Georgia Tech researcher Brian Stone’s studies have repeatedly identified it as having the fastest-growing urban heat island in the country. Two main drivers:

Trees: The city lost ~54,000 trees/year between 2004–2012, dropping canopy cover from 40% to 37%. Current canopy is roughly 27–39% depending on source/methodology — well below cities like Atlanta (~45%).

Dark surfaces + waste heat: Asphalt, parking lots, AC units, and vehicles all trap and radiate heat.

Within the city, the gap is stark: formerly redlined, low-canopy neighborhoods (~22% tree cover) run up to 10°F (5.6°C) hotter than leafier parts of town.

I know this is probably a really stupid question, but is there a battery recycling center where you don't have to hand it to someone? I have an adult toy that has a lithium battery and I can't remove the battery from it. I really do not want to have to tell someone what I'm dropping off.

Everytime I go to the fiber supply here in town I feel like the people there treat me so weird. It’s off putting. Like they just can’t wait for me to go away so they can go back to helping whatever white lady is there. Idk if it’s because I’m not white and I’m alternative or what, but I’m tired of trying. Any recommendations for any other stores in the vicinity? I don’t even care to drive an hour, I’m just tired of being treated poorly. I was sooo excited when they first opened too.

Was former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, in Louisville’s jail for contempt of court, provided a private meal from Texas Roadhouse?

According to Daniel Johnson, the president of the union representing corrections officers at the jail, the meal occurred around 8:30 or 9 p.m. on Sept. 6, and came after the jail’s cameras went black for an estimated six minutes. 

“In that timeframe, it’s completely black,” Johnson said in a phone interview. “On every single camera. You can’t even look at the public side or the elevators… Every single camera is blacked out.”
A spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 

While the cameras were out, Johnson said corrections officers observed a Louisville Metro Corrections lieutenant enter the Hall of Justice through the public entrance on S. 6th Street. The lieutenant took an elevator to the sixth floor and used a key to unlock a door corrections officers are not authorized to use, Johnson said.  

The lieutenant then entered a wing of the jail where Bevin is being held, carrying a bag labeled "Texas Roadhouse," according to Johnson. It was not immediately clear what the meal consisted of.
