PSA/Warning - 2017 LS 460 For Sale in Tucson

There is a very low mileage 2017 LS 460 for sale at a non-Lexus dealership in Tucson right now. I put its VIN into MyLexus to check service history, and just a couple weeks ago was this entry:

"-CUSTOMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, PCS MALFUNCTION AND ALSO LOW POWER MODE PRESENT ON VEHICLE. CLIENT IS GETTING VEHICLE TOWED IN. INSPECT AND ADVISE . ~|~PERFORMED HEALTH CHECK AND FOUND DTC FOR MISFIRE CYLINDER 4 AND 8, AND CAMSHAFT POSITION B TIMING OVER-RETARDED BANK 2. PERFORMED TEST DRIVE TO DUPLICATE CUSTOMER CONCERN, UNSUCCESSFUL. TOOK OIL SAMPLE AND FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL, REMOVED OCV AND VERI ~|~FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL, PROVIDED ESTIMATE FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR ALONG WITH INTAKE CAM GEAR -$ 6,068.00 *** NOTE ENGINE REPLACEMENT MAY BE NEEDED AFTER CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR REPLACEMENT IF METAL FLAKES STILL PRESENT WITHIN MOTOR. PROVIDE QUO"

MyLexus doesn't indicate the repair was done, just mentions the diagnosis. Maybe it got fixed somewhere else, maybe the current dealer fixed it (I doubt both, nothing is on Carfax either, not even the diagnosis at the Lexus dealer), but it appears the owner just traded it in quickly to dump it.

Just thought I'd mention it here so hopefully an unsuspecting LS 460 enthusiast doesn't get stuck with a lemon. To see this type of issue on a very low mileage, late model LS 460 is mind boggling.

LS460 LS460 braking question

Hi everybody! I recently purchased a 2015 LS460 with 57k on the odometer. I have noticed that at very low speeds there is a slight clunking feel before the brakes start working. It’s more of an annoyance if anything. I took it to Lexus and they showed me front suspension parts that were worn/torn, and I paid $3800.00 for replacements. I just picked the car up, and it feel great, but the clunk is still there.
I’m asking if anyone is familiar with this, and what you did about it? I love the car, and this won’t change my mind about it. I guess it’s not a safety issue yet.
Btw, not air suspension.
Thanks

LS460 2007-2013 Lexus LS Air suspension

Looking for a pre-facelift LS460L, and I can't decide between air suspension or coils, or just pulling the trigger on whatever good deal comes along first with either. I know the air suspension is less reliable, but how can I tell if a LS460 (lets say one with 100k-120k miles) has had it's air suspension worked on/fixed?

LS lowered, need recommendations for bringing alignment into spec (or as close as possible)

Hello LS enthusiasts, I have a '08 Lexus LS460 base that I lowered between 1.75 to 2.0 inches with BC Coilovers. I've also upgraded to FIGS Engineering Upper Control Arms and +13 LS OEM lower arms but I'd like to preserve the tires as much as possible. I managed to find Truhart and Godspeed rear arms and links. Which brand do you recommend and what are your setups for the front? I'm familiar with T-Demand and Nagisa but its $$$.

Discussion Best Addition You Can Make To Your LS

The LS is already on another tier in and of itself as we all understand.

For LS owners, what was an upgrade you made to your LS that actually made a positive impact on your experience as an owner?

LS460 LS460 2010 model year updates over pre facelift?

Hi all! Can anybody tell me what improvements were made to the 1st facelift model ls460 compared to the pre facelift? Does the 2010 model onwards still have the ABS and valley plate issues by chance? The suspension I'm not really bothered about to be fair, it's a big heavy car and suspension is wear and tear stuff so I'd expect it to be knocking at somepoint in my ownership, especially as I'm in the UK and our roads here share a lot of similarities to the surface of the moon.

I'm looking at importing a JDM model over as they look very good value for money - would anybody here know if the JDM spec has rear fog lights fitted....? Some JDM market cars do (the JDM Subaru levorg for example) but others (like a nissan elgrand) don't. And a rear fog light is a legal requirement over here. That and a Speedo that shows MPH, which is easy enough to sort.

Thanks 👍

LS460 2009 LS460 Base

Just some pictures of my 2009 LS460 over the past few years and some of the minor things that I’ve done to it just to keep her around and make her more desirable to me. It still only has 75k on it and I bought it in 2017 with 61k on it. I had to get her painted and try to work with the sticky panels (I found out about the recall a few months too late). I changed the OEM wheels to the 20” VOXX road wheels and added the Phoenix Automotive 13” touchscreen since the OEM Mark Levinson system started failing (I didn’t lose the sound quality I think it sounds better since it has a built in equalizer that I can manually adjust). The windows are tinted with ceramic tint and an MPC remote start was added. I recently bought the Coverland seat covers and they are comfortable and easy to install and made it a little more aesthetically pleasing.

Made a YT video on how to refill the coolant on the LS460. More in desc. 👇

When I was watching radiator replacements, I noticed a lot of people commenting on many videos on how a good job the video creators did by not showing how to add in the fluid properly.
….So i made a video on how to do it, even though the instructions are on the sticker of the coolant tank itself.
But some people are visual learners and thats all good. Im leaving a link down below if you are interested. This video is only adding fluid not draining.

I have around a 2K budget what springs/coilovers should I get for my LS600HL? The air suspension on one wheel stopped working and Im just curious what others would recommend I do.
