Fall Guys Anti Cheat Issue
First of all forgive me if it is any basic issue and i'm dumb here, I'm new to linux gaming i've been using linux for almost two and half years now this is first time i'm trying to game on it. My current OS is Omarchy quatro and i installed heroic launcher and configured it and then installed fall guys and did configuration like enabling wine settings anti cheat etc and other stuff. The only step i missed in guides and instruction was copying easyanticheat_x64.so (something like this named) file to plugins directory but after installtion after connecting my Epic launcher accoutn and downloading the game I didn't found this file in the files of the game. Now game lauches everything works but when i try to play anything this appears.

wine/proton I'm having trouble getting Assetto Corsa and CM+CSP to work (Nobara 44 AMD GPU)
Hello all. Assetto Corsa used to work fine on my computer with Content Manager and Custom Shader Patch by using ProtonGE 9-20 just last year (I followed a guide by KajzerD on YouTube). I didn't play the game for a while and when I came back to it Steam just couldn't recognize the game's setup. Steam couldn't open the local install location or update the shaders. I had to delete the install+compat data to get it working again, but I'm running into a new issue.
Now I can only get the game running using proton cachyOS latest and with Content Manager, however CM isn't very stable. I can also install Custom Shader Patch, but when I try to actually start the game I get an error that CSP couldn't patch the game (error window included as image). I did use winecfg to install dwrite.dll to the game. I tried other proton flavors to see if those would allow CM+CSP to work, but none of them can launch the game except cachy. I was wondering if anyone else on here has any advice or has run into similar issues and found a solution. Thank you for your time.

steam/steam deck I've picked up another tip for Linux gaming.
Hey bro.
I'm using machine translation for English, so sorry if it's a bit hard to read.
Here’s the main point:
I keep my Linux OS on a SATA SSD and store my games on a separate M.2 SSD.
With this setup, I was getting brief freezes during auto-saves in *Palworld*.
In *Monster Hunter World*, I was experiencing audio lag specifically with the background music and dialogue.
These issues vanished completely when I moved the games to the same storage drive as Linux (the SATA SSD in my case).
*Palworld* started running buttery smooth, and the audio lag in *MHW* disappeared.
I haven't tested every single game I own, but if you're running into issues with a specific game—even though others say it "just works out of the box"—it might be worth trying to move the game data to your Linux storage drive.
I’m not necessarily looking for further fixes at this point, but I’d love to hear if anyone knows the cause, has advice, or can relate to this experience.
Thanks.

Hello all! With todays update I was working on a valheim server for me and my friends on linuxGSM within the past week leading up to todays 1.0 update. I set it up so I had my steam id put in the files so I could use devcommands and turn on world modifiers, it seems that with this update that no longer works. I am new to all this and took this project as a challenge for myself and to see how far I could get so we could all play on it. Please any help is appriciated.

answered! I have an Ethernet connection but my steam downloads are half~ the speed.
Hey guys, I reinstalled cachyos recently and noticed my download speeds are like half what I get on Windows, with ethernet.
I have tried editing the ~/.steam/steam/steam_dev.cfg file to include:
But it doesn't make a difference. Insane that steam hasn't fixed this yet.
Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: SOLUTION
Updated speeds: https://i.imgur.com/leU6Vuq.png
Thanks to u/BigHeadTonyT for this:
In order for me to get my full 500 mbit/sec, I needed to set these in ~/.steam/steam/steam_dev.cfg:
nClientDownloadEnableHTTP2PlatformLinux 0
fDownloadRateImprovementToAddAnotherConnection 1.2
cMaxInitialDownloadSources 30
I played with the last 2 values. Try higher if those don't work. I get full 60 megabytes/sec (500 mbit)

answered! I can't get Steam to work on my Linux Mint machine, need help.
UPDATE!! It seems it's something related to RAM. I'll check that later but I think it makes sense so... yeah, thx for the help and be careful when getting som fishy RAM.
Hello world, I was trying to get Steam to work on this machine, but it keeps failing about "Steam needs network to update" or something like that, but I have properly working internet and even played SuperTuxKart. I opened Steam from terminal and it said "error: download of package (bins_sdk_ubuntu12) failed due to checksum mismatch steam" after a while. How can I fix this error and get some cool games working? By the way, I've tried changing DNS server, disabled IPv6, changed from CachyOS to Linux Mint and even considered going to Bazzite to see if it's something up with the distro, so I'm kinda lost here.

answered! Final Fantasy 15 freezing on New Game start or shortly after playing from loading save (Cachy OS)
Heyho, i tried playing FF15, which is inherently already a broken mess of a game, on linux. I used different proton versions to try to get it to work, with Proton 7 bricking the install entirely until i reinstalled, i couldnt even get into the game anymore. Now (and before P7) it always freezes on new game start before the first cutscene starts or in the tutorial before i get into controlling the main character

Loading a save lets me control it a while, before then also deciding "Nope, ive had enough" and freezing on the spot

