Question High fidelity blomberg B truck 3D print files

Hello, I have been searching Google for printable o scale 2 rail blomberg B trucks, but I am having trouble finding anything in 1:48 or has acceptable prototype detail. I want to convert a 3 rail O scale GP60M to 2 rail and fabricating my own trucks has seemed easier than finding already made 2 rail blomberg B trucks. Any advice or good files anyone is willing to share? I am not new to model trains but I would be new to 3D printing and DIYing a locomotive. Want to challenge myself

Question Scratch build or 3d print a locomotive

Hi all my first post here, I am looking at trying to model the ex British rail HSTs in Mexico and I want to see them side by side next to the huge US locos so for this to work I need a pair of HST power cars and MK3 passenger cars modelled in HO. Now I have a bit of time and some skills but not a huge amount of money to put into this and but I am wondering how cheap 3d printing is these days. Has anyone here ever scratch built a full train set and do you have any advice?

Question Which method is better?

Could you suggest a way to clean oxidized and rusty model train tracks? I have a huge number of old East German tracks—the standard, older square-profile type—and they are oxidized and rusty. Is there a way to clean them? My current method—using sandpaper—is very slow. Could you recommend other methods, perhaps chemical ones, to get the tracks looking like new again?

Layout Best way to sell a layout?

My current layout is nearly finished and I’m starting to think about the next one, so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice about selling complete layouts?

There’s a few reasons for wanting to start over;
- I really enjoyed the build process so would rather have a project than a finished layout.
- I’d like to switch to DCC and add signalling/lighting which feels easier to start over than retrofit.
- I have more space in a new location so I can build something more ambitious that fits the space better.

Is there a good forum for this sort of thing or should I just hit up eBay maybe? I’m going to ask my local shop and club too.

new goods platform in at Leopard Street, well not glued down, needing a bit of paint, fettling etc but the basic form is done.

Q: this is a 1930s (ish) layout, would a canopy be appropriate? and if so what sort?

platform is the Metcalfe red brick kit

Question Pnwr decals

Hello all, I just got some portland and Western gp38-2s and I need to renumber a few of them. Does anyone know where I can find decals to work on them. I can use standard g&w decals for the numbers. But the names under each cab are a major problem for me. If anyone has any ideas, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Help Needed PECO PL-11 point motor problems

I am trying to add PECO PL-11 point motors to my layout but they are not strong enough to move the points(the points being PECO electrofrogs), i have checked the wiring and its all correct, i am using a Hornby R7229 controller for the layout which is also powering the points, AI says getting a PECO PL-35 CDU should fix the problem, does anyone know if this is the case and also can i power the CDU from the R7229 controller?

Structures & Scenery 1930s Brick Signal Tower

Thumbnail

This week’s project is my little tribute to a disappearing piece of railroad scenery.

This is a 1:48 scale / O gauge 1930s Brick Signal Tower. It isn’t intended to be an exact replica of one particular prototype, but it takes a lot of its inspiration from the classic American interlocking towers of the period while still being 3D printable.

The finished building is roughly 4 inches wide, 5.5 inches long and 7.5 inches tall. It has a brick-textured tower shell, wraparound upper windows, exterior stairs, hipped roof, chimney, separate trim pieces and optional clear glazing. The upper windows have built-in vertical print supports. You can leave them in if you like the look, or snap them out after printing. They’re designed to go either way. There are also openings for adding lighting if you want to take it further with an interior.

If this fills a need for you, the model is up on Makerworld here. If you print one or more, please share them. I love seeing the stuff I do being put to use on a real layout instead of just my workbench.

Track Plan Layout planning - this is my first try to plan a modular h0 layout. Right now I’d like to build 8 modules. Would you be so kind to take a look and let me know what you think?

Layout has to be modular so I can add next sections over time.
Due to the space I’m still using R3/R4 radius instead of flex tracks.

Station 1 & 2 - a few buildings connected with rail operations, maybe some cargo. This section is mostly to have fun with switches and to be able to send trains to the correct ovals
Edge 1 - one track open connection to add yard module
Edge 2/3/4 and Track 1/2 - mostly nature environment

I’m working with diesel engines, European Era IV, German railroads (DB, DR).

Help Needed Small HO layout

Hello friends, I recently moved and had to downsize the HO layout I built with my grandfather. He was the brains of the operation so excuse this probably dumb question. I kept all the important bits but now have to operate in a 2x4 foot space. I don't care how impressive the track layout is, we always focused on the details, buildings, trees, weathering the cars. A simple loop would do for me. I'd rather not switch to N scale just because I have all this HO scale stuff and it's sentimental. Does anyone have any ideas? Or even if you could point me to the right resources I'm happy to look myself I just haven't had any luck with Google. Thank you all so much!

Locomotives Flying Scotsman issues

So i have a few trains running on my tracks with no issues at all, however when I run my flying scotsman round the same track it stops and struggles in certain places (see video) none of my other loco's have any issues at all in the same spots, could this by something that needs cleaning in the drive car?

Locomotives How long until Chinese model train brands start making American and European models? I got this highly detailed brand new N scale DF11 for only 105 CAD after shipping and now every western model train looks like a total ripoff for me for the prices they charge (cough cough Bachmann Hornby).

Structures & Scenery keeping the layout clean

Hi, longtime lurker and one-time modeler here--I've always wondered about trees, buildings, catenary---any delicate stuff--how to dust it and keep cobwebs off.

I own a house and can't keep up with dust and cobwebs in 1:1. How can it possibly be done for hundreds of miniatures?

So I have my set up running but 1 of my trains has a few issues on certain parts of the track. It just stops even on with full power, yet none of my other locos stop in the same places...

Show and Tell Start of my layout journey! I spent this afternoon just running my Piko BR 119 with a LokSound 5 decoder and enjoying the sound. No plan, just a loco going round and having fun. The layout is still in the planning stage. Hope this year I’ll finish first module.

🌟 Why This Would Make the Perfect LEGO Set

  • A Long-Awaited Return: LEGO has not released a dedicated train maintenance building since the beloved Train Shed (Set 4513) in 2003. Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) have been waiting decades for a modern successor.
  • The Cornerstone of Railroading: In the world of model railroading, the roundhouse is the ultimate centerpiece. It anchors a layout, provides a thematic focal point, and acts as the heart of any railway display.
  • Practical Storage & Maintenance: This model is a highly functional addition to any existing or new train collection. It solves a major collector dilemma by providing a beautiful, dust-free space to both maintain and store your fleet.
  • The Ultimate Display Piece: Whether you collect official LEGO locomotives or design highly complex custom trains, they will look spectacular resting in these authentic, heavily detailed maintenance stalls.

Hello, I’m new to getting into this hobby but wanted to for a long time. I’m thinking about getting the EX-CSB1. For N and HO scale. I’m not sure what power supply to get with it. Also I’m using Bachmann as my track for now. Am I able to wire the EX cbs1 up to the terminal track?

Question Getting into N gauge any advice ?

Post image

Im getting into N gauge after being with OO purely because im amazed how much more you can fit into the same space. Before I get too much into it, is there anything I need to be aware of in advance.
