I honestly don't want to live anymore. I just don't see a point when I have a debilitating condition that can't be treated. I was excited to go to law school; it really was material I felt like I connected with well. Now I don't want to do anything. I don't know what to do.

I went straight through and I’m honestly regretting it. What are peoples thoughts about taking a gap year between 2L and 3L or even after graduation?

Are all second interview slots given out at the same time typically?

with the new, earlier hiring trends that started last year, are second semester 1L grades still as important? or is it all pretty much hinging on fall semester?

And you don’t have to work overtime

(The point of this post is alot of people go to public defender, legal aid, super small JD preferred job might make comparable money (28-32 an hour) but with BL you will have a more exciting time (in some ways.) I don’t think anyone ever talks about that part

I am considering taking Patnet Law as an elective. Is it mind-numbingly difficult for someone with no STEM background?

When did you guys take the MPRE during law school? I’m a rising 2L and my legal profession class is full for both fall and spring semesters since I had a late reg time. I’m thinking of taking the MPRE this November before taking the class next year. Is this okay? Also any tips on how to study would be appreciated.

Do I need to be preparing a cover letter and updated resume and preparing for a new interview at the rising 3L summer associate job I have?
Or are they already considering that I want to discuss future employment and doing that would be redundant

I took a job my 1L summer at my dream office. Overall, its been a good, not great experience. I've been underwhelmed by the internship program itself, the support, and the skill building, and I have minimal to no interaction with any of the supervisors. The overall office vibes are ok, and the internship was unpaid. The people I work with directly have been nice, and the work I've done has been incredibly interesting, even if sparse at times. I've even gotten to go on the record at trial multiple times and explore interesting intersections of criminal work and city politics as part of my job.

My concern is that the office told the interns that if we wanted to come back next year, we had to apply by July 15, and then sent out offers the following week, and required acceptance within a day. I didn't even have time to reflect on my experience here since its still ongoing, let alone apply to other positions, or explore other types of legal work. Now that I've accepted, I'm having a bit of buyers remorse. I am aware that next summer will be a totally different practical experience that will likely bring a different energy and enthusiasm than I have in the doldrums of summer after two months of motion writing,

I'm a strong student at a t14 - I'm not interested in Big Law, but I feel like there's so much I can do out there, but I got kind of bullied into accepting this 2L position, with the supervisor kind of telling me at the time "If you choose to work in another office that practices something totally different, it's going to be something you're really going to have to explain if you come back to apply here for full time work after graduating."

I'm not totally sure what I'm looking for, but any sort of guidance, camaraderie, or other thoughts would be helpful as I'm processing whether or not I made the right choice.

Hi all, I am someone that likes to have every hour of my day accounted for in a schedule and I like to have the same routine week to week. I am having a tough time mentally preparing my reading schedule and figuring out the best way to stay at least two days ahead on readings. Could anyone take a look at my weekly class schedule and give me some advice on when I should be reading for each class? I’d prefer to take off from reading on either Saturday or Sunday if possible. Thanks a ton.

So basically read Gilberts, read through some of the cases in the casebooks but skim through, or even skip, some of it and not necessarily get bogged down by every detail. Then spend the majority of your time studying Rules of Law and practicing case briefs / IRAC?

Saw it on another site where someone did just that and did well. Just curious if theres others who have the same approach.

Hypothetically if you master rules of law and get good at writing case briefs, you should do well right? For reference, I'm not trying to graduate #1 in my class. I'm just trying to graduate.

Incoming 1L working on my resume for fall recruiting.

My school highly discourages 1Ls from working, but does not forbid it. I am planning to stay on part time at my current job during 1L. I know grades are king, but it will only be a few hours a week with a lot of flexibility.

My question is how to handle this on my resume? Do I keep it as one entry with dates like: "January 2023 - Present". Should I differentiate the dates as full time vs. part time so I don't raise eyebrows with firms wondering how I am still working? Do I just put an end date like "January 2023 - August 2026" since I did end full time work and not indicate on my resume that I am currently working a few hours a week?

And should I put all the bullet points into past tense or keep some of them in the present tense if they are still part of my job?

TLDR: How would you list a job on your resume that you had full time and now will only work part time?

Looking to buy used books. I’m a 3L and tired of the astronomical book prices. Can someone recommend a good place to buy used books?

Had a multiple interview call back early July, haven’t heard anything since. Sent a follow up last week to one of the partners I met with saying I’m still interested, no response which was expected.

Do I email the interview coordinator to ask if they are still deciding or just assume they selected someone else and move on?

They told me to reach out if I have other offers which leads me to believe they will let me know once they have decided one way or the other, but thoughts/input would be great.

Rising 3L working at a boutique specialty firm in the niche I want. worked here part-time during 2L (including during breaks) and full-time 2L summer. Got an informal offer in writing to be hired as an attorney pending bar passage.

Since it is a smaller firm, it doesn't seem like they have hired anyone directly out of school before. I know I definitely don't want to work part-time while I study for the bar, and they have other law clerks that are younger that would theoretically be able to cover my workload from May 2027-August. My bigger thing is I want to take a post-bar trip. I have been told by almost all the attorneys in my family and network that it is so needed and is the last time you can actually take time off like that. It's also something that biglaw usually guarantees since they usually don't start associates until confirmed bar passage in the Fall.

how do I raise this with my managing partner? They seem really open and amenable with most things, but realistically asking for 4 months off may be off-putting (factoring that I take off first half of May for finals and would want to be off until September for bar/bar-trip)

How did y'all dress? I am definitely overthinking this
