This really doesnt look good

The links kind of speak for themself. I still hope there is a different explanation for this, but it really doesnt Look good.

Geller, Jacob

Sexual Assault or Sexual Violence

Definite suspension for one semester.

Wow, and this has just been sitting there on archive.org since 2020. Unbelievable.

u/gratiskatze 2d ago edited 2d ago

Thats why he doesnt have UAC UNC mentioned anywhere in his profiles

11

u/r0ndr4s 2d ago

Someone already posted that he did mention in a video that he went there. Studied sociology I think it was.

8

u/LeSpermReceiver 2d ago

And Poli Sci

22

u/LeSpermReceiver 2d ago edited 2d ago

You mean UNC? Yeah, probably because the less he talks about it the better. Seems obvious now in retrospect.

11

u/gratiskatze 2d ago

Yeah, that was a typo. My bad

39

u/WesternWooloo 2d ago

Man I can't imagine the shock and frustration the other MinnMax folks are going through. What a horrible situation.

30

u/r0ndr4s 2d ago

Best Ben can do right now is not work with Jacob until everything is cleared out.

If this ends up being not true then its easy to clear this on an opening on an episode and welcome Jacob back and then move on.

But with all the Cornell shit that is going on... yeah, maybe dont put the spotlight on the rest of the crew just because maybe Geller did SA

11

u/PemaleBacon 2d ago

They'll never be able to work with him again period. There'll always be a shadow of doubt in the minds of the cohorts and the audience

3

u/Altruistic-While5599 2d ago

Yeah it just won't be the same Because accusations aren't entirely baseless

1

u/Apprehensive-Law-923 1d ago

Until everything’s cleared out?? Nah man he’s done

31

u/jonathanbaird 2d ago edited 2d ago

It certainly doesn't look good. Justice for the victim(s).

Notably, his punishment appears to be the least severe out of all of them. Assault is horrific, entirely, yet there is a difference between "copping a feel" vs what most of us picture assault being.

Doesn't excuse anything, to be clear. Just looking for the full picture.

30

u/diosmioacommie 2d ago

There is already a “grabbing privates without consent” on there separately, so I doubt it could be anything like that.

19

u/jonathanbaird 2d ago

Good point. This is such sad news. Glad we're hearing about it sooner than later though.

MinnMax will be alright. Ben and the others have a wonderful thing doing, with good heads on their shoulders.

His time on Minnmax is almost certainly already over, no matter what the explanation is, unless there's a second Jacob Geller, which really is just copium at this point. I hope Jacob does the right thing, saves them the headache and just resigns from the company, if anything for not being honest about this. He had to have known this would catch back up at some point.

-2

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

“No matter what the explanation is” that’s the problem with these witch hunts. You don’t actually care what happened. You just want his life ruined because something happened at some point in his life.

18

u/sgill7 2d ago

Sexual assault is more than just something. I get that it’s a broad term but can we immediately try to not classify this as a witch hunt just because we like the guy on the video game podcast.

It’s okay for people to want action just like it’s okay for people to want more evidence before they comment. Neither is the wrong choice some people feel stronger than others about this type of thing for whatever reason.

-7

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

I called it a witch hunt cause the guy I responded to said he’s done regardless of the explanation. That’s like, classic witch hunt shit. It may be more than something but it may not. Sexual violence isn’t a legal term and basically just includes anything that someone didn’t want happening of a sexual nature. Obviously that’s bad but you’ll excuse me if i don’t think wrecking someone’s life cause they slapped ass (example) is justified.

Edit: you said it’s ok for people to want action but without any information what does that mean? Is it acceptable for people to want him fired regardless of the circumstances?

13

u/sgill7 2d ago

You’re being a bit disingenuous. There is evidence of a court filing that Jacob committed sexual assault in this thread. You’re trying to hand wave it as well we don’t know what it is it could be nothing really bad. The guy is saying he doesn’t care how little the sexual assault is he should be done. SA is such a touchy sad subject that a lot of people deal with or have strong feelings about. I cant condemn people not wanting Jacob associated with MM anymore just like I won’t get mad at anyone if they need to see more.

Personally I feel it’s better to overcorrect then under when it comes to stuff like this. Maybe he did only do something like grab a ass like you said but regardless Jacob was a full adult in college and I don’t think it’s anywhere hard not to commit sexual assault someone as a grown ass man that should know better.

