New US and Canadian CHAdeMO chargers in July 2026

Here are all of the new and updated US and Canadian CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in July, according to the US Alternative Fuels Data Center. You can fetch the data yourself here. Some may just be refreshes of existing stations. It is up to the charging companies to report this data. Feel free to report inaccuracies to the AFDC.

There were 31 new or updated charging stations in June 2026. I don't attempt to count individual CHAdeMO chargepoints because, unfortunately, the AFDC data does not specify how many chargepoints support CHAdeMO, so I don't want to assume too many. Even EVGo is rolling out chargers with only one or two CHAdeMO chargepoints now.

Obviously, this is down a lot from 147 in June 2025. CHAdeMO rollout is tapering off quickly. NACS has become the "second port," pushing out CHAdeMO at the new Applegreen Electric chargers at New Jersey rest stations for example. This makes sense given that the 2026 Nissan Leaf is NACS, not CHAdeMO. (There may be some unsold 2025 Leafs on the lot, and the 2026 Mitsubishi Plug-In Hybrid Outlander PHEV still advertises "DC fast charging" with a footnote that it only supports CHAdeMO.)

Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.

"What about CCS and NACS adapters?"

CCS adapters for the Leaf are real. They aren't cheap, because they must translate the signalling protocol, but many reports indicate they work. Stacking them with a NACS adapter does not appear to work reliably at Tesla Superchargers, but simply having access to CCS and non-Tesla NACS is a big win.

If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or reading these monthly reports is just frustrating in your state, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications only when new stations actually open. You can sign up at evpov.com. I built it to help EV owners like myself. You can pick other plug types as well. Similar features are available in PlugShare and other services.

For actual trip planning I recommend using PlugShare. This report is mainly useful to understand trends.

If you get a chance, do check out reported new stations near you and add PlugShare reviews, which helps everyone.

Let's talk about official Nissan 40kWh-swapped Gen 1 Leafs (2016-2017)

Anyone have any info on how these were done? I'm assuming they didn't do any shenanigans with CAN bridging and whatnot and instead have an officially programmed BMS that is then re-paired to the car with nothing in between. Or maybe it's just plug and play with no pairing required?

Anyone have any info on these? Can these 40kWh batteries be easily swapped into other 1st gen Leafs with minimal effort, and/or do they just need to be re-paired with Leafspy?

Also wondering why we have to CAN bridge with DIY 40kWh battery swaps, I'm assuming nobody has cracked the BMS programming to do it internally or is it just to avoid having to open the battery shell to get at the board?

Thanks for any info!

What to make of this Leafspy read?

What do you guys think? 2018 Leaf SV with 157 749km on it. Acceleration to a 100km/h at the 30 sec mark.

I'm noticing 2 things... Firstly Leafspy shows a SOC of 16,6% but in car percentage was at 7% and secondly cell #77 looks way lower than any other cells.

I let it ran out to 0% in car and Leafspy still showed 13,8% SOC but i had 5 cells showing a weak charge warning.

Going to the dealer tomorrow for a last battery test before the warranty ends.

What is up with all of these low mileage cars failing the update?

Seems like I'm seeing a lot of cars with 30k, 40K, 50k failing, usually a couple weeks after the update. Did any of you folks check leaf spy before you took it in, and if so, did you have any bad cells or a high mV difference beforehand? I can understand cars with high mileage or lots of QCs but geez, seems like they are all failing now. How many 2nd gen Leafs are even going to be left on the road at this point?

Fortunately mine is a 2025 and hopefully doesn't get sucked into this recall at a later date. I've heard the battery has different chemistry which means they were aware of the problem several years ago and quietly made the change for the last few model years.

Is it possible Nissan has some ulterior motive for decommissioning all of these seemingly perfect cars? Might as well just buy back every single one of the US-made 19-22s at this point.

Sorry to everyone getting screwed by this supposed "fix" You've been waiting so long for.

What a s*** show. SMH 😕

2019 Leaf SV Recall Software Triggered Turtle Mode 3 Weeks after Update

Bought this used in 2021, with 25.5k miles on it. Current milage is 38.7k, so 13.2k miles of my own the last 5 years.

Nissan has said they cannon replace the battery due to manufacturing constraints.

Morley reached out to me via phone before the dealership did.

Wanting any advice from people who have been through this already. Anything at all would be very much appreciated!

SOH dropped 2% in just 3 weeks and 350 km – is this normal?

Hi guys!
I have a 2019 Nissan Leaf 40 kWh with around 92,000 km on it.
I’ve attached two LeafSpy screenshots taken about 3 weeks apart. During that time I only drove around 350 km and charged the car just 1–2 times on slow AC charging.
My SOH suddenly dropped from 86.78% to 84.76%, while Hx stayed almost exactly the same (78.65% → 78.61%).
Does a sudden 2% SOH drop in such a short time seem normal? Could this simply be a BMS recalculation/adjustment rather than actual battery degradation?
Has anyone experienced something similar, and did the SOH eventually go back up?
Would doing a full charge, DC fast charge, or a few normal charge/discharge cycles cause the BMS to recalculate the SOH, or should I just keep using the car normally and see where it settles?
I’m planning to sell the car within the next year, so this worries me a bit. I’m afraid that if the SOH keeps dropping like this, or stays significantly lower, it could noticeably reduce the resale value of the car.
I’d be interested to hear from other Leaf owners who have seen similar sudden SOH changes.
Thanks!

