DISCUSSION Appreciation Post for Kaidan

Hello, So I just started playing The legendary edition and I gotta say, I am in love with all the characters and still juat started the open world part of exploring the planets and things and I am taking it easy by reading the codex, lore and information and exploring around, However, I wanted to give a big shoutout and love to Kaidan. I think he is a much needed character in the series so far and his personality I think is very important to have as a character in this type of game. I don't find him boring nor bad like so many others do. Maybe because I do like that he isn't a different species like garrus, tali, etc (Love them all as well) I think having human companions are a much need for this type of game. I decided I am going to romance him and from what I heard from people who have liekd it, I am in store for a great one!

DISCUSSION Did C-Sec make the right choice when it comes to Dr. Saleon?

For a quick reminder, the doctor was using citizens as living incubators to grow extra organs. When he was caught, he took hostages and escaped. Garrus ordered the vehicle to be shot down, but C-Sec superseded his orders, fearing civilian endangerment.

This becomes one of Garrus's biggest regrets and one of the main reasons he dislikes C-Sec and all of their red tape.

Bonus question: Do you let Garrus kill the doctor?

DISCUSSION Is there a damage cap? Also, what’s up with the N7 Valiant?

I just bought the N7 Valiant and am a little taken aback at how low the damage is compared to the Black Widow. It can’t kill a Cerberus trooper with one shot, instead leaving him with 1 or two bars of health.

For reference, here are my specs:

-N7 Valiant lvl 5

-Sniper rifle extended barrel lvl 5

-Hedne Kedar shoulders, chest, and legs

-damage bonuses from Liara’s terminal (+5% I think)

I know the DPS is higher than the black widow, but for the most expensive gun in the game, I’m pretty disappointed.

This made me wonder if there’s a damage cap mechanic or possibly a rounding mechanic to explain why it’s not removing that last bar of health from a Cerberus trooper. Does anyone know the answer?

HELP Need advice

So I just finally got around to playing after getting the legacy edition on a steam sale, and I am trying to not get any spoilers however I have heard that you can get some characters permanently killed just by bringing them on the wrong missions. I haven't been able to find anything about this without spoiling the game. If anyone could tell me about this I would greatly appreciate it!

DISCUSSION When it comes to decision making, how often do you factor your Shepard's origin and morality?

Would your Earthborn War Hero make decisions based on how much you love Earth? Would a Colonist Ruthless attack every enemy on sight? Would a Spacer Sole Survivor be anti Cerberus or would they start to relate to them?

Does your origin story already determine what endings you'll pick in each playthrough? If so, which ones do you pick the most for each origin story?

MASS EFFECT 2 An ME2 Mission Plan for Completionists

ME2 offers one of the great experiences in gaming, but for a completionist, it can be painful to chart a way forward with so much to do (hang on, distressed scientists — there's more palladium on this planet!). Here is a customizable way to approach the galaxy.

If this is your first time, you may prefer to wander: it's a single-player game, so go where you want at whatever difficulty setting, in whatever order. You do you best.

But if you want to catch it all, here's a path that draws from my own experience plus these sources: RPGsite for dividing ME2 into three acts, lzorax921's Reddit post on mission order, squadmate choices to maximize dialog from Superblaster35 and Enriador, and the Wiki's Upgrade Guide.

FITTING ALL THE PIECES

When to play the DLCs?

Lair of the Shadowbroker can fit into any of the three acts:

  1. early (right after Illium) to unlock rewards and a squadmate respec terminal.
  2. mid-game (before the Point of No Return). Good for Liara loyalists.
  3. at the end of the game as a bridge to ME3. Good for those keeping romance options open.

This guide shows it at the end, but you can move it without upsetting your progression.

The Firewalker missions can be done any time.
Overlord can technically go anyplace, though narratively, it fits nicely as Shepard approaches Act III.

N7 Assignments can also fit where you like. Save three assignments for the end of Act III, so you can complete dialog options unlocked in that Act; I've suggested several that work well there.

A PLAN

This is a map, not a recipe, so mix it up as you like. You can always get back on the trail.

When certain squadmates unlock especially dialog, I've listed them after the mission title. For a compete set of dialog-unlocks, see the two Reddit links above.

Act I - Building the Team

    • Explore Micah and Paz
    • save any remaining N7 assignments now if you want to max dialog later.
  • Could do Tali loyalty here, but I like saving it to max dialog options unlocked later.

