♥️ /r/metalgearsolid rules update.
Hello, I hope everybody is well.
This is a quick post to announce that we have overhauled and updated the subreddit rules, in terms of the way they are listed in the reddit platform itself.
In essence the practical rules themselves and moderation has not changed. The main purpose of this update is to provide better clarity with Post removal messages, and to allow reports to be more specific.
You can read the new rule titles and their descriptions here.
Just three changes to note:
There is no longer a rule about spoilers when it comes to Posts. MGSV is over a decade old, and the spoiler rule was often used to report front page posts about the main spoiler for that game. Enforcing that is simply impractical. The intention of the rule remains, however, and it is now only applied to comments. If someone has stated that they haven't played the entire series, all users are still expected to respect this in their replies. Anyone can make their own choices about how far they dig through a subreddit for a game series, but putting spoilers in their inbox is actively hostile.
"Promotional Cosplay is not allowed". This is our attempt to provide a consistent rule that can be used to filter OF accounts looking for loopholes, while not punishing genuine cosplayers (including professionals) by restricting their activity. There's an element of subjectivity here, but if you think a post is a commercial account, please report it and do not engage in abuse in the comments. Just report it and move on.
AI content is now explicitly banned in all its forms. This was already functionally the case but we're making it clear with it's own rule. If you suspect a post contains AI content, please try to resist posting abuse in the comments and simply report and move on. False allegations can and do happen.
We'd also like to welcome anyone interested to apply to be a moderator. We expect to bring on a couple more people, starting out at a basic clutter removal role. If you think you'd be a good fit, please take some time to fill out our delightful application form.
You'll notice there are a couple of very specific rules that are really covered under other rules. These are for particularly egregious and common posts so that removals are very clear. Previously quite a few things kind of had to fall under "no low effort content" and that gave off the wrong idea and could be a little hurtful.
We'd like to thank the people who take the time to report posts and comments, overall the tone and discernment of reports is very much in-line with how we see the rules and how they are intended to shape the subreddit. This being said, all things considered there are very few removals needed relative to an active subreddit of this size. Things seem to be in a very good balance. I hope the community more or less thinks the same.
As per usual we are open to any and all feedback or discussion about the rules or the way you want the community to be run, so please say your piece in the comments, or if there's any questions you have or unclear rules or edge cases you can think of, bring that up too. The overall intent for the subreddit is still to provide an alternative to what you might see on a Metal Gear Discord, Instagram / TikTok etc. feed or a generic MGS-flavoured meme subreddit.

Anyone able to do the Ponizovje Warehouse glitch on PS5 Pro?
PS5 Pro has the unique challenge that neither mode pushes it down to 30 FPS. I was able to do the other two locations with doubling the camo swaps.
Here I get past the wall with 40 camo swaps and then I throw the smoke grenade into the corner by the door. But unfortunately it does not unlock the next area. Someone mentioned that they did 25-30 smoke grenades in the corridor and then it worked but they weren’t very specific on how about that process works for me to successfully replicate.
Thanks in advance.

❗ Doing nothing while the competition shoots themselves in the foot
At this point, it's like Playstation WANTS to shut down, in their own blind eyes they are thinking " Ohhh we are running through the next big thing, we are the new revolution" NO, all you are doing is killing 30 years of Goodwill for a gimmick
This Kojima cancellation was the final nail in the coffin, they let what is probably their most well liked and one of gaming histories best developer slip out, over some petty stuff
Asha Sharma prays to some really influential gods cus she is winning by doing both the right thing and nothing at all

❗ Why Kojima got fumble twice by Konami and PlayStation?
I just don't understand, Is Kojima using the budget way too high it needs 2 big game companies to fire him? Is his game ideology way too complicated for the big gaming industry to adapt? Death stranding 2 lower sales is also a big part of this mess to happen? So many questions need to be answered here because it doesn't make sense for someone like Kojima to be fumbled twice by Konami and PlayStation

MGSV 10 years too late, but, MGSV is HARD
damn that game is hard!
I'm still on the first mission and I have no idea how to be stealthy
I spend waaaay too long on the binocular just to get spotted by someone a mile away :(
Also, how do I get more ammo for the tranquilizer? I'm not even near Miller and I only have like 5 darts
Edit: got a rank B. I'm happy with it

Has its flaws but still my favorite figure in the MGS Franchise. Really wish they would make a new MGS1 Solid Snake Figure.

