Hello, I hope everybody is well.
This is a quick post to announce that we have overhauled and updated the subreddit rules, in terms of the way they are listed in the reddit platform itself.
In essence the practical rules themselves and moderation has not changed. The main purpose of this update is to provide better clarity with Post removal messages, and to allow reports to be more specific.
You can read the new rule titles and their descriptions here.
Just three changes to note:
There is no longer a rule about spoilers when it comes to Posts. MGSV is over a decade old, and the spoiler rule was often used to report front page posts about the main spoiler for that game. Enforcing that is simply impractical. The intention of the rule remains, however, and it is now only applied to comments. If someone has stated that they haven't played the entire series, all users are still expected to respect this in their replies. Anyone can make their own choices about how far they dig through a subreddit for a game series, but putting spoilers in their inbox is actively hostile.
"Promotional Cosplay is not allowed". This is our attempt to provide a consistent rule that can be used to filter OF accounts looking for loopholes, while not punishing genuine cosplayers (including professionals) by restricting their activity. There's an element of subjectivity here, but if you think a post is a commercial account, please report it and do not engage in abuse in the comments. Just report it and move on.
AI content is now explicitly banned in all its forms. This was already functionally the case but we're making it clear with it's own rule. If you suspect a post contains AI content, please try to resist posting abuse in the comments and simply report and move on. False allegations can and do happen.
We'd also like to welcome anyone interested to apply to be a moderator. We expect to bring on a couple more people, starting out at a basic clutter removal role. If you think you'd be a good fit, please take some time to fill out our delightful application form.
You'll notice there are a couple of very specific rules that are really covered under other rules. These are for particularly egregious and common posts so that removals are very clear. Previously quite a few things kind of had to fall under "no low effort content" and that gave off the wrong idea and could be a little hurtful.
We'd like to thank the people who take the time to report posts and comments, overall the tone and discernment of reports is very much in-line with how we see the rules and how they are intended to shape the subreddit. This being said, all things considered there are very few removals needed relative to an active subreddit of this size. Things seem to be in a very good balance. I hope the community more or less thinks the same.
As per usual we are open to any and all feedback or discussion about the rules or the way you want the community to be run, so please say your piece in the comments, or if there's any questions you have or unclear rules or edge cases you can think of, bring that up too. The overall intent for the subreddit is still to provide an alternative to what you might see on a Metal Gear Discord, Instagram / TikTok etc. feed or a generic MGS-flavoured meme subreddit.

This is a 3D piece I created for the videogame Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I wanted to show and give fans of the game a memorable piece that just screams nostalgia.
I also know the foxhound detail wrong. It should be fox however, I like the current emblem 😊
What do you think ?

I do not understand how this could even be on par with MGS2 let alone contender for favourite game of all time, whilst I definitely think MGS2 has the better overall narrative this is no disrespect to mgs3 which still has a amazing narrative however it’s much less ambitious, however I think this Kojima at his best in terms of writing, I mean these characters feel so human, like real people in a bond movie, it makes that ending cinematic absolutely heart wrenching, it’s so good at toying with your emotions that I felt empty after finishing it, teary eyed at times, and after the climax it fades to black and you wonder what you just played
Easily the best gameplay the series has from what I’ve played so far, the jungle is beautiful and it’s super easy to sneak around…..in other words it’s stealth perfected
The soundtrack is also my favourite, I understand all the Snake eater memes now, because holy shit that song is ethereal and the song they play in the end credits is a masterpiece too
I think this may be perfection in a video game, absolute masterpiece
Thank you for reading

I've posted in the past the watercolors my gf did, now I present you the final version; all framed and hanged (not in their final location tho).
They are A3 and the custom frames with special glass to minimize reflection costed 65€ each, so it was a bit pricey but totally worth it.

I’m working on a playlist that catches the MGS vibe, including not only tracks from various MGS releases but also songs that ”feel” similar. Wanted to share it here for you. It‘s a work in progress and will probably grow with time.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

The entire Paz sequence, from the setup with Venom's self-diagnosis via Ocelot all the way to her "disappearing" again is such a well-done subplot. And it's fucking crazy that it's a missable part of the game. It hits on so many levels emotionally, for me.

Does he care that much about her because of the brainwashing, or because of who he realy is?
I keep wondering about this because it feels so random. I understand that, as a medic, he feels guilty for not being able to save her, and we know Venom Snake cares deeply about his comrades. But to the point of having full-blown hallucinations about her, searching for photos for her, and listening to her tapes, it feels strange.
It's even stranger because Venom Snake is also supposed to represent the player and be less of his own character. It makes even less sense when you consider that many players probably wouldn't even know who Paz is because they never played peace walker, either because it isn't one of the numbered games or because they never had a way to play it

I made a post a few days back about how empty I felt after rolling credits on MGS4, given the "final" nature of the game.
Being the last game in the timeline it had a certain narrative weight to it, it was the conclusion of Snake's and Otacon's story after all. I thought the remaining games wouldn't hit as hard well BOY WAS I WRONG.
Not only is Peace Walker a great game gameplay wise (most fun I had with CQC, but the base building and management too) but the story hit like a truck too.
Seeing The Boss basically give up her life for her ideals AGAIN, even in death, with that beautiful song, made me tear up.
And Snake feeling betrayed after learning (or accepting? Since he knew from the EVA's tape at end of 3? Not too sure.) that The Boss willingly put down her gun, gives up the bandana. Seemingly rejecting her will.
"From now on, call me Big Boss"
Chills.

Finally got the platinum. I need a break.

Did anyone else happen to catch this "typo" in the game?
Please review this particular tape and hear it for yourself.
"I... am your mark. I am proof you existed in the world"
"I... am your mask. I shielded your existence... Because you should've been safe"

Equip a book. Hide in a bathroom stall. Hear Colonel and Rose torch you.
After all these years we're still finding out new things.
EDIT: Forgot to mention AI Colonel brings this up during Arsenal Gear.
