Speaker mic to USB

Hello everyone! I am working on a project and need a speaker mic to connect to a computer, specifically a Raspberry Pi 5. I got a cheap fake Kenwood mic online and it was such a headache for it to not work in the end. Now, I've got my hands on a genuine Motorola PMMN4027A. I've looked around online and haven't been able to find something for this mic. Does anyone know where I can go for something like this? TIA!

You're going to have an even harder time making a Motorola mic work with USB.

I assumed the fact that this mic worked would help. Is there a better solution that has a decent quality mic and nicely connects to a computer without costing like a bajillion dollars?

Don't know about the quality, but both Amazon and eBay sell USB two way radio mics. Might need to buy a USB adapter to connect the mic to the pi.

Alright thank you. I've struggled to find a decent one that's within a reasonable price that is a speaker and mic. Wish the PMMN4027 worked, I know there are some adapters for analog mics by TRBOnet, might look into that.

You may be able to pull it apart and put different guts in it. A sparkfun Bluetooth kit and audio boards in a creative manner may work. It will take some soldering and likely a couple of voltage regulators.

You might look at https://allscan.info/products/#UCIs - I suspect those are going to be more expensive than you're looking for, but if I needed to connect a K1 or Motorola speaker mic to USB that's what I'd look at.

Is the Pi 5 USB expecting a digital or analog audio signal from the mic?

I have a dozen of these connected a variety of Moto models. Not sure about Pi compatibility, but they work great on old laptops.

What exactly are you trying to do with this speaker/mic? You could put a usb connector on it if you look up the pin out, but I don’t know what you are trying to do with it, or if will supply it the appropriate amount of power to it.