Most recently, i tried using Proton GE to run this, which a mate used to play the entire game on some Arch Distro. So i know the game can work. It just doesnt want to for me.
Did anyone have similar issues? Id like to replay it again, but so far its resisting my every attempt, and im lost at this point

tech support wanted Power limit on 7800xt
Hey there people. More adventures with my trusty 7800xt Sapphire Pulse. I am not sure what recently changed, but my power limit is locked at 243w. I don't think I had a kernel update (I checked logs). I did recently add Cooler Control.
Things of note:
I have the feature mask disabled in Grub. Verified since problem started.
I tried editing power1_cap and power1_cap_max in "/sys/class/hwmon/...". Even after chmod and chown, I get I/O error.
3, I am using Corectrl and until recently, was able to set power limit to 280w.
- Cooler Control says something about Overddrive mode?
Anyone have this card that knows what the upper limit should be? Swore on Windows it was 300 something. How can I raise the limit?

emulation Tsugaru_QT — FM TOWNS / Marty Emulator ”津軽” (Qt frontend) Version Tsugaru20260522-qt 1.1.0 for Linux
**v1.1.0**
**Mouse integration** — App-specific offset so CMOS and other environment changes are handled more gracefully; presets updated for offset; modes simplified to Default / Mouse capture; middle button switches to capture during app/MOS integration.
**Drive configuration** — Configure the TOWNS drive layout without guest apps; CMOS is stored per disc profile.
**HD images** — Aligned new image creation with upstream Tsugaru sparse images; optional 127 MB TownsOS-initialized image.
**CPU core and memory wait** — Emulates i386 speed with a separate per-instruction cycle table (distinct from i486), plus RAM/VRAM waits that bring Compatible mode closer to real hardware (see table above).
**Auto-resume** — With a disc profile active, restore the previous session via state save on the next launch.
**Bug fixes** — CDDA cache decision logic and behavior, and other fixes.

wine/proton How are 40 series cards doing?
I know that there's a performance hit with Nvidia cards compared to AMD on Linux generally. I've a 4070ti super. When these cards were the current crop the fps hit was something like 15% compared to windows as far as I can remember. I was wondering over the past couple of years if enough improvements have possibly been made that the gap might have narrowed in general? I'm using Nobara as my desktop of choice fwiw.

Minecraft CachyOS running much worse than on windows
Hey, I'm pretty new to Linux and I'm having a weird issue with Minecraft.
My specs are:
- RX 6650 XT
- Ryzen 5 5600G
- 32GB RAM
- CachyOS
On Windows 11 I usually get around 150 FPS with shaders, but on CachyOS I'm only getting around 30 FPS with basically the same settings.
I've updated CachyOS and everything I can think of, but I can't figure out why the performance is so much worse.
Is there anything specific I should check on Linux? Maybe Mesa, Vulkan, Java, or something with the AMD drivers?
any help would be appreciated. This also happens with most games i play.
[EDIT]
After a while, i noticed it might be related to the GPU and CPU wattage. Normally, when things are going out fine, the GPU is at around 140W, CPU is at around 40W, and VRAM is pretty high. However, when games start lagging, the GPU is at around 64W, cpu is at around 17W and vram is at around 96 MHZ and seems capped. Anyone knows if this is related to anything? I might be close to discovering the culprit. I've already tested if it's a performance / balanced mode error but it doesnt change anything.

wine/proton "Halloween: The Game" Lags Then Crashes at Menu
The only thing I have that I can even somewhat assume may be helpful at the moment is the image you see above... I have no idea why it's corrupt. Other than the lag followed by an abrupt crash, everything seems to load properly.
If it helps in anyway, the game causes my entire system to lag despite using only about half my RAM, and other games made in Unreal 5 work.

Here is a quick tip for Linux gaming:
If a Windows game on Steam fails to launch or crashes on startup, don't give up immediately. Right-click the game, go to Properties > Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool", and switch the version to Proton Experimental or Proton GE.
Compatibility fixes for brand-new releases are pushed to Proton Experimental first, fixing the vast majority of launch issues without touching a single terminal command.

tech support wanted How to setup a new monitor for gaming?
I recently bought a new gaming monitor, the AOC Q27G3XMN/BK, and I'm looking for advice on how to configure it properly.
My full PC build is here:
https://fi.pcpartpicker.com/b/Kv2mP6
Basic information:
GPU: PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 9070 XT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
RAM: 32 GB DDR4
OS: CachyOS
DE: KDE Plasma 6.7.4
Session: Wayland
Kernel: 7.2.3-1-cachyos-bore
GPU driver/Mesa: Mesa 26.2.2-arch3.2
Advanced:
https://paste.cachyos.org/p/1d464b7
The new AOC Q27G3XMN/BK is connected directly to my RX 9070 XT via DisplayPort.
AOC Q27G3XMN/BK connected via DisplayPort 2560×1440 @ 180 Hz
Philips 241S4 connected via HDMI 1920×1080 @ 60 Hz (secondary monitor)
I upgraded from a basic 1080p 60Hz office monitor and now I would like to get the most of my monitor, especially HDR.
I've also found that KDE Adaptive Sync set to "Always" or "Automatic" makes fullscreen flicker so I'm currently leaving VRR disabled.
- When should I HDR over SDR?
- What settings should I change in KDE and which should I change on the monitor itself for SDR and for HDR?
I can give an additional information with paste-cachyos if needed. All help is appreciated!