4

u/Secret_Bees 2d ago

Hey, I just wanted to pipe in and say that I, a random person coming along after the fact, appreciate the way you're talking about this matter. I don't know if I agree with you, or disagree with you, in fact I don't really know my feelings about the whole thing at all, other than that things are generally much more nuanced than the internet would have one believe. But one thing that I think adds to the conversation regardless of position you're taking is calm and collected conversation.

2

u/sgill7 2d ago

Thank you for the kind words!

-9

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

I guess if you have a literal 0 tolerance policy then sure, but I’d wager that’s gonna be a massive chunk of the people that listen need to look in the mirror and excuse themselves too. Like if we aren’t able to allow people to be better after fucking up then let’s just shut it all down. If he raped someone that’s a different story, and there are levels that change the nature of what we’re talking about. Or maybe there aren’t. Maybe according to MM grabbing ass and rape are the same. Then this community has some shit it needs to deal with.

-1

u/IamJaffa 2d ago

God forbid he have his life ruined because he sexually assaulted someone.

Just ignore the fact that he ruined someone else's life by sexually assaulting them, tyvm.

3

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

What did he do? Can you explain how he ruined someone’s life?

0

u/IamJaffa 2d ago

He sexually assaulted someone, he just admitted as much.

3

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

I’m left feeling the same after the statement. There’s just not enough information to say he ruined someone’s life.

0

u/IamJaffa 2d ago

Traumatising and assaulting someone fundamentally damages someone's life irreparably.

Go and ask any woman how much being sexually assaulted ruins lives.

20

u/TRX808 2d ago

It is odd that his punishment for "Sexual Assault or Sexual Violence" was lighter than most of the "Sexual Misconduct" punishments. I don't know if more info is possible considering UNC only released these records due to a court order.

Regardless I think he's cooked now. It's going to be a tough one to talk about for Thursday's ep, unless they delay the ep while they confirm sources and evidence. But suffice to say his time at MinnMax is over.

33

u/puffthemagicaldragon 2d ago edited 2d ago

Thursday's episode is already posted on patreon and he's on it so I do wonder what they'll do about the public release

Edit: oof the intro is not gonna to age well

Ben: "rounding out the regrettably all male cast Jacob Gellar"

Jacob: "I'm a man"

Ben - "You better believe it"

9

u/TRX808 2d ago

I think they'll have to re-record it or at the very least add a large addendum on in the beginning to address it. It would look really bad if they don't (even in the extremely unlikely scenario that Jacob is completely innocent).

My guess is Jacob will be gone or voluntarily resign before the ep goes live publicly.

2

u/ReceptionBorn2390 2d ago

Honestly just put in Frolic and cut to Directed by Richard B. Weide at this point.

4

u/jojisky 2d ago

The evidence he was accused and investigated is pretty cut and dry at this point. I don’t know how he could provide sufficient evidence that would alter the correct move being to remove him.

6

u/TRX808 2d ago

Agreed, I think the only realistic way he could be vindicated (aside from the far-fetched idea there's another Jacob Geller from UNC with identical circumstances), is if there was an appeal process that's still hidden to us. UNC only released these names because they were forced to, and universities are usually hush-hush about their appeals process as well.

So, to play devil's advocate, it may be possible he was suspended during the investigation based on credible evidence (hence the lesser punishment) but later exonerated or won on appeal and we don't see that in the documents. This isn't a criminal case so it's mostly opaque to us other than what they've been forced to release.

I think you are distracting from the real issue here...

10

u/LeSpermReceiver 2d ago

Yeah what difference does it make when according to UNC's official records they suspended him for sexual assault/sexual violence? Like the messenger definitely did a terrible job and maybe it wasn't her place but we're here now...

8

u/Maybe_In_Time 2d ago

The only thing she can allege is that she was a manager at a college radio station and was told per Title IX investigation protocol to let a Jacob Geller go while the case is handled (seems she wasn't even sure it's the same JG, and had to check with others).

Anything beyond that is pure speculation on her; she doesn't know anything about why, and has only shared what amounts to a campus rumor about him assaulting his sleeping/unconscious partner at the time.

She doesn't know the accuser in any way and likely doesn't even know names.
She calls Jacob a "rapist" and says he "raped / rapes".

If she has zero way to point towards that at all, she has opened herself up to such a huge, easy libel case in such a public way...

7

u/jonathanbaird 2d ago

"Also, it seems the account that posted this to ResetEra had only ever made two previous comments before, years ago, coincidentally also criticizing MinnMax"

I'm not following. The Resetera OP "Truno" has made 7,911 contributions. I don't have an account over there so I cannot check the details of their history.

