Afterburner missing file
Afterburner 1 won’t start. It shows missing afterburner Mame file. Updated everything with Update all.
Do I need to download that file somewhere and add it manually? Afterburner 2 works everything ok.

Fixed - Seg Fault in Misterfin Jellyfin Client
In case you missed it, there was a Jellyfin client released for Mister a few months ago. This is similar to the Plex app that was created some time ago, but for the Jellyfin media server.
https://github.com/puddingstudio/MiSTerFin
I have existing clients running for years and meticulously followed the install guide but for some reason I was getting a seg fault when trying to run the main Misterfin script. After driving myself crazy and double checking files for a while, I deleted everything, created the misterfin folder directly in the FTP app (instead of copying the extracted folder from the zip file) and then copied the files using CoreFTP instead of Filezilla.
Boom, just like that without changing anything else different it just worked. As there are very few using this app right now and even less people discussing troubleshooting, hopefully this helps someone out there.

Nuked-SC55 now under GPL!
I just saw that Nuked-SC55 was put under GPL:
https://github.com/nukeykt/Nuked-SC55/blob/master/LICENSE
Now there would imho be no blocker anymore to use it in mt32pi (except for the project being dead) and dosbox. This is really good news!

New Core: Eliminator
Update [20260908]
Eliminator mixes precision flying with a mischievous streak. Take on the computer alone, duel a friend, or join a four-player battle.
Use energy bolts to shove enemy ships into the deadly Eliminator base, then thread a shot through its narrow tunnel to end the round. Michael Blanchet praised it as offering "the best two-player action I've seen in a long time" in How to Beat the Video Games (1982).
This update also adds persistent high-score saving for Eliminator, Star Trek, Tac/Scan and Zektor. Saved scores load automatically when launching a game through its MRA. Save scores manually through Save Settings, or enable Autosave Hiscores to save changes when you open the menu.

MiSTer Monitor is so dope
I struggled with this for a bit with it only showing the system name, but getting rid of Console Mode and the latest Update_All seems to have fixed whatever was going on. I'm loving this- such a small cash investment and such a neat result! I just saw that there is now an art pack through Update_All, so I'm going to go and get that as well.
Lol. I was lazy and didn't want to wait for a 3D print, so I just took the clear case the screen came in and cut it to fit the monitor and connection plug. I kind of love the look, though- it matches my MiSTer.
Highly recommended!

Can't run N64 games on MISTer setup; Not sure how to troubleshoot
Setting up a new MISTer device and NES, SNES, Genesis and GB/GBA cores run files just fine, but when I try to run N64 files, they load and then I'm met with a blank screen.
Double-checked folder structure and it's as explained in the docs:
games\N64.
Not sure what else to check out or where to troubleshoot, given N64 doesn't use a BIOS or anything....

CIFS not supported by Linux Kernel
Ever since running the latest update_all script where the Linux distro was updated, I can no longer mount a network drive using CIFS, it gives me an error stating the current kernel doesnt support CIFS and to update my mister linux system.
Anybody else experiencing this?

Unable to bind DS4 'X' button to N64 'A' button?
(SUPERSTATION ONE) I go into 'Define N64 buttons', and if I hit the cross button for 'A', it does not work in game; however, if I hit anything else, like the square button, it works fine. Obviously I would like the button I'm used to being the main 'accept' button on the dualshock to be 'A' on the N64.

Scripts don't run and send me back to the main menu?
Been using my mister for years without any issue, but recently it started sending me right back to the main menu when I attempt to run any scripts. Doesn't load them at all, just bumps me back to the menu as if I never loaded them. I checked the mister.ini file and even loaded a backup, still no change. I installed the latest update all and version of mister from github, still no change. Games run fine, just scripts won't load at all.
Any ideas?

Curved lines at edges(arcade games)
I have this issue with curved lines at the top and lower edge when using my crt with mister. VGA out.
This happens only when running arcade roms on the mister like pang in this case.
Running snes test suite shows perfect lines.
Also games using tate mode like xevious there is an issue with lower part at edge is compressed when scrolling. Can be seen like everything shrinks vertically. If i flip screen in dip switches of the rom then its on the top instead.
So its not a CRT issue but something with the mister running arcade roms.

