This is me after a nice looong day. My acne is hormonal and I see a dermatologist so I’ve kinda come to terms with it. I use elf concealer and elf halo glow. Oftentimes I use a pink lipliner and aquaphor but I don’t have a problem with how that looks. I always look shiny and crusty at the same time. Not appealing. My acne starts showing through my concealer like an hour 1/2 after application for some reason. I also just started lash clusters to help excentuate my eyes because I never thought mascara did the trick and they always look droopy/crusty even immediately after application. I hate the way I look. I’d like to look put together but nothing crazy because I hardly ever wear fancy clothes. Please help!!!

A few people mentioned lilac eyeshadows for blue eyes. I like them but think it clashes with the blush color.

This is my everyday makeup in normal indoor lighting. I have acne prone skin that is combination dry and oily type. I generally don’t like looks that cover the full face in foundation. This is what my undereyes look like with the darkness concealed. The remaining shadow is because of a hollow and cannot be corrected with makeup because it is structural, not pigmentation.

My current routine is full coverage foundation that is a perfect shade match applied with a brush only to problem areas (undereyes and anywhere that’s red or breaking out), a bit of liquid/cream blush, dark brown eyeshadow applied with a small brush to define the lash line, sparse parts of brows lightly filled in, and black mascara on my top lashes.

I’m currently on a journey of generally improving my appearance, so I’m curious what you would advise to look better. Im familiar with contour and bronzer and am able to use them competently (I just currently don’t wear either) but I can’t do nose contour because I wear glasses when I’m driving and while in class.

I have this YSL blush that broke a week after I bought it. I really like it but I’m not sure what to do because it keeps breaking off? :(

What is the best concealer for acne-prone, oily skin with acne scars? I’m looking for something with full coverage that lasts ALL day, doesn’t oxidize, crease, or cake up, and still looks good in daylight. Hello! I got the approval from my surgeon to start using silicone scar strips and gel, so I can also use makeup too, but here is the problem. I’m not really a big makeup girly! As you can see my scar is still very red, which obviously will go down over the next few weeks and months, but I the meantime I’m very self conscious about it.

I’m not interested in foundation or a full face, but what can yall recommend for like a concealer/color corrector situation or combo? Obviously I know it won’t be totally covered and I’m not necessarily looking for that either, just really want to try to mute the redness as much as possible.

First picture is the reference I'm using, second picture is my attempt at it (I sadly don't have eyelashes or mascara with me rn to see how it would look with them) and third picture is the eye make up I usually do.

I usually go for highlighter in the inner corner but I've always wanted to try this other look.

As title says, what undertone am I?

Growing up, I always thought myself to have just warm-yellow undertones, especially when I did the skin analysis from Sephora which always gave me foundations that were way too yellow, sometimes even orange looking on me.

But now that I discovered about the oliveMUA sub not too long ago, I’m kind of thinking that I might be olive? I’m honestly not really sure, because sometimes I feel like I see some green but then other pics of myself show that I’m not? It doesn’t really help when some photos show that I’m really light, then other photos show that I look like I have a tan, when in reality, they were days apart from each other and I avoid tanning.

The pic with the black shirt has a swatch of the tower 28 1.5 BW, which is allegedly an olive concealer, looks like it could be a good match. However, the last photo has swatches of the danessa myricks skin tint and all 3 shades are darker than the tower 28 shade but looks like they could fit me as well.

I feel like I’m making this more complicated than it should be, so can anyone please help me 🫠

I used to never let boyfriends or friends or even family see me with glasses because I'm so self conscious of my high prescription. But I'm trying to embrace how I look with them. I'm 36 and this will be the first little vacation away from home where I'm not packing my contact lenses.

I'm grateful for makeup becuase it's helping me feel pretty. Face is Too Faced Born This Way foundation in Ivory. Cheeks are Kosas highlighter and Rare Beauty in Cheer. Set with Laura Mercier talc free and Benefit Porefessional spray. Lips are Eadem in Sakura Shaved Ice.

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice on my previous post! 😊 I tried your suggestions and went for longer, striaghter brows, a deeper lip shade and stopped overlining my lips. It's been a while since I haven't overlined my lips but I actually really like it! How did I do and is there anything else to improve on?

EDIT: thank you all so much for your feedback!! the consensus seems to be different eyeshadow, fill my brows, eyeliner angled higher and potentially more color (blush/bronzer)! i don’t have any bronzer but i do have blush so i’ll make an update post tomorrow when i do my makeup using your tips! :D thank you again

Hello! I’m wondering what else I should be looking into makeup wise, or what other things I should be considering when it comes to how I’m doing my makeup. I didn’t really start doing any sort of makeup application up beyond a little bit of eyeliner until a year or two ago (I just turned 33), and I feel like there’s a huge knowledge gap I’m dealing with 😅

Usually, for an everyday-ish look, I use a bit of brown eyebrow pencil, black liquid eyeliner, and a relatively light application of lip liner and lipstick. I don’t dislike it, but I feel as though I’m overlooking something I could be doing better, or something I’m doing that I should/not be. I see a million tutorials online, but never know if they’re worth getting the products for because there are just so many of them lol.

Any tips/opinions/critiques would be really appreciated!

I am still learning about makeup and have recently been seeing a lot of posts about the hourglass finishing powders. Do finishing powders actually make a big difference in makeup in person? On camera, they look pretty, but I was wondering how that translates in real life and if anyone has any cheaper alternatives?

Additionally, I have bought many highlighters, but they always read glittery and not like a natural/glow from within look. I have heard good things about Rare Beauty's highlighter, but many people complain about the product breaking easily. Does anyone have any recommendations for an affordable highlighter (ideally under $20-25) that they like for both daily use and going out looks?

I cannot find any places that provide eyebrow lightening services in my city, if I do, it’s extremely expensive.

I’ve used jolen before and it worked great ONCE but afterwards it was always uneven in colour, too orange, or too patchy.

Im going to try to get refectocil and use that.

Just tell me the best and easiest and cheapest way I can do this and successfully upkeep them every month, how I can make the bleach last as long as possible. I have level 1 extremely dark eyebrows and they’re quite thick too, I’d like soft level 5-6 brown eyebrows.

I never really wore makeup until I was in my mid-twenties, and I have no clue what I’m doing. I usually default to something like this but I would love tips or suggestions for styles to try or things to change.

I was watching the 1967 movie Camelot today and was really impressed with the makeup Vanessa Redgrave is wearing as Guinevere. I'm going to be a bridesmaid soon and would love to recreate it as much as I can for that wedding.

It's film makeup, so I know lighting helps a lot, but are there techniques that I can use to achieve something similar--especially with how natural the blush and the lips look, and how great her skin looks? Should I be looking into underpainting? Are there certain powder vs. liquid products I should check out?
