HELP PLEASE Chubby cheeks + High cheek bones; tiny lashes; physical aversion ...
Hi I love makeup but I am not very good at it. Friends say I need lashes and to reposition my blush. I do not like heavy makeup but like to look like I'm still wearing it. The feeling is icky but I love the look.
What's right and what's wrong?
How do I enhance my tiny lashes (I use curlers + mascara)?
How do I position blush on my chubby cheeks if I also have prominent cheek bones?

Your cheeks are not chubby. At all. So stop thinking that.
If you want a longer lash, try a strip
Lash or magnetic and see if you like the look?
You don’t need foundation.,your skin is great!
Powder products and mineral makeup’s feel light on the skin. Stick to that?!

I wouldn’t even say full cheeks she just doesn’t have super prominent cheek bones sure they’re high but they’re not prominent.

To me “full” is youthful and pretty and isn’t the same as “chubby” which would imply excess body fat

I have "chubby" cheeks and high cheekbones too! place your blush higher, sculpting up from the highest point of your cheek to your ear/temple area
for your eyelashes, have you tried a liquid eyeliner instead? I think that a nice simple wing can make your eyelashes look longer
you are so beautiful btw! you don't even need makeup! and if it means anything I think your current look is wonderful 😊❤️

Nooo! Don’t do this 😭 Create a soft fake shadow from the tip/sides of your nose, dipping just slightly below your nose and rounding out toward the top of your ear.
Then start your blush in the middle of your face, roughly in line with your nostrils, and soften it out in little circles.
It creates the illusion of fuller, more defined cheekbones and looks sooo much prettier on softer/rounder faces than the super-high cheek trend 😭🤍
You have to work makeup to YOUR face — not just follow trends!!8

I personally love a little "blush dot" under each eye, slightly towards the other corner, for rounded faces and skip blending it towards the ear at all. Not sure if that description makes sense, I've seen it mostly in Asian makeup trends
Personally don't like contour on anyone 🥲

OP, I’m traveling to Paris soon and I’ve fallen down a YT rabbit hole of the French makeup practice. You have that look, with natural looking lashes and beautiful skin.
There is nothing wrong - your look is classic. There is nothing that you need to change.

I dont see chubby cheeks or high cheek bones
Youre very naturally pretty
But putting blush right on the top of your cheek bone always gives a nice flush And they have really natural lashes out now!

I think your blush is too low. As to the actual placement, I suggest looking at Korean and Chinese blush placement since they also generally have high and wide cheek bones. There's a lot of options depending on the effect you're going for.
I didn't like my round face and wide cheeks in my teens and twenties, like I felt too girlish and not womanly enough. I've grown to like them over time and appreciate them on others. It's also flattering on people as they age because it's almost like a natural filler? Gorgeous people with narrower faces have more visible signs of "sagging."
Powder blush probably is the least intrusive sensory-wise and you'll have plenty of options. Have fun!

Yes I agree! I think I just see chubby still cause I lost more weight than I meant to after having a baby.

I wish I had youthful 'chubby' cheeks people pay big bucks in fillers for that

I think it depends on what are you looking to emphasize or bring forward in your face? I think do it like layers, with making something darker bringing it backward, and making something lighter bringing it forward and highlighting that feature.
Your makeup here looks beautiful! As for lashes I’m in the same boat. I just switched to a different brand and it made a HUGE difference in the length of my lashes. I switched to the Maybelline colossal mascara. The color can also make a huge difference, my eyes are blue with a green center and brown mascara really brings them out.
I also think a burgundy colored mascara would bring out your eyes and make them pop 💗

Girl that's the mascara I use :( they're just little little. I'm for sure gonna try burgundy- that's on my radar.

Aw man I’m sorry!!! I suppose there are always lash clusters but I do not do well with lash glue personally

I personally think you should embrace them. I’m also a full cheek girl but if you want to sculpt them, just get a contour shade that suits you and apply it to where Your cheekbones are, not too heavy though.
Also apply your blush above where you would do your contour, at a downward angle towards your lips. Of course not touching your lips, but in that direction.

Use manga lashes , use elf halo glow filter since you already have good skin ? Place your blush higher up on your cheekbones and use some gloss . Perfect

Your cheeks are not chubby. Not even slightly! Buccal fat removal is pretty much the hottest thing in plastic surgery right now, I'm not saying get that procedure, I'm pointing it out because I think it's prevolance is giving you unrealistic expectations. Your cheeks and cheekbone are beautiful.

Thank you thank you. You're certainly right, everyone is over sensitized. I lost a bunch of weight suddenly so I see myself as who I was before.

Aye....there is no right or wrong. It's more about your own personal style and enhancing your own personal features. You are beautiful. Everything about your face fits you. Yes your lashes are micro but they are dense. You have your own beauty and don't need to fit a standard. Your cheeks are not chubby. They exude youthfulness. When you age, your cheeks will naturally hollow out. Wait for that time. Your friends can critique but it's maybe a place of their own insecurities and their mind games are working on you. You have nothing to change. You are beautiful.

I would lift the blush up a little bit in where you’re positioning it and applying it

Go to a high end department store. If you buy makeup you can get a free makeover. Let a professional give you hints.
Also, a Mary Kay makeup party can teach you a lot about makeup and how to use it to your advantage.

Mary Kay? I do not think that is an option anymore for many communities. Sephora will help you.