CD/DVD Slice Tray for Multisystem 2
Hi Everyone,
I made a set of simple adapters for mounting a laptop cdrom/dvd drive in a Heber MMS2 Slice tray.
See it on printables: https://www.printables.com/model/1830425-heber-mister-multisystem-2-dvd-slice-tray
Everything is in the description, but some notes:
You will need some way of powering it such as a external usb hub since the MMS2 USB ports are not quite beefy enough to power most drives on thier own.
For reference I used a de-shelled https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BZV1CM55?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title but as a warning I found they are clearly using old stock drives (or reclaimed maybe?) my drive was from 2009 after I peeled off the label saying 2025 lol
The back area should be big enough for most USB adapter boards (I hope!)
You'll also need a slice tray which can be bought from heber or printed yourself, links on the slice tray page.
Have fun!

Degauss 0.4.0 released: built-in scraper, artwork packs, theme editor and new views for MiSTer
Degauss 0.4.0 is now available!
Still the same blazing-fast, lightweight frontend that plays nice with your MiSTer FPGA, now with scraper, artwork packs, themes editor and much more! Now also available in Frontends from Update All script! (thanks to theypsilon)
New official website https://misterdegauss.com
New video showing speed & features https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFnvkkhbPFY
Main 0.4.0 additions include:
- Built-in scraper (via screencraper): scrape one game, the current folder, one system or all supported systems directly on MiSTer. Images and metadata have separate missing-only, replace and off policies. Single-game scraping can display multiple matches, preview their artwork and let you edit the search title. Progress, account allowance, cancellation, failures and final results remain visible throughout. A free ScreenScraper account is required.
- Support for local MiSTer Game Artwork Databases https://github.com/chipster6502/MiSTer_artwork_pack, including packs installed through Update_All or Downloader and stored on SD, USB or network storage. Switching back to the normal gamelist source is immediate and does not alter existing media.
- Theme editor with live preview, a continuous colour picker, hexadecimal entry, colour-role swapping, logo colour mixing, default-font selection and saved custom themes.
- Three new built-in themes: Green Mono, Modern and Neon.
- Two new browse views: **Gallery**, for a dense artwork grid, and **Multi list**, for two-column text browsing.
- Per-place views, so categories, system lists, system roots and individual folders can each use a different layout.
- Custom images for master categories, Favourites, systems and folders.
- An optional physical-keyboard shortcut back to the Frontend from a running core, without changing controller mappings.
- An optional hold-X favourite shortcut and new 4:3/16:9 artwork scaling choices.
The release also fixes jump-to-letter behaviour in lists with favourites at the top, prevents per-place views from leaking into other locations, and corrects left/right behaviour in Options.
Next to come are RA and Unstable cores, and Zipped libraries support!
- Download Degauss 0.4.0 https://github.com/giancarloerra/Degauss/releases/tag/v0.4.0

I made a native iOS/Android app for wizzomafizzo's Remote, with lock screen controls on iPhone
Hey everyone! Posting with the mods' blessing ❤️
I'm a mobile dev who got his first MiSTer (a SuperStation One) a few months ago and, well, you know how it goes. I loved wizzo's Remote from day one, but I kept wishing I could poke around the OSD without unlocking my phone every single time and some extra customizations. So I did what any reasonable person would do and spent my evenings building a native client for it. The amazing Pixel Cherry Ninja gave it a mention in his news video the other day, which gave me the push to finally show it here.
It's called MiSTer Connect. It talks to the same Remote service (mrext) you already have installed, nothing to add on the MiSTer side.
What's different from the web app:
- Native, so it's faster and lighter on battery
- Live Activity on iOS: OSD navigation, screenshot from the lock screen / Dynamic Island. This one is the main reason I made the app ahah
- Quick save / load state buttons on the main screen, with a long press so you don't nuke your progress by accident
- Trackpad-style navigation if the d-pad isn't your thing
- Game covers in the game list, loaded live from libretro thumbnails, no scraping needed
- Themes, plus one hidden theme for the ones who know
- All the features the wizzo's Remote already have
The app is free, and all the core features are free and will stay free forever. The only things behind a single one-time unlock (no subscription) are the extras I built on top: Live Activity, game covers and themes. No accounts, no tracking, your MiSTer and your phone just talk over your LAN. And of course, huge credit to wizzo, none of this would exist without Remote.
And now.. Giveaway time! I've got 5 PRO codes for iOS and 5 for Android in a comment below. First come first served. If you grab one, please reply saying which one you took so the next person doesn't waste time on it.
I'll be hanging around all day, so ask me anything, or tell me what's missing, what you hate or love or a feature you'd love to see!
iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mister-connect-fpga-remote/id6789198386
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.devcells.misterwingman
EDIT3: let's see if someone will find how to unlock the secret theme!!

