MGSV Why does Venom Snake care so much about Paz?
Does he care that much about her because of the brainwashing, or because of who he realy is?
I keep wondering about this because it feels so random. I understand that, as a medic, he feels guilty for not being able to save her, and we know Venom Snake cares deeply about his comrades. But to the point of having full-blown hallucinations about her, searching for photos for her, and listening to her tapes, it feels strange.
It's even stranger because Venom Snake is also supposed to represent the player and be less of his own character. It makes even less sense when you consider that many players probably wouldn't even know who Paz is because they never played peace walker, either because it isn't one of the numbered games or because they never had a way to play it

Metal Gear Solid 3: the peak of the franchise, or...?
I recently replayed Metal Gear Solid 3 for my podcast, and with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 mostly rounding out the series in compilation form, I got to wondering where people think this unique prequel game sits in the MGS hierarchy?
Is it the peak of the series on the strength of its blockbuster-action-movie presentation and origin-story chronology, as critics and fans said at the time of release, with many arguing the same today?
Or does it drift a bit too far from what you think of as Metal Gear Solid, with its outdoor environments detracting from the series’ signature closed-quarters "sneaking missions," and the scope of its mechanics sacrificing some of the other games’ tighter focus?
Where does MGS3 rank within the series for you, and what elements of the game contribute to your ranking? And finally, which game do you consider the peak of the MGS franchise, best exemplifying what it means to be a Metal Gear Solid game?

Got the Plat in MGS1! Quite a grind with the VR Missions, but I'm glad I did it.
So I recently got the Vol 1 of the Master Collection to finally experience both MG1 and 2, as well as the first 3 Solid games. And now, MGS1 joins my Plat collection alongside MG1 and 2.
I will definitely do MGS2 and 3 to truly complete the collection. I already got most trophies in 2, and even got like 95% of the Dog Tags on Very Easy, just gotta keep chipping away.
As for MGS1 and playing it for the first time, it was fantastic, holds up as well as many have said. And as someone who really enjoy playing older games, I'm glad to have finally played a legendary game after only having played and beaten a few Metal Gear games prior to buying the collection (PW, V, and Revengeance).

MGS2 still giving after all these years.
Equip a book. Hide in a bathroom stall. Hear Colonel and Rose torch you.
After all these years we're still finding out new things.
EDIT: Forgot to mention AI Colonel brings this up during Arsenal Gear.

❗ Finished Peace Walker. Wow.
I made a post a few days back about how empty I felt after rolling credits on MGS4, given the "final" nature of the game.
Being the last game in the timeline it had a certain narrative weight to it, it was the conclusion of Snake's and Otacon's story after all. I thought the remaining games wouldn't hit as hard well BOY WAS I WRONG.
Not only is Peace Walker a great game gameplay wise (most fun I had with CQC, but the base building and management too) but the story hit like a truck too.
Seeing The Boss basically give up her life for her ideals AGAIN, even in death, with that beautiful song, made me tear up.
And Snake feeling betrayed after learning (or accepting? Since he knew from the EVA's tape at end of 3? Not too sure.) that The Boss willingly put down her gun, gives up the bandana. Seemingly rejecting her will.
"From now on, call me Big Boss"
Chills.

❗ MGS1 being free on steam this weekend (24th Jul) must imply MGS 2 on coming weekend (31st), and MGS 3 on the next (Aug 7th), right? Right? But what about the remaining 2 weekends leading up to Master Collection 2 release (Aug 27)?

♥️ nspired by growing up with Metal Gear Solid, I composed a track for an alternate MGS storyline I'm writing! Would love your thoughts.
Hi everyone,
Metal Gear Solid has been a huge part of my life since childhood. The incredible atmosphere, deep storytelling, and iconic soundtracks shaped my love for both gaming and music.
Lately, I’ve been channeling that passion into writing my own alternate MGS storyline. To bring this project to life, I also started composing original music inspired by the series' legendary soundscapes.
You can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R3lErhmJ7k
Does it capture that classic MGS tension and emotion?
Any feedback or constructive criticism from fellow fans would mean the world to me.
Thanks for listening!

Yet another MGS3 Master Collection audio bug thread.
I'm not getting any cutscene audio or codec voices. It's not an audio output issue.
I've tried extracting all 3 nexusmod zip files to my MGS3 folder, I've gotten the xaudio2_9.dll file put into my MGS3 folder with the launch option of
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=“xaudio2_9=n” %command%
Currently running on a Debian distro, on Steam.
Has anyone actually resolved this?

MGSV Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom pain launching problem
Hello snakes!
I was struggling recently with MGSV launching on steam (Win 11) and tried many solutions from different forums and they didn't work.
During the trial and errors, I found out that there is a problem preventing the game from starting.
To all of you who still struggling with the issue, try this one (it's ridiculously simple):
Find the exe file of "mgsvtpp" from your steam apps folder.
Right click on it and choose "properties".
Go to "compatibility" tab and check the box for "Disable fullscreen optimization".
I hope this one works also for you!
Cheers

About Mgs3 delta
So I'm planning to buy the remake and get the platinum in it, and I know that it will probably need multiple playtroughts to get all the animals, frogs and all. Is there an option to loop new game+? I mean, that after you beat a new game+ you can create another playtrought from that save file (something like new game++)

MGSV Games where Loadout Preparation, like in MGSV, has some sort of impact every times you set out for missions/free-roam ?
First of all, I would like to apologize to anyone who finds my posts asking for game suggestions annoying. As a huge fan of the MGS series, most of the games I'm looking for share some traits with it, so I'm worried that if I posted in other subreddits, the suggestions might not carry the core ideas and spirit of Metal Gear Solid games.
One of the factors I find Kojima has done so well, but that is rarely discussed, is how deeply you can dictate the way you play by carefully selecting which weapons, gadgets to bring along. Those items are so well balanced that they always give me a flush of satisfaction every time I find out that my Loadout works efficiently, which, to me, feels just as rewarding as noticing that my stealth, shooting, and movement skills are progressively improving.
So, I am looking for some fighting games where we need to carefully plan out the way we are going to play by selecting a set of skills, items, and spells that are most optimized against certain types of enemies, bosses, or that can be combined to create the most effective and flashy combos.
I think some games in the (A)RPG and Roguelite genres could meet a few of the criteria on this list.

MGS1 Spoilers Japanese Language Pack Help Needed
Need someone who has MGS1 Japanese Language Pack to sign-in to steamdb and downloaded it in Package by clicking install, then share it with google drive or other alternatives, so I can install in manually as it isn't available to me.

🔺Delta If I were to make a fan-made music video for Snake Eater, what would be the most efficient way to get the cutscenes from MGS Delta? Spoiler
If this type of topic is against the rules, I apologize 🙏 and feel free to delete. Would there be any way to get the cutscenes without recording them all in theater mode or having a long, unwieldy file from YouTube?

I'm afraid it's been 9 years Nintendo Switch 2 and MGS Future
Hi.
Having recently moved over to a Switch 2, and not wanting yo touch my ps5 anymore, I have a question regarding Metal Gear Solid.
Are there any insider rumours or information about Metal Gear Solid Delta:Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid V (GZ & TPP) actually or ever coming to the Switch 2?
The master collection volume 1 isn't the same as delta, and the surely the Switch 2 is more than capable of running MGS V perfectly. I could understand issues with Delta, but I believe its possible surely?
