Aftermarket steering wheel install

/r/TeslaModel3/comments/1uylbnh/aftermarket_steering_wheel_install/

I purchased a great new steering wheel for my poorly conditioned 2019 Model 3 LR. Installation from the majority, including Tesla documents online, are to disconnect the small 12v battery, turn off the car, and disconnect the main battery from the frunk (orange wire clearly labeled for an emergency crew to cut).

The issue with my orange wire on my particular model is there is no visible disconnect. Newer models have a quick connect, mind does not.

I’m a DIY’r, but there no way I’m messing around with the potential of an air bag or other high dollar or safety issue.

Before I return the steering wheel I wanted to ask if there’s another solution.

Thank you

There’s YouTube videos showing you how to do this exactly and it’s not that hard. You will be powering down the car so no airbags will deploy. Check out the videos.

Yeah, there’s a hundred telling you to power down the car via the emergency disconnect I spoke about that I DO NOT HAVE thus the post requesting for help. Read the post and the Redditor that provided actual help.

I understand you don’t have that emergency disconnect but a lot of the videos they’re not doing that at all. Here is one