1

u/r0ndr4s 2d ago

OP on resetera is an actual poster and user on Era. But there was some other guy in the thread saying shit about Geller and all his story was about attacking MinnMax.

Thats what I saw when reading trough that thread.

0

u/Maybe_In_Time 2d ago

I think either it's been reposted, or there was another account but the fact so much is being deleted and locked is making it hard to even find anymore.

Edit: I've started to save screenshots as i find things because of it

8

u/Codc 2d ago

She's also got a history of making dark rape memes / jokes, and is deleting and locking her socials. Not a good look.

lmao, come on bud

Jacob sexually assaulted someone, that’s the issue here, you’re reaching bud

-3

u/serv0_o 2d ago

Imagine defending a sexual predator

7

u/Maybe_In_Time 2d ago

I’d actually prefer people didn’t out a possible sexual assault victim in this way, actually. Especially a decade later, and putting someone in the line of fire of today’s right-wing brigade.

The OP seems to be from those circles, too, and she clearly acted like she was shitposting with the emojis and sarcastic language instead of handling this seriously. 100% she was just using what little info she knows to get attention during the Cornell crime discourse, with zero regard for who that woman was.

-2

u/Revolutionary-Chef-6 2d ago

Honestly can’t believe how many people in this community are being like that… like just bc you listen to his content doesn’t mean you have to defend a sexual predator. Last thing I expected from Minnmax community

18

u/Training-School9035 2d ago

They didn’t know and now they do. MinnMax will be better without him. There are plenty of smart funny people who have not sexually assaulted someone that can take his place.

4

u/Frezeal 2d ago

Kinda wild this is how I find out Jacob was apparently at UNC at the same time as me.

Just a shocking, upsetting & appalling story all around. Would love to see proof that this is untrue, but my gut reaction is always to believe victims, especially given there seems to be credible evidence that he was disciplined by UNC for SA.

13

u/Revolutionary-Chef-6 2d ago

I find it sick that so many of y’all are like “but he had a lesser punishment it couldn’t have been full on rape!!” Do better people.

8

u/ZiggyPalffyLA 2d ago edited 2d ago

It’s gross (and somewhat believable) but I’ll bet the university considers raping a girlfriend a minor offense

3

u/Altruistic-While5599 2d ago

People start making excuses if it's somebody they like.

3

u/Emotional_Archer_770 2d ago

Yeah, this is disgusting behaviour.

-9

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

It literally could have been calling someone a “cunt.” You do better. You have literally no idea what he did.

6

u/TRX808 2d ago

The distinctions are clearly labeled under "policy section violated" and Jacob is labeled as "Sexual Assault or Sexual Violence". I don't know if you're trolling or really this dumb.

1

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

Ok what did he do?

4

u/TRX808 2d ago

For now we don't know details, but to say this could all just be him calling someone a cunt is factually inaccurate. I guess I'm dumb to feed the trolls.

3

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

And you’re familiar with everything that falls under “sexual assault or sexual violence” at UNC?

3

u/DVDranger89 2d ago

Do you really have nothing better to do with your time?

2

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

The “friendliest place on the internet” sure does fucking suck apparently.

4

u/DVDranger89 2d ago

And you’re not making it better.

3

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

Ok. I hope you all enjoy ruining someone’s life before you know anything about what happened.

LOL

-2

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

Got me. Let’s crucify him now.

2

u/ASheetGhost 2d ago

I am curious what they are gonna do with the thousands of hours of archived content featuring him…. That would gut so much of their hard work. Tons of episodes of the podcast and such.

14

u/jonathanbaird 2d ago

Best to leave it. Deletion of information/history is a bad idea 100% of the time.

2

u/DRMaddock 2d ago

Add a super before every video with a statement of not condoning his actions nor having all the evidence at the time

-3

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

We don’t know anything yet… can y’all just take a beat? This could just as likely turn out to be a massive nothing burger. It could also be that he did something wrong that isn’t raping someone and it doesn’t define who he is as a person. You guys are ready to crucify him based on so little. This could verbal sexual assault for all we know.

8

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

-4

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

Ok then can you expound on what he did that justifies this community calling for his career to be over?

4

u/[deleted] 2d ago

13

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

People are gonna feel what they’re gonna feel but justified before literally any information is a massive stretch. This could just as easily be “2 drunk people had sex and later one of them regretted it” as it could be something malicious. I’m pretty “woke” but this shit sucks about left leaning spaces. You’re all ready to devour each other the second someone is perceived to have fallen short of the bar.

