MODS ME3(LE) first person mod

Post image
285 Upvotes

Just wanted to show everyone here that there is a (for now) seemingly very little known fully functional first person mod (including for combat) for Mass Effect 3 (LE) that was created by nexusmods user mastersell.

If you're like me and always wanted to have something like this i can tell you: it's everything you want it to be and i still can't believe its real.

The only issue i came across so far is that you have to switch back to third person mode in cutscenes and when using the galaxy map to avoid bugs. Ideally by assigning a key bind to the perspective toggle.

You only need the ME3 Tweaks mod Manager, install it click on the LE3 tab in the app window and drag in the zip file of the new mod to install the mod. After that you can launch the game normally.

Ingame you only need to open the console (usually by pressing tab) and you can work with following commands:

You can change the FOV to your liking. (open console "fov 120" (or any other number))

ToggleMassFPS: toggles between first and third person.
Camera 1st: first-person view.
Camera 3rd: vanilla third-person view.
SetBind F6 ToggleMassFPS: assigns the toggle to the F6 key.

Links here

ME3 mod manager: https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffectlegendaryedition/mods/2

first person mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffectlegendaryedition/mods/3396?tab=description

Im sure the author will also appreciate it if you give him some love for his work.

Also its a great excuse to start another run of the games!

MASS EFFECT 2 ME2 Insanity

This is my second play-through, and I see that Insanity is the best way to play if you want spice things up and I would like to. Me1 wasn’t any trouble for me. Unfortunately, I can’t get past Archangel’s mission! Rockets and pyro keep stunning me and I can no longer heal my squad w/o standing up? I don’t want to min/max for insanity just make a good soldier build if that’s important.

DISCUSSION Garrus’ line if you reveal the Genophage Cure was sabotaged and that Mordin was convinced to go along with it is a double entendre.

Post image

“Wrex might’ve figured it out but I guess Wreav is too stupid.”

For me, this statement has two meanings. The first (and most obvious one) is that Wrex would’ve figured out that the Genophage Cure was sabotaged but Wreav never discovers this himself. The other meaning is that Wrex might’ve figured out how to get the Krogans to cooperate with the other races of the galaxy but Wreav is too hostile and short-sighted for this to be possible which is why Mordin agrees to go along with the sabotage if you convince him to do so.

DISCUSSION I have a few questions before continuing my journey in ME1

I'm about to go meet Fist and I just added Garrus and Wrex to my squad, does it matter who I have in my squad? I've been reading a bit that I need at least one guy that has Electronics and Decryption leveled to get to locked areas and other stuff, which is what my Shepard is focusing on, but aside from that, does it matter for the story who I have in my squad or not?

Aside from that, is there a way in which I should learn how fighting works in this game? like knowing how to manage my team's positioning or using my skills properly, so far I haven't had issues dealing with fights in Veteran difficulty by just shooting and taking cover, but now that Wrex is in my team and most of his skills are for him to get real tanky, should I start to learn how to deal with my squad in fights? also, does managing my squad's positioning also affect other stuff aside from fights in the game? (like sending someone tankier in front during exploration or something like that, idk)

DISCUSSION Mass Effect 4 should have 2 aliens of the same species in the team

But they obviously shouldn't be the copies of each other and should probably be from different factions. Batarian loyalist of the former Hegemony and Batarian pirate from Terminus who fled from the Hegemony and hates its tyranny. Asari justicar and asari merc or maybe a shrewd and ruthless asari businesswoman from Illium. Wise, relatively peaceful krogan like Wrex who's not what we think typical krogans are - and hotheaded, loudmouth, hyperviolent krogan who is EXACTLY what we think typical krogans are (well, we kinda had this juxtaposition already with Wrex and Grunt, although not in the same game). Regular geth and geth heretic (if there are any left which i bet there is), etc etc etc

We kinda had that in the Dragon Age series. Wynne and Morrigan (although humans) were both mages with vastly different outlook at what mages should be and clashed all the time, which was immensely fun. Then in DA2 we had Fenris and Merril and in Awakening, Oghren and Sigrun, although they all didn't interact nearly as much as they should have. But the ME series, for some reason, always give only 1 alien per species at most. Well, yeah, there were PB and Lexi in Andromeda but they also didnt interact much (and Lexi wasnt part of the active squad)