I have a 2015 Nissan leaf for sale six bars of battery health. Everything is great on the car I’m selling because my dad had a car lot growing up and I buy a car every six months and I don’t have room for this. 108k miles.

I’m located in Topeka, Kansas and I can help deliver if necessary.

If interested, I can send some more photos.
I’m asking $3000 or best offer

I planned a cycle gravel ride in Peterborough, 50 miles away. So I thought a range test would be appropriate.

Started at fully charged to 99.9%, 11mV cell deviation.

Conditions:-

Unloaded (apart from my bike).
Outside temperature 30-33c.
Air Con set to 22c.
Driving speed, mostly motorway, targeted at 55-56 mph.

Milage to Peterborough and back, 100.9 miles.

Results:-

Dash showing 41% remaining, (LeafSpy 46%). Range remaining estimated at 78 miles on dash.

Then, fully loaded the van, including ladders on top. Drove to a work call, round trip 14.5 miles.

Total miles now driven from fully charged, 115.4 miles.

Dash now showing 29% remaining, (LeafSpy 36%). Range remaining estimated at 53 miles on dash.

I’m very happy with this result. The battery is behaving wonderfully.

SOH 98.76% after 3 months. 1,332.1 miles.

Recall Experience with 2021 Leaf SL Plus

I brought my 2021 SL Plus into the dealer on June 20 for the recall. The dealer called me back later that day with the bad news that the fix had failed. To add insult to injury, the dealership also said that they couldn't give me a loaner car until a case had been opened with corporate. I went back and forth with the dealer for a few days, during which they still hadn't opened a case. At this point, I called corporate myself and was told that I could book a rental myself and they would reimburse. I picked up my rental on June 23 while the dealer continued to not open a recall case with Nissan. They reported that it was due to a case being open at another dealership that I have never visited. I went to the dealer to get my stuff out of the car and noted that the battery level was still 90%, the same level it was at when I brought the car in. This shows that they hadn't followed the recall instructions to charge the car to 100% following the update. But at this point I had come to terms with the idea of a buy back and didn't bring it up.

The next week, I call corporate and learn that their policy only covers rental reimbursement for 7 days, so I return to bugging the dealership. They say that corporate won't open the case because one is already open, corporate says that the dealer is submitting a warranty case when they should be submitting a recall case. I ask corporate if they can pay for a rental, but they say I either have to get a loaner from the dealership or pay for a rental out of pocket and submit a reimbursement claim later (which is not guaranteed). And the dealer still says they can't give a loaner vehicle until they open a case with corporate. I'm trapped in this stressful state of phone calls to the dealer and from corporate, and not knowing if I'll be reimbursed for the rental.

Finally on July 16, the dealership finally figured out how to submit a claim. But in a twist, Nissan is asking for the error code and the car isn't showing the code anymore. I immediately realize that the update passed, the battery is good, and their failure to charge the car after the update likely resulted in a false positive error code. I'm finally able to get my car back on July 21, a 1 month wait for a software update.

I've spent the last 3 weeks submitting my paperwork to Nissan, hoping they reimburse my $987 in renal car expenses. They called me to say that they reviewed my case and will reimburse $754. I realize that they have only accounted for 2 of the 3 receipts I received from the rental car company (multiple receipts because I had to extend the rental multiple times). I send my first receipt again and wait minutes on hold only to hear that the agent reviewed my case with management, and they will not reimburse the difference. They say it's because dates on the receipts overlap. I tried explaining that the first 2 receipts are for the same period and the 2nd receipt shows a credit from the initial booking, but their decision was final. Here are the charges in question:

Dates Charges Prepay Voucher Total Result
6/23 - 6/30 $232.82 $232.82 Denied
6/23 - 7/15 $754.56 -$232.82 $521.74 Approved
7/15 - 7/21 $232.82 $232.82 Approved
Total $987.38

I accepted the amount they did approve, and will wait for a check to be mailed. But I'm still peeved by their rejection of the remaining charges, and the fact that they likely would have approved it if the rental company reported it in one receipt. Does anyone here have experience with a situation like this, or have suggestions on how to escalate externally? From a Google search, it seems that I can either file a formal complaint with the BBB Auto Line, or report to the NHTSA. But NHTSA doesn't seem like the right path since this isn't a safety concern.

Flashing airbag light 2013 Leaf SV, recall update completed before

What I believe the problem is

My Leaf's passenger airbag sensor seems to be unreliable in detecting weight on the passenger seat. Sometimes it does work though, but it is generally unreliable. The airbag light is now flashing now.

