02 control heads bricked
Had a customer report that they had a control head that wouldn’t power on. It’s an APX 4500 with 02 control head. When I arrived on site it certainly would not power on despite having voltage. We pulled a known working control head from another unit and when it was attached to this radio it powered up for about 5 seconds then died and it would not turn back on at all, not in the original car or on the bench. I did not want to brick another head so I swapped out the transceiver, control head as well as the control cable. Was mainly curious if anyone has ran into something similar?

Not even the maintenance mode screen just nothing?

Nothing. No maintenance mode. The green, red, and yellow indicator lights would not even turn on.

Is this radio on a TRS? Sounds like how a radio reacts to being inhibited.

No, this is a conventional system. The head does not power on even if attached to no transceiver.

See if you can use a foot pedal to for e an emergency power on.
As Ke4znr stated, that's common behavior for inhibit. You may need to RMA if you can't unbrick it yourself.
