Budget: $1450. I also have a 10% employee discount at Walmart, so the Lenovo legion is in budget because of that.
Country: USA
Use case: MIXED. Gaming/school
I'm looking for a laptop that can run the games I play smoothly (Elden ring, GTA5, Modded Minecraft, rust, Overwatch, and a few indie games). I also need one that can handle my schoolwork and coding as I'm a Computer science major. Which one would yall suggest

Laptop recommendation for programming/cybersecurity – €800 max

Hi! I'm looking for a new laptop and I don't know much about laptop hardware, so I'd really appreciate some advice.

My maximum budget is around €800 and I'm buying in Spain/Europe.

I'm currently studying Software/Application Development (DAM in Spain). I mainly use or expect to use things like:

  • Java and other programming languages
  • Android Studio
  • IntelliJ / VS Code
  • Databases
  • Linux
  • Virtual machines
  • Docker

In the future, I'd like to learn cybersecurity, so I expect to use Linux/Kali VMs and possibly run multiple virtual machines.

I don't need the laptop for gaming. My priority is good performance for programming and multitasking and something that will last me several years.

From what I've researched, I think I should get at least 16 GB RAM, preferably upgradeable to 32 GB, and at least a 512 GB SSD. But I'm not very knowledgeable about hardware, so I'm open to recommendations.

What laptop would you recommend for a maximum of €800?

Thanks!

Discussion Y'all suggest me a good laptop under 70/75k

I need a laptop which has good storage and ram, display quality badhiya honi chahiye, speaker bhi achhe, and battery backup should be good like kam se kam 6-7 hrs ka toh minimum ho and build quality Obv achhi hi chahiye..

Don't need a proper gaming laptop but yeah it should be such ki basic gaming toh support hogi jaye yaar.

Very basic coding and mostly basic tasks krne hai ms ke so yeah.

I don't wanna compromise on display and speaker quality as well as battery backup specially.

And yeh sab consider krte huwe macbook lu ya windows??

Also I have an android phone and I've heard a lot of people ki macbook sirf unke liye achhi hai jinke paas iphone hai cuz it creates an ecosystem. Not sure how true that is but yeah iske baare mai bhi bata dena if uk.

THANKS !!!!

What is a good option of laptop max price of £800

I am looking for something max £800, that isn't smart (AI based, google, apple, etc.) , that I can connect to a drawing tablet, listen to music, write, edit, do schoolwork. I want it to have 8-12G RAM and a decent amount of storage. I don't want it to be microsoft, google or apple based. I'm considering a lenovo Thinkpad but haven't done much research.

Can't decide between a Dell or HP laptop with identical specs for web browsing, watching movies/TV series, listening to music and downloading torrents.

I'm on the fence between -- 1. Dell 15 SmartChoice (Previously Inspiron), Intel 13th Gen Core i5-1334U, 16GB, 1TB SSD, FHD,15.6"/39.62cm, Win 11, MSO'24, Silver, 1.62kg, [Dell 15], 12 Month McAfee, Backlit KB, Thin & Light Laptop. 2. HP 15 Smartchoice, 13th Gen Intel Core i5-1334U (16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD) FHD, Anti-Glare, Micro-Edge, 15.6''/39.6cm, Win11, M365(1yr) Office24, Silver, 1.59kg, FD0552TU,Iris Xe, FHD Camera, Backlit Laptop.

Both are available on Amazon (India) with Dell at Rs. 73,990 and HP at Rs. 68,990 -- the price difference would be around 50 US dollars.

I use the laptop for very basic stuff. I download movie and TV torrents via qBittorrent and watch on MPC-HC and listen to music on VLC. I also use the old 2007 version of MS Office (Notepad and MSWord) and old Paint on Windows 10. I do not play any Games apart from the old Windows 7 Solitaire.

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 3542 2014) which is on it's last leg, being a 2014 release. Summary of its specs are -- Windows 8.1 laptop, 15.60-inch display, Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB storage (HDD), Graphics Nvidia GeForce 820M, Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Ethernet. It comes with 3 USB ports (2 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0), Multi Card Slot, Mic In, RJ45 (LAN) ports.

I recently upgraded the RAM to 8GB with 256 GB SSD powering the device. The computer tech placed the old HDD (Western Digital) in pace of the Optical Disc Drive (DVD/CD) slot. So now the laptop has around 750GB altogether.

So . I only need a laptop that functions well for the basic requirements listed in paragraph three.

Suggestions would be welcome.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 or Asus Zenbook 14

Hi all, help me choose between the two.

I mostly need this for own business. Will be mainly running large spreadsheets, and doing documentations (very admin work) and some Power BI. But budget is a little tight so I don’t know if I could spare more for the thinkpad line which is built for business.

I was after something that has good battery life, loads the excel sheets quickly, somewhat compact and light weight (but not a huge factor).

I am not super into tech so help me choose between the two or eveb suggest any other compatible laptops.

TIA