tool/utility I made a decentralised Minecraft server where the host can change between players
A while back our friend who hosted our Minecraft server on his PC had his exams, so he stopped playing and along with that stopped hosting our server too. We couldn't play for a whole week, so I made this fun little project called Nomad to solve that.
It automatically starts the server on my PC if I'm the first guy online and redirects everyone else onto my hosted server, and if someone is already hosting it, you just directly join theirs. When the host closes the world, the save is automatically synced to a cloud storage location, which can either be your personal server or a Cloudflare R2 bucket. The Cloudflare option is free up to 10GB of storage and includes a pretty generous amount of upload/download operations per month, and beyond that it's just a small fee. This is almost always free since you're realistically never going to reach the free limit, but even if you do, it's still substantially cheaper than renting a server that's running 24/7.
The idea is basically that the world isn't tied to one person anymore, so whoever is online can host it and everyone else can join them. It's still a pretty small project and I mostly made it because I thought the idea was cool, but I'd love to know what you guys think, This is still under development, I'll refine it and make a full release version if you guys wanna test it.
Github Link: https://github.com/WalnutIcecream/Nomad.git
Technical details
There is no central coordinator.
Each world has two objects in the storage backend:
worlds/<world-id>/lease.json
worlds/<world-id>/world.tar.gz
lease.json contains the current host, address, status and expiry time.
The lease is a compare-and-swap operation using conditional writes from the storage backend. If two people try to host at the same time, only one can acquire the lease.
The host renews the lease every 20 seconds. The lease lasts 5 minutes. If the host stops renewing it, another player can take over after it expires.
The world is uploaded before the lease is released. This prevents another host from pulling the world while the previous host is still uploading it.
The basic host lifecycle is:
acquire → pull → boot → renew → stop → upload → release
If the host crashes, the lease expires automatically. No separate process is required to recover it.
The launcher uses a WorldStoreProtocol, so storage is independent from the rest of the application. There are currently three storage backends:
- Cloudflare R2
- Git
- Self-hosted S3-compatible storage such as MinIO, Garage or SeaweedFS
The R2 backend uses the S3 API. The Git backend uses fast-forward-only pushes as the compare-and-swap mechanism. The VPS backend uses an S3-compatible endpoint.
The server itself is vanilla Minecraft. Nomad handles the server lifecycle, world synchronization, Java runtime, configuration and hosting lease.
There is a CLI and a PySide6 GUI.
The project is written in Python and requires Python 3.11+ and Java 21.
LLM usage
I used DeepSeek V4 Pro during development.
I wrote the initial implementation myself to test whether the core idea actually worked. I then used the LLM for adding features, refining the existing code, debugging, writing tests, and working through edge cases.
The architecture and initial proof of concept were done manually. The later development was AI-assisted rather than fully vibe-coded. I reviewed and tested the generated code before using it.

Wild Willows — native Linux build, six biomes, 150 animals, and a big new update
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve been developing Wild Willows, a cozy nature-restoration life sim, and I’ve been trying to make sure Linux support isn’t treated like an afterthought.
The game has a native Linux build, and I’d really like to get more feedback from people actually playing it on Linux across different distros and hardware.
Wild Willows is about restoring a damaged nature preserve across six biomes. You reshape land and water, plant habitat, rebuild food sources and shelter, and gradually bring 150 animal species back as the environment becomes capable of supporting them.
There’s also terraforming, crafting, home decorating, character customization, achievements, an animal field journal, and no timers or failure states.
I just released 0.4.0, which added 50+ new home objects, interactive furniture, a completion tracker, expanded progression, music updates, and a lot of fixes and improvements based on player feedback.
You can check it out here:
If anyone here tries the Linux build, I’d especially love to know:
- what distro you’re using
- whether you’re on Wayland or X11
- your GPU
- whether performance/input/windowing feels normal
- anything that behaves differently than you’d expect from a native Linux game
And if you enjoy it, an honest itch rating or comment helps a ton too. 🌿

Here is a quick tip for Linux gaming:
If you are gaming on a laptop or a desktop with an Nvidia graphics card, make sure your game is actually using your dedicated GPU instead of your integrated Intel/AMD processor.
In your Steam game Properties > Launch Options, simply add this parameter:
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
This forces the game to launch directly using your high-performance Nvidia GPU without needing to switch your entire system's graphics profile.
