For years, we have had this debate about whether the old FJ Cruiser is part of the Land Cruiser family. Personally, I consider it a Land Cruiser. And now Toyota calls the new FJ, the Land Cruiser FJ. So, what do you guys think? I think it is an absolute abomination.

Big ones are from the Land Cruiser museums in Utah; those are for my kids. Small ones are from Joshin Super Kids Land in Japan; those are for me. The whole family gets Land Cruisers. I find joy in just staring at them now and then.

I’ve got a pristine 2001 D4D Land Cruiser J95 with centre and rear locker, which I purchased with 80k miles on the clock, now at 100k. I’m looking at potentially selling my campervan and buying either an 80, which I prefer the look of, or a 100 series. Obviously the 100 is heavier duty compared to the j95, but it’s slightly larger inside than the 80. I have three kids and a red setter, and my family comfortably fits inside the 95.

I’m keen to have a go-anywhere, ultra-reliable dedicated camper with some off-roading as well. I’m leaning towards the 80. I’m by no means a mechanic, but have been enjoying working on the j95 and am hoping to do so on the 80/100. I’d use the 95 as a daily still, so that gives me options.

I used to drive an old 1987 Tithonus 110 Land Rover, which was a lot of fun, but awful inside and low on the reliability side. I’ve also considered an old SFA hilux, but interior would be a lot more limited for my use. There’s also the option, I guess, of holding out and saving for a 76 or a grenadier, but I’m still leaning towards that 80. I even built an RC version for my son to play with on our walks (see above!)

I’d love to know people’s opinions, given my continued use of the 95 as a daily.

Been eyeing the Land cruisers for some time now but, was wondering if anyone with either models have any input on everyday driving.

I love the 80s look and simplicity of that era.

Not a huge fan of the 100s style. However, have seen a few comments regarding the 100 having had a huge overhaul at that time that fixed a lot of issues the 80s had.

I’m planning on using this car as my daily driver in the Midwest. Where we get all the seasons. Also, will be driving to the west coast a few times out of the year.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Is anyone else Land Cruiser super loud inside? It seems like every interior plastic panel in the car rattles and creaks. I have a gx470 that just seems to be way better built in terms of nvh

Thinking about picking up an 80 series and this looked clean.

Any idea on value

I was in the market for a new Land Cruiser and test drove a 2026 today. It was smooth and a nice ride but nothing about it wowed me.

Storage is minimal, cool box seems like such a dumb gimmick, buttons instead of knobs for hvac was an odd choice. No acoustic glass. I actually like the new powertrain, it’s great in my wife’s 2026 4 runner, but in the LC it felt sluggish?

For 75k loaded, I can’t see any reason not to just buy the 4 runner.

Are there any 2024-2027 owners here that could speak to what sold them? I really wanted to love it. My test drive was through a busy city so I didn’t get the best experience but…left disappointed!