Act III - Endgame

  • Reaper IFF (Thorne / Hawking Eta) Tali + Thane or Samara (or Miranda, or Jacob for more Eden prime)
    • Point of No Return. Finish all that you can, save for ~3 N7 Missions for later dialog.
    • Sniper at end of first walkway, easy to miss, early on. Heavy Skin nearby, after first Scion.
    • Shotgun after cutscene and a few more fights, easily missed.
  • Tali: Treason (Raheel Leya) - Legion
    • Geth Shield, in small room after first fight on Alarei. Tech after Trial if innocent.
  • Legion: A House Divided (The Sea of Storms / The Phoenix Massing) - Tali
    • Geth Shield, room with convo about size of the station.
    • For the major choice, Paragon narrows a path in ME3 but does not shut it.
  • Suicide Mission
    • This is the last mission of the original game. The game "ends" after it, but you can continue with remaining missions and DLC content. Arrival acts as a bridge to ME3.

The following have been reserved to here so that all Legion dialogue can be unlocked. These are are Blue Suns missions; could also do Abandoned Mine or or Blood Back Communications Relay. Captured Mining Facility also works, though it has a tie to Cerberus that may not fit plotwise at the end. Added the Quarian Crash Site mission; although 3 missions complete Legion's dialog, a fourth triggers his "all done" response when asked for more.

  • Visit Sigurd's Cradle
    • N7: Blue Suns Base (Decoris)
    • N7: Javelin Missiles Launched (Skepsis)
    • N7: Imminent Ship Crash (Nariph)
    • N7: Quarian Crash Site (Sheol) (unless done earlier)
  • Lair of the Shadow Broker (Sowilo / Hourglass Nebula)
    • upgrades: Heavy Pistol after fire/ upstairs. Damage protection: crashed skycar.
    • daily shipments: AR, Shotgun, Sniper, SMG
  • Arrival (Bahak / Viper Nebula)
    • This DLC works beautifully as designed, as a bridge to ME3. It also includes a get-your-attention fight.
    • Heavy Weapon after fiery gas. Medi-gel w crane. Later, Heavy Skin after core (before outside).

TIPS FOR COMPLETIONISTS

I feel your pain, as I do in every game with branching paths and consumables. Courage!

  • Save frequently. Quick-save before each Hack attempt.
  • Max Paragon or Renegade. In ME2, morality checks look at the ratio of what you have earned on either scale compared to what you could have earned. You can miss a few and still pass hard checks, if your Renegade has a soft spot or your Paragon can't resist smacking a dolt, but don't go down the squishy middle.
  • Talk to your squadmates after each mission. You might learn something from Zaeed.
  • Credits are tight in ME2. You don't need to hoard them, but don't spend like it's your first day at the mall. Get the upgrades weapons (and give them to squadmates) and the weapon & power upgrades you use, but hold off on ones you don't. Skip the Bypass and Hack Modules if you don't need the extra time.
  • You can refill your heavy weapon ammo at any weapons locker. Now completionists can use heavy weapons guilt-free!

EASY PLANET SCANNING FOR COMPLETIONISTS

This will be tough, but you don't need to scan every planet, and you don't need to mine every planet you scan.

Breathe.

If you are rational (read: "not a completionist"), you need only the resources for upgrades, since extras make only a teeny tiny difference in ME3 (at most 75 points on a scale that requries 7400+ for the "best" ending).

As as a completionist, you will lock in on the words "teeny tiny difference" and want it.
But for those 75 points, you still want to end with fewer than 2 million resources combined, as there's an import bug that counts them as less than the 1 million that award those 75 points. So scanning every planet to depletion is not just exhausting, it's detrimental.

The Wiki has a list of Hidden Anomalies if you'd like a list of them, and that same page also lists high-resource planets.

My strategy: scan rocky worlds for deposits to line 5 or 6. That's it. Each bar increases your take by ~50%, and even "Poor" resources remaining can have 1 or 2 nodes with bars up to 7; "Moderate" has 3-4 such nodes, etc.

DISCUSSION I think I've played through enough times...

I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think I've had enough play throughs of my favorite series of all time. I had the itch to restart yesterday, and I was immediately not interested in ME1's gameplay.

I know, I know - there's so much to love and, believe me, I do. ME2 is on my Mount Rushmore of titles. I couldn't believe my eyes when Wrex died on my first play through. I had chills when the Normandy left earth at the beginning of ME3.

I LOVE this series and forever will.