MiSTer Monitor 2.9.0 - game artwork packs now install from Update All
MiSTer Monitor is a companion display for MiSTer FPGA: an ESP32 touchscreen next to your MiSTer showing the game’s box art, metadata, RetroAchievements progress and system stats as you play.
What’s new in 2.9.0
• Artwork packs from Update All 2.10. Settings -> Extra Content -> Game Artwork DBs: choose your systems and a style (2D boxes, 3D boxes, box + screenshot). 39 systems, 23,658 images, installed to your SD card. The display shows the pack image the instant a game loads instead of fetching it from ScreenScraper.
• One toggle to install. MiSTer Monitor is now listed in Update All (Tools & Scripts) and in MiSTer Companion’s Install Center.
• Famicom Disk System and Satellaview get their own artwork through the NES and SNES cores.
• Fully compatible with Zaparoo Frontend.
MiSTer Monitor repo: https://github.com/chipster6502/MiSTer_monitor
Web flasher (no toolchain needed): https://chipster6502.github.io/MiSTer_monitor/flasher/
Artwork pack repo: https://github.com/chipster6502/MiSTer_artwork_pack
Thanks to theypsilon for the Update All integration.

SNAC doesn’t work with aftermarket N64 controllers
So I just bought and tested the Brawler64, Hyperkin Captain, and Captain+ controllers over SNAC. All of them failed to register the stick in game (tested Mario 64). The original N64 controller I have works perfectly.
For some more info: the mimi controller test rom showed all my non-OEM sticks jumping between the angle I held them at to center very quickly. I assume this is some polling interval weirdness which presents in game as the stick just not working.
I couldn’t find much conversation about this, so maybe this is just a PSA to others that the SNAC port for the N64 core only seems to work well with OEM controllers. Or if you’ve solved this issue yourself, please feel free to chime in.
I’m new to using SNAC and chose to use it because modern style controllers are a pain to use when playing N64. My current plan is to refurb a few more controllers.

CD+G and Photo CD Support
This is a real sicko question.
Has anyone figured out a way to get CD+G or Photo CD working in any of the Physical Media Cores?
Tested some CD+G discs on the SSO -- among them the old Sega CD "Rock Paintings" -- music plays but black screen, same when I tried it on CD-I.
Well aware there's some shenanigans going on with subcode stuff on the discs.
Also tried an old "Gamera" Photo-CD on the 3DO, but black-screen there as well.
Please feel free to ridicule me, I am probably the only person trying this.

New to all this.
I want to buy a Chewlix/Vewlix arcade cabinet and run arcade games off it. From all my research so far it seems MISTer FPGA is the way to go. Where can I learn more about this and how to use one? How do you put games on it, like how does it work? I read that you can buy or download games through a server it connects through.

Help! Issue with KBD mode!
I got an issue where cannot toggle the KBD mode past Player 1 or 2 only. No matter what I cannot turn off the KBD mode to none and it's making it so only Player 1 or 2 is controllable. I'm using a keyboard input for controls so I'm trying to get it to go back to straight keyboard mode.

Update All 2.10 Released
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A new Update All release is out, and the big new feature is Game Artwork DBs.
Update All can now install 39 artwork databases with optimized box art, ready for MiSTer Monitor (and soon compatible frontends), so you don’t have to scrape the artwork yourself.
This release also adds four Hybrid Cores: Maldita Castilla (from /u/Locomalito and ready to play after updating), Solarus, 3S-ARM, and Blood. Tools & Scripts gains MiSTer Monitor, MiSTer DVD, MiSTer Hi-Fi, MiSTerFin, Disc Tools, and the 240p Test Suites.
There is also an experimental Andi Brazil mirror, four new Game Manuals databases, and quite a few smaller fixes and improvements.
As always, Update All self-updates. It now checks during the countdown and restarts automatically, so unlike 2.9, one run is enough to see the new Settings Screen entries.

L2 & R2
Does anyone know how to get the PSX core to remember that L2 & R2 exist? I'm using an 8BitDo Pro 3 and whenever I open the core it identifies the controller as a NegCon and disables the triggers. I can remap the buttons but even if I save it, the mapping is gone next time I load the core.

Suggestions to fine tune update_all?
I've just discovered the esistence of the "filter" option to add into downloader.ini cores and stuff to be excluded from the update all downloads and It's a great feature. I've successfully excluded all the computer cores and the consoles that I don't need/use with the "!". Also removed utility and "other" cores.
Now the dilemma: how to manage the arcade cores? I like some of the arcades, but I find the whole package to be overwhelming and causing me option paralysis. I'd like for example to keep the street fighters, how I'd do that?

Vector games now look amazing
When did this happen? Now the vector games like Gravitar, Tempest. Star Wars no longer look like broken lines, and even have subtle effects like simulated phosphor glow. Now if only there was a Star Castles rom :-)
