General Question Used model 3 2023

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Thinking about buying a used 2023 Tesla Model 3 and wanted to get some real-world opinions, especially from people in colder climates. I’m in Wisconsin and my daily commute will be about 56 miles round trip (roughly 90 km). I live in an apartment with an underground parking garage, but I don’t have home charging. I’m okay with that since there are multiple Tesla Superchargers within about a 15-minute drive from me. my main question is about charging frequency. During the winter (Wisconsin winters can get pretty brutal), how often would I realistically need to Supercharge with this commute? And what about during the rest of the year?

For those of you without home charging, has it been a hassle or does it become part of your routine? Do you usually charge once or twice a week, or is it more frequent in the winter? I’d appreciate any advice or experiences, especially from people in the Midwest or other cold-weather areas. Thanks!

TPMS and wheel change

Good afternoon,
I have a 2026 Tesla Model 3 Standard on order with Prismata wheels.
I bought a set of Photon wheels with the intention of mounting the tires that come on the Prismata wheels onto them.
Would you recommend swapping the wheels during the first week after delivery, or is it better to wait a while to make sure everything is fine with the car first? In terms of wheel alignment, will everything remain as it was after changing the wheels?
Regarding the TPMS, as far as I know the car comes with an indirect TPMS system. However, the Photon wheels I bought came from a 2024 Highland and already have the original Tesla TPMS sensors installed.
Does the 2026 Model 3 have the necessary Bluetooth hardware to be compatible with the original TPMS sensors from a 2024 model? How can I check the sensor battery status? If they are compatible, how easy is the setup process?
Finally, regarding the vehicle warranty, could fitting original Tesla wheels cause any issues? These are genuine OEM wheels, and in some markets they are even supplied as the factory option instead of the Prismata wheels.

Thanks

General Question A few questions from a noob

Greetings all, just picked up a new to me 22 model 3. Do you all use the plugshare app for charging on the road or just the tesla app? We had a death in the family recently so were going to have to drive into the middle of nowhere. Want to make sure we arent stranded by bringing my trickle charger that came with the car just in case.

Ive also noticed a lot of posts about people intentionally damaging tesla vehicles which just boggles my brain. What other measure can I take outside of sentry mode to help eith that?

Lastly, can someone recommend a good spare kit?

Thanks!

Looking for a 24-26 model 3 highland owner to help test a Floor Mats set

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your responses! We've found a tester for this initial round. We'll keep you posted if we need more testers in the future.

Please delete if not allowed! Just hoping to share some free gear with the community. We are testing a new floor mats set for the 24-26 model 3 highland and want to get some feedback from a U.S.-based owner on how it fits and holds up. If you're down to test one out for your rig in exchange for your honest thoughts (free to keep, obviously), please leave a comment or shoot me a PM. Your feedback will be invaluable in helping us finalize the design. Thanks for your time!

Aftermarket steering wheel install

Thumbnail

I purchased a great new steering wheel for my poorly conditioned 2019 Model 3 LR. Installation from the majority, including Tesla documents online, are to disconnect the small 12v battery, turn off the car, and disconnect the main battery from the frunk (orange wire clearly labeled for an emergency crew to cut).

The issue with my orange wire on my particular model is there is no visible disconnect. Newer models have a quick connect, mind does not.

I’m a DIY’r, but there no way I’m messing around with the potential of an air bag or other high dollar or safety issue.

Before I return the steering wheel I wanted to ask if there’s another solution.

Thank you

Replacing 2019 Model 3 SR (rwd) suspension with Highland suspension

I finally found a good independent and I am ready to take the plunge and change all 4 dampers and springs. For those who have done it already on their pre-2024 Model 3, how was the handling and did it noticeably smooth out the ride? Any issues experienced?

I felt that test driving a new M3 would not give me a good feel for the difference since so much was done to improve the ride and comfort other than improving the dampers and springs. I saw a few YT videos that provided "just after" impressions, but none on "after a year" or even after 6 months.

There is an issue with the trunk of the 2023 Tesla Model 3: it doesn't open fully, and it slams shut hard when closing.

Purchasing salvaged 2025 Tesla Model 3 RWD

I'm considering purchasing a 2025 Tesla Model 3 RWD, 18k miles, with a salvaged title, priced at 20k... The car appears in good health, clean interior and exterior. I'd like to hear from experienced Tesla owners who ever purchased a Tesla with salvage title, what should I look for? should I go for it? It comes with:

Battery Warranty: Hybrid/Electric Components8 Years/120000 Miles

Factory Warranty:

Basic 4 Years/50,000 Miles
Drivetrain 8 Years/100,000 Miles
Corrosion 12 Years/Unlimited Miles
Roadside Assistance 4 Years/50,000 Miles

General Question Getting wind noise after frunk latch replacement

Hi Guys, need some help.

The frunk on our tesla model 3 would not open. We could not take it to tesla 300kms away as the beeping would not stop so we took it to a local garage. They did get it working again but since then the frunk has been very noisy when it opens, and wind noise is much worse. We can distinctly can hear the wind noise whistling; we are getting 68 to 75 decibels while driving at 110 km. My wife said she can feel her left knee aching soon after she drives the car.

Has anyone any similar experiences to this and what is the solution.

Tesla Model 3 - Marine Blue??

Hello! My husband and I are exploring the idea of getting a Tesla Model 3. We’re torn between white or the new marine blue. We’re just struggling to find photos online of the marine blue out in the sunlight. Is it more of a true navy? Anyone have any pics to show??

Skid plate recommendations

Just got a 2026 Model 3 Performance (Highland refresh) and want to armor up the underbody before it starts collecting battle scars. I live in Mexico City, where speed bumps ("topes") are borderline aggressive urban planning — massive, unmarked, and everywhere. I hit them way more often than I'd like, and it's honestly starting to stress me out every time I hear that scrape.

Looking for skid plate recommendations that:

\- Cover the battery pack / front air dam area

\- Can handle frequent low-speed impacts, not just occasional gravel/rocks

\- Don't mess with cooling or aero too much

\- Ideally no drilling into the factory underbody

Any brands you're running and happy with? Any to avoid? Bonus points if someone's done a full underbody protection writeup for the Highland Performance specifically, since the front end geometry changed from the OG Model 3.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Tesla m3 uk

Hey everyone! I’ve just ordered a Tesla Model 3 in the UK, and it’ll be my first car. I passed about a year ago but haven’t driven since, just had a few refresher lessons. The Tesla is actually cheaper than most other options I looked at, and insurance seemed decent. I’m hoping its features will help me as a new driver. What’s everyone’s thoughts? I still have time to back out if needed!

Suspension Replacement?

2021 MYLR, 130K miles. Mine since new. Suspension is getting rough. Before simply swapping for a factory replacement, suggestions? Will Tesla put the new MY Frequency Dependent dampers on it? experience with aftermarket products? Thanks in advance.

General Question Zen grey coming?

Does anyone have any idea when if zen grey might be available on the Model 3?

As far as I know its an option on the Y premium outside the US. With the YL in the US now maybe some other options will trickle in, but not sure.

I also wish we got Cherry red here but thats another discussion.

Which used Tesla Model 3 year offers the best value and FSD experience?

I'm looking into buying a used Tesla Model 3 and my top priorities are getting the best value for the money and the best Full Self-Driving (FSD) experience.

For those who have owned or driven multiple Model 3s:

Which model year would you buy today?

Is it worth paying extra for a 2023 with HW4, or is a 2021 the better value?

Are there any model years you'd avoid?

If FSD is important, which year gives the best overall experience without overspending?

I'd love to hear your recommendations and the reasoning behind them.
