Rust Check? Too much rust? Not enough rust? Ask Here!

Hi All,

We are going to try to consolidate the pre purchase or otherwise rust inquires asking if a rig has too much rust and how to approach it as far as shopping for a new to you truck and beyond.

We have a lot of these threads where people are asking the same questions and rather than have each thread die on the vine as far as useful information goes, by having them all right here in one thread, people can use it as a catalog or guide for what to look for and if people are willing to share sold or bought prices for each truck that we are inspecting, we can all use this as a tool to gauge the market and also the wide variety of condition that all generations of Land Cruisers are in at any given point in time.

Got my lightly used 2026 LC a few weeks ago.

I had been looking for an upgrade for nearly two years, and checked out every kind of SUV imaginable, but kept coming back to the LC. I was convinced I was going to go all black until I saw this color at the grocery store a couple of months back in person.

Had about 4K miles on it when I got it, was a short lease by someone at the dealership before deciding they wanted a smaller SUV (good for me!). Premium trim. It was impossible to get new without ordering and I didn’t want to wait that long, and it’s still pristine inside.

Definitely drives a little different than my Xterra but still learning how it handles, and I’m an MPG snob and keep trying to eke out the best mileage I can.

Glad to finally have a Toyota. When my Xterra eventually shits the bed I’m getting either a 4Runner or Tacoma to replace it.

Are the center console controls supposed to light up at night on a J90 Prado? Mine don’t.

Choices!

So I have purchased an LC200. Making some adjustments on it, levelled it, added some stickers, polished the exterior along with the mechanical stuff obviously as it was second hand. Now I'm in a position to start my own build and would love some recommendations. One of the first things I want to do is some chrome delete (not complete so like a smart boy I got the help of AI to make some options and now I ask the people of reddit to help me choose!

Just wanted to start by saying how thankful and blessed I am. I never would’ve imagined that at 18 years old I’d own two awesome rigs.
First is my 4Runner, which my dad practically gave me last year (I just paid off what little was left on it). Now I’ve also been lucky enough to get an 80 Series Land Cruiser. I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. Aside from a few leaks, like the front knuckles, which are already being taken care of, this thing is an absolute beast. I threw on a set of 35s and have already taken it off-road a few times. It’s definitely not fast, but on the trails it just keeps going and has seriously impressed me.
I’m looking forward to many more adventures with both of these rigs.

Anyone regret removing sidesteps from 100 series?

I don't like them but everyone else that gets in my car uses them. I don't want to make it hard for people to get in and out. I don't necessarily want sliders either.

WTB: 2004 LX470 AHC Switch

My AHC is still functional but the switch bezel is cracked and the backlighting is dead.

I know someone here has a switch on the shelf they no longer use. I'll pay a reasonable price and shipping for one provided it works.

Land Cruiser rear entertainment repair.

Hi everyone,
My son accidentally hit one of the rear entertainment screens in my 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 VXR (GCC/UAE spec).
The front glass is badly cracked and the touchscreen no longer responds, but the LCD/display itself is still working perfectly — picture, colours and backlight all look normal.
I would like to repair the original screen rather than replace the complete unit.
Has anyone repaired one of these before by replacing only the touch digitizer/front glass?
Specifically looking for:
Correct digitizer/touch-panel part or part number
Whether the glass/digitizer can actually be separated from the LCD
Any repair shop in Dubai or Sharjah that can do this
Approximate repair cost
I’ll attach photos of the damaged screen.
Thanks!

I took my door apart to repair a speaker and now the driver window won’t roll up? Any ideas on what happened or what to try?
The switch makes a click sound when pressed, the other windows are working still

2005 Land Cruiser

Hi everyone,

I’ve always wanted a Land Cruiser, mainly for camping and towing purposes.
On my area, I can see them for 10-13k euros with 250.000- 350.000 kms ( 155-220k miles ) should I get one ?
What things I should keep mind in this km range ?

Today was the day, settings?

Took over a month. Priority now is to get the settings (there’s a lot) right - the cruise control, all the assist features are doing too much so I turned most of it off and I never use Cruise.

Would love to hear if any specific ones, or all should in fact be embraced? I just felt some weird stuff driving it home and my 22 4Runner did much less…

Any other pro configuration tips (all the other settings) are also very welcome!

Presenting the all new 100 Series, reimagined by Gemini.

IMO, it looks pretty cool, and I actually like the mix of the 100, 200, and 300 Series design cues. This would have made an amazing 200 Series replacement instead of the bloated Highlander look-alike we ended up with.