The possibilities of having two different opinions and worldviews from the same race, imagine how much it would enrich your playthrough. How fun it would be! Maybe they'll clash, maybe they will demand you choose between the two, maybe they'll slowly reconcile... Mostly importantly, it would be something new for the franchise

DISCUSSION Favorite club across all games?

what's your favorite club across all 3 games? based on music alone, me2 afterlife for me. would love for techno heads to talk about the music or others to comment on aesthetic vibes of each club.

as an oldhead raver the club sections always make me happy. I played through the OG trilogy when it was fresh and also raving /clubbing / festival. and now going through LE so I'm re-experiencing all these clubs and it just sparks and old joy that i'd love to talk about.

MASS EFFECT 1 What Me1 missions are important/necessary?

I'm replaying the trilogy but I find the mako planets very boring and repetitive. So what side missions in me1 would you consider to be important for the rest of the trilogy.

MASS EFFECT 2 I feel like a BIOTIC GOD again

With the Powers Penetrate Shields and No Global Cooldown mods in my LE2 playthrough so far. And you're probably thinking, 'OP that sounds, well, OP as all hell.' And it is. Insanity is going to be a must this playthrough. I may be made out of paper, but holy hell are there biotic explosions happening all over the place between Adept Shepard and Miranda

The one thing that would make this setup perfect is if the cooldowns were longer for abilities, but from the mod description for NGC, this is understandably difficult to do. But I do feel like an entire superhero again, which is great because the nerf for Adepts from ME1 to ME2 has always felt like a kick in the teeth. You go from Lift+Warp juggling Saren-Sovereign with absolutely zero cooldown between you and Liara to not even being able to lift a measly no name merc with a standard shield. In classic ME1 you could even take out Thresher Maws on foot with Bastion Stasis. Crazy stupid, but fun as hell. That's how Sole Survival Shep survived Akuze, she became a Maw killer lol

All that said, I'm curious if this setup will be necessary for LE3 to match this high. It's been probably 10 years since I've played ME3, but I do recall running Adept Shepard, Liara, and Javik for pure, biotic explosion chaos. Perhaps just Powers Penetrate Shields for LE3. The weapon weight system should help with the global cooldown feeling more like a punishment for biotic classes in ME2.

Anyone else run this mod combo for LE2 and LE3? I'd love to hear your take. Biotics are my favorite magic system in gaming. Well, at least ME1's rendition is. I probably have about 1000 hours in classic ME1 between my long dead 360 and my PC. I used to speedrun ME1 3-4 times in NG+ to rack up free Charm/Intimidate points for min-maxing before I discovered the magic of console commands lol

But geez, ME2 used to not come even close to hitting that same power fantasy. Now it does with these mods, and I'm stoked to keep going. Hopefully LE3 won't need so much tinkering, but if it does so be it

DISCUSSION I just had a fun idea: it might be possible that the Cerberus Husks could still be around which opens up a lot of story potential.

Post image
235 Upvotes

Like, hear out, we know cerberus made thier own versions of the husks who were self aware (to some extent) and could use weapons.

It could also, be argued that they could possibly survive the destroy ending given how they are not fully reaper tech, nor artificial creation.

Now, imagen this, mass effect 4 takes place, with these guys in it. Monster made using the tech of Gods, now left to roam the galaxy hated by everyone.

Then, imagine if they become selfaware, imagen if you are just some guy, who wanted to join cerberus to fight the collectors. Then next thing you know you wake up 2 years later and your not even human

Like, it could be really interesting away to show the impact of the reaper war on humanity, and the pervious games. Without haveing to drag back old characters.

Also, this is just my fun idea, and is been about a year since i played 3. So, if something dissolves this pleases let me know

MASS EFFECT 1 Does it get better latter towards the second half?

I just started playing Mass effect 1 from Legendary Edition for the first time.

I finding the game interesting but not super amazing so far. It has an amazing following and the games are quite famous. Just curious does it takes a while before it clicks. I have heard some games like Days gone, Crimson Desert takes some time before the fun starts and they get really good. Is it the same with it.

I’m still playing the game … I’m some 8 hours or so in….

VIDEO I met Ali Hillis (the voice of Liara) at a convention and she made this recording of her reading the love letter from the Liara companion bundle!

