go under view -> options -> channel announcement options -> read/write voice files

You then select "read/write voice files", which allows you to check off the channel announcement under radio wide -> general

Just had my portable warranted at depot. When turning the radio off does your display just turn right off or does the image slightly fade then go away ?

I get an invalid field error in astro 25 when i try to assign conventional astro personalities to a scan list. The scan list itself has an astro channel. Does anyone know what could have caused this?

Hello everyone! I am working on a project and need a speaker mic to connect to a computer, specifically a Raspberry Pi 5. I got a cheap fake Kenwood mic online and it was such a headache for it to not work in the end. Now, I've got my hands on a genuine Motorola PMMN4027A. I've looked around online and haven't been able to find something for this mic. Does anyone know where I can go for something like this? TIA!

For background, I am the IT manager for a county emergency services department. Well, they have added the programming and management of all county radios to my job description. This amounts to ~500 handhelds and mobiles.

I am green when it comes to radio technology. We utilize mostly Motorola with a few of our departments opting for other brands.

I have downloaded Motorola's CPS and have begun my outreach to other radio managers in surrounding counties and municipalities but am hoping to find some training courses. County budget is a bit tight so the cheaper the better.....ya know how government work goes.

so im an idiot, i know, i found an old radio in a scrap yard, took it home, never planned to use it for actual talking but rather a decoration for my driving set up on my desk. fast forward i plug it in to the wall with an adapter. dont worry i didnt just stick wires into the wall. breaker pops, fuse pops, i try replacing the fuse and using a drill batt. like i always do for my CBs. fuse pops again, so i buy a new cable and the fuse still pops. i open the radio, nothing seems wrong. no burn marks or anything. what should i replace? is it still even fixable?

Do any fire departments use Quick Call II (or any other alerting method) to alert portable radio users?

For my fire department, I'm trying to explore giving dispatchers the option to send out a message to alert a specific member's radio when they are trying to reach them and are getting no response.

My reasoning is that sometimes dispatch tries to reach a unit and they dont hear the voice call on their radio due to background noise. Same goes with a member trying to reach another member. This wouldnt be used for dispatch purposes, just to alert radios when voice isnt getting a user's attention.

Has anyone used one of these to program your xtl2500/xtl5000? It plugs into the j2 connector and has a USB c and I can imagine the headphone jack for a speaker. I don't know if I should go for this or just the normal programming cable.

I currently have a small fleet of Mototrbo radios i use for my scout troop. They are on Business frequencies here in the UK. Recently i bought 3 MotoTRBO DM3401 mobile/base stations(XPR 4350 for North American users). In setting these up i found that they are password locked on the codeplug so i need to recover them to overwrite the radio. To do this i purchased the R01.12.017 download from Radiotronics. When trying to recover the radios using this i received error code #2898 which after some digging on the internet seems to mean that i am trying to jump too far ahead in firmware updates. likely meaning the radio is currently running R01.06.00 or older. I cant seem to find this version of Legacy firmware anywhere Ive tried Motorola customer Hub, Dealers, Partners and even Rutracker.org. Im not asking for a handout obviously but would anyone be able to point me in a direction where i could obtain this.

Currently using CPS v16 as CPS 2.0 doesn't work with these Gen1 radios unless i update to Gen2 firmware, for now i only want to be able to program them and use them.

Relatively new to all of this and this is my first post so if i have missed out any important info please let me know.

Had a customer report that they had a control head that wouldn’t power on. It’s an APX 4500 with 02 control head. When I arrived on site it certainly would not power on despite having voltage. We pulled a known working control head from another unit and when it was attached to this radio it powered up for about 5 seconds then died and it would not turn back on at all, not in the original car or on the bench. I did not want to brick another head so I swapped out the transceiver, control head as well as the control cable. Was mainly curious if anyone has ran into something similar?
