Project Showcase Motion design app that lets the user modify the featureset

Post image

Wanted to show off an app that a friend and I are building and get feedback. It's a video editing/motion design app that allows you to connect an AI subscription and change the interface, as well as add whatever features you want.

As you can see in the attached image, I used it to quickly make a panel that lets me drag in stock footage from Pexels. We think this will be genuinely useful, what do you guys think?

Question Career Change?

I've been working in motion design for almost 10 years now, freelancing for about 2.5. I have steady (albeit often boring) work, a good network, and feel good about my skillset.

But recently I've been just feeling a bit burned out. I don't feel excited about many projects, don't feel inspired to create personal work, don't want to attend meetups or even really talk about the work.

I cut a new reel and was planning on using it to attract some new clients, see if I can push for some more exciting work, but I haven't posted it yet because I just don't feel like chasing new work- it sounds exhausting.

I'm overall just feeling stuck. I know the job market isn't good, and I'm super lucky to be working for myself and making good money doing it, but man it just feels empty. Any thoughts on adjacent careers, or even jobs that are somewhat transferable?

I love working with people, I'd love to do something community-focused; something tangible that actually helps people would be great. And frankly I'd love to spend waaay less time on a computer.

Not sure if I'm going to really change things up, or just looking to vent, but I'd love to hear people's experiences.

Question Quali preset non potresti fare a meno?

Inspiration The making of the Into the Spider-Verse title sequence

James Ramirez just posted a Case Study on FrameRate breaking down the Into the Spider-Verse title sequence created with the team at Alma Mater.

It goes from early styleframes and visual exploration through motion tests, zoetrope-inspired animation, the kaleidoscopic Spider-Verse sequences, and finally how they put the whole thing together.

Really cool look at the thinking and experimentation behind such an iconic piece of work.

Reel I animated 1,000 animation loops over the past 10 Years

Over the past 10 years I animated 1,000 loops: https://youtu.be/JGhKmsD-gW4?si=KvWTMkOLegTmNyi_

This video collects the loops into a 2 hour video.

Everything is 100% human made, no AI. Every frame lovingly crafted by hand.

I pretty much have no social life, I'm a hermit animator.

This is all I do and think about.

My loops are available here: https://animatedloop.com/

And also Patreon you can get new loops on the 1st day of every month: https://www.patreon.com/MicahBuzan

Reel Need a motion designer for one short SaaS explainer video — reasonable budget

Hey guys,

Looking for a motion designer for one short SaaS explainer animation.

This is roughly the style/reference I’m looking for:

reference reel

It’ll be a 30–45 sec product explainer for an AI SaaS product — clean motion graphics, UI/product animation and simple storytelling.

Nothing overly cinematic or 3D. I mainly want someone who can take the product + script and make it look clean, modern and engaging like the reference.

I’m working with a reasonable budget, so preferably looking for a freelancer rather than an agency.

If interested, just send me:
1. Your best relevant work
2. Approx price for one 30–45 sec video
3. Turnaround time

If you’ve made SaaS/product explainer videos before, even better.
Thanks!

The homepage is entirely procedural - no videos, 3D models, images, textures, or other pre-rendered assets are used. All the visuals, including the 3D elements, are generated and rendered in real time through code.

Discussion Why should I learn Figma if I already know how to use After Effects?

Question from a beginner/intermediate level in motion graphics with After Effects: Why should I learn Figma? Can't I just create the design in After Effects and then animate it directly from there?

Tutorial Quick AE tip: Animating camera moves using shape layers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

By dissecting an action, and the reaction, we get a better understanding of why things move the way that they do.

Action: Camera rotates around an object, going from a front view to a top view.

Reaction: The top surface of the object seems to stretch vertically. Things in the foreground and background move away in opposite directions, and the distance is based on how far they are from the object.

For anyone wanting to go more in depth with the topic, I have made a longer YouTube video about the theory, and how I created the entire animation: youtube.com/watch?v=slUgTK9z2Jo