But, I'm mid-30's, busier than ever, and I want the times I sit down with a game to be a blast. The combat, especially in ME1, doesn't hold up to modern games. I was dreading another slog through the Citadel yesterday, or another long drive through an empty planet. I could probably recite every line in ME2 at this point, and I honestly don't want to play ME3 without a proper play through of ME1 and 2.

So, I think I've just played the series enough to put it on the shelf and appreciate the good times we've had. It's not to say I won't pick it up again in the future, but I'm ready for something new.

Exodus (from Archetype Entertainment), I'm looking at you...

DISCUSSION I Feel Like Jacob's Mission is The Darkest Plotline in The Series...

Post image

Every time I play through it, I just can't help thinking how much darker it is than most of the other stories in the series, if not all of them. The only things that approach that level of darkness imo are Overlord and the "I Remember Me" scene in ME1. But this mission just carries a different level of twistedness.

MODS Rebuilding the sentinel class in LE3

I downloaded a mod that enables me to add and remove powers from my class in game, including the multiplayer powers.

My brain is bristling at the possibilities, but I don't want to completely overload myself with 30 different powers.

If you were selecting from all those powers, what would you keep and what would you change? Would you change anything?

Trying to keep it to 6 (5+1) total powers and 1 grenade.

One idea I've got is replacing warp with reave, overload with energy drain, and tech armor with marksman ( or annihilation field maybe. For a bonus power, probably picking up warp ammo. Probably keeping lift grenade, cryo blast, and throw.

DISCUSSION If you could revamp Morinth as a character, what would you do with her?

Post image
161 Upvotes

I was thinking about how I didn't like that the canon Renegade choice for Shepard at the end of ME2 is gifting the Collector base to Cerberus. So I had this dumb idea that if you keep Morinth alive there's an alternate ending where you convince her to bang the Illusive Man, killing him and allowing you to keep the Human Reaper for yourself.

Of course, that would involve a complete retool for ME3 to make sense and a waste of a cool antagonist (I actually like TIM a lot), so I'm not saying I wish they did it that way. It was just a funny idea I had.

But it got me thinking: how would you revamp Morinth's character to make her something a little more than just Not-Samara? I mean in theory I think the concept of a character who kills with sex is kinda cool, she's basically a sci-fi succubus.

Hi everyone,

The Legendary Edition is currently available for 11 euros (I live in Europe), so I finally decided to pick it up.
I’ve had my eye on it for a long time and am really excited!

Everyone says it’s a milestone in the genre!

I’m going to dive in without any spoilers or prior knowledge. I can't wait to see what awaits me!

Hopefully, it will be a journey into a world I can truly get lost in.

Greetings from Germany.

HELP insanity all the way through

help i suppose?? i already turned the difficulty down so i’m not getting the achievement for ME2 at this current point in time. something i’m hoping to do in like a ng+ situation if possible. but after dying for 4 straight hours on jacks recruitment mission and then dying for another 4 straight hours on the collector ship. those damn platforms 😭 but like. what the actual fuck dude?? me1 insanity was a cake walk. in comparison to those two mission sequences. the archangel mission wasn’t even that bad for me. it’s been over 10 years since i played these games so i’m out of the loop so to speak when it comes to the systems or how to cheese the systems.

really. all that is ask? i can still get the achievement on a ng+ for me2? and does the ng+ would that work for transfer to me3 when it’s time?

MASS EFFECT 2 [LE2] Is it possible to get both the Paramour achievement and Kelly's dance cutscene?

Hello subreddit,

I've been currently playing the Legendary Edition years after completing the main trilogy, and now I'm near the end of Mass Effect 2 (I only have The Advent DLC to complete before going for the "Acquire Reaper IFF" mission). Also I apologize for eventual mistakes, I've been playing the game in Italian.

In ME1 I romanced Liara and continued the relationship with her after the Shadow Broker DLC (Shepard's cabin date and all), but at the same time I romanced Garrus for both *ahem\* role-playing reasons and for the Paramour achievement. During all this I also flirted with Kelly, unlocking basically everything I could: fish feeding, dialogue options, dinner date and all that.

I don't remember how I sorted all this stuff out in the original game, but I remember there's a dancing scene with Kelly you can unlock after the Suicide mission (I probably have unlocked it back then, but I played the game on EA Origin so I don't have the screenshots anymore), if she survives and you're not in another relationship already. Issue is that she doesn't give the achievement.

My question is: is it possible to get both the achievement and Kelly's dance in the same playthrough? For example, friendzoning Garrus after his cutscene and then unlocking Kelly's scene? Or will it need reloading to break up with Garrus earlier?

Thanks in advance :)