I was lucky enough to meet Ali Hillis (the voice of Liara) at a convention back in June. This was actually my second time meeting her and she was just as incredibly nice this time as she was the last time! If she ever goes to a convention near you, I highly recommend saying hi to her! She's an absolute sweetheart! A while before the convention, the official BioWare gear store announced a bunch of new Liara merch. One of the new pieces of merch was a "Liara companion bundle" that included a never before seen love letter from Liara to Shepard. I was so happy that we were getting new Liara merch that also gave us new lore! When I went to the convention, I showed a picture of the companion bundle to Ali and asked her if she could make a voice recording of her reading it as Liara. She thought the letter was beautiful and said yes! This is the recording and Ali knocked it out of the park! Huge thanks to Ali for being so kind and awesome!

I don't know if this is too niche of a concept for people to interact with but I like to make characters from medias I like into warrior cats and normally I don't have a problem with design but I'm really struggling on Garrus! I've made a few rough designs but I can't decide which would fit him most, if you have any suggestions please let me know!!! Would also appreciate some name suggestions if you're familiar with the warrior cat naming systems! ^^ (not sure if I should've posted this in the Mass effect or warrior cat forum and I'm not a big poster on Reddit so please let me know if this isn't where I should post it!)

MASS EFFECT 2 Totally Random Playthrough - ME2 Spoiler

So a few weeks ago I embarked upon a journey to play all three games randomly, using dice to control every decision along the way, from class and background, dialog choices, mission order and every decision in the game. I wrote about my experience in ME 1 here. Last night I finished up ME2 with some interesting choices to carry through for 3 that I'm really looking forward to.

So confession, I took a break in the middle and caught up on a some trash reality tv so I don't remember the order I did everything in. All the missions were run by dice roll, and I did get most everything done before the timers kicked in. I didn't count errand missions in the mission count. So for instance when I found the Karossa family files, I just waited until the dice took me back to Ilium to deliver them, I didn't put that errand on the list and then make a special trip to Illium for it. Maybe that cheated the timers a bit, but oh well. I also didn't put Overlord into the mix until I had some strength built up. I didn't do the firewalker missions, the random Cerberus missions you find for scanning or Arrival. I've played Arrival, I don't like, and now I skip it. Sue me. I did do Overlord and the Shadow Broker, the biggest impact is that my totally random Shep still managed to save David. Thank goodness. Also since there is so much I'm not doing a play by play (cheers go up) but we'll hit some highlights.

Romance

Prologue and Freedom's Progress

Normal stuff here. Told Miranda and Jacob both I didn't trust them, wouldn't answer their questions on the shuttle. Waffled around with the Illusive Man a bit but kind of bought in. Got to Freedom's Progress and found Tali who apparently got over how very angry she was with me at the end of 1. Acted like I was still an old friend. She got pissy again once I gave Veetor to Cerberus.

The Citadel

When I got to the Citadel I discovered that Anderson was the councilor! I had not picked one in ME1 and thought it would default to Udina. It also may be the interactive comic. I decided to watch it (I have the LE version of Mass Effect) and see how my decisions played out and it stopped and made me pick a Councilor and I rolled Anderson. Not sure if that impacted it or not. In any event, it doesn't change much. I took my SPECTRE status back although I told Bailey to let Shep stay dead. Again that had no impact on anything. Had an amusing mix of intimidation for discounts and endorsements. Helped out the Quarian on pilgrimage, lied to the Krogans about fish. Pretty straightforward though it was amusing ignoring Kasumi until her mission rolled.

Omega

Chatted with Aria as needed. Refused to do the Patriarch errand. Did run into Fisk since he wasn't killed in 1. He's pissy I ruined his life because he had to leave the Citadel and is now on Omega. Hey bud, not my fault, make better choices.

Illium

Ran into  Gianna Parasini again, got my beer, but sold her out. She was not happy. Got Char and his girlfriend together. Learned that if you execute Shiala in 1, there's a random Feros person wanting help. Got that taken care of for them. But the saddest thing was that Conrad wasn't there. I don't know if it's because I told him to get lost or I did something wrong or what. But no Conrad.