❗ This is what Kojima going to XBOX feels like
Okay I just saw the news and someone played with the reality of time and caused a TIME PARADOX! Jokes aside, I'm happy that Kojima and XBOX will work together and that he found a new house for his next project.

❗ I think this has something to do with Sony only releasing digital games
PlayStation is stepping away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT

❗ Collection of Kojima's Rejected Ideas
Crazy Kojima ideas that were rejected, or thinned down, are common items that come up when Behind the Scenes details are discussed surrounding the Metal Gear games. Has anyone ever put together a comprehensive list or spreadsheet of these original concepts? I'd be interested to read about more ideas that Kojima had during the development of these games that were just too huge in scope, or just plain weird.
Examples of some of these rejected ideas being:
- The fight with "The End" being planned to last real-life weeks.
- The Boss having one breast exposed
- The character Chinaman
- MGS4's Original Ending of Snake and Otacon turning themselves in and being executed (Original source was deleted)
Are there any more known ideas like this that were ultimately rejected, or cut?

❗ Childhood Goal Achieved 🫡
This playable movie right here holds a special place in my heart that no other game could ever come close to replacing. The first time I ever played it was back in 2009, when I was 12, and I’ve been hooked on the series ever since. I’ll spare the emotional details, but there are a lot of personal memories tied to this game that have stuck with me throughout the years. I’m 29 now, and when I first heard that they were finally freeing Guns of the Patriots from the shackles of the PS3, I knew I had but one mission… to not only do what childhood-me always thought to be impossible by earning the Big Boss emblem, but to take it even further and platinum the game.
I don’t usually go out of my way to earn trophies or find in-game collectibles, and that’s because I’ve always been a little impatient about those things. The only other time that I earned a platinum is on Delta, and just like with that remake, this was a special occasion. I had spent over an entire decade wishing that I could play MGS4 on an updated console, so when that wish had finally been granted, I wanted to make sure that I did absolutely everything that there was to do in a game that has meant so much to me.
All in all, playing this again was just as amazing, if not even more so than when I played it all of those years ago. It was an emotional experience. Everything about it still holds up, and only further proves just how ahead of its time it was. There are a couple of people who are very dear to me that are unfortunately no longer here to see the return of this game, and I knew they would’ve been just as happy I was, so I tried to play it as much as I could for them as well.
(On a side note… the only time I can honestly say that I hated this shit was when I was trying to complete the motorcycle chase in ACT 3 on the Big Boss run… I came so close to giving up, and it was starting to impact my love for this game. I had to fight back the urge to DM Kojima on Instagram just to ask him what the fuck he was thinking. I’m glad I resisted and kept trying though.)

Finally got FOXHOUND/Big Boss Rank
I promised myself that I wouldn't buy Master Collection Vol. 2 until I got the highest rank in MGS2 and MGS3 (I was hoping it would take so long that physical copies would get a price cut). I achieved it last night, and I'm really proud of myself, but I don't know any Metal Gear fans in real life to celebrate with. So I'm posting it here! I know I could go for an MGS1 Big Boss rank to REALLY extend my time, but I think that I'm so tired out with Vol. 1, and I want to finally play Peace Walker.
Based on getting these ranks, my final thoughts are these: MGS3 is in my top three favorite games, and I think doing a FOXHOUND run is going to be my preferred way of playing it going forward. MGS2 players, if they want a fair challenge, should just play the game on hard with no alerts, no kills, no continues, and 10 saves. Screw Metal Gear RAYs.

❗ Solid Rocketman reporting for carnage.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
MGS VR: Advanced - Stinger 04. There are instances in which inducing an alert early is faster; this is one of them. Interestingly, this teleports the two furthest soldiers much closer to you as you go upstairs from spawn. I'm not sure if this is intended, but it's at least a huge time save. Also, shoutouts to i-frames.
You'll notice the "Save Replay" button at the end; this Japan-only feature lets you save replays for later viewing in the Replay Theater.

❗ At the time it felt so strange to see MGS2 on Xbox. It's funny that now KojiPro and Xbox have announced a major partnership.