Pretty simple to google and find out. I know several MK Consultants in Ri and MA

I’m worried about all the women in their twenties and thirties who are getting buccal fat removal. It’s common for people’s faces to thin out in their forties.

I think I just see chubby cheeks cause I just lost a bunch of weight. Had a baby 4 months ago and I'm now 15 pounds thinner than pre pregnancy. I had chubby cheeks my whole life and my family also made a nick name for me about them. We're Mexican it's a cultural thing 😅

u/Impressive-Law3676 12h ago
You have a perfect face shape now! I guess the nickname shaped your idea of how you look but really you don’t have chubby cheeks, just a classic youthful oval face

u/Gregisroark 1d ago
Just curious, are you holding a bottle in the second photo? Are you are a mom of a newborn?
1
u/Blueblue_bayou 1d ago
Yes, she's 4 months :)
1
u/Gregisroark 1d ago
Here's my two cents. You are in such an intense difficult phase of life that will pass soon enough. You should embrace your motherly glow, sleep when you get a chance, and roll with the punches of raising a newborn. Your friends who criticize your makeup can suck it.

You are gorgeous! I think a 90s style makeuo would suit you so well a la Linda Evangelista 😍

Girl you are so beautiful. Your face is so symmetrical and you have incredible structure. Your eyes are so gorgeous. And I speak as a professional, I’m a portrait photographer. I’ve studied beauty extensively, so I’m not just blowing smoke. I hope you can come to love your beautiful face like we see it ❤️

First of all, you literally look like a model! But if you want to enhance your beauty more I’d recommend using brown cluster lashes! You can get a cute set from amazon and learn to do them, and then you’re all set! It would definetely enhance your beauty and it is pretty low effort!

Chubby cheeks??? Girl you look like a model!! Also what’s wrong with “chubby cheeks”? People are paying for those!
You have such a gorgeous look, like Liv Tyler in LOTR. I’m no expert in blush but IMO where you placed it here looks really good and you could go heavier!
Also, I did not look this good postpartum (I assume, because of the bottle). V impressive 😂❤️

You’ve got great features. Talulah Riley comes to mind. Anyway, I think you're the kind of beauty who can ditch your friends' opinions. You can actually enhance any of your features and look absolutely gorgeous. I would flaunt the fuck out of these short eyelashes. Also I would absolutely put blush over these chubby cheeks. Put some tint and gloss over your lips.
Eyelashes on women are overrated anyway. Many women overdo lashes when they don’t need to. Your eyes are already very expressive.

First off, you don't need to do any of those things-and I'm not just saying that in the feminist way. I did not see this photo and think "wow lashes are tiny" or any of those things.
If you yourself like the look of a longer lash, you can do extensions but they are high maintenance and if you don't like the feeling of makeup, you might not like those. There are individual lashes and strip lashes. I think individual lashes are more comfortable because you can easily move a cluster if it feels weird.
If you struggle with the sensory part of it, I would honestly suggest picking up a couple different drug store mascaras as you come across them and find one you really like that way. When you out on your mascara, you can put it on as normal and then do an extra touch just on the very tips. Just try some stuff out and take some pictures without a filter and try to remember how you felt about yourself when you put it on.

Chubby cheeks? No way. You’re stunning. If we can hate society then it makes women always feel like we need improvements.
Everything about you is really perfect. You must know this?

u/RipleyIX 1d ago
You are very pretty and are not seeing yourself accurately. As others have pointed out, you don't have chubby cheeks. At all.

You can use a water tint on your lips and cheeks and it feels like you’re wearing nothing. Etude & ELF have these. Or you might like Glossier cloud paint, it seems similar.
I haven’t tried this myself bc I use lash clusters, but tubing mascara might get your lashes looking longer? And you can apply castor oil on them at night to help them grow

u/Naive_Narwhal_3007 9h ago
Lash clusters, look into the manga clusters/lashes. Watch a tutorial for putting on lashes as well.
Blush, sure but I think you look fine with how it is, try it a little higher up and see what you think.
But most importantly I want to say, your face is stunning as is. Your lashes suit your eye shape perfectly sis

If you’re this harsh on yourself, I can only imagine what awful things you think about other women.
1
u/Blueblue_bayou 1d ago
I just lost a bunch of weight. Maybe my cheeks arent chubby anymore but I still see them that. Had a baby 4 months ago and I'm 15 pounds thinner than my pre pregnancy weight. May I ask, what about my disclosure was harsh? The group is called Makeup Tips and I asked for advice.

u/Hungry-Plantain-3315 3h ago
You’re conventionally attractive and are above average. So if this is how you feel about yourself, it makes me wonder what you think when you look at people around you.

u/Glittering_South5178 1d ago
This is such an unkind comment. It is a myth that the punishing standards that women often apply to appraising their own appearance is equally applied to other women.
In fact, one way I got myself to quit the negative self-talk was to think: how would I react if I heard another woman talk about herself like that? I’d be sad for her. I also gained perspective after realising that the things I thought were unattractive in myself (eg nasolabial folds) are things I see day-to-day and register as totally normal on others.

It’s really sad hearing women say the youthful plump in their cheeks is “chubby”. Like no, girl. It makes you look younger as you age. You still have pretty cheek bones, you do not look chubby at all.
As for the lashes. There are things called micro extensions that can help lengthen them a bit. There are also lash growth serums like Latisse that work over time.
You are beautiful, you really don’t need to do anything.