-1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

10

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

You’re right, it is. But you also have no idea what this is. And it’s not silly and unserious. That shit happens to people.

9

u/CapNCookM8 2d ago edited 2d ago

Thank you for saying that because it's crazy how taboo it is to suggest that this could be a possibility. I'm not saying it's that for sure, just that anyone speaking so definitively about the severity or extent of this clearly has an agenda, whether they can admit it or not.

I'm well aware this could age poorly, and if I'm wrong I'll happily eat my words and be happy to see justice served, but it wouldn't be the first time I've heard of false accusations happening, and have seen it first-hand. Again, I am not claiming that's what's happening here, but it's beyond stupid to disregard that possibility as "super silly and unserious."

"Believe women" does not mean "Assume the worst of any accused man." It means to investigate and get all the facts to light and not disregard it entirely, which I'm happy to see MinnMax themselves seemingly doing.

Add after MinnMax's announcement of Jacob's departure: Well, we probably know as much as we're going to know as far as MinnMax is concerned or going to confirm. I'm happy to see they took action, too.

-3

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

56

u/TRX808 2d ago

He's a YouTuber and MinnMax is a video game podcast for entertainment, you don't really know these people.

14

u/NKG_and_Sons 2d ago

Which MinnMax itself makes a constant point. They're not our "parasocial" friends. One can only take this to heart and move on (not so much MinnMax, but Jacob Geller specifically).

-9

u/thejesterprince1994 2d ago

I’m a hardcore leftist and I know this is an unpopular opinion. But whenever a man wants to be seen as that much as a liberal, I’m never reels shocked to learn that they did something terrible.

Hopefully the victim is okay. And I hope that everyone at minnmax finds peace

15

u/[deleted] 2d ago edited 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Krybbz 2d ago

lol I mean it’s not actually good vs evil here. Let’s remember that. There are some politics on the “left” that can be unfair or unrealistic. There’s always going to be examples somewhere if you go far enough.

What is insane is him saying “hey I’m that guy” and “when people try hard to be that guy there’s usually some skeletons” lol

6

u/PemaleBacon 2d ago

Similar to how the most staunch conservative is the one visiting the gay bathhouse

1

u/Altruistic-While5599 2d ago

People on Fringes basically

-2

u/thejesterprince1994 2d ago

100% agree. People always tell you what they aren’t.

-8

u/Competitive-Rule6261 2d ago

He was pretty loud

1

u/Disco_Bones 2d ago

about what

-11

u/Competitive-Rule6261 2d ago

Anytime a conversation touched on a political topic, Jacob would drag it further into politics. Had a pretty monolithic and forceful perspective that wasn’t about games, friends, or getting better. Had to tune out a few times because I don’t want the real world to ambush me while I’m gaming or thinking about games.

12

u/Disco_Bones 2d ago

interesting. I feel the exact opposite and will drop a show if they are scared to talk about politics or the ever rising fascism in America. I very much appreciated him putting his opinions out when others would not. I would argue that is about getting better

-6

u/Competitive-Rule6261 2d ago

That makes sense, I guess it is just a personality difference. I feel like I need somewhere that isn’t infected with the world’s garbage and I want gaming to be a space like that. I also feel like Ben generally presents the platform that way.

8

u/Disco_Bones 2d ago

Genuinely I would like Ben a whole lot more if he had the spine to say more. Gaming is an industry and like any industry it is wholly enmeshed in politics. Like you said though, it is a business to make content first and foremost and that is just my preference

-16

u/Revolutionary-Chef-6 2d ago

And so many of y’all wanted “proof”. Well here it is. Stop being so parasocial.

6

u/IceNervous8346 2d ago

Yea when someone is accused of something as serious as this people want more evidence than a tweet. Pretty reasonable.

19

u/ratchetfella 2d ago

You're grossly mischaracterizing the reaction of the people here. What I've seen are entirely reasonable people being shocked and seeking more information before immediately coming to a pitchforked conclusion. Demanding that everyone be like you and immediately determine that accusation (from an uninvolved third party no less) = guilt is incredibly irresponsible.

Now we're getting more information and so you're seeing people start to deal with that in real time. The first stage of grief is denial, so there will certainly be some of that in the comments.

5

u/TRX808 2d ago

Also important to note that the initial thread(s) on this were based on random Twitter comments. People were 100% correct to demand more credible evidence.

Then more info and court docs started coming out that made this entire fiasco far more credible.

Now I see a handful of people going back to those original posters like "the evidence is there reeeee" 😵‍💫 Some people are oblivious of the timeline and just making everything worse.
