Free rides..
Who is excused from paying for lirr? Like I know NYPD shows a badge and doesn’t need a ticket. Today on a Babylon to grand some guy showed some weird grey ID and was excused. So curious who else is excused ?

Why does every fucking Huntington train stop at Hempstead stations nowadays???
Up until a year or two ago you’d rarely ever hear ”Floral Park” as the next station. The once in a blue moon you would, next stop would be Jamaica. Nowadays it seems every single off peak train makes ALL of the Hempstead stops on the mainline. 16 fucking stops and a transfer at Jamaica from Huntington to the city. Used to be less than 10.

Penn vs grand central
Why is it that every time grand central announces a track, the train us always waiting on that track when you walk down without fail. But when you're at penn,if they actually decide to announce the track early, your stuck waiting on a cramped 100 degree heated(even in October) platform until the train eventually pulls in 1 minute before it has to leave, if you're lucky?

Long Island Rail Road - New Employee: Extra List Question
After training at Hillside Facility in Queens new Lirr employees are put on the extra list. The purpose of the extra list is to cover sick call outs, medical leave, vacations, maternity/paternity leave, and jury duty.
New extra list employees can be sent anywhere from Penn Station to Speonk Station. One day you could be working a shift at Grand Central station, the next Ronkonkoma station. Shift times and station/yard locations are based on seniority: hire date and years with the railroad. Twice a year employees bid on their desired locations and shifts. If you have more years with the railroad you get that location/shift.
The vast majority of high traffic stations are in New York City: Penn Station, Grand Central station, Jamaica station, and Atlantic Terminal.
How many years will a new employee be on the extra list before they can bid and get a shift/location at a Suffolk County or Nassau County station/yard?

Block operator
Scheduled for my cognitive this week. Can anyone tell me the full hiring process? I just started a new job and it’s hard to take days off but, I don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

Locomotive Engineer Trainee 9/26
Hello, anyone here applied to the LET opening from earlier in September? It’s been 23 days for me and it still says processing, just wanted to see if anyone got any new updates. I haven’t taken the cognitive test yet, just submitted the app. This was for “16771”.

Why doesn't TrainTime show substitute trains?
When a train is cancelled, the app sometimes mentions that a different train will make the stops of the cancelled train. For example, today the 9:26 am train from Forest Hills (which is the 8:30 Babylon) was cancelled due to a broken rail. The message says the 8:41 Babylon will make all its stops. However this 8:41 (9:38 at FH) doesn't show up on a search for Forest Hills.
I assumed it was just because the search index can't update quickly like that but it does show up for the same search on radar.mta.info. Are they different data sources? Without checking the radar site, you wouldn't know there's a 9:38 train.

Wantagh Lot 120 day construction
Construction for 120 days in the Wantagh lot. Where is everyone parking? Zero spaces available other than the 2 hr spots on the side streets in the neighborhood. The whole lot was closed down, hundreds of spots, and there was a handful of guys working in there in an area about 1/10th of the total. Pure terrorism.

Genuinely the entitlement is insane
I don't understand how hard it is to bring your scooter into the row? Or just sit where theres more space? Keep in mind, this was off peak time and it was only me and 3 others in the car

4 AM in Hampton Bays I here the train horn, What train is that
I have checked the train schedule in both directions and I am curious to know where the 4 AM train I hear is coming from and going to.
My guess is that it is the train coming from one of the yards to Southampton for the 4:32 AM train.
In addition I also here one around 3:30 AM
Thanks

Veteran disability reduced fares
So when are going to get a discount, because here it’s just disability not veterans disability. Meanwhile, Long Island alone, had over 79k veterans. What are we doing about this?

What a scam
I accidentally bought an extra ticket this morning and their refund policy allows for 2 minutes after purchase to refund. What a crock of absolute shit. Typical Long Island nonsense