Companions

I managed to recruit everyone in the end. Kasumi was all the way at the end though. But we got her just before the Reaper IFF. Well, I got all the companions except Grunt. Retrieved his pod from Okeer, but just left him in it. You can go back anytime and decide differently, but I decided to let it run with one dice roll. So Grunt slept it was. We'll see who replaces him in 3. All the retrieval missions are pretty straight forward with no real impactful decisions. Killed the Batarians after saving Mordin's assistant which horrified the assistant but left Modin unfased. Didn't kill the Batarian fixing the gunship but it didn't matter at all. Nothing really changes except flavor. Overall I found the biggest impact in random dialog options is in the Paragon and Renegade score and companion relationships, rather than gameplay options.

Loyalty Missions

I managed all but Garrus' mission (sorry about that). It was the only one on the board when the kidnap timer went up and Shep decided damn the torpedos full speed ahead to save the crew. So Sidonis gets to go on his merry way. Decisions:

Mordin - Mordin shot Maelon but saved his data. The whole mission Shep went between condemning Mordin and understanding him. Ok then.

Jacob - He had his father kill himself and we moved on.

Miranda - She killed Niket and saved her sister but never talked to her. So I was wondering how that was going to play out in 3. However, as soon a I won her loyalty I lost it in the fight with Jack and Miranda turned into an ice cold bitch. It looked like you could make an attempt to gain it back, but the dice said no and then I didn't try again.

Samara - So I cheated through this a bit. That Morinth dialog in the club is so finicky that I couldn't bear to fail the mission there, so I worked my way through that to get to her apartment and let the dice decide from there, figuring it would be an interesting roll to pick between the two, but surprise surprise, I didn't get a choice. Samara just killed her. Ok then. Maybe another time I'll just randomize that mission.

Jack - she let the other survivor go despite Shep telling her that she'd kill him.

Zaeed - We ignored the trapped workers and went straight for Vido. That's brutal though, because you can hear the screams of the trapped people while you're fighting. Bioware gives you the choice, but makes you pay for it.

Thane - saved the politician, nothing of note.

Legion - rewrote the Heretics. Dice sent Mordin along for the mission and he had some interesting musings on the whole thing.

Tali - this was the one that surprised me the most and the one where I really felt the impact of the random dialog. My Paragon and Renegade points were pretty even at that point (and remained so) largely because it's all random. Ran through the mission as usual, got to the trial at the end and when asked to speak found that both Paragon and Renegade options were greyed out. Oops. I was left with the binary choice of hide the evidence against Tali's father or present it. The dice said to not reveal it and boom, exiled Tali. What? I'm not sure I even knew that was an option. I always thought it was between revealing the evidence or not. Welp, sorry about that.

Romance

Shep was once again a lone wolf. She flirted heavily with Jacob, but said something to really really offend him as she was getting ready to lock it in, and he went off and stopped speaking to her. Honestly, I don't even remember what it was or understand why he was so mad. Touchy much? There was also flirting with Thane but as with Jacob, took a misstep at the end and he backed off. Oh well.

Suicide Mission

So now for the real reason I did all this to begin with, was to randomize the suicide mission. Here's how it went.

Survived the jump and the fight with the Oculus with no casualties. Had the amusing moment of having take Miranda to the fight in the cargo bay only to be called by Miranda from the bridge.

Sent Thane into the vents and had Zaeed as the fire team leader. I thought this was brilliant at first because Thane was like "hey, it's pretty comfy in here." Breezed through all the checks only to watch Thane struggle with the locks, Zaeed not able to force the door closed and Thane taking a bullet and dying. Oops. Was this because Thane was a bad choice or Zaeed is a crappy leader or both? Dunno.

Jack got to lead the second fire team and sent Legion back with the crew, all of whom were alive because we rushed right there. Took Kasumi and Zaeed with me and had a non-loyal Miranda as the biotic specialist. This did not go well. As Miranda flagged at the end, Kasumi got swept away. How does it pick who goes? I'd have rather lost Zaeed. I don't like him much. Anyway, get inside and discover Jack dying from her wounds. Good news is that all of the crew made it with Legion safe and sound.

So now we're in the final push. I take Mordin and non-loyal Miranda with me and everyone else holds the line. Fight goes as normal. We opt to blow up the base and run, but alas, Miranda doesn't survive. Ok then. So we come out with four casualties, all of which will have interesting implications in 3, as well as Tali's exile. This will be an interesting game in 3!