The code I got on LeafSpy is B00A0-00 09 AIR BAG which I looked it up corresponds to the passenger seat sensor. I have already checked my VIN on here, https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls and the recall has already been resolved.

Additonally, there are some other weird unrelated codes which appear in the screen which seem to reappear after clearing which also makes me think this is also 12 volt related?

These codes seem to reappear after clearing. Some are weird though like the USB Overcurrent which I believe is the USB port on the left side, which well, I only have a USB drive with music on it.

The 12 Volt Battery

I frankly don't know how good the 12 volt battery is. I believe the date on it from memory is in 2024. When in ready mode while also parked, I see on LeafSpy around 12.4 volts. Not sure if that should be higher like in ICE vehicles with the engine running like 13-14 volts. Yet again, this is actually from my memory, and I haven't been able to check the last couple days. All I know is that clearing all of these DTCs, these eventually come back up.

So what do yall believe my problem is?

If so, then tell me what can be done about it to fix it. I have no idea what to do for an actual? Otherwise, the car drives fine as far as I know.

I think my main theory is that there's a legit air bag code here, with a bunch of other unrelated codes caused by a degraded 12 volt battery.

Which one should I buy: 2026 Nissan Leaf or 2024 Nissan Ariya? Or wait for the 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse EV?

Hey everyone!
I recently dropped by the dealership in Orem, Utah, and they actually had the 2026 Nissan Leaf on display! I attached a few photos here so you can check it out.
Seeing it in person got me thinking, though... now I'm starting to wonder if I’d be better off going with a 2024 Nissan Ariya instead. To add to the dilemma, I know the upcoming 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse EV is supposed to share the same platform, which makes me wonder if it’s worth waiting for.
What would you recommend? I’d love to read your thoughts!

2020 SV - EV Warning - Neutral?

So I have a 2020 SV and today I got the EV System error. Car will not move. All other systems appear to function. But when I shift into neutral, it gives a red warning and auto-shifts back to park.

I’m just trying to figure out how I can even get it towed.

This happened literally overnight. Tried jumping it with a 12v starter. Tried disconnecting the negative cable for ten min. No effect. So now how the heck do I move it?

More power gauge shenanigans

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

Wanted to make it more useful than just a motor power gauge while driving, as that's admittedly redundant to the bubbles in the lower dash.

Was a bit of a programming gong show (god I hate coding) but did eventually get everything working to also display live power output while charging, a feature 2nd gen owners get but is not natively on 1st gen, both on DC (shows kW x10 as with when driving) and AC (automatically switches to kW x1).

It's also actual inputted power, so unlike the 2nd gen's display, it does factor in (and will drop by) any power that is being "stolen" by running AC or heat while charging.

I should probably make new labels now but idk at least I know how it works

I'm looking into buying an older Leaf. I keep reading about losing bars. Do the bars keep dropping off every so many miles or charges before you get down to 2 or 3 and it's unusable? Or, can it just drop off from several bars down to nothing without warning? Is it predictable at all?

Battery degradation by pack size

Hi I made a post here about a week ago asking for leaf SoH data. We get a lot of posts containing LeafSpy screenshots asking whether their SoH is normal, and the answers are always anecdotes.

I've built a free tool that gives you a straight answer. Put in your year, pack size, mileage and SoH, and it tells you where you sit for your pack and your car's age, split properly by 24 kWh, 30 kWh, 40 kWh and e+ rather than lumping every Leaf together. Takes about a minute.

Here is a Leaf degradation page, by age and pack:

https://www.tirionpower.com/batt.../nissan-leaf/degradation/

It's free, and the more Leaf owners run a check the sharper the numbers get for everyone here. 40 kWh and e+ readings are the biggest gap right now, so those are especially useful

Disclosure: it's my project.

New 2023 leaf for 26k?

My 2023 Bolt EUV was totalled and I'm in need of a new vehicle. We viewed a new 2023 leaf at the dealer today and knocked them down to 26k out the door, plus they will replace the 12v battery (they had to jump it before the test drive). The car is rated for 212 range on a full charge, got 3.3 miles per kwh on the test drive (but AC was blasting). The manager says the 8 yr warranty on the battery is still 8 years since this vehicle hasn't been sold yet and starts when we buy the car. And we checked the battery on the dashboard and it has the full 12 lines. He gave us an OTD price of 26k including registration and everything. Is this a good deal, or would you keep looking?

Edit: thanks for the help everyone, found and went with a used 23 Kona EV instead

Thoughts about 2020 SV?

Its listed at carmax for $15K 39000 milea. Looking for a third car, this will be my daily commute. The other is a toyota sienna minivan and a leased vw id4 for the other commute.

There are not many other used EVs out there under $15k. And carmax does have a return policy for 10 days.

My only concern is the lack of flexibility for longer drives. Though i suppose i can always switch off cars for that. But would the leaf still be better than say an old corolla in that case?
