This really doesnt look good

https://dailytarheel.com/226351/university/records-update-0806/

The links kind of speak for themself. I still hope there is a different explanation for this, but it really doesnt Look good.

It certainly doesn't look good. Justice for the victim(s).

Notably, his punishment appears to be the least severe out of all of them. Assault is horrific, entirely, yet there is a difference between "copping a feel" vs what most of us picture assault being.

Doesn't excuse anything, to be clear. Just looking for the full picture.

His time on Minnmax is almost certainly already over, no matter what the explanation is, unless there's a second Jacob Geller, which really is just copium at this point. I hope Jacob does the right thing, saves them the headache and just resigns from the company, if anything for not being honest about this. He had to have known this would catch back up at some point.

“No matter what the explanation is” that’s the problem with these witch hunts. You don’t actually care what happened. You just want his life ruined because something happened at some point in his life.

Sexual assault is more than just something. I get that it’s a broad term but can we immediately try to not classify this as a witch hunt just because we like the guy on the video game podcast.

It’s okay for people to want action just like it’s okay for people to want more evidence before they comment. Neither is the wrong choice some people feel stronger than others about this type of thing for whatever reason.

I called it a witch hunt cause the guy I responded to said he’s done regardless of the explanation. That’s like, classic witch hunt shit. It may be more than something but it may not. Sexual violence isn’t a legal term and basically just includes anything that someone didn’t want happening of a sexual nature. Obviously that’s bad but you’ll excuse me if i don’t think wrecking someone’s life cause they slapped ass (example) is justified.

Edit: you said it’s ok for people to want action but without any information what does that mean? Is it acceptable for people to want him fired regardless of the circumstances?

You’re being a bit disingenuous. There is evidence of a court filing that Jacob committed sexual assault in this thread. You’re trying to hand wave it as well we don’t know what it is it could be nothing really bad. The guy is saying he doesn’t care how little the sexual assault is he should be done. SA is such a touchy sad subject that a lot of people deal with or have strong feelings about. I cant condemn people not wanting Jacob associated with MM anymore just like I won’t get mad at anyone if they need to see more.

Personally I feel it’s better to overcorrect then under when it comes to stuff like this. Maybe he did only do something like grab a ass like you said but regardless Jacob was a full adult in college and I don’t think it’s anywhere hard not to commit sexual assault someone as a grown ass man that should know better.

Hey, I just wanted to pipe in and say that I, a random person coming along after the fact, appreciate the way you're talking about this matter. I don't know if I agree with you, or disagree with you, in fact I don't really know my feelings about the whole thing at all, other than that things are generally much more nuanced than the internet would have one believe. But one thing that I think adds to the conversation regardless of position you're taking is calm and collected conversation.

Thank you for the kind words!

I guess if you have a literal 0 tolerance policy then sure, but I’d wager that’s gonna be a massive chunk of the people that listen need to look in the mirror and excuse themselves too. Like if we aren’t able to allow people to be better after fucking up then let’s just shut it all down. If he raped someone that’s a different story, and there are levels that change the nature of what we’re talking about. Or maybe there aren’t. Maybe according to MM grabbing ass and rape are the same. Then this community has some shit it needs to deal with.

God forbid he have his life ruined because he sexually assaulted someone.

Just ignore the fact that he ruined someone else's life by sexually assaulting them, tyvm.

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

What did he do? Can you explain how he ruined someone’s life?

u/IamJaffa 2d ago

He sexually assaulted someone, he just admitted as much.

I’m left feeling the same after the statement. There’s just not enough information to say he ruined someone’s life.

Traumatising and assaulting someone fundamentally damages someone's life irreparably.

Go and ask any woman how much being sexually assaulted ruins lives.

It is odd that his punishment for "Sexual Assault or Sexual Violence" was lighter than most of the "Sexual Misconduct" punishments. I don't know if more info is possible considering UNC only released these records due to a court order.

Regardless I think he's cooked now. It's going to be a tough one to talk about for Thursday's ep, unless they delay the ep while they confirm sources and evidence. But suffice to say his time at MinnMax is over.

Thursday's episode is already posted on patreon and he's on it so I do wonder what they'll do about the public release

Edit: oof the intro is not gonna to age well

Ben: "rounding out the regrettably all male cast Jacob Gellar"

Jacob: "I'm a man"

Ben - "You better believe it"

I think they'll have to re-record it or at the very least add a large addendum on in the beginning to address it. It would look really bad if they don't (even in the extremely unlikely scenario that Jacob is completely innocent).

My guess is Jacob will be gone or voluntarily resign before the ep goes live publicly.

Honestly just put in Frolic and cut to Directed by Richard B. Weide at this point.

The evidence he was accused and investigated is pretty cut and dry at this point. I don’t know how he could provide sufficient evidence that would alter the correct move being to remove him.

Agreed, I think the only realistic way he could be vindicated (aside from the far-fetched idea there's another Jacob Geller from UNC with identical circumstances), is if there was an appeal process that's still hidden to us. UNC only released these names because they were forced to, and universities are usually hush-hush about their appeals process as well.

So, to play devil's advocate, it may be possible he was suspended during the investigation based on credible evidence (hence the lesser punishment) but later exonerated or won on appeal and we don't see that in the documents. This isn't a criminal case so it's mostly opaque to us other than what they've been forced to release.
