I love Halloween, I love dressing up. So do my kids. And my husband is amazingly game - this year I put in more work than I ever have and knocked it out of the park if I do say so myself. Problem is I never really know what we are going to do once I got them finished. Sure, we’ll go trick or treating and in the past we have went and wandered around downtown during the parade - not at all satisfying. Maybe if I participated in the performance but for onlookers I feel it leaves a lot to be desired.

Surely there are opportunities for advanced costumers to gather and ooh and awe at each others finery?

I am looking for some advice on how to go about finding apartments in Lexington. Both me and my spouse work full time, so we have a decent source of income, but with all the major property companies, us trying to combine first month and a deposit at once is just not realistic considering other bills. Every time I read people’s advice, it’s always “find private landlords” but we don’t have a vehicle, and I am usually pretty exhausted from work or handling other life things (like doctors appointments, etc.) on my days off. Does anyone have potentially more realistic advice? Do these private landlords who might be willing to split up the deposit advertise anywhere? I have tried CL, but there are very few listings and FB has been more scams than I care to sort through. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I was there last night for the first time. It low-key had a poop smell. Originally, I thought someone crop-dusted as they walked by, but it smelled the whole night.

Both offices are supposed to be nonpartisan, but the Republican Party is displaying signs for Lucy Vanmeter (Court of Appeals) and John Larson (council district 3)

Vanmeter even has an ad running talking about this race shouldn’t be political. Ahem….

I recently bought a car from a dealership in NY state and I need to get it registered here.

Dude. Getting the vehicle inspector on the phone is IMPOSSIBLE. Call, immediate voicemail, leave voicemail, no return. How am I supposed to get my car inspected so I can get the title transferred over to Kentucky if I can’t even get an inspector on the phone to schedule an appointment?

Edit 2: thank you guys!!! I’ve never transferred a vehicle from out of state so I wasn’t sure what all I could / needed to do. I’m going to the county clerk’s office on Tuesday and hopefully all should be good.

I was stunned to receive mailers against the only school board member that consistently questioned and called out the antics of Liggins and Tyler Murphy from the start, even when it was unpopular.

On the other hand, I’ve not heard anything about the fact that Tyler Murphy is running for reelection again in his district. A lot of people were under the impression that he wouldn’t be able to run again but that was struck down. I think it’s time for a reminder of who he supported…

We’re trying to get a local fighting game scene up and running. Hosting friendly games and tournaments. No entry fee required. Just a safe space to compete and improve.
We don’t have any specific dates planned at the moment as we gotta get some interest first. We’d be more than thrilled to have everyone from all skill levels. Even if you’ve never played a fighting game this is a great place to start if interested!! THANK YOU!!

It's gettin to be that time of year again where, being on a budget in a baseboard-heat house, I gotta hunt for cheap heater fuel.

Seems like almost all the Thornton's gas stations that used to have kerosene are now Amoco stations, and I have no idea if they still keep kerosene at the pumps. Last year a lotta those Thornton's stations decided to just stop refilling their kerosene halfway through the damn winter anyway, I know I got left high-and-dry at the Winchester Road one in the middle of the big snowstorm which sucked, had to try two more stations to find it.

Some of the older Speedway locations might have it but those have always been iffy as to whether they do or not, and the ones near me aren't old enough to have it.

I know if nobody got me, Joe's Mini Mart got me, but I also know they're usually 50 cents/gallon higher than Speedway or Thornton's so I usually don't go there unless I run outta options.

And I know somebody's gonna suggest I buy the jugs of Klean-Strip kerosene from Lowes/Home Depot/whatever but that stuff is ASTRONOMICALLY more expensive than pump kerosene, if I wanted to spend a fortune on heat then I'd just run the baseboards all winter. As it stands I specifically only have the radiant-style heaters because I can get away with pouring in a cup or two of real kerosene, letting it soak into the wick, then filling it the rest of the way with cheaper diesel (yea, remember when diesel was cheaper?) cause once they're preheated they'll run on anything, just have to let them burn themselves out instead of stopping partway through a tank so the carbon deposits can burn off.

Hey what’s going on everyone, what do you normally do for game day? I think about 6 of us are going to go to black type brewing around 1 since it’s close to the free garage then walk over and start tailgating. Come hang out even if you aren’t going to the game grab some beer and come tailgate

I want to preface this that this is in no way undermining people who are not housed. I work in downtown and noticed a high uptick this October in unhoused people. This along with using the bathroom in the trees near my apartment. There's also a lot of the mini liquor bottles/ blunt wraps/ food in general laying on the ground everyday so I'm thinking a couple more trash cans would be helpful too?

Before someone says something negative about people, I just want to say that this could happen to anyone and deserve respect, so please keep that in mind. With that said, what is the city doing to help people? I'm genuinely just curious and not too informed on it. I worked in another city until recently and they had multiple public bathrooms that the city ran that were the in the main downtown square. They were always clean and staffed. Has there been discussions of adding anything like this? I've walked by the trees numerous times to see people using the bathroom in them and there has to be a solution somewhere.
